Thought I should share this fun Vogue simulated poll with my readers. 10 best dressed looks of each year in the decade, and you take your pick! Below are my picks. Click here to vote.

2000

I remember seeing this dress for the first time. Charlize was the first, in a long time, to channel the old hollywood glamour and it was a huge and memorable hit.

Charlize Theron Vera Wang Dress

2001

Another monumental dress. The night of the Oscars, not only did Julia win the Oscar, but this vintage Valentino also won her the best dressed acclamation.

Julia Roberts Vintage Valentino Oscar Gown

2002

I can’t say I don’t remember this vintage looking cap sleeved lace Valentino gown. Reese looks absolutely stunning.

Reese Witherspoon in Lace Valentino Gown

2003

Kate Hudson, spotted in the 2003 Oscars, in a regal champagne Versace gown looking stunning, and like a clone of her mother.

Kate Hudson in a Champagne Versace

2004

Chloe Sevigny looks dazzling in this sequined cocktail dress. The only thing I am thinking about is, I want this dress NOW! It fits perfectly in 2010.

Chloe Sevigny in a silver cocktail dress

2005

Ahhh, the power of a female back. This amazing Guy Laroche midnight blue gown looks demure from the front, but the back speaks sexy. This was by far the first time Hilary Swank looked like a real woman.

Hilary Swank in Midnight Blue Guy Laroche Gown

2006

It was hard for me to pick between Keira Knightley and Michelle Williams. But Keira won! I don’t know if it is Michelle’s dress color on her skin tone or just that you can never go wrong with Valentino and White?

Keira Knightley in White Valentino

2007

Georgina Chapman, one half of the Marchesa design duo, looked stunning at the Vanity Fair Party, in none other than a Marchesa gown. Who doesn’t love Marchesa, and THIS one especially?

Georgina Chapman in Marchesa

2008

Penelope Cruz is the definition of modern day classic. I don’t know what this dress is, but I love it.

Hi my fire fighters ! I have something a little new for you. Here is the FIRST contributed feature post by one of my favorite creative minds, Miss Mila Morgasm.

If you are into mainstream, mediocrity, and are a resident of the land without imagination, you may want to skip this post. Chloe Sevigny wouldn’t fit into ANY of those categories.

Born and raised in Darien, Connecticut, aka one of the most affluent towns in the U.S., she desired some FIRE in her life. During her senior year of high school she shaved her head, turned 18 and moved to New York, where she had a lucky break and was actually DISCOVERED. One of the fashion editors of the once thriving, magazine Sassy discovered her in the East Village because of her killer style and gave her a job as an intern. And so it had begun…

Chloe is a sort of…treasure. She has that special je ne sais quoi about her. She isn’t afraid to be who she is and do what she wants. She’s modeled, been a spokeswoman for MAC cosmetics, created clothing lines, mostly consisting of vintage-inspired looks, and of course most notably, she is known for being one of the Indie film queens of our generation.

And being an Indie queen means she is not afraid to push the limit. She’s played an HIV positive teenage skateboarder in “Kids”, the love interest of a motorcyclist who she performs (real live close up) fellatio on in “Brown Bunny”, and the 2nd wife of a polygamist on the Showtime show “Big Love”, (just to give a few of the dozens of controversial roles she’s taken on. Pretty much if you haven’t already, GET INTO MISS CHLOE

This is obviously long overdue, but I’ve recently fell head over heels in love with Coconut Records’ “Davy” album. You have it, right? IT’S OUT OF THIS WORLD! So easy to listen to/fun to sing along to. Also, Jason Schwartzman is dreamy and oh-so talented. Here are my top 3 favorite songs!

1.) Saint Jerome

2.) Any Fun (video includes a Chloe Sevigny cameo!)

3.) Microphone (another awesomely cute video)

Best Motion Picture – Drama

Sólo me he visto una, por descarte selecciono mi ganadora

Avatar (2009)
The Hurt Locker (2008)
Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire (2009)
Up in the Air (2009/I)

Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

(500) Days of Summer (2009)
The Hangover (2009)
It’s Complicated (2009)
Julie & Julia (2009)
Nine (2009)

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama

Desierto por ahora

Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart (2009)
George Clooney for Up in the Air (2009/I)
Colin Firth for A Single Man (2009)
Morgan Freeman for Invictus (2009)
Tobey Maguire for Brothers (2009/I)

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama

Emily Blunt for The Young Victoria (2009)
Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side (2009)
Helen Mirren for The Last Station (2009)
Carey Mulligan for An Education (2009)
Gabourey ‘Gabby’ Sidibe for Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire (2009)

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

Matt Damon for The Informant! (2009)
Daniel Day-Lewis for Nine (2009)
Robert Downey Jr. for Sherlock Holmes (2009)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt for (500) Days of Summer (2009)
Michael Stuhlbarg for A Serious Man (2009)

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

Sandra Bullock for The Proposal (2009/I)
Marion Cotillard for Nine (2009)
Julia Roberts for Duplicity (2009)
Meryl Streep for It’s Complicated (2009)
Meryl Streep for Julie & Julia (2009)

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture

Christopher Plummer for The Last Station (2009)
Julianne Moore for A Single Man (2009)

Best Director – Motion Picture

Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker (2008)
James Cameron for Avatar (2009)
Clint Eastwood for Invictus (2009)
Jason Reitman for Up in the Air (2009/I)
Quentin Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Best Screenplay – Motion Picture

District 9 (2009): Neill Blomkamp, Terri Tatchell
The Hurt Locker (2008): Mark Boal
Nine (2009): Maury Yeston(“Cinema Italiano”)

Best Original Score – Motion Picture

Aún no he visto la peli pero gracias a un amigo ya escuché la banda sonora completa de Where the Wild Things Are y es ganadora

Avatar (2009): James Horner
The Informant! (2009): Marvin Hamlisch
A Single Man (2009): Abel Korzeniowski
Up (2009): Michael Giacchino
Where the Wild Things Are (2009): Carter Burwell, Karen Orzolek

Best Animated Film

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)
Coraline (2009)
Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
The Princess and the Frog (2009)
Up (2009)

Best Foreign Language Film

Best Television Series – Drama

Little Dorrit (2008)
Sigourney Weaver for Prayers for Bobby (2009) (TV)

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy

Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock (2006)
Steve Carell for The Office (2005)
David Duchovny for Californication (2007)
Thomas Jane for Hung (2009)
Matthew Morrison for Glee (2009)

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy

Toni Collette for United States of Tara (2009)
Courteney Cox for Cougar Town (2009)
Edie Falco for Nurse Jackie (2009)
Tina Fey for 30 Rock (2006)
Lea Michele for Glee (2009)

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama

Simon Baker for The Mentalist (2008)
Michael C. Hall for Dexter (2006)
Jon Hamm for Mad Men (2007)
Bill Paxton for Big Love (2006)

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama

Glenn Close for Damages (2007)
January Jones for Mad Men (2007)
Julianna Margulies for The Good Wife (2009)
Anna Paquin for True Blood (2008)
Kyra Sedgwick for The Closer (2005)

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television

Michael Emerson for Lost (2004)
Neil Patrick Harris for How I Met Your Mother (2005)
William Hurt for Damages (2007)
Jeremy Piven for Entourage (2004)

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television

Jane Adams for Hung (2009)
Rose Byrne for Damages (2007)
Jane Lynch for Glee (2009)
Janet McTeer for Into the Storm (2009) (TV)
Chloë Sevigny for Big Love (2006)

Every once in a blue moon I find myself falling for a certain girls style and trying to emulate it as my own. Sometimes she is a friend or co-worker or even a celebrity, but more often than not I will try a few sample outfits as this new persona and end up going back to my tried and true digs. Each person has left me with a new understanding of fashion and even a few great outfits, which I think is the best way to keep your style evolving. Recently…ok for a while now, I have loved the nerd meet downtown chic vibe of Chloe Sevigny. It could be the fact that I watch her on Big Love and cannot connect THAT character with her fashion persona. How can an 80’s bang wearing, french-braid loving Mormon transform into a chic, sexy, cool girl about town? I am baffled.

To honor my girl crush on Chloe, here is a montage of some of my favorite looks….enjoy!

It’s my last day of work for TWELVE DAYS. It’s a Hannukah miracle! Yes! Okay, to be fair

It’s my last day of work for TWELVE DAYS. It’s a Hannukah miracle! Yes!

Okay, to be fair, it’s my last day at the studio, but I still have articles coming out of every orifice. But those should be wrapped up by Monday at the latest and then I am free as O.J. Wait, O.J. is in jail now, right? Maybe that doesn’t work. Hmmm.

I still have a lot to do, but I wanted to give some quick thoughts on the Golden Globe noms that came out yesterday. I’d love to comment on the movie stuff, but I simply haven’t seen enough of them yet to do so. I did, however, see Up In The Air last night and I loved it. The movie is great and Mr. Clooney is as charming as ever. I also adore Vera Farmiga, but that’s nothing new. And what is this movie and drink and popcorn for 12 bucks deal? Why did I not know about this sooner? I think it’s because I go to so many matinees. I’m clearly going to a movie every Tuesday from now on.

On to the TV nominations, though.

1) GLEE! I’m so happy for the show, for Lea Michele and for the surprise nod for Matthew Morrison. I expected Jane Lynch to get a nod, but it doesn’t make it any less awesome. See her comic genius here:

2) Julianna Margulies. I don’t know why I have taken to The Good Wife as much as I have. It’s pretty low-key. There are no Desperate Housewives-like shockers, no Grey’s-like romances and no 90210/Gossip Girl-like scandal. But it’s still got me captivated and that’s probably because of Julianna. Very happy with this one!

3) Big Love. It is killing me that I haven’t seen season 3 yet (although I’ve read many spoilers). I’m still really happy the show got nommed and that Chloe Sevigny finally got some due recognition! I can’t wait to see season 3 on DVD!

4) January Jones. I just don’t get the appeal. I think she’s awful.

5) Jon Hamm. Yum.

6) Entourage was nominated for Best Comedy? Really? Is it 2006?

7) I am thrilled that Modern Family got nominated, but where are the cast members? Sofia Vergara is hilarious! Ty Burrell? Julie Bowen? Where are you?

Courtney Cox-Arquette deserved her nomination and I really hope she can finally get the Emmy nom she never got for Friends.

Okay, work time. I promise to blog more once I am home in Ottawa on Friday. Unless my mom annoys me to death with requests to join Farmville. Seriously, yesterday she pulled out a “What if I die tomorrow? You will feel terrible because you didn’t join for me.” I also got a “I’ll ask my good son, then. He will do it for me,” a sentiment that is all the more hilarious because my brother won’t even authorize my mom as a facebook friend let alone join Farmville. But, seriously, let’s hope I don’t get pestered into oblivion. Okay, end scene.

Shalom,

With Greta teething like crazy, no one in our household has been getting much sleep lately. So, since I was still awake at 4:30AM this morning, I figured I may as well stay up to watch the Golden Globe Nominations at 5:00AM. I mean, what’s another half hour at that point, huh?

Well, apparently the Hollywood Foreign Press is as punctual as I am, because, even though their website said the nominations would begin at 5:00AM PST, they didn’t actually get to the good stuff till 5:37AM!! And trust me, trying to stay awake for those last 37 minutes sucked ass. Jesus, get it together, HFPA!

Anyway, there weren’t a whole lot of surprises this year on the movie side, except for the near total snubs of “The Lovely Bones”, “The Road” and “Where The Wild Things Are” — but it was cool to see three of our favorite actors (Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep and Matt Damon) score double nominations and, seriously, anytime Julianne Moore is nominated for an award is a happy day in my book. Now if she could actually win something sometime I’d be even happier!

Also glad to see Tarantino back in the thick of things with “Inglourious Basterds” raking up all kinds of Globes love, and though we haven’t watched our screener of “Up In The Air” yet, I am already in love with the movie from the trailers, so, kudos to Clooney and company on that front too. It was also very cool to see “Avatar” do so well and a smaller movie like “District 9″ score a coveted screenplay nomination. Wow…who knew the HFPA dug Sci Fi? Awesome!

But the big news of the day was on the TV front where Fox’s “Glee” very-deservedly cleaned freaking house with three acting nominations and a nod for Best Television Series Musical or Comedy. Hooray! After years of kicking ass in everything she does, Jane Lynch is finally nominated for an award! Coolness! Go-to character actresses like Alison Janney better watch their backs in the years to come, because the white-hot Lynch is on a roll, baby!

Also very happy to see “Big Love” score a few well-deserved nominations (go, Chloë Sevigny!) and we were very excited to see two of our favorite new shows, “Modern Family” and “The Good Wife” score some nods. Rock on, newbies!

My only complaint today are the three nominations for Lifetime’s God-awful “Georgia O’Keefe” biopic. That movie really, really sucked. Not only did it totally squander the considerable talents of it’s two lead actors, Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons, but it was so damn boring that it made Lifetime’s epic 2008 train wreck, “Coco Chanel” look interesting. And yes, I actually Tivo-ed (and watched!!) both of those lame-ass movies. Yikes…

But at the end of the day, the big story at this year’s Globes — which air on NBC on January 17th — isn’t gonna be about the nominees at all. I mean, with Ricky Gervais hosting and the booze flowing freely, who really cares who wins?

From season to season Chloé Sevigny impresses me with her sense of style and eye for immaculate color palettes, proportions and fabrics. Her collections portray the modern day Coco Chanel. They have a great masculinity with delightful feminine qualities to create a great balance in graceful strength. I admire her way of showing a sexy boyish side to women.

My first review in the cult classics reviews is the Larry Clark film “Kids”–next is “Salo, or 120 Days of Sodomy” so stay tuned for that one!

“Kids” is one of those rare, great movies that is so unflinchingly honest and real that you completely forget you’re watching a movie with actors. It’s as if director Larry Clark pulled these kids off the innercity NYC streets and asked them to improv for a movie and this is what he filmed. The result is something brutal, raw, and extremely hard to take in at moments. Within the last five minutes, I was sitting in my seat horrified at what was about to happen and how hopeless the whole situation was. But that’s only half of Kid’s brilliance.

The film, which was relased in 1995, caused a great deal of controversy from conservative groups who viewed it as “exploitive” or “kiddie porn.” Because the movie was so shocking after recieving an NC-17 rating, it was then decided that the film would be relased without a rating.

I can tell your right now that “Kids” is a lot of things, but it is not exploitive or kiddie porn. In fact, compared to Clark’s later work, there’s a shockingly little amount of nudity and actual sex. But as a whole, the film is about sex and features the central characters talking about sex nearly all of the movie. And yes, some of the descriptions can be extremely graphic. But while the movie opens and closes with sex scenes, none of which are erotic in the least immediately shooting down the exploitive accusation, most of the movie deals with the forthcoming aftermath of these sexual encounters.

The only real plot in this movie beyond a day in the life of innercity teens who smoke, take drugs, drink, and get into fights is that of Jenny who has been diagnosed with the AIDs virus after only having sex once. Jenny’s mistake was screwing Telly who has made it his mission to deflower has many virgins in the city as possible (the younger the better) because he believes he won’t get any STDs that way. Yes, everyone, that’s irony at it’s best since Telly already has AIDs–apparently one of his virgin conquests wasn’t very honest about her virginity. After being diagnosed, Jenny goes on a mission to find Telly and break the news to him that he gave her AIDS, and he has it too.

Chloe Sevigny, who plays Jenny, is the heart and soul of this movie. She’s instantly the most likable, and the one you feel the most sympathy for. Chloe wears the pained and distraught expressions on her face like a badge of honor. But she’s also one of the scariest characters. Sure, most of these characters get what’s coming to them, but it’s a cruel fact of life that the poor vigrin girl who was coaxed into having sex with some sleazy guy who insists on not wearing protection will get AIDs all because of one stupid moment of lack of judgement. The message is clear as you’re watching Sevigny’s unraveling, this can happen to anyone. And it is, right now.

The only other likable character, within reason, is Casper (played by the late Justin Pierce). While he does do some pretty horrible things, I couldn’t help but feel a huge sense of sadness watching him go down in complete destruction. Casper is clearly the type who is easily influenced–yes, you know the type: the best friend who will go along with whatever the other one is doing because he wants to be as cool his friend, and wants acceptance which leads into doing some pretty awful things. But as much as Casper engages in drug use, stealing, fighting, and drinking he’s also one of the few characters who seems to have a bit of a conscious. The scene on the subway seems to be the best indicator of this when he gives money to a man with no legs, and when Telly begins talking about his next sexual conquest target. Pierce plays the scene brilliantly, acting distracted, a little uninterested and shocked at what his best friend is saying; at one point even exclaiming, “She’s (Darcy) thirteen, man!”

Which brings me to Telly. Behold, the most disgusting character ever written for film. With his crooked teeth, baby face, and nasal-y voice, it’s almost amazing to me that Telly was able to sweet talk any girl into sleeping with him. But as I heard someone point out a few days ago, it was probably intended to be this way. The fact that Telly is (let’s be honest) ugly, and Casper is attractive only further extends your hate for what a sleazebag he is. And you watch in complete horror as he seduces thirteen year old Darcy, knowing that this poor girl is about to have her life ruined by AIDs.

The one scene that completely shook me was the next to last one. (SPOILER) Casper walks in on Telly and Darcy naked and asleep in bed, and desperately wanting to be like his friend and get laid, goes into the living room and finds Jenny lying on the couch, asleep. So, with his best friend as his only guide, Casper slowly takes of Jenny’s pants and rapes her (although I don’t think in Casper’s mind it was rape, as he kept telling her it’s her friend Casper and he was so drunk/high that he probably believed she was awake and enjoying it). The sex scene is probably one of the most uncomfortable scenes you will ever watch, and the one continuous thought in your head is, “Casper, no! Don’t!!” (or at least it was in mine). I think, for me, the saddest part about it was, Casper had potential to be a really good person once he grew up and got out of the city. And he threw it all away in an attempt to get laid and be like his best friend.

The last shot in the movie features Casper sitting on a couch finally coming to realize what’s just happened with a look of horror, shock, and bewilderment all across his face that stays there until the fade-out. That one look perfectly sums up the viewere’s feelings after watching this, and is now one of my favorite shots of any movie. If this were real life, all four of these characters would probably be dead by now. And that’s a pretty deafening thought.

“Kids” is definitely essential viewing for anyone mature enough to realize these teeangers are not someone you should emulate. And it should be required viewing for parents if they realize not all kids are like this, but a very specific group. I read on Amazon that parents should make it a point to watch this movie with their kids, and then ask them what they thought about it. And actually listen to what they have to say. It could give you a great deal of insight into how closely their lives parrell the kids featured in this movie. And if it raises awareness of the world teens now are living in, and possibly straightens a teen out, then this movie has done it’s job.

On a side note, if you are sexually active, do yourself a favor, and take the time to be tested for AIDs this week. It was world AIDs day Monday. Know who you’re sleeping with.

I’ve got an excuse this time. My absence has been due to important changes in my professionnal career. It’s for good, but I’m not sure that I can manage to keep this blog. I’ll inform you as soon as I know. In the meanwhile, I leave you with the best one in the best dress by the best label.

—————

For Immediate Release :: 12.3.2009

Owner Richard Colligan has taken his New York chic vintage store, Metropolis Vintage, into the online world to better connect with the people who relish in it’s vast and endless vintage collection. Nestled in the heart of East Village, Metropolis is known for their amazing vintage shoe and boot collection along with concert T’s that line the walls of the two-level vintage gem. The second level is part of a brand new expansion that coincides with the recent openings and current dorms in the area including NYU, Parsons, New School, Cooper Union, and the School of Visual Arts. New York City’s favorite stars Chloe Sevigny, Rachel Weisz, Zoe Kravitz, Parker Posey, Keanu Reeves and top models Gemma Ward, Agness Dynn, and Joy Bryant also turn to Metropolis for their fabulous vintage looks that can been seen in magazines and the tabloids.

Now vintage enthusiasts living or visiting the NYC area that have cherished the shop for the past 19 years, can be more involved with the store’s community. News, promotions, and store happenings can all be seen online and will be promoted throughout their website, Twitter and Facebook accounts. Richard Colligan is passionate about Metropolis. “My goal for Metropolis is to treat the store like a museum by picking items that are unique and special, but also being fun, affordable and wearable for any night on the town,” says Richard.

Metropolis’ future is bright. Metropolis and it’s newly opened second level can be seen in the upcoming film, “Happy, Thank You, More Please.” written by How I Met Your Mother’s Josh Radnor. Along with movie spotlights, the shop will also be opening an online store for clients not located in NYC. From Manhattan fashionistas to Brooklyn hipsters, Richard suggests people stay tuned because as the neighborhood continually evolves, as does Metropolis… and if a store knows how to bring the fun into fashion, it’s Metropolis.

About Metropolis
In 1995 after four years of being located in LES, Richard moved Metropolis to its currently location of 3rd Ave & 10th St., which is conveniently situated in the heart of East Village near St. Marks and many college dorms. New college students and seasoned college graduates have turned to Metropolis for their [vintage] fashion needs. Metropolis has become a staple to New York City’s vintage fashion community. Metropolis’ items have found their way into the hands of Iggy Pop, David LaChapelle, The Pixies and members of Sonic Youth throughout the years. Known for their endless shoe and boot collection, Metropolis, Richard Colligan and his staff are committed to carrying vintage pieces that will help them become a leader in the vintage shoe and boot market throughout New York City.

Jason Segel–we love you, man.

APPEARANCE: 3.5

L: I have a big crush on Jason Segel’s face (and tallness)! He looks fun and boyish, and totally presents himself as the (tall) guy best friend who I never realized I should love until now. I appreciate his smiley ways, and how he can look goofy but still good looking. He wears scruffiness well. He should show up at the Ultimate Party wearing a suit with his tie half undone, his hair half mussed and his face unshaven for a few days, and looking slightly sheepish. It’s a good look on him. I also appreciated his wacky, laidback scrub look in I Love You, Man—he coupled it with floppy, curly hair!

I: He is a large man! And I agree, he has boyish qualities that make him crush-worthy. But he’s almost got like, this mushy face. I never saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall and doesn’t he show full frontal in that? I guess that will be the true test of whether he gets a “5” from me! Har har. Oh! And I hate him with a goatee like in Knocked Up. Ugh.

PORTFOLIO: 4

I: Well, much like Seth Rogen, Jason Segel has been riding the Judd Apatow train for a bit too long. It’s time to break out into something that will surprise and impress us! Woo us, Jason Segel! I need him to show me that he can act successfully without his security blanket of cast members. Of course, I enjoyed Freaks & Geeks and thought he really did a good job on that show. He was more complex than most of the other characters!

L: Yes @ J.Seg being on F&G and showing more depth than the others by doing a rendition of “Lady”! Although I wonder if he never did the show, if he would have met J.Franco and Seth Rogen, thus Judd Apatow… I think he needs to lean away from doing gross boy movies and try to score some John Cusack-esque roles. When you can’t be Brad Pitt, be John Cusack, who’s a thousand times more awesome anyway. But I think he’s on the up and up, giving that he’s actually going to scribe the next Muppets movie, do some voice acting and act in Gulliver’s Travels. I’m glad he’s experimenting.

CHOICES: 3

L: J.Segel was Frenching Chloe Sevigny in public like a couple of French people at a Frenching festival. How do you feel about that?

I: That is such a RANDOM couple! Are they a couple? Does he have a significant other? He seems earnest about his work so I guess that’s nice. His Wiki page claims that he’s a “musician.” I hope he doesn’t try to pull out any bullshit music career on us.

PERSONALITY: 4

I: I hope J.Seg would mix and mingle well with the Ultimate Party crowd and not just huddle in a corner with SR all night! I worry that he wouldn’t demonstrate interest in others; he would just blab on about himself and his hopes and dreams all night. SNOOZE!

L: Yes, we’ll have to encourage Seth Rogen and J.Segel to mingle with the other guests. Maybe we can give them doctored invitations, showing them when to show up and when to leave so they’ll never be there at the same time. They don’t need to be startin’ no Flip Cup and getting noisy together. I don’t think that J.Segel would be self-absorbed and chat about himself. I think that he would be interesting and chatty, but leave you wanting more because he has the attention span of a gnat and gets pulled in multiple directions—basically the J.Mraz problem.

ROMANTIC POTENTIAL: 3

L: It might be fun to be his girlfriend. I like that he’s got a lot of varied interests and is dabbling in all sorts of things. He seems like he’d always be entertaining, and he’d be useful at retrieving things from atop high shelves for me. But what about long-term potential? Would he do something awesome for your birthday? Would he take an active interest in what you’re up to despite his busy schedule?

I: This is why I fear he’d only be interested in chatting about himself and his MYRIAD projects! Anything you’re doing is lackluster in comparison. I worry about how tied down he is with other projects. I need a dude who just has one awesome job (like John Krasinski!) and then we can chat equally in the eves. Also, he seems like he’d be sloppy in bed, y/n?

L: Yeah, I guess I could see that. He’d hurry through it then jump right up while zipping up his pants (which he never really took off all the way), rushing off to his next project.

SUGGESTIONS

I: Hm.. I don’t know. I’d really have to hang out with him for a while, like on a date maybe, to see if he’s worthy. I suggest Jason Segel woo me!

L: Agreed, a date’s in order. I want Jason Segel to take me mini golfing.

Within the next few weeks, I will be reviewing some of the most controversial, thought-provoking, and well-known cult classics in context of their social impact and the message they’re trying to send (if any).

These will range from the campy to the heartbreaking. Below is a list of the first few movies being reviewed, check back tomorrow for the first one (“Kids”) and in the coming weeks for more! I’m going to try to do one or two a week. And please comment! I’d love suggestions, and discussions about the movies being reviewed. If it repulsed you, let me know. If it changed your life, then definitely let me know. Either way, I’d love to have a dialogue going about the films being discussed.

And now, in order, are the films being reviewed:

1) Kids

2) Salo, or 120 Days of Sodomy

3) Showgirls

4) The Doom Generation

5) Female Trouble

If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments!! I’m open to anything.
