British rapper Chipmunk, 18, seems to have got his life back on track after last weeks suicidal comments. The North London recording artist posted on Twitter saying: “I wanna die” and “Is suicide easy.”

The rap artist was catapulted to fame earlier this year, and has enjoyed recent success in the charts with his track Oopsy Daisy reaching number one in the UK charts.

Chipmunk is alledged to have been working 18 hours a day at times and used this week as a time for entertainment and rest.

Chipmunk spoke this week and said: “I’m on a trip back to normaility. I’m in good health and it’s all good.”

To unwind Chipmunk attended Rihanna’s London gig on Monday night in Brixton along with; Adele, Keisha Buchanan, Tinchy Stryder and Emma Bunton.

The Sony recording also attended one of the advanced screenings for the film Paranormal Activity which has now been officially released.

UK hiphop/grime/pop artists, N-Dubz, hooked up with Hattie Collins for an interview on Rewind TV. They spoke a bit about their upcoming album “Against All Odd“. The trio (Dappy,Tulisa and Fazer) seem to address a few haterz generating rumours about them and set a few records straight. They also show respect to other UK artist like Chipmunk, Jay Sean, JLS and more…

Everyone is going in on Run This Town at the moment, Chipmunk puts his own touches on it here.

Which one you feeling?

To be quite honest, I was so proud of this outfit that I had all intentions of listing it and re-creating it for a lucky customer, but life got in the way and now my chipmunk will be wearing a one-of-a-kind original for Thanksgiving! Actually, she has already worn it to Wednesday night Church, but you know what I mean.

I am a part of a great group online that has challenges every month. All you have to do is pay for the embroidery files and create something with at least four designs. This is what I came up with for the October challenge!

I love it when the design in my head comes out so well in real life! It was the first time that I really tried shirring: on the peasant top, and the ruffles on the back of the dress the way that they are done.

I can’t wait to share what this month’s challenge is! It’s all done, I just have to get the Chipmunk to wear it so that I can get pictures…. It’s a mix and match Pajama set!! Four pieces total.

Just about a week ago there was a massive hype about the new call of duty modern war fare 2 (mw2). i would call my self a pretty big gamer and i was pretty hyped about it but i couldnt realy afford it to be honest (PS3 rules btw fuck xbox 360 and fuck bill gates lol ) But I was probably more hyped for back of the q at russian bar with P money and blacks. I have seen blacks and p money live at frisco’s eyes on you launch party at the old blue last sponsored by vice and Boxfresh a few months back.I already knew about p money but i didn’t really know a lot about blacks. It was the first time ive ever heard them live and they killed the set so that’s when I got into blacks. I got to the russian bar quite early. i GOT I.D’D the bouncer was like have you got any I.D but I was like “no but I’m 18″ (LOL). MY mate NIYI spoke to the bouncer and said
(NIYI) : He’s 18
(Bouncer) : Are you the dad ?
(NIYI) : I know his mum !
(Bouncer) : Are you his dad ?
(NIYI) : YEAH I AM ! Cant you see the resemblance , Look at our hats!

So it was early and it would obviously be empty at that time so niyi took of a picture of me just writing a way like a proper journalist.

Matty the shop keeper done a sick set. Every tune he played was a BANGER. THE DJ after him was playing alot of good funky house and was doing quite enetertaining set. so me and my friends decided to go to the macbeth. we was there for a while. We were running late so i was anxiously running back to the Russian to see P money and blacks set.

I got back in time and i think they came on a bit late so i was pretty relieved I didn’t miss any thing even though i was like 5 minutes late. when i got back to the venue was quite full and quite a few grime heads were there aswell. I saw P money before his set wearing a og’z t shirt ( og’z is his crew which blacks is in also ) So I said hi to him and blagged a interview with him after his set. I really couldn’t wait for the set to start. spyro was banging out pure grime classics which a true grime head would appreciate and Skank it out and playing such classics such as jammer murkle man , Ghetto top 3 selected , Boyy better know duppy and Chipmunk who are you. so while i was writing away a few people came up to me and wa slike “why are you writing lyircs” and saying “dont write my bars in a rave are u serious”?. I was so surprised and thought it was hillarious that people where thinking that i was writing bars when spyro was duppying the decks.DId they think i was sum stupid wigga or something ?,What a par lol.

I did get the impression and also got alot of screw faces with some of the crowd probably them thinking what is this stupid “camden boy” thinking he’s cool going to a grime night with a boy better know t shirt, But like if they knew who I was they would be completely wrong because as you know I’m really passionate about the grime scene and that im a tottenham boy also were the biggest grime crew orginated from (merdian crew). Just before the set,This so called “rude boy” came up to me and was like “why are staring at me?” I said mate “im not staring at you !” im used to this shit anyway. so finally p money and blacks came on and jumped on to the mic straight away and got down to business as well and the set was actually realy sick and realy hyped and spyro on teh decks was just the icing on the cake. and a surprise guest little dee made a appearance but only sprayed a few bars p money said his infamous phrase “what did he say! ?”

P MONEY’S MOST WELL KNOWN TRACK : WHAT DID HE SAY ?

p money and blacks were actually dominating the set and you could tell they were putting 100% effort and it really showed .There were a few random guys just jumping on mic and were literallly taking the show lol. The set and the instrumentals reminded me of the Logan sama, P money and blacks kiss fm set they done a few months ago.The HIGHLIGHT of the night was when spyro put the space ship riddim.IT probably got one of the best crowd responses that night. basically the space ship riddim is probably one of the best grime instrumentals ever. I realy dont think anyone would obeject. The most notable mc’s that have made tracks over this beat are President T, Tempa T, JME, Skepta, Jammer, and NU brand flex.

The energy absorbing set i caught up with p money and walked out side the venue and got caught up in the rain and p money said to me “can u write and walk ? ” I responded saying yes. So we were walking away from the venue and the rain was just demolishing all of my notes so I asked p money a few questions.

After that un suspecting statement p money he entered a pretty fly Volkswagen with blacks already in the car and little dee driving. When p money got in the car drived away promptly into the the midnight rain. I realy enjoyed that set and it wont be forgotton. After Dizzee, Came Tinchy Stryder, following him was Chipmunk, all successfully topping the charts, stepping up next to continue this new tradition is UKs favourite bad boy Griminal, this is the first single, Invincible:

A lot of people have criticized Griminal for ‘going mainstream’, however even more people are supporting the move and feel that he has managed to maintain more of a Grime essence than the previous three’s chart topping records all together, so not only are old fans remaining ever loyal..he is gaining a whole new range of fans (100,000 views within 3 days).

I like the track, Its catchy in a raw sort of way, I really like the beat, its just got a nice vibe to it and its crisp quality balances with Griminal’s raw delivery, lyrically, the Narsty crew saviour is far more talented, thing is, if he was to get too lyrical on this record..it would just go over many people’s heads and if Griminal wants to walk through that mainstream door then he has to be smart about it, despite what people say, Chipmunk’s debut album ‘I Am Chipmunk’ had pop-glazed singles kept within an urban casing and a Grime core, it was responded to as Grime/Pop, genre-merging is essential in any chart, 50 Cent is set to release an album more violent than his debut Get Rich or Die Tryin’, however the first two singles are ‘Baby By Me ft. Ne-Yo’ and ‘Do You Think About Me’, so rather than losing faith, people should show support and spend a mere 79p on the single, it saves you time on finding a good quality version of the file too and you won’t go to hell (lol).

The video, directed by Carly Cusson, is a good look, it is not an amazing video but it is not a poor video either, I think it offers good visuals for the record, featuring a cameo from the beautiful and talented Mz Bratt (I think she should jump on the beat and do an official remix, although that would create even more rumours), the chemistry is good, both seem to be good actors so it seems music is not their only avenue, I love the fact that Griminal is allowed the freedom to be himself, it is a contrast to Chipmunk, who I guess many will pair up as rivals, but truthfully both are mature enough to use that to their advantage rather than develop issues off the mic, the future looks good for the scene as there is just so much talent, best of luck to Griminal, make sure you support him, because once we dominate the charts here, then we can spread the success globally ..UK Stand Up

GrimInAl Ways - coming 2010

As I sat working at my computer, I would hear a rodent working hard in the ceiling space above my basement office. Back and forth. Scraping away at something.

And every morning, around 8 AM, a chipmunk would emerge from my back porch and head over to the bird feeding area.

So a week ago, I called upon my trusty “Have-a-heart” trap. I set it up in the general path of my chipmunk’s travels… and waited.

The next morning, the chipmunk sat on the back step for about 20 minutes, just staring at the trap. Then he ran around it and off to his feeding area.

On the second day, he cautiously walked around the trap several times. Then he jumped up on the trap – and amazingly, did not set off the very sensitive mechanism. He studied things from that perch – and then ran off.

It poured the next day and nothing went out that day.

On the fourth day – VICTORY. I picked up the trap and brought the rodent to a nice conservation area about 6 miles away.

And since then, there has been silence in the ceiling area.

A few days ago I posted in the middle of the night how I was being kept awake by a mouse in the walls. Set out some traps, wait for it to come in and bang–catch a mouse.  The traps are still sitting there. We don’t have a mouse. I think we have a chipmunk. The thing is driving me mad. Every night it does more damage. Every night I try to scare it away. Every night I get no closer to figuring out how to get rid of it.

There are plenty of ways to catch a chipmunk, some lethal, some more pacifistic. The problem is that I do not know where to set any trap at this point. It isn’t coming into the house yet, thank the mammalian goddesses, but I also can’t find where it is traveling in and out of the walls. I naively filled in one tunnel early in the invasion. It hasn’t touched that spot since. Now I can’t find any tunnel. The spot it seemed to have gotten into the house has offered no signs of animal travel lately. It has another route in and out.

Rat traps, Haveaheart traps, hot pepper, whatever, I am willing to try it at this point, but where to place any such device or deterrent?  That is the question. My plan at this point is to get some traps and just set them out and about near where I thought it was getting in. Maybe I will get lucky. That will tomorrow’s task. Too late tonight. Maybe by filling in its tunnel it is trying to find a new way out by tunneling in the wall. I don’t know. If I set out traps and they offer nothing, maybe I will unclog the original tunnel and set the traps there.

In any case, this critter needs to go. And soon. Chipmunks are cute, but I am willing to resort to violence if necessary. I would prefer I find a way to simply get it out and keep it out, but that may prove fruitless. Stay tuned for more reports from the front lines.

I was glad to read reports today that the teenage Grime star Chipmunk is feeling better after his alleged suicide threats on Twitter a couple of weeks back. The PR grind you need to complete in order to achieve national stardom is a tough one and would tire even the most established of artists, so its good to hear hes on the mend. But then again, it would be hard not to be happy when you get so close to Rihanna:

So…ma dude is back in town from the states, aint seen each other is YEARS (no exaggeration).

Linked up last night in Brixton, to see Rihanna do her thing – I didn’t even know she was sharing the same air as us all. LOL

Rhi was dressed in black leotards for the entire night. I had a feeling the gig would be short as she performed about 3 songs in one outfit. She looked stunning!! I can’t fully remember the time she graced the stage but honestly, I wasn’t bothered. Rhi came on and started the night with ‘The Wait Is Over’ – not my fav track but that was only a small speck in comparison to ‘Russian Roullette’.

I was left with my jaw to the floor. I never thought her voice was super so I gave up wishing it was and accepted her for that. She’s not Beyonce, Mariah or Whitney…she’s Rihanna. Last night, based on her Russian Roulette performance, her voice blew me away. Stage presence was ok but she’s never really been the one to go crazy on stage. *salutes*

Night went on and the special guests came out. Young Jeezy for their track ‘Hard’ and Jay-Z  for ‘Run This Town’ & ‘Umbrella’. Jay – Z and Young Jeezy are definitely implementing ‘all black errthang’. Their swagger was untouchable. Kanye didn’t make an appearance – he left the country earlier on. That would have sealed it for myself and many who had hopes.

This no doubt one of my favourite songs for the night! Get innnn!!

Rhianna was only on stage for 30minutes but that has been one of the best 30minute concert I have ever been to. I liked that Nokia gave people, who were unable to be present, a chance to view it online – KUDOS!! Although, it was way better being there. *cheesy grin here*

Being an artist (pencil & paper not mic & stage) I recognized the stage production…of course. It consisted of antique television sets (stacked onto each other) mannequins and graphics on the back screen - LOVED IT!!

Now, this is where it got interesting. Saw a few old faces, regular faces and met some new ones. Dready, Chipmunk, Jamelia, Max from Radio 1xtra, Tincy Stryder, Donaoe, Meleka, May (just to name a few) were all  up in the mix.

Went Nandos and had a bite to eat with Dready, Max and her production team. As usual, boys/men were the topic… LMAO – we caught enough jokes and shared enough to last a a while. Apparently a guy will, at some point after meeting you, have thought of you sexually- some get over it, some don’t. Now, we all agreed on this (even the only male at the table) apart from Max – she’s in denial that guys don’t do that. She’s pretty, nice shape, great career, great personality..er..yeh..they do Max!!

Max and the girls left. Me and Dready hit up the after-party. DJ Manny Norte (Kiss 100) was on the decks, joined by Idris Elba aka Stringer Bell (The Wire) later on. They kept the party live – O! Chipmunk, Jamelia, JLS, FDM were all there, having a good time. Night went on, Rihanna came through. She remained in VIP but occasionally stepped onto the dance floor to whine her hips with her girls and a few fans. I appreciated that *smiles*

Word spread like wild fire that she was in VIP – oh boy! Groupie alert *red light flashes, nee naah, nee naah*. Jay – Z, Beyonce and Young Jeezy also came through. Again, groupie alert. You know, it’s just sad to see this and know your motive for the night was to ‘go back to the hotel and see what happens. He’s ma boy…’ Eff outta here yo! I also felt it for Chipmunk and Jameila. I found myself relocating several times, to avoid being randomly snapped. Can they just party? Can they…?

I had my phone with me but I just didn’t feel the urge to snap a pic. *shrugg shoulders* Highlight of the night would have to be my observations..woiii, lol – I’m bad! Yes, I was watching everyone and I was disappointed with the eager behaviour of some, dying to be close to Rihanna – get over it ya’ll!. One minute you’re on the left, Rhi appears on the right, you pop up on the right! Ah man, trying to sneak into pics – a lot of pics are gunna have random people all up in the mix..LOL. I mean, I danced back to back with her but I didn’t feel to ‘whyle out’. This makes me wonder if I’ll ever get starstruck? Maybe with Pharrell/Denzel Washington or Drake…hmmm, we’ll see. lol

Dear Mr. Cottontail,

There seems to be an increasing number of you and your kin moving into my backyard. At first I didn’t mind and I actually enjoyed your antics. Dashing here and there. Pouncing on one another. Climbing onto the tree stump to look over your land. Putting on x-rated shows for the kids to watch and question. Even sleeping in the garden.

But you’re multiplying.

And you’re multiplying fast. Now your friends hide under whatever vehicle happens to be in the driveway. While I’m not your best friend; I also don’t want to run you over. Yet.

There are babies living under the neighbors shed and in the back corner. Now I must worry about them being chased by the neighbor dogs and chopped by the lawn mower. I am not able to handle such responsibility.

Could you stay off the porch too? You know that is the chipmunks territory. Plus, plants that are in pots are completely off limits. There is no need for you to jump in any pot and nibble on the plants. There are plenty of gardens around town. Expand your horizons a bit. HOP AROUND.
