So my little nephew Christopher is a bit of a dude, and it has been a while since looking at the shots I took down a Portside with him, so in my second viewing I found this little gem to share with everyone. I was reading where a child has so many thoughts in his or her head and that they will say the darndest things because they don’t know how to deal with them. Just whatever pops into their head, they say it. A part of me wishes I had that luxury, but we all know that if that WERE to happen, all hell would break loose and everyone’s feelings would be hurt. And then everyone would need a therapist. Or not.

Anyway…my 7-year old has become…shall we say…scatter-brained (at best) and I have to admit, I am becoming more and more confused by him daily. For example. this morning. Stephanie was trying to explain to Christopher that back when we were young, telephones had cords and so you couldn’t just walk around wherever you wanted while talking on the phone. Instead, you had to sit next to the phone (until they invented those really LONG cords. And then you could at least move around the room!) and converse with whoever was on the other end. At this point, I entered the room. I asked what they were talking about and Stephanie said, “Phones that had cords from when we were young.”

Me: “That’s right, Christopher. Back when we were young, there were no cell phones. We had to sit and talk. We couldn’t move around.”

Christopher: “Was it fun?”

Now…2 things. First off, I have no idea what sparked this conversation. I wasn’t in the room at the time so I don’t really know what they were talking about so maybe I should have just stayed out of it. Secondly…what does that mean, “Was it fun?”

“Was it fun?”

Was WHAT fun? Talking on a phone? Using a phone that had a cord? Not walking while talking on a phone? Sitting and talking on a phone? I have no idea what he was thinking. And so I just looked at him. And he looked back at me, thinking I had an answer. And, unfortunately, I didn’t know what to say. And lately I find that to be the norm. I try to get involved in a conversation and then something random just pops into the conversation. So from now on, whenever I get asked a question that makes absolutely no sense, I am gonna respond in the same way. So from now on, if he asks me a question like this one, it will go like this…

Me: “Yes Christopher, it was fun.”

Christopher: “Why?”

Me: “Because your grandmother likes pickles.”

Well, after about four months, the film is finally finished! Creative Realms had it’s first screening last Friday in front of fellow student film makers and has had positive feedback so far. All that is left is to finish getting the music rights and it is on to the distribution phase…

Over the next year or so I plan to submit to a handful of international short film festivals. Hopefully these can help me to get my name out there, and get some prizes to help pay off my Europe expenses this coming spring. I’ll be sure to keep everybody informed as to what festivals the film will be screening at, and how it does, so check back here and there for updates.

Have you ever noticed how the Democratic/Socialist Party and their Liberal/Progressive buds tend to lean to insult, and noise to counter any dissenters to their rule?

Take for instance of how they reacted to the Tea Party by name calling, from sexual slurs such as “tea baggers” to name calling “racist” and denial of the grassroots movement by referring to them as “Astroturf”. The rule is simple. If you cannot dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull, and bull it is as that is all they have. When the bull does not work, drowned them out with just noise.

There is a reason for all this action by these elitist, they have no facts to counter the true of the dissenters, therefore their only hope is to keep the truth from being heard.

Once again at Copenhagen, we see how their pawns who deep down inside know they are backing a lie as noted by their actions. If they had truth on their side, they would not use noise to quite the facts.

The actions here is what Obama’s Community Organizers are all about. What goes on in a 7-year old mind? This past Thanksgiving, Christopher’s teacher gave him a work assignment. He just recently brought it home. Soooo…what is he thankful for? Well, let’s take a look…shall we?

Richard Christopher Carrington (26 May 1826 – 27 November 1875) was an English amateur astronomer whose 1859 astronomical observations first corroborated the existence of solar flares as well as their electrical influence upon the Earth and its aurorae; and whose 1863 records of sunspot observations demonstrated differential rotation in the Sun.

So I’ve been working on Creative Realms a lot lately after a nice 2 week creative break. I’m waiting for the fine cut to render right now which should take about an hour for a 5 and a half minute film… it could be worse though. So far it is looking great. The original shots of Kayla and Matt are changed up a little. After duplicating the original footage, a threshold filter was applied and then composited over the original to give the image some strong highlights and a semi-cartoon look. Everything in the film that relates to a process is now done in this style, and it is not until the discovery of creativity where the images come into full color. I was able to finish up the voiceover as well to keep it simple but effective. Stay tuned, I’ll be posting a lot more over the next few days in regards to the finished product, and distribution plans!

Krissy is right, I am a boy pack rat. I keep adding, but refuse to let any of them go. This is now going to be a blog about all the boys in my life and hopefully by the end of this, I will have come up with a choice on which one to keep and which ones are out of season. This is like my spring cleaning.

Dave – He is the newest boy, but he is special. I have known him for a couple years. We have been friends since Sophmore year. He is one of the nicest guys I have met in a long time. He is someone that I am looking to DATE and be in a RELATIONSHIP with and I think it’s something we can handle. I see hm everyday, but we don’t smother each other. He likes me, I like him. All this time, even as just a friend, he has NEVER hurt me. I have already met his mother and sister and most immediate family. They love me He is someone I could see dating for Senior year and maybe more. I can see going OUT on dates with him like normal couples do and being n a relationship on facebook and being in a NORMAL HEALTHY relationship for once. It’s something I don’t think I’ve ever really had and I feel like it’s something I need more than anything. Another thing that is really  nice about Dave is that he is kinda old fashioned in some things. He won’t go out unless he pays. He refuses to let me pay for anything. This means I’m not going to have another cheap ass boyfriend who makes me pay for me AND him. I can’t afford to do that. He has a job, he is stable, he is sexy <3, and I know him as a friend too. Maybe it’s true, friends fall in love.

Drew – This is the oldest one. I have known him FOREVER and I feel like he is someone I NEED to let go of, but for some reason I can’t. I hung out with him today and it really made me see how much he uses me. It seems that the only time he calls me and wants to hang out is when he needs a ride somewhere. The last THREE times I have hung out with him I have taken him somewhere. He doesn’t want to be with me and honestly, I feel like I have accepted that now. Seeing who he is and how he acts, I don’t think I want to be with him anymore. He tells me that he is in love with this girl Angie, but then he calls me and wants to make out. I’m not going to lie, it’s nice to have that physical connection too, but I need that emotional connection wayyy more. I need someone who is going to love me and mean it. I need someone who would never hurt my feelings and if they did, they didn’t mean to at all. I honestly don’t even feel like talking about him anymore. I think this is one that we need to pass along.

Christopher – He is someone that no matter what, I know he wants to be in my life. I feel like sometimes he could be the one, but then I know that he has left me twice. He is 2,000 miles away with no intention of coming back. He is someone that loves me,  but he doesn’t know it yet. He isn’t ready to even have a gf yet. He needs to work on himself so much. He needs to get a job and make something of himself. He seems to mess with my emotions. He knows that he means something to be, and like Drew, he takes advantage of that. He knows that I will always be there for him because even though he has been an ass in the past, he has been a good friend (kinda). News Flash : he just texted me saying,” It means I miss you and I love you and you shouldn’t date Dave bc I love you too much to lose you to someone else thats what it means Janelle.” ….. Guess that means he does know he loves. He just said that he has known that he loves me weeks ago. I don’t know what to do because I really do like him a lot, but I feel like he is the one person that I can’t be with. Like I said, he is a million miles away and how can I trust someone who said he loved me so many times, and then has broken my heart…not once but twice. I don’t know if I want to get sucked back into this. If it didn’t work the first two times, why would it work now? I don’t know what to do with him….

Travis – I feel like he knows he is losing me. He knows that he isn’t as big a part of my life as he was and I don’t even think he cares. I don’t follow him around like a puppy like I used to. He isn’t my everything. Yes, he is a very good friend and he means the world to me, but I feel like he is another guy who does nothing but take advantage of me. I don’t want a guy that doesn’t know what he has. I don’t want someone who isn’t going to give it everything. I feel like I really am getting over him. I am over him. He is still an amazing boy.

I don’t know what to do now. I thought that this was going to help me, but in the end, all it did was make me more confused. I feel like I want Dave and he is clearly the best choice out of all these boys, but I mean… why is this so hard for me? I told Christopher thats it’s not fair to me for him to all of a sudden say that he loves me and wants me and expect me to drop everything and everyone in my life. He means a lot to me, but I just don’t know anymore. FUCK. I just don’t see why he couldn’t have told me this like two weeks ago, BEFORE I asked out Dave. This isn’t fair. My logical head wants to say, the old didn’t work for a reason, move on. Out with the old, In with the new. Then my heart has to say, No Janelle, don’t let go because then you are left with all those “whatifs”…
