Larga semana es aquella que pasa lenta. El concepto temporal de lentitud va estrechamente relacionado con la cantidad de cosas de tu agrado que puedes llegar a realizar. Por ejemplo, los hay que disfrutan corriendo 2km al día y para ellos ese momento significa un lapso de tiempo invertido, atemporal y sin otro parangón posible. Otros se pasarían horas mirando arte o simplemente creándola, de hecho a veces el tiempo puede llegar a ser ínfimo, pues cuando tu mente se centra en una hoja de papel en blanco pueden pasar 2 cosas o que la rompas y te dediques a otros quehaceres o que empieces y una vez acabado te des cuenta que han pasado más de 4 horas.

En fin, que hay algo de lo que todos no podemos escapar y son de nuestras obligaciones y mientras yo preparo todo lo que necesito para el día de mañana, pues los fines de semana son tan escuetos que a veces parecen una utopía. Pero para ello existe el ocio, cualquier tipo de ocio y desde Under My Mind os recomendaremos que durante los momentos de tedio explotéis los 5 sentidos, y si puede ser combinándolos mejor que mejor, así que si la semana que viene no sabéis que hacer y queréis rellenar las horas estas son mis recomendaciones:

Pues la primera va de Manga y vaya título, que decir que cuando la empecé a leer no dejé el tomo de 420 páginas (Edición Kazenban) hasta terminarlo y es que la historia del Dr. Tenma va mucho más allá del bien o del mal, de lo moral o lo inmoral.

Y si con lo anterior aún no habéis tenido suficiente, con Ágora tendréis horas de reflexión, pues la película invita una vez visualizada a largas tertulias discutiendo sobre qué podríamos ser y en qué nos convertimos. Gran señor Amenábar muy grande.

Tendido en tu cama, sin ganas de hacer nada sólo de dejar las horas pasar, pues para mí es el momento perfecto para escuchar algo que me haga olvidarme de donde estoy y hacia donde quiero ir. Si no tengo más remedio iré hacia donde me lleven mis pasos pero mientras iré escuchando a éste vocalista de los Linkin Park con tendencia a tener hernias en las cuerdas vocales, eso sí, en Death by Sunrise (disco en solitario) nos muestra su cara más melancólica.

Y para terminar esta semana recomendaré este libro, que aun no ser un Bestseller está inspirado en una de las Sagas más grandes de los videojuegos…así que esta semana en mis ratos libres me lo voy a leer. Es una promesa. Pero Lao, ¿ésto no era un blog de videojuegos? Pues sí, pero no de pan sólo vive el hombre, aunque para ratos de relleno y algún que otro momento íntimo con nuestro amigo Roca, he elegido éste gran título…

Travis Barker has big plans for his upcoming solo record.  After wrapping up Blink-182’s reunion tour and rehearsing for a live show with Slash scheduled for November 22nd, he’s told MTV he’ll be in the studio cranking out a solo album that will hit stores in January or February of 2010.

Blink fans will be happy to know that the band will record a new song for Barker’s album.

Travis told MTV News:

“There’s some stuff on my record that’s not going to have a bunch of guitars, that are just straight-up hip hop records. Everything’s going be real different. It’s going to be really well-rounded.”

“We got a new Blink song on there, I think I’m going to do something with Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. Hopefully a guest appearance from Slash, I’m doing his big fundraiser that happens this month. I think there’s going to be a collaboration with [Kanye West's touring DJ] A-Track, so it’s gonna be really in all directions.”

Sounds like there will be something for everyone on the record, unless you don’t like Barker’s infectious remixes and hard hitting drum style, in which case, why are you reading this?

The side project of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, Dead By Sunrise mix rock with electro on their debut album, Out Of Ashes.

The album opens with lackluster track Fire, but is followe by album highlight Crawl Back In. This pattern is followed throughout the album, the tracks are either fantastic, fist pumping anthems, such as Inside Of Me and My Suffering, or pathetic boring tripe, such as Let Down or In The Darkness.

There are definitely people that this album will appeal to, but in my opinion, as a whole it’s pretty average. It opens and closes very badly, but there are a few gems hidden inside. It’s worth buying if you see it cheap, but other wise, I’d just download Crawl Back In, My Suffering, Inside Of Me and Condemned.

Anyone else that has been listening to Dead By Sunrise? I really like Chester Bennington’s voice and so glad to finally hear a recorded version of Let Down. I heard it for the first time for about 3-4 years ago. Long time to hear a recorded version of a song.

As most of you may have guessed, I am a massive Linkin Park fan and so thought I’d drop in and write a very brief summary of Chester Bennington’s new band, Dead by Sunrise and their brand new album, ‘Out of Ashes’, that was released on the 12/10/09.

The first time that I played the album I have to say I wasn’t really that impressed. However, the more times that I play it, the more it grows on me. This album really shows Chester spilling out his emotions as he tackles issues that he has faced during his lifetime such as divorce, alcohol addiction and drug use as well as some more positive things such as finding love again and re marriage. The album is ridden with vocal harmonies that really demonstrate the Linkin Park frontman’s talent. Songs such as first single, ‘Crawl Back In’, demonstrate aggression and gritty vocals that are backed by a powerful rock guitar riff that you will be humming all day after listening to it, whilst the more mellow ‘Give Me Your Name’ creates a calming mood that allows the listener to take a break from the sheer vocal power. Album closer, ‘In The Darkness’, once again demonstrates the vocal talent of Bennington through some of the albums most dark and meaningful lyrics and brings the album to a nicely rounded close.

Overall, this album is nowhere near as good as any of Linkin Park’s back catalogue but what would you expect, there is only one sixth of the multi – platinum award winning formula within Dead by Sunrise, however, overall Chester has done really well and has once again proved that he is one of the worlds greatest modern rock singers.

Dead By Sunrise is Chester Bennington from Linkin Park’s side project. The band consists of (besides Chester and Anthony, all members are from a band called Julien-K):

My favourite songs on the album are Fire, Let Down, Give Me Your Name, and Walking In Circles. Give ‘em a listen.

Es war ein irgendwie seltsamer Abend und am Ende ist nicht ganz klar, ob er toll war oder nicht. Eigentlich war er beides. Auf der einen Seite hatte man die seltene Möglichkeit, Linkin Park-Sänger Chester Bennington aus nächster Nähe, in einem kleinen Club und vor gerade mal ein paar Hundert Leuten zu sehen. Das wird nicht mehr oft passieren. Dazu war der Eintritt auch noch frei, Tickets für diesen Showcase gab es nur zu gewinnen.

Auf der anderen Seite aber konnten Dead By Sunrise musikalisch nur bedingt gefallen. Und leider ließ Chester die Chance ungenutzt, die Vorteile einer intimen Clubshow zu nutzen…

Album meenutab natukene Linkin Parki albumit “Minutes to Midnight”, kuhu on juurde lisatud rohkem kitarri riffe ning süngemaid toone. Enamuste laulude puhul ei paista eriti Chester Bennington oma karjumisoskust üles näitavat, vaid üritab laule meloodilise rockina esitleda. Sellega on ta garanteerinud iga laulu mõtte jõudmise kuulajani. Kuulajale, kellele meeldib meloodiline lihtsustatud klassikaline poprock, kus põhirõhk on lüürikale, on Dead by Sunrise “Out of Ashes” just neile. Endal on veel lemmikum laul välja valimata, aga see võiks olla laulude “Fire”, “Too Late”, “Into You” seast.

While some of us have been eagerly awaiting the next installment to the Linkin Park saga, vocalist Chester Bennington has been playing gigs on the side with his new side-project Dead By Sunrise. Some may be familiar with Julien-K, an industrial/electronic band that got recognized on the first Transformers soundtrack a couple years ago. Basically, Dead By Sunrise is what Julien-K becomes when Chester sings lead vocals with the rest of the band. While working diligently on the next LP recording, Bennington and the boys put together their first album, titled Out of Ashes.

Immediately you’ll recognized Chester’s impressive singing voice, and how he’s not straining as much as he usually seems to do when he’s performing with Linkin Park. The Dead By Sunrise album has a certain Minutes To Midnight feel, especially many of the ballads. There’s a certain harder rock feel than the ballads from LP’s previous effort. I was expecting more technical and electronic sounds in the DBS album, but the rock that is presented works for the band. A few standout tracks include the current single “Crawl Back In” which is probably Bennington’s most reaching vocal track, screaming included. “Fire” is a solid intro to the album, while the three hardest songs on the album (“Inside of Me”, “My Suffering”, and “Condemned”) don’t clock in at much over two and a half minutes. Shortness aside, the tracks are solid and have a certain Linkin Park feel, like a b-side from Minutes To Midnight, without Mike Shinoda singing backup.

Bennington proves himself to be an even better vocalist than he lets on, and it will be impressive to see him add some Dead By Sunrise elements into the next Linkin Park record, which is bound to happen. To be honest, it’s odd to see such an established front-man take on another persona, but Bennington pulls it off pretty well. Some of the songs can take on a rather monotonous tone, like “Give Me Your Name” which is too long for its own good, while “End Of The World” has a great synth-rock beat, proving to be one of the best tracks on the 13-track album. Even if you’re not a Linkin Park fan, this release is one to check out and give a chance.

The band’s frontman, Bennington will not compromise his obligations to his other band Linkin Park.

“We’ll make records when we can,” Bennington — who started forming Dead By Sunrise, originally as Snow White Tan, in 2005 — tells Billboard.com. “I don’t think people should expect to see an album every couple of years. I’m definitely not going to tell Linkin Park, ‘Hey, can you guys take some time off so I can go work on Dead By Sunrise?’ That’s not gonna happen. But we definitely see this as something we’ll continue to do. This isn’t a one-time thing for us. Every five years or so I could imagine there’d be a Dead By Sunrise record.”
