Both lil girls have recovered from the week long of sickness. They are back to their old self now…

Zoey still look abit skinny after losing 3kg within a week although she recovered now. in fact she started school again since last week. however, yesterday Zoey was sent back by her kindy after she was tested abit warm ( infact 37.3 ). later in the afternoon, daddy received a sms from her school telling us that the school have 2 kids down with fever and chicken pox. After discussion with grandma, we decided to stop Zoey from school today onwards since school holidays is just a few day away. We don’t want her to cought the bug as her immune system at this moment are not strong yet so we scared she may cought the bug and later spread to her sister…

As for Chloe, she recovered much faster than her jie jie and infact ,  her appetite returned. She keep on requesting for food from us. Sometimes, we refused to give as sometimes she ate until she vomit. But seeing her recovered and no longer losing her appetite, we are so relieved after seeing her suffering for almost a week. However, according to her paed doc, she is at the high risk catergory now with the monsoon season. and we need to be very careful in taking care of her as she may get the attack again. after experiencing all times, more or less we are able to cope if the attack comes again.

CRISE !!! pom pom pom… Les causes de cette crise sont faciles à déterminer… J’ai passé une bonne partie de l’après-midi à laver l’appartement de fond en comble et le fait que le mâle ne participe pas m’a beaucoup énervée. Du coup, une fois l’appartement en ordre… J’me suis lâchée. Pour la prochaine fois : me détendre et me faire plaisir autrement que via la bouffe !!!

- Nettoyage de l’appartement.

J’ai pris soin de moi !

Baon. Journée passée avec Elle et Elle, resto et… dérapage en soirée ! Bah ouais, puisque j’avais déjà trop mangé à midi, autant y aller à fond pour me pourrir la journée ! Admirez le raisonnement du ex-anorexique qui fonctionne au tout ou rien depuis des années…

Enfin, pas grâââââve, ça ira mieux demain ’spa ?! Et puis surtout… J’ai reçu mes sandales open-toes Chloé ! 51€ (hors frais de port) sur ebay, plutôt sympa naon ?

Et puis, comme on peut le constater sur cette photo, j’ai également acheté un petit sapin lumineux qui contribue à créer une ambiance très chaleureuse dans notre appartement…

We spent the whole day out on Saturday.

Had LNT class in the morning (Japanese lesson this week) —> went to see Agape open house —> went home to shower & feed Chloe lunch —> went to my colleague’s house warming —> went Vivo then Bugis to buy Xmas present.

Phew…..I felt tired just typing it out. How did we actually survived it?

End of the year is usually a busy period for hubby. Come December, he will have to work on every single weekend (and I mean whole day work). I’m not confident to do Xmas shopping alone with Chloe, so I had no choice but to settle it within these 2 weeks.

I’m very lucky this year, it only took me 2 days to complete my Xmas shopping!!!

Due to the tight schedule, I did not cook anything to bring as Chloe’s dinner and I’m also in the “it’s ok to let Chloe eat outside food” mood. We had dinner at Ajisen and ordered a kid’s meal for her, the meal was served on an aeroplane plate (nice looking but not practical to use).

Chloe had a great time self-feeding and for us, we had a great time cleaning the table. The aeroplane plate is very shallow so whenever Chloe tries to scoop the food, some of it will sure drop onto the table.

Ironically, I just realized from the pics that Chloe was wearing her “Bless this mess” bib. Hur hur…

Took some photos with the indoor Xmas tree in Bugis. There are 2 Xmas tree in Bugis, the other one which is at outdoor is not attractive enough to make me whip out my camera.

On Sunday, my dad wasn’t working so we went Causeway point to have lunch. We took a train as it’s only 4 stations away. Kate & Chloe were happy to see and be on the train.

Both of them decided to play “catching” just below the block while on the way home. They had so much fun running about with hubby pretending to chase them.

Chloe fell twice cos she’s still not very good with running yet. She did not make a noise after she fell, just got up and continue running. It’s either the fall is not painful or her skin is really thick to not feel the pain.

On a side note, I found out that Toast box serves nice milk tea. Now I know where to go if I have sudden tea cravings.

From playing the spoilt and always sunny Summer in the O.C to the more grown up roles as Millie in Jumper or as Molly in the much anticipated movie, New York, I love you. Although her choice of roles has changed one thing that Rachel has stayed true to herself is her ever sweet but, always with an edge style. I for one is especially taken by her approach to vintage clothing, she has said to be a collector herself and it’s not hard to spot the vintage pieces she includes in her daily outfits. Unlike, Kirsten Dunst, another vintage lover, Rachel’s approach is softer and more accessible.

How to get the looks?!

1. Stick to your body shape _ if you are petite like Rachel you should stick with tighter and more fitted ‘bottoms’ ie. her trusted stovepipe jeans. This will not overpower your frame and make you look short or frumpy.

2. Show your assets_ she has great legs and she shows it! We hardly ever see her in ‘maxi’ dresses and when she does she keeps it simple in the colour front so it doesn’t weigh her down.

3. The key is ‘balance’_ don’t pair a loose top with another loose pants/shorts/skirts, it doesn’t have to be super ‘tight’ but, it needs to be ‘fitted’ as to balance out the loose top so it doesn’t make you disappear in the masses!

4. Stick with what works_ Rachel has this sweet aura about her and she sticks to it. She never dresses overtly sexy in her outfits instead, she ‘hints’ her sexiness within the realm of sweetness. This makes her very much loved by men and women!

5. Invest in funky accessories_ She plays with her shoes and bags. Often we see her with Chloe or Philip Lim’s bags and Christian Louboutin’s shoes. The ‘rider’ (jeans tucked into a pair of killer boots) look is also favoured by her as it makes one look svelte.

I am very sorry for not blogging during the last two weeks! I am pretty busy with university, my internship and a very special project. I hope to tell you more about it very soon!

This morning at net-a-porter.com this absolutly sophisticated looking dress by Chloé caught my eye . I love the simple elegant cut, the soft pinkish colour combined with black and the carefully chosen embellishments. A truely delighting modern 1920s vision causing painful grievance. Couldn’t there be a merciful Santa Claus?

My mum had her surgery today, to remove the lump in her hand. This surgery was postponed from last month. As usual, the whole gang took leave to look after the kids.

Our plan for the day is to bring Enya to KK hospital for her review, then to Forum Galleria to check out Julia Gabriel Centre and try to grab some Christmas presents at Toys ‘R’ Us.

Upon reaching Forum, we had lunch at Jade Palace for Dim Sum. I let Chloe ate by herself today; it’s her first time doing it outside.

Result consider not bad, she finished her lunch with some assistance. Only 10% of the food dropped into her bib and floor. Last time, about 50% were landed on the floor, 40% on the high chair and only 10% goes into her mouth.

We plan to switch school for both Kate & Chloe for them to try other stuffs. Have not decided which school we prefer. Since we were on leave, we took the opportunity check out Julia Gabriel Centre.

JGC’s environment is nice but the schedule for classes is not very suitable for me. They don’t have classes on Saturday for Chloe at Forum and they are having a long waiting list. The one at Evans Road is not very convenient for me in terms of location. Will have to see how we can work around the schedule or look for other alternatives.

Toys ‘R’ Us trip considered quite a success, I managed to get toys for Chloe & Enya (both getting puzzles) and chose the present for my bro & SIL to buy for Chloe. We already bought Kate’s present last week.  I still got 3 more presents to buy for my friend’s kids then I’m done for the Christmas shopping!

Impressed with Forum’s changing room. Love the brass tap and the wallpaper and lightings, makes the whole room feels so comfy. I like shopping malls with nice changing room, it’s an effort to show that they are family friendly.

Aidan and Liam are having a tea party with their ghost friend, Fireball. Chloe was not invited.

Hello-Hello and welcome to a Wednesday!

We start today with a look at a new phenomenon in online shopping, courtesy of several upscale retailers: the limited-time sale. It generally starts with an email like this:

The image above is from a Neimans email we received Monday; it is for the ‘midday dash’ at Neiman Marcus, a two-hour online-only sale.  At the appointed time this is what a savvy shopper will see at the Needless Markup Neiman Marcus site; the merchandise changes with each sale.

As described in a July story in the Times:

“Customers learn about the sale mere hours before it begins. This week’s “dash” featured a $697 Burberry handbag, marked down from $1,395. A Carmen Marc Valvo chiffon gown was $575, down from $1,150. And Cole Haan flats were $82, down from $165.”

By no means is Neimans the only luxury retailer trying new ways to prompt consumers to open (re-open?) those pocketbooks.  The following screen grab shows what one sees today after the most recent Saks ‘Fashion Fix’ sale ended.

The Fashion Fix email explained “Today, the rush begins. Get Yours. Online Only.” and promoted 50% savings on top brands at Saks like Herve Leger, Alice and Olivia, Chloè, and more.

However, not all ’secret sales’ are online only, as the Times story details:

“… the benefits of secret sales — whispered discounts and discreet price negotiations between customers and sales staff in the aisles of upscale chains. A time-worn strategy typically reserved for a store’s best customers, it has become more democratized as the recession drags on and retailers struggle to turn browsers into buyers.”

Nor do the higher-end stores want to tell everyone in the world about their discounted goods.

“The conventional wisdom is that the more consumers who know about a sale, the better for business. But that rule does not necessarily hold in luxury retailing.”

The Journal has also written about the relatively new practice; from their October story on Saks testing this method of selling:

“The realm of online “private sales” so far has been dominated by a small number of retail startups that specialize in the brief sales of discount designer apparel. Their Web sites, including Gilt.com, RueLaLa.com and HauteLook.com, have built a following with virally marketed, daily “members only” sales.”

Below, a recent Rue La La screen shows listings for that day’s ’boutiques’.

AOL’s Daily Finance has more on how the designers’ perceive these sales:

“The sites are popular with designers, who’d rather have their goods sold there than hung in clearance racks at department stores. Designers know their brands are their currency and they are very wary about cheapening them; it’s a constant point of friction between designers and department stores. That’s why you’ll never find Hermès sold off-price.”

Back to Stephanie Rosenbloom’s story in the Times, with more on the psychology behind selling this way:

“Such discreet sales preserve a brand’s veneer of exclusivity and help create a sense of urgency by limiting the time customers have to score a deal. Additionally, secret sales enable stores to discount their merchandise deeply without angering regular customers who may have bought at full price.”

In many respects this doesn’t seem all that different from what many retailers have been doing online for some time, providing early notice to its better customers of special discounts, sale and promotional events. One issue that may be a concern is overexposure; below, another email received here at the Prepatorium from Neimans, this one touting the Last Call sale currently underway.

Some customers may start to feel inundated with ’special sale’ notifications and promotions.  It’s no secret that we find J. Crew a repeat offender in this category, with the volume of email creating a perception that everything is always ‘on sale’, and if not currently ‘on sale’, it will be ‘on sale’ again very soon.

On the other hand, here at the Princess we have been told we should email customers on our mailing lists more frequently. We only send our newsletters to those requesting them, generally every four to five weeks.  We take your email address and privacy very seriously, and while desirous of offering special savings and sharing new merchandise with you, we want those occasions to remain ’special’. Also on the hit parade today, a follow-up to yesterday’s post showing a rather scantily clad Blake Lively attending the premiere of her new film. It is not unusual for Ms. Lively to be out and about in such apparel (or lack thereof), while Gossip Girl co-star Leighton Meester is generally deemed to be more conservatively clad.  Ummm… perhaps not so much any more.

Speaking of G2, there is word today that Michelle Trachtenberg is doing a jewelry line with Coach.  From the story in today’s WWD:

“Trachtenberg will apply her tough-girl meets sugary-sweet vibe to her first jewelry collection in collaboration with Coach under the accessories giant’s youthful and spirited Poppy line.”

The new line will launch next Spring.

We loved shopping at this retailer when they entered the US market many years back (ultimately an unsuccessful endeavor), but we have not visited any located on the far side of the pond for years.

Chloe gets punishment every single day….she’s a very stubborn child and likes to throw tantrums easily. She throw tantrums by throwing things at the floor (whatever thing she can grab hold of), it’s her way to express her anger, a habit which I really dislike.

I will first try to tell her nicely to stop throwing stuffs, most of the time, she won’t listen and will continue to do it.

Next come my verbal warning, telling her that she will receive punishment if she continue (most of the time, she won’t stop).

Then punishment will come, we used to use cane to hit on the table or floor to make her stop her tantrums. We decided to avoid cane as much as possible, only to be use on major tantrums.

Now we use time out.

We had tried using time out before but it didn’t really work, she was still young then and doesn’t understand why is she at the time out area. Now it’s different, not only does she know what time out is for, she even know how to get people to “rescue” her.

Just today, she try to get people to “rescue” her from time out 3 times (yah, she can get “that” many times of punishment per day).

First, it was in the morning. Being sent to time out by my mum. My dad happens to be not working today so she decides to get him to rescue her. Besides waving frantically for him to come, she kept calling “gong gong” in her sweetest voice.

The moment my dad is near, she immediately hug him tightly by the neck and attempt to “koala” him. Just like that, she’s being rescued out of time out.

Second time was in the evening. Being sent to time out again by my mum. She starts to babble in her baby language as if trying to talk her way out of the punishment, obviously it won’t work since no one understands what she’s trying to say.

Then she started singing and making funny faces at my mum, attempting to make my mum laugh. She knew that once my mum laugh, it’s a sign that she can escape from her punishment. She also tried to fake laughter just so my mum will follow.

End up, everyone at home couldn’t stand it and laughed cos they claimed that Chloe just look so funny.

Third time was before bedtime, being sent to time out by me. She also started to babble in her baby language the moment I put her there. Then she saw the maid walking back to the kitchen after disposing rubbish. She starts to wave frantically (again) while calling the maid to come “bao bao” (carry) her.

The maid knows that she’s not allowed to rescue Chloe, proceeds to hide in the kitchen (the place for time out is a corner that is facing the kitchen). With the maid out of sight, Chloe change from waving to clapping her hands while calling the maid’s name. You know, like how adults would do to get someone’s attention.

The maid did peep at her from the kitchen. When Chloe saw the maid peep, she will tell the maid to come “bao bao” her.

This round, no one rescue her. I let her go 2 mins later after she apologize.

See how cheeky she can be *sigh*……I don’t find her naughty and out of hand. I just find that she’s a tad too mischievous. She makes me angry but I find her funny at the same time. 真是又好气，又好笑。
