This is super cool, a limited edition only of the “Back to the Future” movie soundtrack is now available to order online. This is for the instrumental score only. It won’t have the songs by Huey Lewis and Chuck Berry.

Check it out here:

http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.6315/.f

“Back to the Future” the first one anyways, is one of my favorite films ever. It’s such a classic and a great family film with perfection. Especially the film’s beautiful music score. It has the best scoring of film history.

Título: Regreso al futuro
Título original: Back to the future
País: USA
Estreno en USA: 03/07/1985
Estreno en España: 02/12/1985
Productora: Universal Pictures
Director: Robert Zemeckis
Guión: Bob Gale y Robert Zemeckis
Reparto: Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, Claudia Wells, Thomas F. Wilson, Billy Zane, Sachi Parker

Sinopsis:

8 / 10

For this week’s Classic TV Scene, we return to New York’s Sunshine Cab Company.

You may remember earlier in the year, the Choob featured the all-time best scene from the 1970s/80s sitcom Taxi – Jim’s Driving Test.

However, it had plenty of other memorable scenes and great performances, so here are another couple of great clips.

First, another tour de force from Christopher Lloyd as “reverend” Jim Ignatowski who, having lost his job as a cabbie, has become a door-to-door salesman:

And here is the late, great Andy Kaufman as mechanic Latka Gravas, sharing his views on the importance of friendship:

Much of LA becomes consumed with the buying and selling of features this week as 8000 gather at the American Film Market which kicks off W 11/4 and runs through W 11/11 concurrently with AFI Fest. Ground zero is the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel where 400 distributors are getting ready to rumble. As the distributors are there to sell, the first half of AFM belongs mostly to the buyers. You need a full market badge ($895) for access to the upper floors during this time, but its free to linger to the lobby and lounge by the pool putting together target lists which many do in prep for half badge face time ($345) starting Su 11/8. Day badges $275. To see the market in action check out these videos from Film Specific’s Stacey Parks, UpsideDownTV’s Johnny Neurotic and Variety’s Michael Jones.

Here is the list of IFTA members where you can dig deep for contact information, slate and budgets. You can also pick up free in the Loews lobby the AFM directory in the bumper copies of Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Screen International and The Business of Film.

We’ve been waiting patiently for more than 20 years, and it looks like it’s finally going to pay off. Robert Zemeckis, the creative genius behind The Polar Express and The Back to the Future cartoon confirmed to MTV that the writers of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? are currently working on a sequel! No details on the plot just yet, but rest assured it’ll leave us looking at Jessica Rabbit and thinking, “I’d hit that.” Also babies who smoke cigars are funny.

The showdown between a nurse and a patient. Let the games begin. Implacable rabble-rouser Randle Pat

The showdown between a nurse and a patient. Let the games begin.

Implacable rabble-rouser Randle Patrick McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) is committed to an asylum and inspires his fellow patients to rebel against the authoritarian rule of head nurse Mildred Ratched (Louise Fletcher).

The film has one of the greatest feuds between 2 characters I have ever seen on film. A nurse and a patient doesn’t seem so heavy you say, but after you see this then you will question no more. Nurse Ratched is all about order and discipline. Randle on the other hand represents everything anti-establishment, who is in the nut house pretending to be crazy to escape being in incarcerated. Both feud and show dislike towards one another and its surely something great to see.

The film has a great sense of the human qualities to it. Randle treats these patients as if they are normal old human beings and not some drugged out nut cases that have to follow a same routine everyday. This makes you think and makes you feel about life in a great and wonderful way of who you really are.

There are scenes that are just simply unforgettable much of due to the charisma of the stars portraying these characters. They all seem so real in a creepy kinda weird way. Jack Nicholson gives an amazing performance that is too great to be true and brings all of the energy to the film. Having Louise Flecther playing the quiet but very strict nurse is totally effective as she is a lady that doesn’t talk too loudly and wants everything done her way but when that flip switches, oh god it sure as heck switches. The rest of the cast do very exceptional jobs as many will see great debut films for such stars as: Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, and Brad Dourif.

The mixes with comedy and drama throughout but ultimately is the most effective tragedy of all-time. The on-going feud between Nurse Ratched and Randle are simply one of the greatest feuds on screen of all-time and set the grounds for many more effective feuds in cinema history.

There is nothing bad I can say about this film other than it truly is a wonderful American Classic. All should see if you want a film that will make you laugh, cry, think, and overall be happy about your own life, and not many films nowadays do that.

10/10=Full Price!!!

Thirty-nine-year-old Robert Helphenstine was officer in charge of the tiny Fallowfield Township police department in Washington County when the alleged crimes occurred in March. He was fired in August.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand today announced the arrest of a Second District Patrol Division officer on a rape charge.

According to Normand Officer Brett Casimir admitted to telling a suspect that he would let her go if she “performed a sex act” on the officer in his cruiser.Investigators say the incident occured early this morning in Harvey after Casimir stopped the car the woman was riding in.After finding that the woman had an outstanding warrant, Casimir let the others in the vehicle go, then drove the handcuffed woman around the corner where he told her she would be released if she performed the act, according to Normand.

“There were no other overt threats made at the time,” Normand said. “However, due to the location, her detention, and the presence of an armed police officer there, it was obvious that the victim felt intimidated, and did as she was instructed by the officer.”

Normand says the officer has admitted to the incident that the victim reported this morning shortly after it happened at about 4:00am. The Sheriff says Casimir has been fired. “When these things happen, it’s a dark day,” Normand said. “We have many, many hard-working men and women of this department, that are, myself included, embarrassed by this situation.” According to Normand, Casimir joined the department in September 2007 and had been a patrol officer since December.

AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin police officer is suspended for 15 days for not turning on his patrol car camera during an altercation in which a teen was fatally shot.

Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo says the unpaid suspension began Thursday for Officer Leonardo Quintana. Acvedeo determined the May 11 shooting did not constitute excessive force.

A Travis County grand jury in August declined to indict Quintana over the shooting of the armed suspect, 18-year-old Nathaniel Sanders II.

The suspension was because Quintana violated policy by not turning on the dashboard camera before approaching Sanders.

Police have said Quintana fired at Sanders after the pair struggled over a weapon that the suspect had in his waistband. Sanders had been asleep in a car that police had investigated as being involved in several crimes.

A former Philadelphia police officer charged with dealing drugs and plotting to steal what he believed was a drug stash is negotiating a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.Alhinde Weems, 34, was a 51/2-year veteran who had been a drug dealer before he became an officer and dealt drugs on the force, police said when he was arrested in March.

Weems was arrested at an area hotel as he was about to rob a man he believed to be a drug dealer, but who was a federal undercover agent.

U.S. prosecutors filed an “information” outlining the charges against Weems yesterday, which is often an indication a defendant will plead guilty.

“We’re in negotiation on that issue right now,” said his attorney, Jack J. McMahon Jr.

Weems is being held without bail. His arrest shocked city police, who were already coping with reports that officers had fabricated evidence in other drug investigations. Four veteran officers are under investigation.

Police were also concerned that Weems, who had no criminal record, made it through the department’s screening process.

OAKWOOD — Oakwood Officer John McCalister allegedly punched a man inside a Dayton drug store after the man asked McCalister to exchange money with him, according to Oakwood Public Safety Director Alex Bebris.

The alleged assault took place Oct. 14 in the Rite Aid Pharmacy, 1158 Wilmington Ave., when McCalister and his wife and fellow Oakwood Officer Tiffany McCalister were off-duty and not in uniform, Bebris said Tuesday.

The man told Dayton police he asked John McCalister if they could exchange change so that he could wash his clothes at a nearby laundromat. The victim said McCalister cursed at him before striking him several times.

Trooper Jason Hanrahan had been arrested January 15 after he was observed buying heroin from a Newark man, who has also been indicted. Hanrahan was allegedly in possession of “less than a half ounce” of heroin when he was detained. Although Hanrahan was not charged with a drug trafficking or intent or conspiracy charge, a half ounce of heroin is much, much more than the typical personal dose. Since New Jersey law separates heroin possession offenses by weight, and less than half an ounce is the offense for which small-time possessors are charged, Hanrahan could have been popped with only a personal dose or two. Or he could have been popped with nearly a half ounce. If the former, Hanrahan doesn’t belong in the corrupt cop crowd — he’s just another user who got caught. Either way he is looking at up to five years in prison and a $15,000 fine.

By Carlos Miller
The suburban Chicago cop who was caught on video beating a 15-year-old student for refusing to tuck his shirt last May is being accused of raping a woman while holding a pillow over her face.

He also killed his ex-wife’s new husband last year by shooting him 24 times in front of their children while he was a cop for another suburban police department.

He was suspended for that incident and eventually found work with the Dolton Police Department, where he ended up beating the special needs student who weighed only 140 pounds, breaking his nose and lacerating his face.

A few months later, he allegedly threatened an Indiana woman with a knife. Then later raped her with a pillow over her face on September 14, according to the Chicago Tribune.

It is no wonder why the Dolton Police Department refused to release his name this week when the video of the student beating emerged.

Christopher Lloyd, 38, has been incarcerated in Indiana on a $110,000 bond since last month. He faces 20 years in prison for the rape allegation.

His ex-wife has also filed a wrongful death suit against him and the Robbins Police Department for the killing of her new husband in February 2008.

Chicago police accepted his claims of self-defense even though he drove to the couple’s home while off-duty and got into an argument with Cornell McKinney, before shooting him 24 times.

It is not clear whether he reloaded in that incident, but if he did, it would make it hard to believe he was acting in self-defense.

The suit claims the autopsy contradicts the police investigation. I’m sure it does. The Chicago Police Department should be sued as well.

(S.D.)-Former SD Sheriff’s Deputy Gets 5 Years For Rape

RAPID CITY, South Dakota (AP) – A former Fall River County sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced to five years in prison for rape.

Buckly McColl pleaded guilty to the charge earlier this month.

He was sentenced on Friday.

The 42-year-old McColl faced up to 25 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Court documents say McColl admitted to picking up a woman in his patrol vehicle last November and having sex with her in the sheriff’s office in Edgemont. The documents say McColl also admitted that the woman was incapable of giving consent because she was drunk.

A former St. Louis police officer who admitted stealing cash, planting drugs, charging an innocent man and lying to cover it up was sentenced Friday to a year and a day in federal prison.

Vincent T. Carr, 47, could have faced 37 to 46 months in prison under federal sentencing guidelines, but he was rewarded for cooperating with prosecutors in the case against his former partner in the city’s Crime Suppression Unit, Bobby Lee Garrett, 49.

At Friday’s hearing, Carr apologized to his family, friends and the police department, and said that he was taking “full responsibility” for his actions, wrongdoing and “stupidity.”

Carr and Garrett were indicted in December.

Carr pleaded guilty Feb. 13 to to five felony charges: obstruction of justice and two counts each of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and making false statements.

He admitted that on June 6, 2008, he and Garrett stole cash from a man who admitted possessing a gun and crack cocaine, then planted the drugs, gun and $3,710 of the cash in an another man’s apartment. They released the owner of the crack so he wouldn’t complain about their theft and charged his landlord instead. They then doctored reports and court documents and lied to FBI agents to cover up their crime.

Garrett pleaded guilty Aug. 28 in a deal that will net him 28 months in prison.

Their co-defendant, Leo Liston, was indicted in April and pleaded guilty May 15 to one felony count of misapplication of government funds. He admitted stealing and splitting $8,000 in drug-linked cash from a beauty shop and was sentenced last month to three months in prison. Liston also cooperated with authorities.

On January 12, 2003, Walter Steven Kuntz was arrested by officers from the City of Lebanon, Tennessee Police Department for Driving Under the Influence. He was transported to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office Jail, where, over the next several hours, two correctional officers subjected Kuntz to a series of severe beatings because he would not stop talking in his cell. Approximately eight hours later Kuntz was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and then airlifted to St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Kuntz was declared brain dead and died approximately 24 hours later. His death was ruled a homicide. The FBI field office in Memphis responded to this incident, and, working in conjunction with agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, they identified a pattern of beatings and civil rights violations carried out by second shift correctional officers at the Wilson County Jail occurring over at least a two-year period. The investigation revealed the identities of other officers who were involved in the Kuntz beating and eventually, four correctional officers agreed to plead guilty in exchange for their cooperation and testimony against the more culpable officers.

On July 23, 2004, five Wilson County Jail correctional officers were charged with eight counts of conspiring to violate the civil rights of 13 former inmates of the Wilson County Jail, to include Walter Steven Kuntz. Sergeant Patrick Marlowe and Officer Gary Hale were charged with causing the death of Kuntz by assaulting him in a cell at the jail and then denying him prompt medical attention for his injuries. Hale and Officer Robert Brian Ferrell subsequently pled guilty prior to trial and agreed to cooperate with the government.

On January 26, 2006, after a three-week trial, Marlowe was found guilty on seven of eight counts, including directly causing the death of Kuntz by failing to provide Kuntz with proper medical care. Officer Tommy Shane Conatser was convicted of one count of conspiracy to violate the civil rights of inmates at the Wilson County Jail. On July 7, 2006, Marlowe was sentenced to life in prison. Officer Hale was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment, Officer Conatser was sentenced to almost six years’ imprisonment, Officer Christopher McCathern was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment, Officer Robert Brian Ferrell was sentenced to one year imprisonment, Officer William Westmoreland was sentenced to three years’ probation, and Officer John McKinney and Officer Travis Bradley were sentenced to two years’ probation.

With Halloween coming up, the rush is on to find a decent costume to wear. The rush is also on for watchdog groups to get irate at politically incorrect costumes, like the “illegal alien” costume, which is an orange prison jumpsuit with an alien mask and a fake green card. Those looking for a real illegal-alien costume have to go no further than the South End of New Bedford or the fish houses downtown. … Nothing like a trip down memory lane. IGN.com, a Web site dedicated to video games, movies and music, just finished its countdown of the 100 Greatest Nintendo Games. Good memories clicking through the top 10 and the Web pages look great. For the record, the top three are: No. 3 Super Mario Bros., No 2. The Legend of Zelda, and No. 1 Super Mario Bros. 3. … Three links for your reading enjoyment this Thursday: 1) Environmentally friendly Berlin whorehouse offering discounts for customers who ride bikes, take public transportation or other “go green” ways to get there; 2) Female firefighters in Australia are given new uniforms that become see-through when wet; and 3) What better place to get married than in a strip club? … So in my Madden 10 franchise mode, I’m in the 2012 season with the Pats. After two seasons, two playoff appearances and zero postseason wins, I won the Super Bowl in 2011 against the Falcons in dramatic fashion. Anyway, I thought it was interesting that only a handful of current Pats are still on my roster: Vince Wilfork, Darius Butler, Pat Chung and Jonathan Wilhite on defense. Brady, Moss, Welker, and Logan Makins are the only ones left on offense. I’ve spent first-round picks on cornerback, running back and right tackle and used second-round picks on a free safety, right guard and some receivers preparing for the day when Moss hangs it up. … Speaking of football, how the hell does Titans coach Jeff Fisher keep his job after such embarrassment last weekend? OK, you’re going against Belichick and it’s snowing, but your team is hungry for a win and you come out and get one of the worst beatings in NFL history. I’ve long considered Fisher one of the top coaches in the game, but the time has come for him to move on. … Happy 71st birthday to the very decent Christopher Lloyd. He played the extremely decent Doc Brown in Back to the Future and had other crazy roles in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Adams Family and Star Trek III. I will always remember Lloyd as Reverend Jim on Taxi, one of the most decent TV shows of all time. Remember this clip, which is played over and over again on those shows counting down the funniest TV moments, when he was taking his driver’s test and asking what a yellow light meant? … Community member Yim asked me to wish a happy 44th birthday to Piotr Wiwczarek, lead singer of the Polish death-metal band Vader. As part of the Monsters of Death Tour, Vader will be performing at the Palladium in Worcester, Mass. on Nov. 5. Sorry, the show is sold out, but Vader will be stopping at The White Eagle before the show for some brews if you wanna chat it up with them. … Finally, happy 35th birthday to Swedish model Helen Svedin. Did you know Svedin is married to arguably the most famous Portuguese soccer player of all time, Luis Figo?

The title of this blog entry is a quote from what I hope will someday (if not already) be considered

The title of this blog entry is a quote from what I hope will someday (if not already) be considered a timeless movie, pun intended. For those who just woke up or we’re born before 1950 and after 1990, the movie is “Back to the Future” released in 1985 starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. This and the subsequent two movies in the series are phenomenal, and I advise anyone who hasn’t seen them to do so on your first rainy-day opportunity.

Is it cheesy to think of the Back to the Future series as timeless or just a clever marketing scheme that studio companies haven’t thought of yet to re-release the Blue-ray versions of the movies? I challenge anyone reading this article to find someone who is not fascinated with the potentiality of time travel. Movie studios and TV companies gross millions if not billions by tapping into our infinite interest in the phenomenon. Most recently, Lost, the TV series on CBS (which my wife and I are addicted to) has taken a turn towards time travel in the last two seasons. The options for the storyline are limitless; every variable can become an integral part of the story and can directly or indirectly alter the plot. Fortunately, instead of exploring every variable and exploiting it to its ad revenue maximizing potential, the producers supposedly thought out the end of the storyline three years ago and have been methodically building us up to that series finale in May 2010.

Another big hit in the time-travel genre was “The Time Machine” released multiple times (1960 and 2002). I’ve only seen the original release which sported antiquated special effects and nearly comical make-up for the cast. Again, I highly reccomend people seeing this movie if you haven’t had the opportunity yet. Without spoiling it, the abbreviates premise is as follows: an time-machine inventor travels nearly a million years into the future and discovers two human-like species. One group (Eloi) lives above ground and lives in a near-paradise like setting, but show little interest in anything other than laying around and eating. The more industrious and groteseque (Morlocks) live under ground and facilitate the life the Eloi live, but for a purpose, they feed on the Eloi. The movie’s plot goes on from there and winds down several odd and diluted paths, but the movie as a whole is good and definitely worth a NetFlix delivery.

Nothing revelational in this blog post, just wanted to post out there what’s been on my mind the past few days. I’ve been sick with the stomach flu and had a bad fever early on. I think during my fever one night, I was dreaming about, planning on how to, and actually doing time travel.

1984. Directed by Leonard Nimoy.

The third Star Trek motion picture is a little more fast paced than it’s predecessors and therefore has been the most enjoyable so far. It’s story is fairly lean, taking place immediately after the event’s of The Wrath Of Khan, Captain Kirk and crew steal the Starship Enterprise to return to the Genesis planet to recover Spock’s remains. What they didn’t count on is the Genesis machine’s ability to give life to the lifeless, even if it is unstable.

The Search for Spock is kind of low on secondary characters, which is great, we get to focus on the characters that the series is known for. The villains in this installment are the Klingons whose leader is played by Christopher Lloyd. They are suitably menacing and evil, if a little bit one dimensional. These Klingons give The Search For Spock an almost western feel. We know clearly who the good guys are and who are the bad.

The special effects are really fun, as are the Klingon prosthetic effects. Leonard Nimoy directs the action admirably and clearly understands the characters and their relationships with each other. There’s some moments that don’t work to great on film. The Enterprise’s escape sequence is so slow that it becomes almost laughable, I know that in space things would move at that rate, but for an action picture they could have given that scene a little more excitement. There’s also some questionable moments of character development, such as when Kirk learns his son has been executed by the Klingons. Kirk mourns for about two seconds, and his son isn’t mentioned again until the final moments of the film.

My goal has been to make it through the first four Star Trek pictures, as I understand Part IV is pretty campy. I’m looking forward to it.

Peter Weller The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension! (often shortened to Bucka

Peter Weller

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension!

(often shortened to Buckaroo Banzai) is an American science fiction film that has reached cult film status. It was released in 1984, directed and produced by W. D. Richter, and concerns the efforts of the multi-talented Dr. Buckaroo Banzai (Peter Weller), a physicist, neurosurgeon, Samurai, rock musician, Jet Car driver, and comic book hero, to save the world by defeating a band of inter-dimensional aliens called Red Lectroids from Planet 10. The film is a cross between the action/adventure and science-fiction movie genres, and also includes elements of comedy, satire, and romance. It is also made to feel like one in a series of movies, by the use of ongoing allusions to other characters, adventures and events.

Tagline: Beings from Another Dimension have invaded your world.

“The very oddest good movie in many a full moon,” Buckaroo Banzai combines “humor, imagination, a little oriental mysticism and a passel of sharp performances [into] very chic sci-fi” (Time)! Oscar(r) nominees* Peter Weller and John Lithgow team with Emmy(r) winners Ellen Barkin and Christopher Lloyd for a fiendishly clever, action-packed adventure in an outlandishworld you’ll want to visit again and again! Brilliant brain surgeon Banzai (Weller) just made scientific history. Shifting his Oscillation Overthruster into warp speed, he’s the first man ever to travel to the Eighth Dimension and come back sane! But when his sworn enemy, the demented Dr. Lizardo (Lithgow), devises a plot to steal the Overthruster and bring an evil army of aliens back to destroy Earth, Buckaroo goes cranium to cranium with the madman in an extra-dimensional battle that could result in total annihilation of the universe! *1993: Short Film/Live Action, Partners (Weller); 1983: Supporting Actor, Terms Of Endearment (Lithgow)

Buckaroo Banzai was released on DVD on January 4, 2002. Entertainment Weekly gave the release a “B+” rating and wrote, “Fans will drool over the extras, including some illuminating deleted scenes (of particular note is an alternate opening detailing Buckaroo’s tragic childhood, featuring Jamie Lee Curtis as Banzai’s mother) and director W.D. Richter’s commentary, which reveals some colorful behind-the-scenes battles with studio execs”. IGN gave the DVD their highest rating and was “thrilled by the special edition treatment that this landmark cult film has received at the hands of MGM. The video is great, the sound is great, there are tons of extras … Bottom line, if you’re a Buckaroo fan, this is the home video version you have been waiting for”.
