<p>Everyone has it burned into his or her psyche at an early age: Stop. Look. Listen. But what if you can’t look and there’s nothing to listen to? Well, Chevrolet has been listening to the appeals of the advocates for the blind and has begun testing a driver-controlled audio warning system for their very own Volt to aid the blind in hearing what might otherwise be a silent danger.</p>

<p>In a reversal of a longstanding goal to reduce vehicle noise, the engineers over at GM are working hard to create a system that alerts pedestrians to the presence of a Volt motoring down the road. When standing still, a conventional car emits approximately 50 decibels of noise, while a full-hybrid that can run on electric power alone rolls along at nearly 0 decibels. Traveling at 10km/h a conventional vehicle will emit around 58 decibels and a hybrid will produce about 50 decibels. For perspective, 50 decibels is equivalent to the amount of ambient noise found in an average home.<br />

<p>At a recent test at its Milford Proving Grounds, a group of blind participants were brought in to help GM test their pedestrian alert system. In its current incarnation the Volt’s horn emits a series of chirps – a process that’s manually controlled by the driver. It doesn’t take much to imagine the challenges of developing an automated system that doesn’t render itself useless (and incredibly noisy) with false positives. Picture a road full of hybrids, all chirping their way through each intersection. According to GM’s spokesman, Rob Peterson, they’re hard at work trying to solve what might seem an intractable problem and hope to realize their goal with the next generation of their alert system. Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Concept – </em></strong></div>
<p>Ever look for something high and low only to find it hiding in plain sight? That&#8217;s how we&#8217;d sum up the latest announcement from General Motors. The company has announced that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/23/2011-buick-regal-first-drive/">the new Buick Regal</a> – based on 2009&#8217;s European Car of the Year, the Opel Insignia – will enter production at the beginning of 2011 at its assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario. There it will join the existing assembly line for the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain crossovers and the Chevy Camaro. 
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>The kicker? General Motors subtly slipped in the announcement that the Camaro Convertible will begin production there as well around the same time. The drop-top pony car was first mooted with the concept unveiled at the 2007 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Detroit-Auto-Show/">Detroit Auto Show</a>, and GM has been <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/20/report-chevrolets-camaro-convertible-delayed-z28-facing-cance/">hemming and hawing</a> about its production prospects ever since. The new 2011 Regal is a midsize sport sedan based on the award-winning Opel Insignia – the 2009 &#8220;European Car of the Year&#8221; – and it brings all of Insignia&#8217;s award-winning design, technology and European-inspired performance capabilities to the North American market.

<p>Production of the new Buick Regal is the latest in a string of positive news for GM manufacturing in Canada including:

<p>* Oshawa Car Plant running maximum overtime since June 2009 that will continue into the new year to keep up with demand for the Chevrolet Camaro<br />
* Production of the Camaro Convertible in Oshawa beginning in Q1 2011<br />
* The recent addition of a 3 rd shift plus scheduled overtime at CAMI Automotive to keep up with strong demand for the all-new Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain<br />
* The investment of $C90 million in CAMI Automotive which will add an additional 40,000 units of capacity to current production and result in full employment at CAMI<br />
* The introduction of flexible transmission production at GM Canada&#8217;s St. Catharines facility beginning with assembly of the fuel-efficient 6-speed front-wheel-drive transmission

<p>The new Buick Regal joins the Chevrolet Camaro and Equinox and the GMC Terrain as the third new vehicle in the production commitment that was part of the agreement with the Canadian and Ontario Governments.

The UAE has been known to be the master of PR in the region, meaning it knows how to put a spin on anything and you have to respect that!</p>

<p>To promote road safety in Abu Dhabi, the police force decided to showcase some of their cavalry. I had learned about the <a href="http://brakebanzeen.wordpress.com/2009/11/21/think-twice-breaking-law/" target="_blank">Skyline</a> only recently, but I had no clue that they had a new Chevy Camaro, a custom Orange County Choppers (OCC) motorcycle dubbed &#8220;The Falcon&#8221;, and an open-wheel race car in full police gear (lights and sirens) called the F999 in their arsenal!</p>
<p>Thumbs up to the Abu Dhabi police for doing something different to raise awareness on the importance of road safety.</p>

Pronto. De um dia para o outro, por causa da melodia e de um peixe que chorava, o Palio Weekend caiu no gosto do povo. As crianças queriam ir às concessionárias conhecê-lo de perto. Assim, uma música ajudou a desbancar a Parati da liderança de mercado.</p>
<p>Não tem como negar. Num país musical como o Brasil, a publicidade automotiva sempre flertou com sons, conhecidos ou inéditos, para dar um empurrãozinho nas vendas. E o que não faltam são exemplos. Qualquer que seja a montadora, dá para fazer CD’s de sucesso somente com os hits utilizados nos comerciais.</p>
<p>Os mais antigos se lembram. Para a Chevrolet, Zé Rodrix criou um dos mais famosos sucessos brasileiros. Cantava <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NE1QKcnODv8">“É no silêncio de um Chevrolet que meu coração bate mais alto”</a> e fazia aumentar as vendas do Chevette e Opala naqueles anos. Mais recentemente, a Nissan ousou ao lançar o Sentra com um falso grupo cantando <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW1wnsLLKT4">“Não tem cara de tiozão, mas acelerou meu coração”.</a> Em ambos os exemplos, as músicas foram especialmente criadas para as montadoras, formato conhecido como jingle. Mas mesmo as músicas de cantores famosos emolduram os lançamentos automotivos.</p>
<p>Os Beatles ajudaram a Chevrolet, autorizando o uso de <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vl9YTiAw4g">“With a little help from my friends”</a> (Com uma pequena ajuda de meus amigos) num comercial da marca. E voltaram às paradas de sucesso com <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tPEJPRQZmU">“Ob-la-di, ob-la-da”</a> no lançamento do Fiat 500. Madonna foi ouvida no comercial do Dobló, cantando “Like a virgin” (Como uma virgem). E os funcionários da Ford, usando a canção dos The Turtles, declararam estar <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuUKTHsBVaw&#38;feature=related">“Happy together”</a> (Felizes juntos) com o novo Focus. Cantando em português, os Engenheiros do Hawaii explicaram que comprar seminovos na rede Chevrolet trazia <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EObzbX2lYss">“Segurança</a>”. Arnaldo Antunes ajudou a Livina X-Gear a dizer que agora tudo pode, com a música <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oBnt4BXO5c&#38;feature=related">“Pequeno cidadão”.</a></p>
<p>Até mesmo o varejo é motivo para se cantar as vantagens das marcas. Fiat já usou Bate Coração, sucesso da Elba Ramalho. Mas nada que se assemelhe a todos os sucessos usados anos a fio pela GM, agora representado por Jorge Bem Jor e seu <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIN25AUzLsg">“Eu sou o Sol”.</a> O mesmo Bem Jor que havia cantado para a Volkswagen <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fQtb9hlinY">“Umbabarauma, homem gol”.</a> Montadora, inclusive, que usa hoje o comediante <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h91clmVTDw4&#38;feature=related">Marcelo Adnet para criar jingles regionais para o varejo de sua rede.</a></p>
<p>Poderia ficar enumerando mais e mais comerciais musicados, tanta é a diversidade de modelos embalados por cantores nacionais e internacionais. Porém, o mais importante é perceber a existência de uma forte ligação entre sons e automóveis. Ela vem de uma característica comum aos dois, nos fazem viver momentos de prazer. E talvez seja isso que os publicitários busquem: transferir o prazer das músicas para os modelos que as embalam. Do meu lado aqui, fico cantando “bi-bi, quero buzinar meu calhambeque”, enquanto dirijo o meu carro. Bye-Bye.</p>

<p>But I&#8217;d still like to be able to drool over the new models and concept cars, so I was happy to learn about the <a title="Arizona International Auto Show" href="http://www.motortrendautoshows.com/phoenix/generalinfo.jsp" target="_blank">Arizona International Auto Show</a>, going on today through Sunday at the Phoenix Convention Center.</p>

The car received 69 out of 100 points, just one point off the maximum five-star rating.</p>

<p>It also performed well in Child Protection tests &#8211; crash test dummies representing 18-month old and 3-year-old children were properly contained in their restraints by the Spark&#8217;s protective shell during side impact tests.</p>
<p>Standard safety equipment in the Chevrolet Spark includes driver, front passenger, side and curtain air bags.  The front seat belts are equipped with pretensioners, while three three-point belts protect rear passengers.</p>
<p>The Chevrolet Spark goes on sale in the UK in spring 2010 and looks set to take the city car market by storm.</p>

<p>O presidente da General Motors do Brasil, Jaime Ardila, tem como meta produzir e vender 1 milhão de carros até o final de 2012. Para isso, contará com o investimento de R$ 5 bilhões para a renovação de toda a linha de produtos da marca Chevrolet. &#8220;Estamos fazendo o trabalho que precisa ser feito, que é o trabalho no produto. Tem que fazer isso com humildade porque esse é um negócio que todos têm bom produto, todos têm boa tecnologia e é o cliente que manda, não são as companhias&#8221;, afirmou Ardila ao G1 em entrevista exclusiva.</p>
<p>Ardila é o primeiro de uma série de entrevistas que o G1 fará com presidentes de montadoras no Brasil.</p>
<p>Ao G1, o executivo também comentou sobre a propaganda do Agile, um carro recém-lançado pela montadora. O anúncio foi apontado como pró-governo, por relembrar pontos positivos da história recente do Brasil. Críticos lembraram que o plano de investimento da montadora, estimado em R$ 5 bilhões, está apoiado em um empréstimo de R$ 450 milhões de uma instituição pública, o Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES). &#8220;Alguns falaram que era uma propaganda aos governos brasileiros, o que achei muito interessante porque são governos de partidos diferentes. Se for assim, ficamos equilibrados, fora da política&#8221;, disse Ardila, lembrando que a peça mostra fatos que ocorreram durante os governos FHC (PSDB, 1995-2002) e Lula (PT, desde 2003).</p>
<p>Com dois projetos nacionais que englobam, pelo menos, o desenvolvimento de seis novos modelos no país, entre eles, o Agile, a General Motors do Brasil conquista a independência da matriz norte-americana, que ainda tenta se recuperar da forte crise que a levou a recorrer à lei de falências dos Estados Unidos. Do total que será investido, R$ 2 bilhões já são aplicados, sendo R$ 1 bilhão do caixa da própria GM do Brasil. O restante é financiado por bancos brasileiros. A filial brasileira também será responsável pela fabricação de dois produtos para os Estados Unidos e Ásia.</p>
<p><strong>Leia a seguir os principais trechos da entrevista</strong></p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> Em relação à propaganda do Agile, ela ressalta os últimos 15 anos de progresso do Brasil. Seria um recado para a matriz, que também tem foco na China e na índia, outros países com forte potencial mercado?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> Alguns falaram que era uma propaganda aos governos brasileiros, o que achei muito interessante porque são governos de partidos diferentes. Se for assim, ficamos equilibrados, fora da política. O Brasil atingiu um patamar novo dentro do cenário mundial nos últimos anos, isso ninguém duvida, o país ficou mais importante e mais atraente para os investidores estrangeiros. Tem uma sólida economia, com crescimento sustentável, isso faz para nós, investidores da indústria automobilística, um país muito mais importante. Já era para a GM um país muito importante, agora virou ainda mais. A propaganda é um paralelo entre a história do Brasil e da Chevrolet. Estamos 85 anos no Brasil, nestes anos tivemos as mesmas alegrias e tristezas dos brasileiros. E hoje estamos na Chevrolet em um patamar de sucesso. Isso justificou os investimentos em um plano de cinco anos, o que precisa de uma confiança muito grande no futuro do Brasil.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> Qual será o próximo lançamento dentro da linha do Agile?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> Fechamos o compromisso de investir R$ 5 bilhões, de 2008 a 2012, para fazer a renovação completa de nosso portfólio de produtos. O primeiro projeto que é o Viva já tem um modelo no mercado, o Agile, e vair ter um segundo modelo durante o terceiro trimestre do próximo ano, que será fabricado em nossa planta de São Caetano do Sul.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> Já pode adiantar se é um sedã, utilitário ou picape?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> Ainda não posso, vamos fazer o anúncio dentro de seis meses, mas posso prometer que terá tanto sucesso quanto o Agile, que está com demanda muito acima das nossas expectativas e, na verdade, acima da capacidade de produção que nós temos na planta de Rosário, na Argentina. Vamos aumentar a produção lá, para isso estamos fazendo investimento adicional. Estamos produzindo 6 mil unidades por mês e vamos tentar aumentar para 8 mil unidades por mês, o que dá além das 25 mil unidades que pensamos para o próximo ano, umas 24 mil a 25 mil unidades a mais.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> E sobre a outra família de modelos, o chamado projeto Ônix?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> A nova família Ônix terá pelo menos dois modelos novos, a ser produzidos na fábrica de Gravataí, no Rio Grande do Sul. O investimento feito lá (de R$ 1,4 bilhão) foi exclusivo para este projeto. Além disso, anunciamos a construção da fábrica de motores de Joinville, vai ser uma planta nova para motores e transmissões, que abastecerá a nova família Onix e, provavelmente, outros modelos. Fizemos também um anúncio em São José dos Campos de investimento de R$ 1 bilhão para dois novos modelos. Sobre quais serão, ainda estão em processo de definição.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> Seria uma picape?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> Nós temos uma responsabilidade em nível global da GM por uma picape. Uma nova picape compacta, na verdade não é compacta, para nós no Brasil seria de tamanho médio.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> É a substituta da S10?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> Não é uma picape para o mercado brasileiro. Vai ser vendida nos Estados Unidos, sem dúvida em alguns países da Ásia e estamos em processo de decisão para o Brasil e para os países do Mercosul, mas ainda não temos essa definição.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> O projeto Ônix trará nova plataforma e motorização. Será o projeto mais importante para o Brasil?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> É uma plataforma nova e moderna, com todos os elementos de segurança, conforto e tecnologia de toda linha nova de produtos da GM em nível global. A motorização ainda está em processo de definição também, esse é um projeto de alto volume. Nós não faríamos no Brasil, especialmente em Gravataí que é uma planta muito grande, produtos de volume pequeno.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> Então seriam compactos?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> Em geral, segmentos de alto volume do mercado, que vão precisar de ampliação da capacidade de 225 mil unidades que temos hoje até, provavelmente, acima de 250 mil unidades, então estamos falando de produtos de muito volume. O Ônix começará em outubro de 2012.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> Esse projeto é desenvolvido na Coreia do Sul?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> Não, esse projeto é desenvolvido aqui no Brasil, no nosso centro tecnológico. Temos uma cooperação muito estreita hoje com o centro tecnológico da Coreia do Sul e da China, além da cooperação que já tínhamos com a Opel (divisão europeia), que continua normal. Mas para os próximos anos o que nós vemos é que a cooperação com a Coreia vai ser muito estreita, porque o tipo de produtos que eles estão fazendo é muito parecido com o nosso.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> Quais são as perspectivas da Chevrolet para trazer carros para o Brasil, já que a valorização do real diante do dólar traz vantagem a este tipo de negócio?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> Hoje estamos trazendo dois produtos importados fora do Mercosul que são o Omega, que vem da Austrália, e a Captiva, do México. A nossa ideia é importar e continuar olhando oportunidades de importação para produtos de volume baixo, ou seja, segmentos que são nichos de mercado, com preços altos. Estamos explorando oportunidades com o México, porque temos acordo comercial com eles e importamos sem impostos, e estamos olhando oportunidades com os Estados Unidos e em outros países também, mas sempre em baixo volume. Eu gostaria de ter um sedã premium dentro da nossa linha de produtos entre o Vectra e o Ômega, e avaliamos várias alternativas. Os SUVs (utilitários esportivos) continuam sendo um segmento interessante para nós e o sucesso da Captiva fez com que o nosso interesse aumentasse. Essas são as duas áreas em que eu falaria que estamos interessados.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> Com a nova cara para a Chevrolet aqui, quais são as perspectivas de produção e vendas para 2012, quando termina os investimentos de renovação de produtos?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> Acredito que a indústria atingirá patamar muito próximo a 4 milhões de unidades, incluindo caminhões e ônibus, para 2012/2013. Como a nossa participação de mercado é de, aproximadamente, 20% estamos falando de 800 mil carros, além do que exportamos. Isso faz com que a meta de produzir e vender um milhão de unidades não esteja muito longe, na verdade, nossa ideia é nos aproximar de um milhão de unidades nessa data.</p>
<p><strong>G1 -</strong> Não foi só a GM que anunciou novos investimentos há pouco. Na semana passada, a Ford disse que vai investir R$ 4 bilhões no Brasil e um dos objetivos é se aproximar da GM, porque existe um “buraco” entre a duas em participação de mercado no Brasil. Vocês vão focar a preocupação em se proteger da Ford ou continuar de olho em Fiat e Volkswagen para puxar o mercado deles?</p>
<p><strong>Jaime Ardila -</strong> Essa é uma pergunta interessante. O buraco que existe entre a Chevrolet e o primeiro do mercado é muito menor do que o buraco que existe entre a Chevrolet e o concorrente que está atrás de nós. Então nosso foco, por enquanto, continua para frente, continua fechando essa diferença que existe entre nós e o líder do mercado. E estamos fazendo o trabalho que precisa ser feito, que é o trabalho no produto. Você tem que fazer isso com humildade porque esse é um negócio que todos têm bom produto e boa tecnologia e é o cliente que manda, não são as companhias. Ao final, nosso esforço é dar para o cliente um produto que esteja além das expectativas e os investimentos estão sendo feitos para nós merecermos a confiança e a preferência dos consumidores. Já temos atingido um patamar muito importante, acho que temos uma base sólida para continuar crescendo.</p>

<p>Loma Performance seems to think that its new BlackforceOne Corvette is somehow evocative of POTUS&#8217; personal airplane. &#8220;Clearly reminiscent,&#8221; they go so far as to say in their press release. (We think the moniker sounds as if could have been the title of a 1970s action film starring Fred Williamson.) Anyway, labored connections to the Prez&#8217;s 747 aside, with the BlackforceOne, Loma appears to have come up with something pretty tasty.</p>
<p>It starts off as a base-engined C6 Vette, which is subsequently twin-turbocharged to make 783 horsepower (794 PS). Of that, a devilish 666 hp (675 PS) or so actually make it to the rear wheels. Accordingly, the sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes a scant 3.4 seconds, and the top speed is 205 mph (330 km/h). The stock brakes are replaced with carbon-ceramic discs all around, and the suspension, wheels, tires, exhaust and other drivetrain components are also upgraded accordingly.</p>
<p>The package is then wrapped in a widebody kit drenched in one of three matte paint finishes. Production will be limited to 25 examples, according to Loma, which will formally unveil the BlackforceOne at the Essen Motor Show.</p>

<p>The name of this vehicle is a show in itself: C6.BlackforceOne. It is clearly reminiscent of the legendary Boeing Air Force One of the United States president &#8211; doubtless no accident by tuner LOMA-Performance. Yet when the C6.BlackforceOne available in Stealth matt black, Eurofighter matt grey and White Storm matt white (other colours on request) comes thundering round the corner, it is soon clear that it more than deserves its name &#8211; and has far more to offer than just an exciting label&#8230;</p>
<p>No less than two metres from outside wheel to outside wheel, the C6.BlackforceOne is based on the &#8220;normal&#8221; Corvette (original width: 179cm) and not on a Z06 or ZR1 model. This means around ten centimetres more on each side and creates a real masculine feel. LOMA-Performance makes no effort to disguise the source of the additional width &#8211; indeed clearly and stylishly displays the carbon fibre wheel arch extensions and carbon fibre side skirts available with or without visible screws: the ultimate racing look. LOMA has installed a carbon fibre front lip and rear diffuser with integrated LED reverse light alongside the extensions, also in carbon fibre. The optional LOMA-Performance rear spoiler with a carbon fibre finish is easy to fit and detach. Circular daytime running lights are an eye-catching feature of the headlights. The front lip, rear diffuser and daytime running lights are incidentally available for all C6 Corvettes, including the Z06 and ZR1.</p>
<p>794 PS with bi-turbo charging</p>
<p>The bi-turbo engine conversion is, however, exclusive to the C6.BlackforceOne and raises an incredible 794 PS from the V8 engine. 675 PS still reach the rear axle after transfer via a LOMA-Performance carbon fibre sports clutch, highly durable carbon fibre drive shafts and an overhauled gear unit; skilled hands are certainly needed at the wheel of the high-speed Corvette. It should hit 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds to furious roars from the LOMA Cup Sport Superlight exhaust unit and reach 330km/h. &#8220;Only&#8221; 330km/h? Yes, that&#8217;s right, because LOMA believes in good acceleration in all situations rather final speed as a status-symbol, and has adjusted the C6.BlackforceOne accordingly.<br />
A propos adjustment: coilover suspension is fitted beneath the body to allow separate adjustment of pressure and rebound damping. Even the stabilisers are adjustable. An extra 8 centimetres&#8217; tread at the front and all of 14 centimetres at the rear ensure the C6 really hugs the road.<br />
The impression of sheer unlimited curve speed is of course also down to the Michelin Sport Cup high performance tyres in the dimensions 275/30R19 and 335/25R20 mounted on 10 x 19 and 12 x 20-inch shining black OZ Racing Ultraleggera HLT alloy wheels.</p>
<p>Racing technology for the road</p>
<p>LOMA-Performance can install a carbon fibre/ceramic brake unit from Mov&#8217;it for brutal deceleration to match the brutal acceleration. This is an impressive 15.5 kilograms lighter on the front axle and 10 kilograms lighter on the rear axle than, say, ZO6 brakes.<br />
In the interior, too, the team headed by Managing Director Mario Radosavljevic have been hard at work creating a great ambience with both technical and luxury features. The door panels, for example, are finished in carbon fibre and sections of the cockpit are covered with Alcantara. C6.BlackforceOne customers can choose from 300 different types of leather. The sports steering wheel &#8211; 34 centimetres in diameter with Alcantara &#8211; is smoothed off on the underside; the refitted seats with shoulder rests are only half as thick as their series equivalents. Special foam ensures these ultimate sports seats are still comfortable and great for long journeys.<br />
All electrical functions have been retained as has full airbag functionality.</p>

O utilitário-esportivo, produzido no México, ganhou duas novas tonalidades de cor e rodas de liga leve redesenhadas. A versão 2010 do SUV já está chegando aos concessionários da marca, com preços partindo de R$ 86.990 (2.4 Ecotec).</p>
<p><!--more-->As novidades do Captiva, no entanto, chegam somente na versão equipada com motor V6. As rodas de liga leve, de 17 polegadas, foram redesenhadas. Há também a cor cinza Cyber como nova opção. Para o modelo com tração nas quatro rodas (AWD), a nova tonalidade é o branco Ice. Já o 4&#215;2 passa a ter bancos com revestimento em couro de série.</p>
<p>Além do Ecotec, os preços do Captiva partem de R$ 100.139 (3.6 V6 4&#215;2) e 105.758 (3.6 V6 4&#215;4).</p>

É o que a GM está fazendo com os kits de personalização Energy e Geo. O primeiro pode ser adquirido para o Celta e para o Corsa, já o segundo é exclusivo da Meriva.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;">Vendidos como acessórios, os kits servem em qualquer versão desses  carros, não precisam de furos e são instalados nas concessionárias, uma maneira conveniente de a GM levar  clientes para as lojas da rede.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;">No Celta, o kit Energy custa R$ 1 526 para o 2 portas e R$ 1 586 para o 4 portas, e inclui spoilers, saias, aerofólio, detalhes na cor grafite, adesivos “Energy”, ponteira de escapamento e lâmpadas Blue Vision, para dar um toquezinho meio “xenônio”.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;">No Corsa, o mesmo kit sai por R$ 1 973, mas acrescenta faróis de neblina com a tal lâmpada azulada. Ah, sim, as lanternas são fumês. Já a minivan Meriva, segundo a GM, “ganhou um visual mais off-road” que consiste em f</span><span style="color:#000000;">azer o mesmo que o kit Energy, mas com o logo “Geo”, com detalhes em verde. <p>Os veículos movidos a álcool estão entre os mais poluidores, segundo ranking do Ministério do Meio Ambiente divulgado em setembro deste ano.</p>
<p>Apesar de o governo considerar que eles têm um combustível mais limpo, e por isso prorrogar o desconto do IPI (Imposto sobre Produtos Industrializados) até março, os carros a álcool ocupam oito das 15 piores posições &#8211; alguns com motor flex.</p>
<p>Foram feitas 250 avaliações de veículos leves produzidos em 2008 &#8211; os automóveis flex, que representam 85% da frota comercializada no país em 2008, tiveram duas avaliações diferentes, uma para gasolina e outra para álcool.</p>
<p>Foram dadas notas de um (piores) a dez (melhores) para a emissão de três gases poluidores &#8211; monóxido de carbono, hidrocarbonetos e óxidos de nitrogênio &#8211; que não têm efeito sobre o aquecimento do planeta, mas afetam a saúde.</p>
<p>Essas notas, chamadas de verdes, não levam em conta a emissão de gás carbônico &#8211; CO2, o principal gás causador do efeito estufa.</p>
<p>Nesse ranking das notas verdes, o melhor desempenho foi do Focus 2.0, da Ford, movido a gasolina, com nota 9,4. O pior desempenho foi do Corsa 1.4, da Chevrolet, quando movido a gasolina. Apenas oito carros obtiveram notas superiores a nove, liderando a lista dos menos poluentes.</p>
<p>As notas foram baseadas em informações colhidas durante o licenciamento dos veículos. Todos os modelos avaliados observam, portanto, os limites máximos de emissão adotados no país em 2008. Em janeiro, esses limites tornaram-se mais rigorosos. Novos limites entrarão em vigor em 2014.</p>

<p>O artifício das séries especiais agrada gregos &#38; troianos. Geralmente, o veículo recebe pacotes de equipamentos e alguns itens inovadores e exclusivos, diferenciando-o do modelo original. A General Motors, por exemplo, chega o fim do ano com novidades nos modelos Celta, Corsa e Meriva. Os três veículos ganham novas séries especiais. São elas: Celta Energy, Corsa Energy e Meriva Geo.</p>
<p>Os Chevrolet Celta e Corsa Energy têm um estilo &#8220;Sport Light&#8221;, com acessórios esportivos. Já o Meriva Geo recebeu componentes que conferem ao modelo um visual &#8220;off-road&#8221;. </p>
<p>O Chevrolet Celta Energy vem equipado com itens que o deixam bastante exclusivo e com apelo mais esportivo, tais como aeroparts (saias laterais, spolier dianteiro e traseiro, e aerofólio), peças em acabamento &#8220;Grafite&#8221; (calotas, por exemplo), adesivos da Coluna &#8220;B&#8221;, moldura da grade e ponteira de escapamento cromadas, adesivos alusivos à série, além de lâmpadas &#8220;Blue Vision&#8221;. </p>
<p>O Chevrolet Corsa Energy também segue a mesma linha, ganhando o ar de esportividade, graças aos aeroparts, adesivos nas colunas &#8220;C&#8221; e &#8220;B&#8221;, faixas laterais e adesivos no parachoque alusivos à série e escapamento cromado. No entanto, ele incorpora faróis de neblina também com as lâmpadas &#8220;Blue Vision&#8221;, além do aerofólio em acabamento &#8220;Grafite&#8221;, integrando o visual com as lanternas fumês. </p>
<p>O preço público sugerido do Celta Energy é de R$ 1.526 (duas portas) e de R$ 1.586 (quatro portas), enquanto para o Corsa Energy é de R$ 1.973. Já para o Meriva Geo o preço público sugerido é de R$ 2.990. </p>

Mercedes-Benz was able to increase sales significantly in October by seven percent to 88,400 units (October 2008: 82,500. The smart brand sold 9,300 (October 2008: 11,300) units (minus 18 percent). With the delivery of 97,700 passenger cars (October 2008: 93,800), total sales at Mercedes-Benz Cars increased by four percent. The October sales increase was due to the E-Class and the new generation of the S-Class as well as to high growth rates in many regions such as North America and Asia/Pacific. Sales of Mercedes-Benz vehicles were also above last year&#8217;s level in Western Europe.</span></p>
<p><span class="fullpost"><br />&#8220;We will continue this positive trend in the coming months, and we expect sales in the fourth quarter to be above the level of the same period of last year,&#8221; said Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Head of Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars. Contributing to this development will be the new E-Class and the new generation S-Class, as well as the ongoing strong growth rates in the Asia/Pacific region, particularly in China. By the end of September, Mercedes-Benz had already sold more vehicles in China than in all of last year. Says Schmidt: &#8220;Mercedes-Benz Cars will continue to grow at a dynamic rate in China, and we expect the increase for 2009 as a whole to amount to more than 50 percent.&#8221; </p>
<p>In October Mercedes-Benz once again set a sales record in China, with sales rising by 78 percent to 6,600 units (October 2008: 3,700). As a result, since the start of the year, Mercedes-Benz has been the fastest-growing premium brand in China. In October, Mercedes-Benz Cars also delivered more vehicles than ever before to the Asia/Pacific region as a whole, handing over 14,100 passenger vehicles to customers (October 2008: 10,500) for an increase of 34 percent. High growth rates were also posted in October in Australia (up 22 percent) and South Korea (up 63 percent).</p>
<p>In the United States, October was the best month of the year so far for Mercedes-Benz. Sales bucked the general market trend, rising by 21 percentto 18,200 units (October 2008: 15,000). This was the first time this year that sales were substantially higher than in 2008, and ensured that Mercedes-Benz remains the strongest German premium brand in the U.S. Contributing factors here included the E-Class, deliveries of which tripled to 6,100 units, and the GLK, which was once again the best-selling vehicle in its class in October, with deliveries of 1,800 units. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz posted another sales record in Canada in October, increasing customer deliveries by 28 percent to 2,200 passenger vehicles (October 2008: 1,700).</p>
<p>In the Western Europe region (not including Germany), Mercedes-Benz increased its sales by seven percent in October, thanks in particular to the high increases for the new E-Class. The brand enjoyed strong growth amounting to 55 percent in the UK, with a total of 5,800 units sold. </p>
<p>Sales of new E-Class continued to develop positively in the past month, with worldwide deliveries doubling in October to 17,100 units. Double-digit sales increases were registered in almost all markets. That made it once again the clear market leader in its segment. The company expects the launch of the new station wagon, which can be seen at dealerships starting on November 21, to give an additional positive boost to the E-Class family. </p>
<p>The new generation of the S-Class also got off to a successful start. Worldwide sales of the S-Class sedan were slightly above the previous year&#39;s level. Since the beginning of this year, the sedan has been the best-selling sedan in its segment. In China, which is now the biggest market for the S-Class, 1,100 luxury sedans were delivered to customers in October alone, which represents an increase of 12 percent. The sedan also sold very well in Germany, with an increase of 42 percent, and in Japan, where October sales increased by 13 percent. Mercedes-Benz sold 15,100 units of its SUVs worldwide (2008: 14,800), with an increase of two percent. The GLK, which was especially popular, enjoyed mainly double-digit growth rates in the Western European markets.</p>

Sales of Mercedes-Benz vehicles were also above last year&#8217;s level in Western Europe.</i></b></p>
<p>&#8220;We will continue this positive trend in the coming months, and we expect sales in the fourth quarter to be above the level of the same period of last year,&#8221; said Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Head of Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars. Contributing to this development will be the new E-Class and the new generation S-Class, as well as the ongoing strong growth rates in the Asia/Pacific region, particularly in China. By the end of September, Mercedes-Benz had already sold more vehicles in China than in all of last year. Says Schmidt: &#8220;Mercedes-Benz Cars will continue to grow at a dynamic rate in China, and we expect the increase for 2009 as a whole to amount to more than 50 percent.&#8221; </p>
<p>In October Mercedes-Benz once again set a sales record in China, with sales rising by 78 percent to 6,600 units (October 2008: 3,700). As a result, since the start of the year, Mercedes-Benz has been the fastest-growing premium brand in China. In October, Mercedes-Benz Cars also delivered more vehicles than ever before to the Asia/Pacific region as a whole, handing over 14,100 passenger vehicles to customers (October 2008: 10,500) for an increase of 34 percent. High growth rates were also posted in October in Australia (up 22 percent) and South Korea (up 63 percent).</p>
<p>In the United States, October was the best month of the year so far for Mercedes-Benz. Sales bucked the general market trend, rising by 21 percentto 18,200 units (October 2008: 15,000). This was the first time this year that sales were substantially higher than in 2008, and ensured that Mercedes-Benz remains the strongest German premium brand in the U.S. Contributing factors here included the E-Class, deliveries of which tripled to 6,100 units, and the GLK, which was once again the best-selling vehicle in its class in October, with deliveries of 1,800 units. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz posted another sales record in Canada in October, increasing customer deliveries by 28 percent to 2,200 passenger vehicles (October 2008: 1,700).</p>
<p>In the Western Europe region (not including Germany), Mercedes-Benz increased its sales by seven percent in October, thanks in particular to the high increases for the new E-Class. The brand enjoyed strong growth amounting to 55 percent in the UK, with a total of 5,800 units sold. </p>
<p>Sales of new E-Class continued to develop positively in the past month, with worldwide deliveries doubling in October to 17,100 units. Double-digit sales increases were registered in almost all markets. That made it once again the clear market leader in its segment. The company expects the launch of the new station wagon, which can be seen at dealerships starting on November 21, to give an additional positive boost to the E-Class family. </p>
<p>The new generation of the S-Class also got off to a successful start. Worldwide sales of the S-Class sedan were slightly above the previous year&#39;s level. Since the beginning of this year, the sedan has been the best-selling sedan in its segment. In China, which is now the biggest market for the S-Class, 1,100 luxury sedans were delivered to customers in October alone, which represents an increase of 12 percent. The sedan also sold very well in Germany, with an increase of 42 percent, and in Japan, where October sales increased by 13 percent. Mercedes-Benz sold 15,100 units of its SUVs worldwide (2008: 14,800), with an increase of two percent. The GLK, which was especially popular, enjoyed mainly double-digit growth rates in the Western European markets.</p>

<p>	For 2010 the Legacy looks more aggressive and sporty. The headlights are angled more, the character lines create a more muscular look, along with bigger wheel arches. The Legacy has a more modern, mainstream, Japanese appearance. It will be more competitive in the midsize sedan segment, but it&#39;s aggressive styling wouldn&#39;t look at home in a forest carrying mountain bikes like the old Legacy did.</p>
<p>While the exterior doesn&#39;t give thoughts of the usual Subaru activities of hiking and kayaking, the interior gives impressions of a more mainstream midsize sedan at home in mall parking lots. Comfortably designed for the driver and passenger with easy to use controls, soft cream leather seats, and class leading passenger space. Steering wheel controls are standard on the 2.5i Limited are well laid out and easy for the driver to use. Subaru&#39;s shortcomings in quality with their use of hard plastic, flimsy door panels, and cheap wood trim left me disappointed, while the previous generation Legacy excelled in quality.</p>
<p>Subaru has used it&#39;s new Lineartronic CVT transmission in the new Legacy. It provides a very smooth drive with gearshifts that are as smooth as a hot knife through butter. The paddle shifters are possibly the easiest I&#39;ve ever used for manual shifting and coupled with the CVT provide a smooth ride. The base 2.5 liter engine feels very underpowered. Subaru&#39;s have been known to have a tighter suspension and this Legacy is completely different. The drive feels more like an everyday sedan focused more on driver comfort than a Subaru has ever been. Everyday driving is more polished and tranquilizing than the previous generation Legacy. I took the Legacy through some winding country roads where Subarus usually shine, and was very surprised. Clumsiness and body roll plagued the Legacy like an old woman without her walker. The 2.5 liter 170 hp engine made the Legacy feel underpowered and heavy. The other two optional 256 or 265 hp engines would make the Legacy feel more capable for everyday driving. Even with Subaru&#39;s all wheel drive system it felt as though it lacked Subaru&#39;s willingness to go off road, instead focusing on a smooth and comfortable drive for those city folk.</p>
<p>The redesigned Legacy is a Subaru aimed more towards a mainstream market. It&#39;s comfortable ride and cabin make for a pleasing highway and city drive. Aggressive styling coupled with it&#39;s soft ride may scare away some loyal Subaru owners and attract a different buyer. The Legacy lacks what makes Subaru a Subaru. It has evolved into a mainstream car, one that won&#39;t be found driving through dirt trails or going on camping trips, instead will be at home on highways and city streets.</p>
