We all know Jessica Biel is hot as f@#k, one give up their first born for a few hours with her. I was e-mailed these pictures of her in some little boys underwear I thought I was in for a treat. I was wrong. She’s on the set of some shitty movie shes doing called Powder Blue which, as far as I an tell from these pics, is about a retarded chick who loses her cat. I smell an Oscar.

Jessica Biel played an Iraq War veteran in the 2006 film Home of the Brave, a drama about soldiers struggling to adjust back into society after facing the hardships of war. Her performance was well-received, but the movie was a commercial failure.

Spring has sprung and bromance is in the air.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but is there anything hotter than two men who are such good friends they are often confused as lovers? I think not. Maybe it’s because they exhibit the exact characteristics I look for in my own relationships with men. Think about it, guys in bromances are sweet and understanding, they crave intimacy and inside jokes, they use nicknames and share common interests, and they aren’t afraid of affection (even with other men). It’s the perfect relationship – and no need to search for the
right diamond engagement rings or plan a wedding!

Of course I would never get in the way of a bromance. It’s just not my style. But I would have no problem, say, nestling into a bromance sandwich. Why break up the friendship when we can make it a threesome (or in some cases, a bromance orgy starring me)? Unfortunately it may be some time before I end up in the same room as the Apatow hotties, so for now I’ll just have to settle for the hottest bromance gallery of all time. Ketika saya mendengar bahwa Adam Sandler memproduksi film yang mengisahkan mengenai dua orang normal yang berpura-pura menjadi gay demi mendapatkan harta warisan, saya merasa sedikit kurang nyaman. Maklum, Adam Sandler adalah salah satu komedian favorit saya, tetapi kadangkala humor-humornya kelewat kasar dan ofensif. Saya khawatir bahwa film ini nantinya hanya akan mengolok-olok kaum homo / gay semata.

Chuck Levine dan Larry Valentine adalah sahabat sejak lama di barisan pemadam kebakaran. Sudah bertahun-tahun mereka bersama-sama menyelamatkan nyawa orang dan gedung-gedung dari kebakaran. Suatu hari, sebuah kecelakaan terjadi dan Larry menyelamatkan nyawa Chuck. Larry sendiri mengalami kesulitan finansial, karena setelah istrinya meninggal tiga tahun yang lalu, dananya tetap mengalami ganjalan untuk dipindahkan. Satu-satunya yang bisa membantu mempercepat proses ini adalah dengan menikah.

Bisa ditebak siapa yang diminta Larry untuk menikahinya. Larry yang masih cinta dengan istrinya tentu saja tidak sudi menikahi wanita lain, ia meminta Chuck berkomplot dengannya dan pura-pura menikah. Chuck, merasa berterima kasih, mau tidak mau menuruti Larry. Mereka kira bahwa dengan pura-pura menikah beberapa bulan, segala masalah akan beres, dan mereka bisa kembali pada kehidupan normal masing-masing. Tak mereka sangka, bahkan di negara sebebas Amerika sekalipun, gay masih menjadi isu yang sensitif. Seakan tidak cukup mendapat tudingan miring dari masyarakat, pihak pengadilan pun curiga bahwa keduanya tengah berusaha mencari cara ilegal untuk mengambil dana. Apa yang akan terjadi kemudian?

Ketika usai menonton film ini, saya terkejut menyadari bahwa humor-humor kasar Adam Sandler biasanya absen dalam film ini. Malahan, film ini lebih mengambil pendekatan ke arah drama dengan sedikit bumbu komedi di sana-sini (ketimbang You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, film ini lebih bernuansa 50 First Dates dan Click). Isu mengenai gay yang sebenarnya cukup sensitif pun tidak disindir secara keterlaluan di sini. Kendati ada humor yang menyindir dan menertawakan gay, secara keseluruhan kaum homo disorot secara positif. Kedua karakter utama Chuck dan Larry juga berhasil menghidupkan perannya masing-masing yang begitu berbeda. Chuck adalah si womanizer sejati yang kemudian menyadari dan menemukan cinta sejatinya ketika ia pura-pura menjadi gay, sebuah peran stereotipe – tapi mampu dimaksimalkan – oleh Sandler. Sebaliknya Kevin James yang mencuri perhatian lewat Hitch dulu kali ini lebih mengambil peran serius sebagai Kevin yang adalah sosok ayah yang bertanggung-jawab terhadap kedua anaknya. Berkali-kali adegan keduanya yang tampil bersama mampu menunjukkan secara tersirat bahwa keduanya memang sahabat sejati.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry mungkin bukan sebuah film yang akan bisa diterima oleh semua kalangan. Kalangan gay mungkin akan mengira bahwa film ini menyindir komunitas mereka. Kalangan agama sebaliknya bakalan menyerang film ini sebagai pro-homo. Terlepas dari semua kontroversi itu, kalau anda memiliki pikiran yang terbuka, beri kesempatan film ini untuk menghibur anda selama 2 jam.

Enlightening.

In September, the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee considered legislation that would provide federal benefits to same-sex domestic partners of federal employees. Howard Weizmann, the deputy director of the U.S. Office Of Personnel Management, objected to the bill because it “could lead to fraud and abuse in the programs we administer.” Weizmann claimed that the office was unaware of any interest from federal employees for such benefits. He even evoked a fictional movie plot of two heterosexual New York firefighters who pretend to be a gay couple to suggest such fraud would be a problem in real life:

First of all, to suggest that we are being far-fetched in the sense that these benefits are open to fraud or abuse. It’s not an unrealistic concern. I would suggest even Hollywood has discussed this in a movie with Adam Sandler. In which, I think, ‘Chuck and Larry’ get married, which the subject of the movie, was quite frankly, was insurance fraud, along the lines of what we’re discussing. This is not far fetched and it’s not disingenuous to suggest such.

Yep, he went there. What I want to know is how Weizmann conducted his research in order to determine that same-sex health benefits would be abused at a significantly greater rate than opposite-sex benefits, to the degree it would justify denial of such benefits. “Hey, interns, watch every movie Adam Sandler has made until you find incontrovertible evidence of same-sex partner health benefits fraud!”

Oh, and I like that tidbit about being “unaware of any interest.” Oh, ok Weizmann, so because you and your pals are not interested in non-discrimination in health benefit provision, no one is? I like the way you think. What were the qualifications for your job again? Just idle curiosity.

Fans of Freddie Prinze Jr. will no doubt enjoy Summer Catch, which features Freddie running through sprinklers on a baseball diamond wearing nothing but an orange thong. Freddie plays Ryan, an aspiring pitcher at baseball camp. Ryan grew up in the New England town that hosts the camp, mowing lawns with his landscaping father, so he’s torn between his local friends and his new baseball buddies. Meanwhile, he’s being pursued by a rich and beautiful local girl with the odd name of Tenley (Jessica Biel), whose father doesn’t approve of her cavorting with the lawn boy. Ryan’s an incredibly talented pitcher–everyone agrees, especially his bartending brother who also wanted to play ball but lacked the gift–but he’s haunted by fear of failure and the recent loss of his mother. The strong supporting actors (including Matthew Lillard, Brittany Murphy, Brian Dennehy, Fred Ward, and Bruce Davison) do their best, but the script doesn’t help. –Bret Fetzer

Ain’t they the cutest couple EVER?

OK, this movie is basically a looong version of the trailers we have all seen + some really insensitive gay jokes. Is gay still funny? What about being Jewish, Adam Sandler? Or a fat, fat co-star who’s name I am to lazy to look up? My point being, stereotypes are lame humor and Adam Sandler has beaten this comedic horse into the inner core of the earth. D-

Helt klart bästa veckan på länge, studenter på tisdag och torsdag och examensfest på fredagen. Och bad har det varit, både i fredags och idag, i fredags var det strax under 20 grader och idag hade det kommit upp ett par grader och det känns verkligen att det är sommar.

Gårdagens långpromenad var inte fy skam heller, verkligen härligt att få röra på fläsket och rundan i sig var väldigt fin! Om man råkar bo i närheten av hässleholm och vill gå en liten lagom promenix så rekomenderar jag finjasjöleden.

Idag hade vi gäster, gamla vänner och min käraste mor på lunch. Fika och jordgubar, underbara jordgubbar. Sen var det stranden och efter det så kom vi på grillhumör men eftersom vi inte har någon trädgård så tänkte vi att vi skulle grilla hemma hos mamma. En helt klart bra kompromiss eftersom min kära mor närapå jobbar dygnet runt känns det som, så, vi lånade trädgården och fixade grillat som betalning. Efter en strålande god och väldigt GI vänlig middag så körde vi ett par omgångar kubb (jag vann såklart;).

Nu kollar vi på “I pronounce you Chuck and Larry” och ska snart nanna kudden. Nattnatt.
