I was asked to choreograph an amazing closing act to “Kanye West love lock down” Remix for the 2nd Annual Big Art for little Minds Fundraiser.

This was my 2nd year being part of the show, and its truly amazing.

I choose a similar theme to the one that he used for the original Love lock down video.

The theme was African tribal..it was absolutely amazing, the costumes and the fact that each dancer had nail polish and paint that glowed in the dark.

Over 500 people attended the show, so I was pleased that they would all see the magic of 5 amazing dancers doing what they love to do and glowing in the dark.

I just love putting together themed related performances..because you could really get in-depth with each detail and pay attention to the story, costumes and music.

Die mal wieder sehr gelungene Choreo vom Nürnberg-Spiel will ich euch natürlich nicht vorenthalten. Wäre auch wirklich schade drum.

Die beiden Spruchbänder die Bestandteil der Choreo waren sind leider nicht ganz lesbar.

Spruchband 1: “Vieles ändert sich, doch…”

Dazu dann das alte Bayern-Wappen von dem die rot-weißen Strahlen ausgehen und am Zaun die Stadtsilhouette.

Man kann es nicht oft genug sagen, sehr gelungene und kreative Choreografie.

This is a video of my little brother Phillip Ho aka Phatness Pho. He did this as a choreo project for Kinology. He’s definitely come a long way and I’m proud of him. Too bad you can’t see his footwork in the video. Who’s that in the red hat with the porcelain skin?…your’s truly!

I just wanted to post this; the class was one of the most significant moments of the 2 weeks in london… and my life;  id watched this on youtube so much before this day and i honesty will never forget exactly how i felt  in the studio in this class..  just everything about it. The song before the class meant a lot to me, but kyles choreo  just came at the perfect time;  just this wholejourney into finding myself in dance to being in that class,and so close to LA and BELONGING. for so long i felt lost, but now i know exactly who i am and where im going,  just everything i’ve overcome to get to where i am and where i will be… ‘home’, i dont have a ‘hometown’.. i feel like my home is 6000 miles away, all the moving and packing up and changing schools, cities, houses and different faces throughout my life… the memories i have.. and just  being in that class and that choreography is something il holdwith me forever; being there, everything made sense, everything fitted perfectly, no more searching, no more wandering; i belong. dance is who i am, blood. LA,5months…

this is someone that i really have no words for, the way he understood me and had faith in me was unreal, taking classes with him and rehearsing with him literally felt like a dream. His faith, honesty, belief and just how real he is is amazing; i remember him saying ‘dont be inspired by us!! there’s so much inspiration in this room from every single one of you’ .. that meant a lot. There are are 2 things that are most significant about my whole time in London… and my life- when Kyle gave me the token for his class,  and when April chose me for IDC… honestly looking back, both are just a huge blur haha! I remember hearing what they were saying but it’s like in that moment for that 10 seconds, nothing else mattered, nothing in the world mattered, just that recognition from 2 of my heroes, thats all…
Kyle is someone that dances because it’s in their heart;  it felt so good listening to them all speak and tell their stories because up until that point id only ever known them as dancers through my computer screen, the people i call my heroes, my ‘idols’… but now i knew them as people and as friends.  At the end of class, people were asking questions and i heard Kyle answer someone’s question about college or taking dance further or something.. all i remember was his reply..

“when you dance.. and even when you’re sad and you dance and you feel happy.. and you know this is what you wanna do for the rest of your life, then do it”

To hear him say that was amazing, it’s amazing meeting and training with your heroes, but relating to their stories is a completely different feeling.. something that means a lot to me : belonging.

being chose by April and these guys, the people that inspire me to do what i do and who i am was the best thing that’s happened to me… training rehearsing and performing with them was the beginning of everything for me; i cannot thank them enough for being the people they are;  see you guys in 20 weeks!!!!!

Am Samstag im Waldstadion gewesen. Nach dem 1:1 gegen den Klub doppelt soviel Punkte wie der FCBäh! Und eine tolle Choreo in der Westkurve!

Y’a des fois où on découvre des artistes, des tracks à tout hasard. C’est en regardant des vidéo de Mix Hell en live, que j’ai découvert “Cut The Dust” de Choreo. J’ai accroché, j’ai été sur son myspace, j’ai découvert “Turbine“. En regardant dans mon pc, je me suis aperçu que j’avais déjà un edit de Sebastian par Choreo. J’aime la batterie en dessous de la basse saturée, bref, j’ai accroché, je fais partagé les deux tracks en 320kbit.

Soms zie je andere mensen dingen doen die je voor onmogelijk houdt , en dan vraag je jezelf af waarom zei die dingen kunnen en jij niet.

Wel het antwoord is simpel , zij beschikken namelijk over een zekere ’skill’ , aangevuld met veel oefening.

Hjemme igjen etter en bytur hvor jeg og noen venner spiste på restaurant for å feire at vi er ferdige med matte-eksamenen. Det var ikke ekstremt vanskelig, så det var ganske godt for min del!

Vi fikk vite om eksamenen 10 dager før eksamen, og 2 av kveldene var jeg på Streetdance Studio for å filme en koreografi til kl. 2330, og i går redigerte jeg filmen. Så har jeg gjort et show, trent et par ganger i uka, vært i byen osv, osv.

Det er sykt, men jeg liksom bare… gadd ikke å øve så mye… Kanskje 3 dager med en time per dag hos noen venner øvde jeg, men det gikk fortsatt ganske bra i dag!

Men her har jeg en film av hva jeg har holdt med på… I går satt jeg seks timer tror jeg og redigerte en film

Ich komme gerade heim, es ist spät, ich bin enttäuscht über den Ausgang des Spiels und dass wir jetzt mit leeren Händen dastehen. Aber Bilder von der grandiosen Choreo will ich nicht vorenthalten. Wieso verspielen wir in aller Regelmäßigkeit zum Ende der Saison immer alles!? Mir hat es heute am i-Tüpfelchen Leidenschaft gefehlt, an Ideen, spielerischer Klasse etc. Zudem waren individuelle Fehler für mindestens zwei der drei Gegentreffer verantwortlich. Wer das Hinspiel 1:0 gewinnt und im Rückspiel vor eigenem Publikum 1:0 führt, muss den Sack einfach zumachen!!! Egal wie der Gegner auch heisst.

Hey, hey… Litt sent, men jeg kom hjem nå nettopp fra studioet… Jeg og Lisa og Stig filmet meg og Lisa danse dansen til Lisa “Falling Out” på taket… Fet koreografi, fet location og med super-kameraet, kreativiteten og Stig sine film-ferdigheter kommer nok filmen til å bli en smule pheeet

I morgen får vi vite hva vi kommer opp i på skriftlig eksamen. Kommer jeg opp i norsk må jeg ha bokmål og nynorsk; allerede på fredag og mandag. Mandagen – på bursdagen min, altså! :S

I dag var jeg og fire venner i byen, og blant annet på Oslo Zoo Senter. Ikke for å kjøpe fisk, men små insekter… Disse er for å mate klassens edderkopp, som jeg og Lydia har ansvaret for. (Ei venninne). Det er en halvstor tarantella, og spiser insekter… her skal dere få se buret hans (hennes, men han [hun] heter Petter. Lille Petter edderkopp – you see?).

I byen i dag var vi også på McDonald’s, men jeg skulle bare ha en Cafè Cool. Var avhengig før, men nå er det lenge siden sist. Det er vanlig soft-is fra McDonald’s i varm espresso… Ganske godt  I tillegg fikk jeg gratis i dag, for jeg har spart opp så mange klistremerker! (Kaffe-klistremerker fra McDonald’s).

Jeg måtte dra etter dette – og rett til S.A.T.S på Storo hvor jeg trente en time før jeg dro opp på studioet 200 meter unna… Jeg hadde time fra 18 til 1900. Jeg lærte bort Starstruck! igjen. 

Etter treningen hadde vi i Soulstars et kort møte om kommende show og semesteravslutning og det neste semesteret. Jeg og Lisa ble igjen etter treningen, helt til klokken 2300 for å filme Falling Out – Koreografien til Lisa.
Vi brukte den bl.a på UKM!

Stig filmet (www.doap.no), og jeg tror det blir ganske kult resultat. Vi filmet på taket, fra forskjellige vinkler i mørket, med en lyskaster på oss

Gleder meg, og håper jeg ikke kommer opp i matte i morgen.

Jeg bestemte meg å lage en dans til den, og på torsdag underviste jeg med den koreografien. Kjetil spurte om vi kunne filme den, og seff, om han ville de så skulle vi jo det

I filmen ser du Kjetil, Lisa og meg. Koreografien lagde jeg i påskeferien, men slutten lagde jeg sånn ganske fort, rett før UKM!

Revanche geglückt! Mit 1:0 gewann mein HSV am letzten Samstag in einem umkämpften Spiel gegen 1899 Hoffenheim durch das erste Bundesligator von Jonathan Pitroipa. Spitzenreiter, Spitzerreiter – fast, fast! Der HSV hat derzeit einen unglaublichen Lauf und mischt jetzt wieder die Tabellenspitze der Bundesliga auf: Rang 2 punktgleich mit starken Wolfsburgern, die die letzten acht Spiele allesamt gewonnen haben. Am Donnerstag kommt es zu einem erneuten Heimspiel im UEFA-Pokal-Viertelfinale gegen Manchester City – leider ohne Nigel de Jong, der aufgrund seiner Europapokaleinsätze für den HSV gesperrt ist. Schade für ihn. Dafür wird Vincent Kompany unter Umständen (soweit es seine Oberschenkelverletzung zulässt) mit von der Partie sein und auch ManCity Superstar Rubinho.

The mesh came out like a damp candle. The days became shorter, nights shorter still. In all the glooming nights there came the flickering flame of looming PAFs [refer appendix]. The atmosphere is rather taking an agonistic behavior. Freely roaming skulls near canteen arena and about corridors, trying stay in shadows of frozen nights. Every now and then one of them is taken away to the land where none wish to step. It is where the unwary are dragged to work into the ungodly hours of the LAN-free night, breaking their backs over bamboo brackets, tying rope onto those shaky frames destined for their three hours of glory. Glue, papers bearing old news, and posters have something to do with it all, if I remember correctly from the early days of my captivity. Talking about days that comes into life of all the freshmen on the holy land of IIT.

My Journey from 1st to 5th year was rather eventful, five year apart yet looks so overlapping. My first bondage with PAF was at times of ‘Kasturi’ (whom I am pleased to belong) whose scars finally got faded in my fifth and last year on set of ‘If Tomorrow Comes’ by hostel 3, 8, and 11.

If Tomorrow Comes, was a story about a man who finds himself living the same day over and over again. This man from Mumbai was reluctantly doing a job in some campaign advertising company. Everyday he keeps on facing the same problems on his way to office and back to home and he makes no effort to hide his frustration. On awaking the ‘following’ day he discovers that it’s the same eventful day again, and again, and again. First he uses this to his advantage, then comes the realization that he is doomed to spend the rest of eternity in the same place, seeing the same people do the same thing.

Depicting the same thing in theater in single cut was one hell of a task. There were teams of Acting, Script, Choreo, Voice-Overs, Music, Fine Arts, Lights, and the backbone Prod. Definition of successful PAF as i heard in my first year is the skillful coordination among all these departments and large participation of freshies. Fortunately this year we were blessed with both. It was very much enjoyable feeling to watch that set of people; more like a military regime, from 1st to 5th year and some chicas from 11, working at 10pm then the same set at 2 am then again at 5 am and then at 8 am.
The dedication show by kids from both the hostel in prod was commendable. They were so enthusiastic and fresh even at those oddly hours of day. I want to name so many here who worked with me but not writing for the sake of those dearly names which my stupid mind forgot. We worked in deadly night , we worked in scorching Sun, we worked without sleeping for those 3 godly days but never no one gave up. We gave OAT the look which would remain unforgotten in Chronicles of PAF.

Everyone who even once lifted a pliers, bamboo, drilling machine, script, paint brush, mike, guitar, chicas in OAT was a part of this successful production. Thanks a lot people. I hope and wish that we will win too, Can’t think of a better passing out gift then that. Still results do not matter, it was a successful and cherishable time for all of us specially for batch of 2004 from hostel 8.

Appendix: Performing Arts Festival (PAF), is an annual event in IITB of a scale in its own league. It aims at a production of about an hours’ duration that will encompass all performing arts (viz: Acting, Music, Dance, Voice-overs) as well as other aspects like Fine-Arts, Lights, Sounds and Sets among other things. 2 or 3 hostels pool in quite a lot of their strengths to ensure the success of their PAF’s, in what is the culmination as well as the high point of Cultural Activities for the Year.
