Frances, 73 Early on, from my own personal experiences growing up in a dysfunctional family setting,

Frances, 73

Early on, from my own personal experiences growing up in a dysfunctional family setting, I always believed that women should have the right to be in control of their own bodies, and that government and politics should not interfere with personal choice issues. It turns out being selfish is a dysfunctional behavior/attitude so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that I have these beliefs. It needs to be removed from the political arena so that the protective men of this world can’t make laws which could save millions of unborn babies from the dysfunctional grips of the women who want to murder them. Religious beliefs, too, should not even be a consideration (this view happens to be my religious belief as I am often communing with and praying to myself about these matters) — as that, too, is a purely personal issue, which people who want to let babies live insist on screaming the relationship between the decision to murder the babies and the God who created them.

ORIGINAL:

Early on, from my own personal experiences growing up in a dysfunctional family setting, I always believed that women should have the right to be in control of their own bodies, and that goverment and polictics should not interfere with personal choice issues. It needs to be removed from the political arena. Religious beliefs, too, should not even be a consideration–as that, too, is a purely personal issue which anti-abortionists insist on ‘coupling’ with the subject of abortion.

NOTES:

So… from a dysfunctional family setting Frances learned that women have the right to murder their unborn babies. Frances also missed the part in the constitution, which gives us the freedom to try to legalize a stupid thing like murdering unborn babies. Then there’s the part that says that everyone has inalienable rights, given to us by God, that allow us to pursue happiness (among other things). If our government weren’t ever involved with personal choice issues we wouldn’t have the freedoms we have today. We’d all be British and overcharged for our tea. If politics shouldn’t interfere with personal choice issues, why did it when it took the case of Roe versus Wade? And now that Roe won it should be removed from the political arena?! How convenient.

Here’s a funny thing that she says. “Religious beliefs… should not [be considered]“. Why not? Because people who love the unborn babies believe in a Jesus who wants them to live. I’m sure she thinks it’s pretty inconvenient when the God who created her sends His people to tell her, and others, that we’re made in His image and we shouldn’t be murdering those who are alive, but not yet born. Also, what’s her religious belief? If it’s not Jesus, it has to be in herself, the Universe, Super Mario (by the way, why doesn’t anyone talk about Super Luigi?)… or SOMEthing. Who has religious beliefs which are personal and which you “couple” with the subject of murdering unborn babies?

Jerry,

When my wife was pregnant with our first child she was going to school for Massotherapy in a building that also housed a house of murder for unborn babies. At the time, she was about 4 months along and was showing. Every time she went to school they had security that had to escort her through an excited group of protesters who would tell her, “Don’t kill your baby!! You will hate yourself and regret it tomorrow!!”. This really upset her that people would be so excited to save lives before they know the facts regarding just how selfish the women are. From that point on we both strongly felt, in our deceptive hearts, that it should be a woman’s right to choose to murder her baby and that it should be no one’s business but the woman and the one true God in whom she denies faith. Remember, I don’t read the parts of the Bible where it says to protect life, so I tell people that God loves unconditionally and gives us free will (despite my twisting of what free will means and how it should be executed). Maybe everyone should follow His example and love others without the condition that they not violate the Holy nature of God and GIVE other people free will.

ORIGINAL:

When my wife was pregnant with our first child she was going to school for Massotherapy in a building that also had an abortion clinic in it. At the time she was about 4 months along and was showing a little. Every time she went to school they had security that had to escort her through a crazy mob of protestors who grabbed at her yelling things like “Dont kill your baby!!” “You will hate yourself and regret it tomorrow!!”. This really upset her that people would be so judgmental before they even know the facts. From that point on we both stongly felt that it should be a woman’s right to choose and that it should be no one’s buisness but the woman and her God. Remember God loves unconditionally and gives us free will. Maybey everyone should follow his example.

NOTES:

Maybey(?) not.

There’s different kinds of love. God doesn’t love you in a way that will get you into Heaven unless you’re covered in the blood of His Son Jesus Christ.

Has anyone ever seen a “sane mob”? I’m not talking about “flash mobs”? But what’s wrong with telling someone to not kill their baby? Shouldn’t someone regret murdering their child the morning after, if not sooner? If not, how will they ever repent?

What facts did they not know? She had a baby in her tummy. It was a baby. It was alive. It was growing. Inside of her. She was going to stop it from living and growing and being in her tummy before he/she was ready to live outside of her womb. With those facts, shouldn’t they judge the reality which they’re perceiving?

Also, there’s only one true God. He says, “don’t murder your children”. If you do so without repenting you will go to Hell. So the business between any woman and “her” God should be the same business as anyone else including warning people of the accidental or purposeful actions they might take.

But everyone should follow the example of Jesus.

Debbie, I’m 53 years old and remember when murdering unborn babies was illegal in all states.

Debbie,

I’m 53 years old and remember when murdering unborn babies was illegal in all states. The summer I graduated, I accompanied my best friend to New York so she could murder her baby. I attended a rally in Washington in the mid-80′s and will continue to do what I can to stand up for a woman’s right to murder her own baby without Murder charges in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd degrees. I still believe in “my baby, his/her murder”.

ORIGINAL:

I’m 53 years old and remember when abortion was not legal in all states. The summer I graduated, I accompanied my best friend to New York so she could terminate an unwanted pregnancy. I attended a rally in Washington in the mid-80′s and will continue to do what I can to stand up for a woman’s right to her own body without government interference. I still believe in “My body, my choice”.

NOTES:

It’s really sad when a woman will happily take another woman to murder her children. Women have rights to their own bodies. No one is trying to take these away. “My body, my choice”… what a stupid idea.

Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen will team up one more time at the Hall of Fame.

If you’ve never read David Halberstam’s “Playing for Keeps” or Sam Smith’s “The Jordan Rules” — both about the 1990s Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan, duh, and both essential — then you might not know how much Michael Jordan hated Scottie Pippen early in their careers.

Jordan realized Pippen’s immense talent, maybe even before Pippen did, and seeing Scottie’s inability to mold and develop those game-changing skills infuriated Jordan. He saw Pippen as mentally weak, soft and basically a disappointment. Then Scottie Pippen became one of the best players in the NBA, the Bulls won titles and Jordan accepted Pippen as a legit superstar, forming a bond the two would have through the rest of their lives. That’s a YertNotes version of the Jordan and Pippen saga, but that’s the gist of it and you’re the one who didn’t read two of the best basketball books ever written. Deal with it.

Anyhow, now that we’re all hip to the history behind the greatest duo of the 1990s, we can talk about how cool it is that Jordan will be giving the introduction speech for Pippen’s Hall of Fame induction this Friday. Hint: it’s George Clooney cool.

From NBA.com’s perilously named Adam Fluck:

“I can’t think of a better person to do it,” said Pippen on Monday. “Michael is someone I shared my career with, accomplishing most of what I have accomplished thus far. He was a great teammate, teacher and admirer. I’m excited to have an opportunity to be the first person that he has presented into the Hall of Fame. I figure if anyone deserves to be on the stage with me, it’s him.” [...]

Pippen said Jordan was “thrilled and overwhelmed” by the invitation. [...]

“I had other guys that I thought about, but Michael was by far the obvious choice and an easy one for me to make,” said Pippen.

So perfect, you guys. Like Scottie said, it’s “by far the obvious choice” and an “easy one,” but it’s still the right one. So happy.

It’s just good on so many levels. Pippen finally getting his moment in the spotlight and being honored by Jordan after years of being the second fiddle is really, really cool. I wish there were a more eloquent way I could say this, but the 7-year-old me is freaking out right now, and the 26-year-old version isn’t reacting much differently. Totally radical, dude.

Of course, with Jordan returning to the scene of his final score-settling there’s a little danger in giving him the microphone first so he can bust like a bubble. But honestly, I don’t see that being a problem. Even when Jordan was taking shots at each and every person who ever wronged him at any point in his life, he had nothing but kind words for Pippen. Scottie’s a guy he really cares for, and if his heartfelt performance when the Bulls honored Johnny “Red” Kerr is any indication of how he’ll act Friday, then this will go smoothly. I’m not even that worried about Jordan wearing mom jeans. I’ll let it slide this time.

Seriously, guys, Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan sharing a stage. They’re great. That’s great. Great.

Wow, so its uh been a long time hasnt it…..

well as I’ve said before and I’m sure i’ll say it again, if i dont have anything real to say im not going put it up here. I dont want to waste your time, and mine alike.

People always say that you’ll know where and what you’re supposed be going and doing as long as you’re looking for the signs. Also that life will show you the signs and be sure to point you in the right direction…. just as long as you are paying attention.

I’ve begun to notice that sometimes if you dont pay attention to these signs life will smack you in the face with them until you pay attention….

But it doesnt always mean its the right path.

I personally am not sure about this whole fate thing. I find it hard to believe that our entire paths have already been laid out for us. That our choices have already been made and we are going through predetermined motions…..

I mean seriously? fate knows that what im gonna have for lunch in two days? i seriously doubt it.

Now both thankfully and regretfully, there is not evidence to support nor deny either side of this argument.

Chachi Says: When it comes down to it the decision is ultimately yours for the choosing. Life can smack me in the face with as many signs as it wants but if i dont want that path….. my ass isnt going down it. Whats your thoughts?

Choosing A Spouse (Who The Brother Chooses)

There are several things sisters look for when they are looking for a mate. But unfortunately many of them look for the wrong thing. As one of my good friends said: “Akhii all they looking for these days is money cars and superstars”.. A plethora of sisters have chosen brothers upon the wrong criteria and have paid dearly as a result.

The Messenger (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) gave a golden advice to those who are the guardians of the sisters. He said: “If a man comes to you who has good religion and good manners than marry him (to the woman you are in charge of) and if you do not do so there will be great and widespread mischief on earth”. This hadeeth has many benefits and from them are:

1) The Muslim woman doesn’t just go on the street, sees a good looking brother and then seeks his hand in marriage . Rather this process goes through the guardian of the women. Hence for many sisters the process began on the wrong foot. And the scholars have said: “Whatever is built upon falsehood remains false”.

2) The man who is chosen should be one who has good deen i.e he should have knowledge of the religion and must act upon this knowledge. Whether it is in his belief, his understanding of jurisprudence or his dealings with others. He would also fear Allah in secret and in the open.

3) He should have good manners . And this would ensure that he treats his wife with the best of treatment and gives her the rights that were bestowed upon her by Allah the most high.

4) If this is not done there would be great mischief upon the earth .

No doubt mischief has been spread because this golden advice has not been taken by most guardians. And Allah’s help is sought. This is the case of what we would call ‘traditional’ Muslim families.

As for many reverts or even some sisters that grew up in Muslim homes they choose a man, whether Muslim or Kaafir, and seeks to marry him on the pretense of giving da’wah when in reality they wish to marry him for another purpose. This phenomenon is what is called in Trinidad the ‘Nikah Da’wah’. And what is sad is that when these relationships don’t work out they seek the help of the Muslims, and they complain, fret and get vext. I feel some sympathy but as the old saying goes you made your bed therefore lie down on it.

On this note I would like to lend some advice to the Muslims that would be beneficial to them. I am sure that all have seen that the common denominator for choosing a spouse is the religion and having good manners. If one knows this and doesn’t act accordingly then as we say in Trinidad: Crapaud smoke yuh pipe.

Choosing A Spouse (Who The Brother Chooses) This my dear brothers and sisters is the most integral p

Choosing A Spouse (Who The Brother Chooses)

This my dear brothers and sisters is the most integral part of marriage. The brother has to choose a sister and the sister has to choose a brother. So what happens usually?

The brother sees a sister on the street and says “Wooooooow”. And trust me that is not because of her piety but rather her measurements . Then he proceeds to speak to the sister under the pretense that he is giving da’wah. When in reality he has a certain motive. Unfortunately, when the sister is giving him problems he wonders why.

And the sister sees someone Kaafir or otherwise and ‘falls in love’. Rather it should be called falling in lust. And then under the pretense of giving da’wah she proceeds to make him take a Shahadah in order to marry her. But what happens after that? Problems after problems. And again she wonders why.

What is the guidance of Allah and his Messenger in terms of this matter?

Allah has said: “And marry the righteous men and women amongst you”.

This is general. And it shows that the priority is righteousness.

The Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Look for the one with the religion, or may Allah fill your hands with dust”.

This is from the Hadeeth: Women are married for four things. Her wealth, her beauty, her status and her religion. And what was the advice of the Messenger (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam)?

Did he say look for a supermodel with good measurements? Nope. And brother if that is all you are looking for may your hands be filled with dust.

Did he say look for a sister who is rich? Or a sister who has a big family?

No he didn’t . He said to look for the one with the religion. As for the one who doesn’t make the religion his priority then he would be setting himself up for disaster. Why is that?

This is because the pious women have certain characteristics:

1) They fear Allah ta’ala in secret and in the open. Hence they would wear proper Hijaab outside, they would not go outside the house often, they would not flirt with men or enter them into her husband’s house. Most importantly they would not speak about your business but rather that would remain within the house.

2) They would be more willing to give their husband’s his rights. Mainly that of being obedient to him.

3) They would have more knowledge than the one who is not pious and therefore have the ability to teach her husband and children .

4) Because of her good manners she would treat her husband better and try her utmost best to please him in any way she could .

5) When they advise they would advise with gentleness and choose a wise way of advising her husband .

This is why the Messenger of Allah (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Verily this Dunya is a Mataa’ and the best of Mataa’ is a righteous wife” .

I mean on the real my brother. Would you like a sister that when you come home she has a nice home cooked meal for you, is well dressed, wearing the best perfume, treating you like a king as soon as you reach home, using her charms only for you and educating your children upon proper manners?

Or do you want a sister who always complaining and speaking about other people’s business? And then asking questions in the Masjid wasting my precious time and revealing your business to others? Do you want a sister that flirts with other men? And whenever others see her they say: “Akhii your wife is very beautiful”.

I think all sensible brothers would choose the first option.

And this is why the noble Shaikhah Umm Salamah As Salafeeyah was saying that many of those who call themselves Salafi drool over the woman who is pretty and they leave the sisters amongst the students of knowledge.

I call these brothers stupid brothers. Why? Because the novelty and infatuation doesn’t last forever. At the end of the day what remains is the religion and good character. With the religion one can be sure that she would be doing what is obligatory upon her and with good character she would always win the love of her husband even when the infatuation, which all agree is a short stage, goes away.

And Allah knows best.

No, I’m not talking about for our wedding, I’m talking about after the wedding. Here

No, I’m not talking about for our wedding, I’m talking about after the wedding.

Here’s a snapshot of our background:

Abby

Pennsylvania -> San Francisco, CA -> Boston, MA-> ???

Ger

England -> Ireland -> Pennsylvania -> San Francisco, CA -> Boston, MA -> ???

As you can see, we’ve been around! We both met in college in Pennsylvania and moved to San Francisco and Boston together. It was important to us to live in new and different cities that offered cultural enriching experiences. This not only helped us grow but also helped us gain independence.

Although we wouldn’t change our experiences, we miss our family and looking to settle down. Seems simple enough, right? Not so fast. How in the world are we going to decide where we are going to settle when each of us are from a different country? Perhaps we never can?

Here are the options that are the table right now.

Option #1

Pittsburgh, PA

via Flickr {source}

Only about 1 1/2 hours from my hometown, it would be very close to my family. The cost of living is much lower than what we are used to and we are closer to most of our friends. However, this would be farther from Ger’s family and more of a challenge for him to fly home.

Option #2

Dublin, Ireland

via Discover Ireland {source}

In Dublin, Ger would be close to his family and finally back home after 7 years. We could travel easily through Europe which would open up a lot of great experiences. To state the obvious, I would be that much farther from my family and would have to adapt to an entire different lifestyle.

Option #3

Boston, Massachusetts

via Flickr {source}

As you know, this is where we currently live. Boston is a great middle ground. It has a lot of history and soul. We love that is it so close to a lot of great cities. The downsides still reside with its high cost of living and lack of both of our families.

We have no idea what we are going to do. We both want to eventually move back “home” but don’t know how to do that.

Do we live in each of our own hometowns for a few years and never feel completely settled because we are constantly moving or do we decide on one place and feel settled but have one of use miss out on having our family close. Going into a marriage it’s definitely something we want to sort out and make sure we are on the same page. It is definitely one challenge of being a “internationally-mixed” couple!

For those of you that are in the same situation, how are you deciding where you are going to live after you get married?

God chooses the exact times and places necessary to meet our needs. When we encounter hardships and difficulties, we should just consider them as great opportunities to grow in faith. As God showed the Israelites His power and readiness to meet their needs. We should look on the bright side of life. And not doubt Gods power to always take care of our needs as well. .And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna ; for they wist [knew] not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat. Exodus 16:15…Sometimes as we struggle through life’s up and downs it seems that all this is easy to say but hard to do. But I firmly believe that God, if we truly trust in Him will take care of all our needs. Sometimes it may not be what we expect. But we must remember our way and God’s way is not always the same.

A recent Huffington Post article reveals a churning in the waters of America, a possible Wingnut Revolution in the making as super rich citizens are irate at the new political situation. Doomsday scenarios explained as to who and how the takeover is spelled out, as what is going on in Washington is not the answer. Huffington Post did not receive the memo, put out world wide April 11th 2008; it’s not the Wingnut Revolution, it’s the Dumb Information Nation.
This time, individuals from all parties will unite in the fight against stupidity and greed, the fight to rid the world of hatred and incompetence; it’s not a one sided bashing whether Republican, Democrat, or Independent. The simple thought process that maybe not benefiting me as an individual, it will benefit the masses that stand before and around me.
We do not have to agree on everything out there, but we do have to live together, and no matter who was behind the collapse of this nation, we are all in it together, win or lose (I for one am in it to win it, no matter who I call my Commander-in-Chief, because after all, if I win it, I win it). The recession is not discriminating while washing over the lower and middle class, it chooses no sides. I am not going to lose sleep or divert focus because the gentlemen down the street believes that all criminals regardless of the offense should die of natural causes; there is bigger and more dire concerns at hand.
Simple yet effective thoughts and ideas will get us through the toughest of times, the KISS method if you will.
Keep It Simple Stupid, because all of you have to agree, sometimes ignorance is bliss
