Well dear readers, the jig is up. Today you will know the truth about me, and that my middle name should really be Random instead of Ann. Up until this point, a person reading my posts could see a sort of progression. I’ve gone over who I am, ( a vampire if you count like I do) pssst! the vampire bit would make more sense if you read Job Application, where I talk about adding up years of experiences and figuring that into my age. I’m like a 169 or something. I’ve covered my philosophy in life about creating something I can call mine and given readers a glimpse of how most of my head is full of lines from movies. And how I shamelessly pilfer them with wreckless abandon. Yesterday I explained where I came up with my blog name, Carr party of five. This is where all logic and reason ends. It was fun while it lasted.

I feel it only fair to let you know what you’ll be getting yourself into. If you like your world orderly, and to make sense, you may want to turn around right HERE. Read no further. Do you describe yourself as organized, make sure your socks always match, and write important dates on your calendar? This blog may not be for you. There are plenty of other blogs out there that are completely logical, and will not make you feel like Sunday morning in church after a wild night of Bingo. My posts will do more twists than Chubby Checkers. Like today. I would love to write about my new obsession, eating based on your blood type. And how…if you tell me your personality, I’d bet my brand new monster jar of Nutella, I could make a good guess what your blood type is. ( I’m working on making this skill translate into mucho deniro. Look for me at a carnival near you) But if I write about that, it will lead me to the fact that the lovely lady that hypnotizes me once a week http://www.dakotahypnosis.net/all-about-us/staff/ gave me the blood type book. And then I’d start telling you all about THAT experience and how it’s confirmed in my mind that we create our own reality….and how I now associate Doritos and chocolate with the smell of vomit. Just kidding.

Which would lead me into a rat’s nest of religion, multiple lives, and the Brazilian Butt Lift. (you didn’t see that last one coming, did ya?) Welcome to the inner sanctum of Lisa Random Carr. Now..tell me a little about yourself, and I will reveal your blood type. (Imagine me saying that in a gypsy accent..it makes it cooler).

Where were you in 1960? I know, I know, most of you were not born yet.

I’m not claiming to be as old as Methuselah, but hey I was there back in the early 1960s.

I watched my Mom & Dad dance back then, because back then they were young and cool. So the kids tried to be like them and imitate stuff they did. Some imitated stuff was good, some not so good. I envied the grown ups drinking coffee during the day and my Dad drinking beer with my uncles later that night in our garage. I used to steal sneaks of coffee as well as beer. Maybe that explains why I still drink coffee and beer today, LOL. Our garage had the first MAN CAVE I ever seen. We lived on 34th & Flora and the garage had the popcorn ceiling with the gold glitter. Popcorn ceilings are tacky now, but back then I loved the glitter and of course later on being a Belly Dancer, anything with Bling, Shimmer & Shine! I still have dreams about being in that garage and watching my Dad drink Miller Beer with Uncle Nathaniel, Jackie, and the rest of the gang.

My family danced! Mom & dad, my aunts and uncles. So when they did the newest dances like the Twist, the Funky Chicken the Jerk, whatever, the kids imitated them. My Aunts Forestine and Ernestine were younger than Mom & Dad, so they brought the newest steps to the family and after the kids learned the “new” dances, we tried to get attention by performing them. So the first dance that I remember performing for attention was the TWIST. Boy, if only the “cool” uncle that had the only video camera could have filmed us back then. You know that all 8 mm and that to be developed and used for only very special occasions, not something as common as the kids trying to dance.

It was so cool when Mom & Dad would call upon you to dance. Not my brothers & sisters, but me – ha, ha. Sometimes they called another kids to dance and brag about said kid and ask the whole family to watch, so when you got your turn to dance the newest dance, you better do your best or next time, they might not ask you. Hmmm, no wonder I wanted to go to dance school and then later on became a belly dancer.

I loved watching Len Goodman dance the Twist on Dancing with the Stars. It was a treat to see Chubby Checker performing after 50 years. Damn, has it been that long? Rock on Len Goodman! Rock on Chubby Checkers! Rock on The TWIST!!!

This week marks the 50th anniversary of the dance move known as the “Twist”. This dance forever changed the way couples danced together, meaning that they stopped dancing while touching…. damn Twisters!!

FROM WIKIPEDIA: The Twist was a dance inspired by rock and roll music. It became the first worldwide dance craze in the early 1960s, enjoying immense popularity among young people and drawing fire from critics who felt it was too provocative. It inspired dances such as the Jerk, the Pony, the Watusi, the Mashed Potato, the Monkey and the Funky Chicken, although none were as popular. The dance was inspired by “The Twist,” B-side of Hank Ballard’s single “Teardrops on your letter” in 1959.

Here is an example of Chubby Checker, singing his signature song, “The Twist” and performing the dance, which he still does today. I guess the dance keeps a body young! So, everybody “do the Twist”!
