“Las fiestas de barra libre son el nuevo antro…”

A- Como primera opcion les presentamos una fiesta Revolver 357, la cual en esta ocasion nos trae un evento con 3 escenarios (psycho, house y reggeaton) una combinacion un poco rara, pero el punto es atraer a toda la raza y complacerles sus gustos, aun asi la de la vez pasada estuvo chida.

B- Otro evento de Follow en esta ocasion ahora sacaran una parte nueva del Lienzo Charro y como dato extra un buen amigo de Buffete estara pinchando alli.

C- No lo podran creer! otra fiesta de barra libre! pero en esta ocasion el que organiza esta fiesta es… un antro?… un antrito para ser exactos, a lo mejor les gusta variar en cuanto hacer eventos.

Agronegocios en la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua

Una interesante lista de posgrados ofrece la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua a través de su Facultad de Ciencias Agrícolas y Forestales.

Destaca la Maestría en Ciencias en Agronegocios, Maestría en Ciencias en Horticultura, Maestría en Ciencias en Desarrollo Forestal Sustentable y la Maestría en Agronegocios, ésta última considerada en el Padrón Nacional de Posgrado y apoyada con becas CONACyT.

El periodo de entrega de postulaciones inició el pasado 3 de noviembre y culminará el 10 de diciembre.

El examen de admisión tendrá lugar el viernes 11 de diciembre en la misma casa universitaria y el periodo de inscripción regirá del 19 al 23 de enero del próximo año.

La Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua destaca que el enfoque de estos programas de posgrado se orienta a las áreas de ciencia y tecnología como, por ejemplo, la situación actual y proyección, fundamentos, plantación estratégica y desarrollo eficiente y sostenible de los agronegocios.

In der Audi-Sleepless-Night haben wir Carla in Soni’s Sprachschule kennengelernt. Sie ist auch Brasilianerin und lebt schon mehrere Jahre in den USA. Sie macht in der Schule einen Spanisch-Kurs, da hier in Miami sehr viel Spanisch gesprochen wird.

Sie hat uns zusammen mit ihrem Wohnungs-Partner Antonio zu einem Thanksgiving Abendessen eingeladen. Wir waren sehr froh, dass wir ein traditionelles Thanksgiving Abendessen mitmachen konnten.

Antonio und Carla wohnen im 22. Stock eines 24 stöckingen Apartmenthauses. Wow, eine tolle Aussicht hat man von da oben. Wir waren überwältigt. Sie haben einen großen Balkon mit bequemen Sofas von denen man über Miami Beach schauen kann. Wirklich klasse.

Das Essen war auch spitze. Antonio ist von Beruf Koch. Es war köstlich.

Es gab ein typisches Thanksgiving Essen: Truthahn mit Beilagen nationaler Gerichte. Antonio steht vorne rechts. Hinter Antonio ist ein guter Freund von Antonio, Brian aus Colorado. Carla hat einen kleinen Chihuahua mit dem Namen Sol.

Es musste natürlich auch auf Thanksgiving angestossen werden.

Als Nachtisch gab es eine Art karamelisierten Apfelstrudel (ich kann es nicht besser beschreiben) mit Vanilleeis. Köstlich!

CITTA’ DEL MESSICO – Sono almeno 53 le persone rimaste vittima dell’ondata di violenza scatenata nelle ultime 24 ore in Messico dai cartelli narcos.

Il cartello ‘La Familia de Michoacan’ è l’organizzazione principale sospettata di essere responsabile di gran parte delle vittime, come vendetta per l’arresto di uno dei propri capi.

Di fronte agli attacchi dei narcos in diverse province del paese (Chihuahua, Michoacan, Nuevo Leon, Guanajuato, Sinaloa, Durango, Guerrero, Mexico, Jalisco), il presidente Felipe Calderon ha convocato nelle ultime ore una task force d’emergenza, sottolineando che “i criminali non riusciranno ad intimidire il governo federale”.

Nonostante la polizia non abbia ancora individuato un responsabile certo, il principale sospettato è il cartello ‘La Familia’, al quale vengono attribuiti anche i 12 morti del massacro di lunedì, i quali sono stati recentemente identificati come agenti di polizia.

Due di loro, aderenti al Partido Revolucionario de los Trabajadores (Prt), avevano già procedimenti penali a loro carico, ma questo non giustifica l’azione violenta della polizia, che di fronte ai loro figli li ha picchiati e trascinati via con la forza senza dare informazioni sul luogo dove sarebbero stati incarcerati (sembra la capitale dello stato di Campeche).

I cinque arrestati sono esponenti della rete nazionale di resistenza civile contro le alte tariffe di energia elettrica sorto nel maggio di quest’anno in 7 stati messicani (Campeche, Chiapas, Distrito Federal, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Chihuahua) e che ha raccolto, tra gli altri, l’adesione di organizzazioni vicine all’Altra Campagna Zapatista, movimenti indigeni e contadini, centri che si occupano di diritti umani.

Sotto la presidenza di López Mateos (presidente del Messico tra il 1958 e il 1964), il servizio di tariffa elettrica aveva un prezzo accessibile e allo stesso tempo era sufficiente per le necessità agricole e industriali di cui necessitava la popolazione, spiegano gli attivisti della rete di resistenza.

E’ in questo contesto che è sorto il Movimiento de Resistencia contra las Altas Tarifas de Luz Eléctrica, che fin dall’inizio ha cercato di creare una rete nazionale che permesso l’interscambio di esperienze, iniziative e una vera e propria attività di mutuo soccorso ben sintetizzata nel principio “si tocan a unos, tocan a todos”.

Just think about the title. The whole movie plot is right there. Every movie with ‘Beverly Hills’ in the title features a character or characters that are wealthy, arrogant, pampered, and disgusted by the idea of physical labor. But by the end of the movie, these characters have adjusted to a perky, more reasonable version of their past selves. They now do physical labor, like digging a trench, but they do it with a pink shovel. Such is the case with Chloe, the Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Chloe’s owner, a high-rolling cosmetics company founder played by Jamie Lee Curtis, is supposedly very busy, but not too busy to dress her dog up like a child beauty pageant contestant. When a business trip commands her presence overseas, she’s forced to entrust her most prized possession to her air-headed niece, Rachel. Rachel and Chloe don’t get along because they are exactly alike. When Rachel and her friends take an impromptu trip to Mexico, Chloe is kidnapped by a mustached man for his underground dog-fighting ring. The rest of the movie follows Rachel and Chloe as they try to find each other in time before the chihuahua’s owner comes home.

Will they find each other? Of course they will! It’s a Disney movie for crying out loud!

The talking animations are good, but the flow of talking animals gets thrown off when Chloe runs into a completely animated iguana and rat. They break up the realistic animation with their over-the-top movements, and it feels like they were added last minute just so Cheech Marin could get some voice work in.

Drew Barrymore voices Chloe, and frankly, a dog is too smart for her voice. Sure, the prissy purebred is snooty and oblivious to what the unwashed commoners refer to as ‘work,’ but Drew’s voice is better suited for a single-cell organism, or at best an earthworm.

The Chloe character isn’t one to like as much as one to pity. All the animals that help her along the way do so because they feel sorry for her. All in all she’s unlikeable, despite, or because of, her zippy one-liners and goofy outfits.

Philip Caputo has been writing about war and the corruption of war since his Vietnam memoir, A Rumor of War, first appeared in 1977.  As a Chicago Tribune reporter, that includes the generally bloodless — but highly corrupting — world of Chicago politics.

In the December 2009 The Atlantic Caputo turns his attention to the “War on Drugs” in Mexico.

I have a problem with the title — “The Fall of Mexico” — suggesting first that the Calderón-Bush-Obama Administrations “War” is central to the Republic (only to the present administration) or that the authoritarian streak in the present Mexican government is somehow a product of this war.

While Caputo, of course, is going to focus on the “drug warriors”, their victims and the “collateral damage” of this war, he — like most writers — only focuses on the Mexican side of the border region.  He never seems to venture further south than Nuevo Casas Grandes, a couple of hours south of Columbus, New Mexico.  At most, he’s talking about a frontier “war”.  This isn’t to say that the people living along the border are not part of the “real Mexico”, but that the social conditions along the frontier are not necessarily those of the majority of Mexicans, nor that everyone along the border is affected with despair and hopelessness (Mexicans have a sense of black humor which accounts for some of the grafitti Caputo quotes as meaningful).

Caputo’s premise that the “War” is has created repression and corruption (or has allowed it to flourish), seem to put the cart before the horse.  Although Calderón’s electoral victory is problematic, he did receive a little over a third of all votes in the 2006 Election, campaigning on an authoritarian “law and order” platform that presupposed state sanctioned violence.  The border region strongly supported PAN, so there is no denying that there wasn’t already support for a heavy-handed “solution” in search of a problem.

While “corruption” has risen (at least by the standards of Transparency International) under this administration, the increase in perceived corruption may be independent of the “drug war” excesses.

Neither of which is to say that Caputo’s article is off-target.  It isn’t.  Consider WHO the casualties are in this “war”:

Statements by U.S. and Mexican government officials, repeated by a news media that prefers simple story lines, have fostered the impression in the United States that the conflict in Mexico is between Calderón’s white hats and the crime syndicates’ black hats. The reality is far more complicated, as suggested by this statistic: out of those 14,000 dead, fewer than 100 have been soldiers. Presumably, army casualties would be far higher if the war were as straightforward as it’s often made out to be.

And, I’d add, a good number of those military casualties have been the victims of “friendly fire”, plane and truck accidents and the like.  Perhaps, the “war” should not be seen as “asymetical warfare” — or even a police operation gone amuck — but, as Caputo quotes Gustavo de la Rosa, the former Chihuahua state ombudsman for Mexico’s National Human Rights Commission, as saying, as a creeping military coup:

… the president, elected in 2006 by a margin as thin as an ATM card, called out the army not merely to fight the cartels and eliminate a threat to national sovereignty but to consolidate his power and confer legitimacy on his presidency. “Calderón wants to show the Congress that the military is with him,” de la Rosa said. “And the military promised to support Calderón in exchange for being allowed out of the barracks, because the army wants to govern. Chihuahua is an experiment. What is happening here is in essence a military coup, a regional coup.” To support this contention, he cited a change he has had to make in his own work. Under normal circumstances, he would file complaints of abuse with the state governor, but now, he said, “the governor is ineffective, so I have to go to General Felipe de Jesús Espitia, the comandante of the 5th Military District.”

The militarization of Mexico is noticeable.  Calderón is the first president to be regularly photographed in a military uniform since Manuel Ávila Camacho, who was a real Army General, and was the president during a declared war (the War against Nazifascism, as it’s styled here).  Ávila Camacho also demilitarized the government (being the last general to serve as President) and — while the military certainly has been used for political repression since the Second World War — the generally high regard for the military in Mexican society rests largely on its apolitical and non-aggressive missions: resource and environmental protection and disaster relief.

And, give Vicente Fox his due… he overtly toned down militarism, going so far as to try canceling the annual Revolution Day parade in Mexico City — succeeding in at least making the patriotic (and impressive) exercise less a display of firepower and military might, as a celebration of sports and health.  After all, we’re talking about a nation where the tanks and missiles and scarily-armed paratroopers are impressive, but the crowds cheer for the Army cooks, the navy nurses and the kids in the Servicio Militar Nacional carrying shovels and seedlings.  And where the national service requirement crosses most 18-year olds minds as meaning clerking in a government office, or going door to door as a census taker or planting trees… not carrying a gun.

That anti-militarist strain is coming to the surface.  It’s not so much weariness with the “war”, nor the occasional admissions that the Army is being used to repress not just some gangsters, but political and social dissent as well that is making people turn from the military solution.  It is one factor in the rejection of PAN and President Calderón at the polling booth, and a likely factor in a return to the “corrupt” but more mainstream PRI (or a compromise left candidate) in the 2012 Presidential election.

What will not rein in the military are renewed U.S. “demands” for “human rights accountability” in the funding for the Merida Initiative.  As I explained when the issue was first raised, the Mexican objection is that such strings would require Mexico to centralize its police — and major constitutional changes that would simply entrench the Federal government’s present attempts to reverse the trend toward wider democratic and citizen participation and leave it in the hands of “experts” in the Capital.

The U.S. financed “war” in Colombia has not improved human rights, nor spread democracy in that unhappy nation.  While Colombia’s situation is complicated by a sixty-year old civil war that has gotten mixed in with that nation’s best known illegal export, “human rights provisions” have a way of corrupting the central power to create the illusion of “progress”… and to create their own upside down logic — making dissent, on paper if not reality, equal to criminality, to meet the demands that repression is progress in creating human rights.

The idea that the Merida Initiative was for Mexico’s benefit is nonsense.  The money goes to business interests in the United States.  The tools for repression fo to the present administration in Mexico and the rest of us live with the results.

Wow, we just weren’t ready for you Sunny. We’ve never had an alpha female in the house.  Here we were, foster family spoiled with Miss Josie and Sunny comes over.  Oh how she asserted her dominance quickly.  She was here to rule the roost, or at least one dog and two kitties – she wasn’t going to boss me around, she just didn’t know it yet.

At first glance, you’d think Chihuahua, but think twice the size and spunk.  Sunny snooped around those first few hours, jumping up on me, running away just so I knew she didn’t care that I wanted to pet her, growling and snapping at Pebbles. Oh she was in for a treat.

She ignored me. That is until she heard that scoop hit the dog food.  She was mine.  First step to asserting dominance – food control.  You do not jump on me for food, you do not rush at the bowl, you do not scarf it down. She ate in her crate.  Then, to the leash.  She would learn that I’m a patient one – I will wait until she obeys.  Nope, she wouldn’t sit. Not yet.  Sunny’s a stubborn one.

That night, spent in a crate – she let us know just how unhappy she was there.  Determined to be let out of that crate, every hour or so she’d start to whine.  Not just any ole whine, this whine was so shrill and loud that I could hear her in the kitchen beneath us and at the back of the house.  At 3 – we moved her to the garage.  Didn’t do much to help.  Two nights later, she was tied to the dog bed at the foot of the bed – not a peep.  She even sits there quietly in the morning until I’m ready to let her loose.

Sunny has a long way to go.  Pebbles will be a great help there.  Coming from a house full of precious little Chi’s and other fosters, she had tons of love and lots of play time, but as an alpha dog – she needed more one-on-one time obedience training so that she can be the best adopted pup she can be.

Sin hacer alusión a la grave situación de inseguridad que priva en Chihuahua y en Ciudad Juárez, en donde grupos de comerciantes establecidos han pedido a la ONU el envío de los ‘cascos azules’ para contrarrestar el avance del crimen organizado, el presidente Felipe Calderón realizó hace dos días un viaje relámpago a la capital de esa entidad, bajo un fuerte dispositivo de seguridad pocas veces visto y que cada vez es más frecuente en los sitios a los que asiste.

El jefe del Ejecutivo inauguró nuevas instalaciones de la Ford, las cuales se vieron fuertemente custodiadas por militares, policías federales y estatales; se trató de un dispositivo de seguridad que abarcó no sólo la planta automotriz sino varias manzanas alrededor. Por la movilización que se vio desde temprana hora los lugareños creyeron que se trataba de uno más de los opertativos que se dan a diario en ese estado contra los carteles de la droga.

Y es que el temor está a flor de piel en esa entidad. Ante el incremento de la violencia en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, los empresarios locales pidieron la semana pasada que la ONU envíe a esa población fronteriza sus fuerzas militares de paz conocidas como ‘cascos azules’, pero el representante de la oficina de la ONU contra la Droga y el Delito, Antonio Mazzitelli, descartó la petición para combatir el crimen organizado en Chihuahua.

Pero de eso, ni una palabra por parte del Presidente en su visita a Chihuahua. Él iba a otra cosa y no quiso espantar a los inversionistas de la Ford con nimiedades ni catastrofismos. Para Héctor González, presidente del Colegio de Abogados de Ciudad Juárez, la visita del presidente Calderón pareció una “tomadura de pelo”.

Añadió: “Esto es una burla. Vivimos en un clima de terror y el responsable es el presidente Felipe Calderón. No está funcionando la estrategia contra el crimen organizado, porque no hay operaciones de inteligencia y la fuerza pública sólo aparece como reacción a los crímenes”, según dijo a BBC Mundo.

Uno de cada cuatro homicidios violentos se cometen en esa localidad, a causa de enfrentamientos entre los más poderosos cárteles de la droga, que se disputan el control de un punto como es Ciudad Juárez que colinda con El Paso, Texas, clave en el trasiego de estupefacientes hacia Estados Unidos, según fuentes oficiales.

La inseguridad ha transformado la vida comercial de Ciudad Juárez al grado que muchos empresarios están huyendo y optan por invertir al otro lado de la frontera, en El Paso, donde las autoridades estadounidenses les ofrecen garantías de seguridad que de este lado no encuentran. Las estadísticas hablan de que Juárez -poblada con 1.3 millones de habitantes- es la ciudad más violenta de México y tiene un índice de más de 150 homicidios por cada 100 mil habitantes.

Más de 2,400 ejecuciones en lo que va del año han convertido a ese estado norteño en uno de los lugares más violentos del planeta. A los homicidios se suman los altos índices de secuestros y extorsiones, que han aumentado especialmente en la fronteriza Ciudad Juárez, pese a la presencia de más de 8.000 militares desplegados por el gobierno para enfrentar al crimen organizado.

Pero el Ejército mexicano no está hecho para realizar ese rol policial contra las mafias del narco, que deben enfrentar a los ejércitos de los carteles de la droga. Menos las policías municipales que son bastante susceptibles a la corrupción. La estela de muertes por esos enfrentamientos rebasa ya los15 mil decesos según coinciden diiversas fuentes, desde que el jefe del Ejecutivo le declaró la guerra a los capos de la droga al inicio de su mandato.

Por lo pronto, los juarenses y quienes habitan en entidades donde hay guerra de fuerzas gubernamentales contra el narcotráfico, tendrán que olvidarse de los ‘cascos azules’ de la ONU. Habrán de conformarse con la presencia de los cascos verdes que dependen de la Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, que con gran estoicismo han tenido que jugarse la vida teniendo que realizar una labor que constitucionalmente no les corresponde.

Sin hacer alusión a la grave situación de inseguridad que priva en Chihuahua y en Ciudad Juárez, en donde grupos de comerciantes establecidos han pedido a la ONU el envío de los ‘cascos azules’ para contrarrestar el avance del crimen organizado, el presidente Felipe Calderón realizó hace dos días un viaje relámpago a la capital de esa entidad, bajo un fuerte dispositivo de seguridad pocas veces visto y que cada vez es más frecuente en los sitios a los que asiste.

El jefe del Ejecutivo inauguró nuevas instalaciones de la Ford, las cuales se vieron fuertemente custodiadas por militares, policías federales y estatales; se trató de un dispositivo de seguridad que abarcó no sólo la planta automotriz sino varias manzanas alrededor. Por la movilización que se vio desde temprana hora los lugareños creyeron que se trataba de uno más de los opertativos que se dan a diario en ese estado contra los carteles de la droga.

Y es que el temor está a flor de piel en esa entidad. Ante el incremento de la violencia en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, los empresarios locales pidieron la semana pasada que la ONU envíe a esa población fronteriza sus fuerzas militares de paz conocidas como ‘cascos azules’, pero el representante de la oficina de la ONU contra la Droga y el Delito, Antonio Mazzitelli, descartó la petición para combatir el crimen organizado en Chihuahua.

Pero de eso, ni una palabra por parte del Presidente en su visita a Chihuahua. Él iba a otra cosa y no quiso espantar a los inversionistas de la Ford con nimiedades ni catastrofismos. Para Héctor González, presidente del Colegio de Abogados de Ciudad Juárez, la visita del presidente Calderón pareció una “tomadura de pelo”.

Añadió: “Esto es una burla. Vivimos en un clima de terror y el responsable es el presidente Felipe Calderón. No está funcionando la estrategia contra el crimen organizado, porque no hay operaciones de inteligencia y la fuerza pública sólo aparece como reacción a los crímenes”, según dijo a BBC Mundo.

Uno de cada cuatro homicidios violentos se cometen en esa localidad, a causa de enfrentamientos entre los más poderosos cárteles de la droga, que se disputan el control de un punto como es Ciudad Juárez que colinda con El Paso, Texas, clave en el trasiego de estupefacientes hacia Estados Unidos, según fuentes oficiales.

La inseguridad ha transformado la vida comercial de Ciudad Juárez al grado que muchos empresarios están huyendo y optan por invertir al otro lado de la frontera, en El Paso, donde las autoridades estadounidenses les ofrecen garantías de seguridad que de este lado no encuentran. Las estadísticas hablan de que Juárez -poblada con 1.3 millones de habitantes- es la ciudad más violenta de México y tiene un índice de más de 150 homicidios por cada 100 mil habitantes.

Más de 2,400 ejecuciones en lo que va del año han convertido a ese estado norteño en uno de los lugares más violentos del planeta. A los homicidios se suman los altos índices de secuestros y extorsiones, que han aumentado especialmente en la fronteriza Ciudad Juárez, pese a la presencia de más de 8.000 militares desplegados por el gobierno para enfrentar al crimen organizado.

Pero el Ejército mexicano no está hecho para realizar ese rol policial contra las mafias del narco, que deben enfrentar a los ejércitos de los carteles de la droga. Menos las policías municipales que son bastante susceptibles a la corrupción. Hvad er det lige der sker… Små hunde der bliver båret rundt af deres ejere, små hunde der bliver pyntet med glitrende bling bling halsbånd til hunde… med små trøjer der står ”Mors lille vif-vif” på og med lyserøde sløjfer eller en Elvis-paryk placeret fint mellem ørerne

Det værste er, at det ofte lader til at ejerne til disse hunde ikke rigtig har opfattet at det rent faktisk er en hund, et levende dyr og ikke en ting de har valgt at bære rundt på som en anden pynteting.

Sjældent ser man disse hunde blive luftet … de bliver båret på. Og bliver brugt som en ”se mig” ting frem for at der bliver taget hensyn til at hunden rent faktisk er en hund… De bliver brugt som legetøjs-hunde!

Til tider tror jeg, at de eneste gange disse hunde får en lidt længere gåtur er når deres kvindelige ejer får deres ofte oppuffede lidt ”smartass” fyre til at lufte vif-vif hunden …

Rent faktisk ser jeg flere og flere macho-mænd med et stk. lille vif-vif i snor….

En eller anden mærkelig modeverden har sneget sig ind i dyrenes verden … Smykker og vedhæng og dingeldangel hører sig ikke til på en hund, uanset dens størrelse….

De små vif-vif hunde er ved at miste deres reelle væsen – de bliver skubbet ind i accessorie verdenen… Ikke kun fordi de i sig selv er blevet til en accessorie, men de pyntes også med accesorie…

Jeg kan se det for mig … Snart så kan man købe et stk. lille vif-vif hund side om side med købet af fine silketørklæder og nylonstrømper i den nærmeste accessorie butik i storcentret

”Kommer chihuahuaen også i blå?” spår jeg til at være et af fremtidens mulige almindelige spørgsmål fra de mærkværdig pynteglade kvinder….

After the violent death of my darling kitten Peppy (he was attacked by a big dog) I was so despondent that I bought a Buy and Sell to look for a Chihuahua and found THIS LITTLE GUY. But before you click that link, let me make it VERRRY clear that nothing could ever replace my darling Peppy but I felt that maybe a little puppy could ease the heartache.

I will be honest that I became severely impartial to small doggies after meeting Sugar, the Chihuahua of my friend and Missosologist Eton Bonifacio, at the press presentation of the Miss Earth 2009 candidates. Sugar was such a “CHI-VA” (chihuahua diva) minus the bad-attitude, that I fell in love permanently with her species.

Soon enough, I found myself purchasing my own Chi – a 3 month old boy; white with big black spots and orange eyebrows (he looks like a mini-version of my late Fox Terrier Andy Love) a slightly deformed left paw and no balls. His previous owner explained that he had undescended testicles and that THAT only affected his ability to procreate and did not make him a chicken.

Well, I didn’t give a woof. I wanted him and he was MINE!

After a FAMILY debate on whether we should call him Behemoth or Mothra, we decided on the more suave and kingly RAMSES.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO BUY A CHIHUAHUA, HERE ARE A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

1. Chihuahuas are a one-human dog.

Out of all my family members, Ramses has picked me to be his human BFF! He will follow me all over the place and answer my call above all others. When I am gone, his yaya Paning takes care of him but he isn’t truly happy until I get home. And because Chihuahuas are like children, I spend time playing with him and his little collection of toys and I usually tuck him into bed at the end of the day.

To make sure Ramses doesn’t become anti-social and exclusively focused on me, I share him with everyone in the family and bring him to work to meet other people. I’ve also taken him shopping so he can get used to bustling crowds.

2. Chihuahuas are true lap-dogs.

Little Ramses is a frisky little bundle of fur who enjoys chasing around but if I put him on my lap, HE STAYS THERE. It’s a wonderful change from the typical puppy who can’t wait to rush off and explore the house or chew your shoe. This trait makes chihuahuas such wonderful companions in and outside the house.

3. Chihuahuas are small.

So they eat small. And they poo small. Two things I am EXTREMELY grateful for. LOLOLOL!

4. Chihuahuas do not know they are small.

These guys think they are blue whales or something. They do not hesitate to attack creatures of all sizes if they feel threatened. Ramses has a surprisingly low bark when he is trying to ‘protect’ me from ’strangers’.

5. Chihuahuas and Children DON’T GET ALONG.

Because Chihuahuas are small, children think they’re toys. That’s of course until the chihuahua bites back.

6. Chihuahuas need displine.

Because they are too cute for your shorts, Chihuahuas can get away with more than just your SHORTS!!!  But DON’T let them take over! The second you bring your Chi home, establish who is boss. You do this by setting a daily pattern that they HAVE TO follow religiously. For example: Ramses has 3 meals a day and right after each meal he is put in the bathroom to poo. If he accidentally poos outside the bathroom, I show him I am displeased with a stern voice. If he poos or pees in the right place, I tell him that he is a good boy.

After Ramses is potty trained, I will attempt to train him with the help of a few internet resources that I have found.

While discipline is great, never yell at or spank your Chihuahua. And don’t rub his nose in his doodoo as punishment for pooing in the wrong place. A displeased tone of voice is enough to tell him that what he did was wrong.

7. Chihuahuas tend to follow your mood.

When you get excited, they get so tickled pink that they go peepee. But when you are calm, they start to relax and chill out.

In the mornings, Ramses wakes up REALLLY early. But he patiently waits in his little bed (which is next to ours) until Ron and I wake up. When Ramses sees that we are ‘ready’ he greets us a good morning with his wet nose and wiggly body. Then it’s playtime and breakfast!

8. Chihuahuas easily get cold.

I’ve already bought Ramses 3 tshirts. Each one big enough to comfortably cover a coffee mug. But with the shocking cost of size-zero doggie tees I am seriously thinking of putting up an ukay-ukay for pets.

Animal fashion is JUST TOO DOGGONE EXPENSIVE!!!

No. Its chihuahua.

Imagine the first day of school for any young chihuahua. Other dogs laughing at your name. Trying to spell it. The teacher butchering the pronounciation during roll. How embarassing.

Then there is the chihuahua who retires to a relaxing state, far from the hustle and bustle of today’s world. Ginger. She enjoys long walks in Bozeman, Montana as well as avoiding mountain lions, bears and various other predators. None of which ever bother to say “chihuahua” correctly.

Nada de pitt bull, rottweiller ou pastor alemão, as raças mais agressivas do mundo são dachshund, chihuahua e jack russell terriers, de acordo com um estudo recente da Universidade da Pensilvânia, nos Estados Unidos.
A pesquisa foi publicada na última edição da publicação científica Applied Animal Behavior Science e afirma que um em cinco dachshunds, também conhecidos como cães salsicha, já atacou ou tentou atacar estranhos; um em 12 dos salsichas já atacou os próprios donos.

Os mais ferozes são:

• Dachshund
• Chihuahua
• Jack Russell terrier
• Akita
• Pastor australiano
• Pit bull
• Beagle
• Springer Spaniel inglês
• Border collie
• Pastor alemão

Estes são alguns dos resultados do levantamento com 6.000 donos de cães de 30 raças diferentes. De acordo com os questionários, as raças que mais tendem a atacar humanos são dachshund e chihuahua.

Já os cães menos agressivos, de acordo com a pesquisa, são golden retrievers, labradores, são bernardos, britanny spaniels e greyhounds.

Os “bad boys” caninos, raças que enfrentam má fama de serem muito agressivas, como pitt bulls e rottweillers, ficaram na média de agressividade canina ou até abaixo, no que diz respeito a ataques contra estranhos.

Os pesquisadores afirmam que o estudo indica que raças menores tendem a ser mais agressivas que as maiores.

A diferença nos resultados dessa pesquisa para outros levantamentos sobre agressividade canina pode se dever ao fato de normalmente serem usadas estatísticas médicas de ataques a mordidas. Como os ataques de cães maiores costumam causar ferimentos mais graves que os menores, estas estatísticas poderiam estar distorcidas, afirmam os acadêmicos americanos.
