I don’t guess this is a good time to give thanks to the Christian God for much of anything.  Especially since He watched as hundreds, if not thousands of children were molested.  The Christian God heard their cries for help and did NOTHING to stop it for decades!  It seems we can’t trust the Christian God to watch over our children and keep them safe.  He can’t even do it in his own house with his own servants. Just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas, no wonder they now prefer to say “happy holidays”.  Not much Merry in the Christmas for those kids.

The summary of the report is provided below:

The Roman Catholic Church is said to have covered up DECADES of child abuse by priest in an attempt to protect the church’s reputation.  This was discovered after a three year investigation into the matter.

Several government investigations into chronic child rape, beatings and other cruelty in Catholic-run schools, children’s workhouses and orphanages in 1975-2004 were conducted.

The government indicated their investigations “shows clearly that a systemic, calculated perversion of power and trust was visited on helpless and innocent children in the archdiocese.”

With respect to the abuse cases the government stated: “The perpetrators must continue to be brought to justice, and the people of Ireland must know that this can never happen again,”

The 720-page report – delivered to the government in July but released Thursday – analyzes the cases of 46 priests against whom 320 complaints were filed. The 46 were selected from more than 150 Dublin priests implicated in molesting or raping boys and girls since 1940. Eleven priests convicted of child abuse are named in the report, but 33 are referred to by aliases and two have their names blacked out because they have yet to face justice.

The report also rejected past bishops’ key claim that they were ignorant of both the scale and criminality of priests’ abuse of children, showing that the Dublin Archdiocese negotiated a 1987 insurance policy for future legal costs of defending lawsuits and compensation claims.

The report states that  ”the taking out of insurance was an act proving knowledge of child sexual abuse as a potential major cost to the archdiocese.”

Investigators spent three years poring over 60,000 previously secret Dublin church files. Among the files were more than 5,500 that Martin’s predecessor, retired Cardinal Desmond Connell, had tried to keep locked in the archbishop’s private vault.

“One priest admitted to sexually abusing over 100 children, while another accepted that he had abused on a fortnightly basis during the currency of his ministry which lasted for over 25 years.”

“A few (priests) were courageous and brought complaints to the attention of their superiors. The vast majority simply chose to turn a blind eye,” the report said.

In May, the government published a report on decades of child abuse in Catholic-run schools, workhouses and orphanages. More than 12,000 victims of rape, beatings and mental abuse have received compensation payments from a government panel exceeding euro800 million ($1.2 billion).

I am surprised that anyone can feel it moral to follow this Christian belief after what has already been exposed.  It is likely this is not all we will come .

Yet, fools (dumb sheep) will still look to the Church for answers on “morals”.   We have Christians of all types now making excuses for child abuse, child rape, child labor, and in America we have Christians supporting the re-election of a Christian President that sent American troops to die for his war based on lies of WMD and ties to 9/11.  A President that used God as an excuse for it all, to include torture.  Christians in overwhelming numbers supported and re-elected Bush and thus approved, supported and condoned his immoral acts.  Yes, they are just as accountable for those acts.

Just because these people follow some superstition that millions respect doesn’t mean they are above the law or that they can commit any immoral act and get away with it.  Ted Haggard, Jimmy Baker, Jimmy Swaggert, Mark Sanford, Larry Craig, Vittner, John Ensign to name a few high profile Christians, seems to slide past any real accountability.

Imagine how many low profile individuals are getting through the cracks.  If the most “moral” of the “moral” are doing such sick acts, then the Christian idiots that come here and leave comments like “fuck off you piece of shit” are likely hiding many other vile acts while they claim to follow a “moral” God.

What happened Christians?  You attempt to tell us that we have no morals without religion and it appears the opposite is true.  With religion, we discover how to be immoral and claim it is moral, hide it with money and power and praise God while we tell others how they should live!

Pathetic!!

It is time for the world to wake up to these superstitious claims, stop believe the lies that are spread because threats are made of terrible harm that will come if you don’t follow.  Grow up, stand up and be honest to the children.  Stop threatening them with your God’s great punishment and torture for eternity.  Let them have a chance at life and escape the lies you are forced to live with.

Why is everyone and everything so annoying today?

Where ever I go or what ever I do I cant get any space to think or breath. Everyone is winding me up and I seem to be in a constant state of anger today. Even my dog is getting on my nerves and he is just an animal.

I used to be so laid back you know, what ever happened happened and so on but now that side of me seems to have gone and I dont like it at all.

Everytime I see a police car I wanna just go and have a go at them and shout WHY ARNT YOU DOING SOMETHING but all that will do is get me arrested.

Turn the TV on and apart from rubbish programs its just Christmas adverts argggggggggggg I doont wanna know about christmas, there isnt gonna be one for me this year.

Thats my latest rant over – had to get that off my chest

Its almost 3am and I cant sleep (again).

I took my sleeping tablets almost 3 hours ago and they still havent worked.

I dont know why I care so much about whats happened to this kid but I do. Reading her text messages again tonite has reopened it all for me. She was so vaunrable and scared and she pleaded with me not to report her rape. At first I promised I wouldnt but then when she sent me a text that night saying she though she was gonna be raped that night I had no choice but to report it.

I could not leave her to be raped again – who could have done that?

She predicted all along how her family would smother her and lie to the police. She predicted that no one would beleive her and she predicted nothing would happen and to my deep regret and horror she was right.

As soon as I reported it within days her mother had started telling my villagers that I had put her up to it and inteneded to split her mother and step father (the rapist) up but thats plain mad coz I didnt hardly know them. Why on earth would I wanna do that, what would be my motive?

Of course, everyone beleived her and I was driven out of my lovely home over night and it still sits there full of my life times possesions (thats if the locals havn’t been in and wrecked it).

It was a diversion of course, a smle screen to get everyone attention off the step father who the mother still deeply loves.

The sad thing is there is a clear cycle of abuse in this family.

The mother was physiccly abused as a child by her mother who used to hit her so hard it made her teath rattle. I know this coz the childs mother came to me and told me during a secret heart to heart while the Step dad was at work, She also told me that the step dad had never bothered with the child as it wasnt his and he was only intertested in his own son with the child mother (the childs step brother who the child reports just stays at her all day and blames her for blaming his dad.

the child gran abuses the child be caling her a f^^king selfish little bitch and worse. the child hinted that hr gran wacks her also. Then there is the child real father (she shant seen him since she was one year old). He used to beat the child mother up so badly she need hosiptal – she left him and now ended up with the kids step father who rapes her. Its a classic cycle but yet the authorities do nothing and left the kid in danger.

I am finding it hard to live with my feelings, why do i care so much and why is it eating me up?

Why dio I get these reocurring night mares nite after nite.

I am constantly on edge and my nerves are shot to hell.

Even now I can not look at anything to do with this child without it opening a floodgate of emotions that I didnt know where lerking there.

I have been forcing myself to read all of her text messages and the disclosers of her rape and abuse are clearly there.

Its like I am reliving it all over again and if I can read it in black and white, if it is in a form that cannot be denied then why on earth have the Police not done something about it?

Why is the scum who did this henious act to an innocent child still walking about enjoying life as if nothing happened?

Its beyond me, the injustice is over welming.

Yes yes I know that sadly this happens to other kids but I do not know them and cannot help them, god I wish I could but I do know this kid, and I do know what happened to her.

Its just eating me up.

Have also checked my email today and still not one single lousy MP has replied – how shite is that?

Whats wrong with them, some of them will have kids of their own, some maybe the same age as the girl Im trying to help, hell this could just as easy be their daughter yet still they dont want to know?

AN evil child rapist twice slipped through cops’ fingers during a near decade-long reign of abuse when he was caught drink driving.

Vile Mutasim Al Mutasim, 35, was caught drunk behind the wheel of his car twice in the midst of horror attacks on primary school children.

He was stopped first in September 2006 at the capital’s Duddingston Road West and later again January 2007 at Hay Avenue, where cops found him well over three times the drink-drive limit.

But police said last night they had no way of knowing he and his brother, Eldirdeery, 24, were sexually abusing girls as young as five.

It wasn’t until April 2008 that detectives snared the Sudanese dish-washer for horrific child sex offences which were described by one judge as “beyond the understanding of a caring and civilised society”.

And a police insider revealed last night that if wasn’t for his brother getting reported over the rapes; Al Mutasim could have slipped through the net completely.

“No way of knowing”

They said: “We had no way of knowing he was a rapist when we got him for drink driving.

“In fact it was when Eldirdeery was being interviewed that the spotlight turned onto his older brother, Mutasim.”

Al Mutasim, 35, is now serving five years behind bars for a campaign of abuse on two Edinburgh girls aged five and ten.

Today (Friday) the Sudanese dish-washer was told he will be banned from the roads for eight years on his release from prison, and had a month added to his sentence.

Handcuffed to a prison guard throughout his appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday, Al Mutasim hung his head as details of his chaotic driving were read out.

He admitted both offences – something he refused to do during the rape trial at the High Court in Kilmarnock earlier this month.

He and his brother Eldirdeery were convicted of a string of charges following a trial and put on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.

Judge Lord Turnbull slammed the older brother’s “disgraceful” dominance over the five year-old girl in particular.

Al Mutasim raped her after she came to him for protection from his brother, who was ultimately jailed for ten years.

The pair, who have a Scottish mother and had been living in Edinburgh, were found guilty of repeated attacks in Edinburgh between July 1999 and April 2008.

They insisted throughout the trial that their victims made the abuse claims up in revenge for an unpaid debt.

Judge Lord Turnbull commented: “You used the dominance that provided to perpetrate the most disgraceful breach of trust.

“Not only did you have regular intercourse with both young girls but in the most despicable turn of events you raped one of them after she had come to you seeking protection from her other abuser.”

And when the drink driving charges emerged yesterday, Sheriff Isabella McColl extended Al Mutasim’s jail term and disqualified him from driving for eight years.

Speaking through an Arabic interpreter she said she would have fined him £500, but instead added a month onto his sentence as he was already being held in custody.

A spokesperson for Lothian and Borders Police confirmed there had not been any reports of sexual abuse at the time of Al Mutasim’s drink driving offences.

Another long slow day has gone by and it feels like I’m living a half life… not even that really.

All I know is that out there is this child that I have come to care about and she is being abused everyday. She is at risk of more rape by her step father and no one seems to care.

Not a single MP has replied to my emails and only around 5 members of the House of Lords have even bothered to answer.

I have a copy of the NSPCC report on the kid and it says that in the opinion of the NSPCC she is extremely vaunrable and urgent action should be taken to protect her.

So how in the name of jack can the police and social services in the UK just ignore this?

How can they get away with leaving her where she is?

I am sick and disgusted of this country and especially of the so called child protection services.

What protecetion have they given her?

She was raped when she was 10 and gave indications that it was on going (thats close on to 6 years of rape for F**ks sake)  - men have been jailed for years on a lot less proof, what does this poor kid have to do to get justice?

The rapist should be behind bars not living a normal life in the community.

Abusers and Leveraging the Children

Abusers use everyone and everything around them in a manipulative way, including using their children as tools of abuse.

The abuser often recruits his children to do his bidding. He uses them to tempt, convince, communicate, threaten, and otherwise manipulate his target, the children’s other parent or a devoted relative (e.g., grandparents) . He controls his – often gullible and unsuspecting – offspring exactly as he plans to control his ultimate prey. He employs the same mechanisms and devices. And he dumps his props unceremoniously when the job is done – which causes tremendous (and, typically, irreversible) emotional hurt.

Co-opting

Some offenders – mainly in patriarchal and misogynist societies – co-opt their children into aiding and abetting their abusive conduct. The couple’s children are used as bargaining chips or leverage. They are instructed and encouraged by the abuser to shun the victim, criticize and disagree with her, withhold their love or affection, and inflict on her various forms of ambient abuse.

As I wrote in Abuse by Proxy:

“Even the victim’s (children) are amenable to the considerable charm, persuasiveness, and manipulativeness of the abuser and to his impressive thespian skills. The abuser offers a plausible rendition of the events and interprets them to his favor. The victims are often on the verge of a nervous breakdown: harassed, unkempt, irritable, impatient, abrasive, and hysterical.

Confronted with this contrast between a polished, self-controlled, and suave abuser and his harried casualties – it is easy to reach the conclusion that the real victim is the abuser, or that both parties abuse each other equally. The prey’s acts of self-defense, assertiveness, or insistence on her rights are interpreted as aggression, lability, or a mental health problem.”

This is especially true with young – and, therefore vulnerable – offspring, particularly if they live with the abuser. They are frequently emotionally blackmailed by him (“If you want daddy to love you, do this or refrain from doing that”). They lack life experience and adult defenses against manipulation. They may be dependent on the abuser economically and they always resent the abused for breaking up the family, for being unable to fully cater to their needs (she has to work for a living), and for “cheating” on her ex with a new boyfriend or husband.

Co-opting The System

The abuser perverts the system – therapists, marriage counselors, mediators, court-appointed guardians, police officers, and judges. He uses them to pathologize the victim and to separate her from her sources of emotional sustenance – notably, from her children. The abuser seeks custody to pain his ex and punish her.

Threatening

Abusers are insatiable and vindictive. They always feel deprived and unfairly treated. Some of them are paranoid and sadistic. If they fail to manipulate their common children into abandoning the other parent, they begin treat the kids as enemies. They are not above threatening the children, abducting them, abusing them (sexually, physically, or psychologically) , or even outright harming them – in order to get back at the erstwhile partner or in order to make her do something.

Most victims attempt to present to their children a “balanced” picture of the relationship and of the abusive spouse. In a vain attempt to avoid the notorious (and controversial) Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS), they do not besmirch the abusive parent and, on the contrary, encourage the semblance of a normal, functional, liaison. This is the wrong approach. Not only is it counterproductive – it sometimes proves outright dangerous.

Had yet another nightmare last night and its the same bloody one that I keep having.

The kid texts me to say ‘he’s raping me he’s raping me’ and although I can strangly read her incoming text I cant move to reply. Nothing works, my arms or legs, I am struggling to move, to answer this poor kid but I just cant move.

Then I wake up in a sweat….

This haunts me, I have had this same dream for months and month now.

I cant stop it.

Very worth while

On many father’s rights message boards, the word was put out to comment on a recent article in U.S. News & World Report, some of these messages coming from Amy Baker, who writes and sells books on the so-called “parental alienation syndrome.” The article was very slanted towards those who have books and services to sell to the courts and are anxious to get PAS recognized….even though many of the professional bodies and top psychologists have debunked it. I received this casual observation on the continued call to push this well known legal tactic into some kind of “syndrome” by father’s rights advocates (FRAs) (and this WAS sent to father’s groups):

If they believe that PAS is a legitimate syndrome, why do they require the sheer number of letters from unqualified sources (FRA’s) in order to get PAS included in the DSM? AS far as I am concerned, this type of action only dilutes any credibility they might have had in the first place.

A Challenge to Taylor Marshall’s Childishly Stupid, “John Calvin’s Worst Heresy” Rant

So you support using Hank Hannegraff, a heretic deserving of death according to the Catholic Church’s tradition and popes, is now who Catholics are turning to to try and silence Calvin’s “heresies”? And how is claiming, more than once, that Calvinists teach that God is a cosmic rapist, “politely disagree[ing] with Calvin”? Taylor? But if you think ranting about saying Jesus went to Hell rather than suffered on Earth only is the worst thing to say rather than calling God a rapist, it’s no wonder you don’t know what polite or impolite is.

Isn’t Mr. “God Is A Cosmic Rapist If He Loves You and You Hate Him” aka “Mr. Steal Credit Then Try and Sue You If You Show That I’m a Liar”  such a good, trustworthy reference? But what would the Catholics know, who are so stupid that they can’t take a giant 50,000,000 killed in 1000 years (plus 1000+ kids raped and sodomized by Catholic parents, teachers, monks, nuns and priests every year in place of mass murdering “rebel” Christian when the Calvinists stopped their murdering) hint? Sadly we are hardly able to put a stop the hypocritical daily murder (aborting) of  babies by Catholics, while Catholic leaders pretend abortion is a bad thing. In testimony before a British parliamentary committee in the late 1990s, one boy spoke of the criminal abuse he was subjected at the hands of Catholic priests at Tardun in Western Australia. A number of Christian brothers competed between themselves to see who could rape him 100 times first, the boy said. They liked his blue eyes, so he repeatedly beat himself in the hope they would change colour. As parliamentarians reflected at the time, the term “sexual abuse” seemed wholly inadequate given the awfulness of his experience.

Why not turn to Satan too while you’re at it? Why not use him as a reference for refuting Calvin? You use one of his sons, why not the father oflies himself? Another depressing day has gone by and I have been trying to use it as best I could.

I have been very busy over the last few weeks emailing anyone in the UK that I feel may be involved in Child Protection or Children’s Rights Including many people at the Houses of Parliament and the reaction from within the two Houses or Parliament could not be clearer.

Being blunt, the lazy arsed MP’s dont want to know while the members of the House of Lords have been most kind.

 I have emailed all of the Members of the House of Lords who publish a public email address and I have had a couple of very supportive replies for which I am extremely grateful. Some expressed shock for the child and one or two were concerned regarding the behaviour of the Police but no one offered to try and help.

Three honourable members expressed an interest and asked to be kept informed, hence this email, and that is more than I hoped would happen. Other members have read the email but not replied, while many others still simply deleted it without reading, including some members who are involved with Police and Child Protection matters.

One honourable person has said that they will bring matters to the attention of the All-Party group for Abuse Investigations which is fantastic if they can do anything to stop other children suffering.

I spent many hours researching what I hoped would be the appropriate government ministers and staff and tracking down their public email addresses. I then sent them the same email but not one person has replied or even read the email as far as I am aware.

I sent the email to various Ministers and people within the following departments:

I am disappointed and saddened to report that Ed Balls, or anyone from his office, have failed to even acknowledge the email despite the subject matter being very much within his remit.

I have also emailed EVERY single MP to lobby them to ask questions and try and bring matters to the attention of the appropriate Ministers. It is interesting to note that only one MP has replied by saying I should email the Prime Minister (as if he will get to read it let alone act on it), and, sadly, many have simply deleted the email without even reading it despite this being a subject that they should care about. To say I am disgusted with them is understating how I feel. Even my own MP has not read or replied to my email.

I also contacted Ofsted using their Whistle blowing email address and they did reply saying ‘my concerns may not fall within our legal remit for Whistleblowing’.

As I hope this email illustrates, I am very serious about, and deeply committed to, trying to help this child and bring the wider issue to the attention of people who can ask the appropriate questions and get things done in order to stop this happening to other children.

The NSPCC and Childline can only do so much and eventually all matters are referred to the Social Services and/or the Police.  As the problem seems to be with them and the way the deal with and treat child victims then it is these services that need looking at.

I simply cannot accept that it is acceptable for a child to be left at the real risk of further rape and abuse. I also fail to see how this is in the ‘best interests of any child’ and there would be a public outcry should this become known.

UPDATE (11/17/09):  Lorraine was freed yesterday after daughter agreed to go to abusers…she couldn’t take having her mother in jail anymore.

….and the daughter runs away from him at the schoolhouse door.  He tries to shove court orders at her.  So he approaches her mother, Lorraine  Tipton.  Seeing he abused Lorraine before, she didn’t want to stick around to possibly get beaten or shot, like what is happening to many mothers these days.   The daughter does not want to go to Grandma’s house, whom daddy Craig lives with, and sleep on the floor.  The daughter does not want Grandma (also seen in video) to force feed her own vomit to her again.  The daughter does not want to ride in a car with drunken daddy and Grandma, and get pulled over for a DUI, like has happened before.  Wisconsin Judge David Miron sees no problem with this.

Please let Wisconsin authorities know that mother has been put in jail and will remain in jail until the daughter goes with these abusers.  A young girl should not be put in this position!

How do you cope knowing a child is being raped and abused?

This question is the main reason I have started this blog.

I am a blog virgin and this is my first.

You see there is a child that I tried to help but failed. This child came to me and told me that she was being raped and abused.

I reported this but nothing has been done to help her. She is still with the abusers and I have to go to bed every night with the thought in my head tjat this kid may have been raped again that day and I can do nothing to help.

How do you live with that?

I did everything I could to help this child. I repeatedly reported her problems to the Police and they did nothing.

I have lost so much just for trying to help.

I have lost a 30 year career, my home, my friends, my dog and my life but ya know what, that is nothing compared to what this kid must feel like after she has been subjected to another heinus rape.

I just dont get why no one is doing anything.

The AP is reporting that convicted child rapist and Christian evangelist Tony Alamo has just been sentenced to 175 years in prison, for his crimes.The sentencing was held in a federal courthouse in Texarkana, Arkansas.

U.S. District Judge Harry F. Barnes sentenced the 75-year-old preacher to what amounts to life in prison, for sexually preying on the daughters of his followers. He would frequently transport underage girls across state lines to molest them, sometimes with the consent of their parents.

Alamo used his influence as both a father figure and a pastor to force himself upon impressionable girls who feared “the loss of their salvation.”, which is an old trick that has often been used by charismatic preachers to receive sexual favors from their followers.

Barnes leveled the maximum sentence against the 75-year-old, who preyed on followers’ young daughters and took child “brides” as young as age 8. A jury convicted Alamo in July on a 10-count indictment earlier this year.

Authorities arrested Alamo, 75, in September and raided his 15-acre compound near Texarkana, Arkansas. Alamo, whose real name is Bernie Hoffman, is founder and leader of Tony Alamo Christian Ministries.

Alamo is a one-time clothing entrepreneur who had achieved financial and business success in that industry.

Alamo, who has made millions through his ministry, also must pay $250,000 in fines. He will return to court for a Jan. 13 hearing at which Barnes will determine if the five women who testified about their sexual abuse will be paid restitution. Federal prosecutors say an expert believes each one should get $2.7 million for the physical and mental abuse they endured.

Alamo, who had muttered and cursed through his two-week trial, stood silently during the sentencing, dressed in a yellow prison uniform and a blue windbreaker. Before Barnes’ ruling, Alamo told the judge: “I lean on the lord Jesus Christ.”

Defense lawyers said the government targeted Alamo because it disapproves of his apocalyptic brand of Christianity. Alamo never testified at trial, but spoke to Barnes twice during the hearing Friday. He first told the judge he thought his defense team provided him adequate legal help, though he wanted them to harshly cross-examine the women to show “that the people who were testifying against me were lying.”

As Alamo left the courthouse, he said he would leave to his church’s future in other hands.

“The Lord is in charge,” the preacher said.

Between Tony Alamo and Carrie Prejean, it has not been a good week for the false prophets of Christianity.

WHY IS THIS MOTHER IN JAIL?

(Oconto Falls, WI) Today an Oconto County family court judge sentenced a mother to jail because she was unable to force her daughter to court mandated visitation with her abusive father.  The daughter will be sent to foster care if she refuses to live with her father while the mother serves her sentence.

Circuit Judge David Miron sentenced Lorraine Tipton to 30 days in county jail for contempt of court, for her failure to follow the custody order requiring her daughter to live every other week with her father, Craig Hensberger.

“She’s terrified of going;  she has night terrors and severe anxiety” says Tipton, who admits her daughter hasn’t visited with her father since August.

“I thought the court was supposed to look out for the best interests of the child, not the best interest of the father,” Tipton continued.  “I thought once I got out of the abusive relationship everything would be fine.  Instead, my abuser is continuing his abuse of me and my daughter with the help of the court.”

Over the course of their on and off 8 year relationship Hensberger was arrested three times for domestic violence and once for child abuse.  Since their separation in 2005, Hensberger has been arrested twice for DWI, including once while the daughter was in the car.

Although the court has ordered Hensberger into alcohol treatment and ordered “absolute sobriety” when having visitation, the daughter claims he continues to drink to excess when she is visiting.   The father told the court he had stopped drinking completely.  The mother recently had a private investigator follow the father, who found that the father drank heavily on a night he was scheduled to have visitation.  In court today the father admitted to his continued drinking; nonetheless the judge still sentenced the mother to jail.

Hensberger achieved his local 15 minutes of fame in Oconto in March of this year, when he forced his daughter to enter 3 different fishing tournaments using the same fish so that he could collect the money – a story covered widely by local news.   While the local media angle related to his transportation of fish against DNR regulations,  Ms. Tipton’s concerns were for the well-being of her daughter, who was  being taught to lie, cheat and steal by her father.  Since this incident, the daughter’s relationship with the father has deteriorated, Tipton claims.

Additionally, the father’s employment is irregular, his house is in foreclosure and he currently resides with his mother.  The daughter claims she is forced to sleep on the floor in the living room or in the unfinished basement since there is no bed or private space for her in the small 2 bedroom house.

“Sadly, this case typifies the problems we are seeing in Family Courts nationwide,” says Irene Weiser, executive director of StopFamilyViolence.org. “Family court judges are failing to recognize signs of abuse, and are placing children in harms way.  Even worse, instead of investigating the abuse allegations, they accuse the parent making the allegations of being vindictive and punish them for taking actions to protect their children.  Often judges seem more concerned with maintaining the child’s relationship with the father than ensuring the child’s safety.”

Thanks to Wisconsin’s Judge David Miron, the biggest idiot in the state.

Lorraine Tipton was confined in the Oconto County, Wisconsin jail yesterday, November 12th.  She presented some excellent evidence in Judge David Miron’s court of daughter’s dad drinking alcohol to excess (including pics) and under examination, daughter’s dad revealed that he drank to excess one evening and then drove away from the bar.  This admission, coupled with the dad’s chronic alcohol related arrest record, was not enough to sway the judge to do any more than admonish the father.  Judge Miron did not want therapy for daughter’s father, he simply wanted daughter reunited with her father, sentencing Lorraine to thirty days in jail to make this happen.

Craig Hensburger has driven drunk with the daughter in the car before, and forced her to wait in the car as he and his mother were getting drunk in the bar.  The daughter observed Grandma being so drunk when leaving, she got into the wrong car.  Craig Hansburger then drove them all home in this state.  This was not the only time.  Once at their home, the daughter is forced to sleep on the floor.  Even though they are at Grandma’s house, she is afraid to sleep in the basement.   There has been substantiated sexual abuse charges against Craig Hensburger against his daughter, but nobody will do anything about them.

So this young lady waits while the courts jail her mother.  The daughter refuses, and mommy gets jailed.  If the daughter does not go to visit drunken abuser Craig Hensberger, Lorraine sits in jail, having concurrent sentences placed on her head.

What can we do?  For starters:

Wendy Murphy: Punishing abusers key to protecting women

It’s October, which means it’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

But we don’t really need an “awareness month” anymore. There’s so much domestic violence, we’re in a chronic state of awareness. What we really need is a revolution.

First the facts:

- A woman is beaten every 15 seconds.

- Nearly two dozen victims of domestic violence are already dead this year alone in Massachusetts. Other states report similar numbers.

- As many as 10 million children a year are exposed to domestic violence, causing them to suffer emotional and psychological harm, not to mention that they grow up believing that smacking your spouse is part of a “normal” relationship. No surprise then that boys who watch their fathers beat their mothers are far more likely as adults to do the same thing to their female partners.

- According to the Justice Department, women suffer violent victimization more than 4 million times a year. Approximately one-third of the crimes are committed by intimate partners.

- Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury for American women between the ages of 15 and 44.

- Among homeless women and children, half are homeless because of domestic violence.

- Medical expenses resulting from domestic violence amount to around $4 billion annually.

Now a few of the embarrassing reasons for so much suffering:

- Most cases of domestic violence are not reported to law enforcement because victims fear retaliation, are financially dependent on their abuser, or believe the justice system will not protect them and/or is useless to deter the violence.

- Of the cases that are reported and accepted for prosecution, only about half end in conviction while one-third are dismissed by the prosecutor. For the small percentage of cases that end in conviction, the punishment is usually trivial.

In sum, there are three main reasons why women are abused in such large numbers by men who claim to love them: Offenders aren’t being punished! Offenders aren’t being punished! Offenders aren’t being punished!

Some argue that punishment doesn’t stop domestic violence and that we need to do more “education and prevention” to change the way males are raised so they will learn to respect women more. These tend to be the people who get funding to do “education and prevention.” In other words, they’re paid to co-opt victims into believing that justice and punishment aren’t important even though some research shows that the only thing that stops violent men is incapacitation (read: jail).

Even if education and cultural retraining might help some day, while we’re waiting around for our species to evolve, we need to give all endangered women a .45 caliber equalizer and we need to ramp up the punishment of batterers so that beating a woman isn’t sentenced on par with spitting on the sidewalk.

Anti-incarceration advocates will tell you that prison isn’t fun – and that it often spawns a toxic mental software that makes men who enter come out worse than ever when their sentence wraps up.

But if fear of becoming a monster in prison, and respect for women isn’t enough to deter a man from beating his wife, he’s already toxic – and putting him behind bars will prevent him from infecting innocent others with his poison. Punishment isn’t the only way to stop violence, but it is a legitimate and effective feature of our legal system. Lots of research shows how states that send a higher percentage of criminals to prison have lower rates of crime, even after controlling for all of things like poverty and urbanization.

But incarceration is a dirty word in the lexicon of some liberals who claim that locking people up gives the government dangerous amounts of power and threatens the freedom of the individual.

They’re wrong.

The freedom of FEMALE individuals is actually greatly enhanced when criminals who target women for violence are incapacitated.

But our legal system doesn’t care. And despite decades of disastrous statistics, our political leaders don’t care, either. In fact, nobody in a position of leadership is even complaining about the lack of justice for victimized women.

Earlier this month, there was a big to-do in D.C. about women’s issues in the Obama administration. Lynn Rosenthal, whose responsibility it is to deal with violence against women on behalf of the president, gave a lovely talk about all sorts of things, but never once mentioned the profound failure of law to redress domestic violence or the desperate need for tougher punishments for batterers.

Obviously, the men who promised “change” and “hope” for a better society, and who haven’t shied away from talking about the need for tough punishments for corporate criminals, have little “hope” to offer women in danger. It’s just more politicians in a long line of others who value stuff more than women’s lives.
