Fear, guilt and self-doubt.  Lacking trust in your connection to Spirit.
A rejection-complex, probably brought on by authority issues with a parent.
Be comfortable with authority within yourself and with others.

I’ve noted a pattern in our local government investments.

CIB Conseco Fieldhouse, CIB Lucas Oil Stadium, Carmel Clay Parks Monon Center, Indianapolis Airport Authority Midfield Terminal, Carmel Regional Performing Arts Center and the CIB Convention Center Expansion seem to have the same issues.

They were built with public funds to meet public and private needs.  The bondholders are well secured by public revenue sources and commitments.  The operating revenues are less than what is required.  The users do not want to pay more.  Current political forces are criticizing historical decisions and current operations.  The public thinks that the politicians are incompetent and/or captured by special interests.  The public wants a simple solution that does not include more taxes.

The greatest problem is that these facilities inherently serve BOTH private and public purposes.  The CIB facilities serve customers, but also the nearby local businesses and our collective sense of importance in hosting the undefeated Colts.  The airport serves passengers, but also economic development.   The Monon Center offers an alternative health club, but also provides subsidized recreational programs.  The CRPAC offers ticketed cultural events, but also subsidizes local arts groups and stimulates the hospitality and retail arts industry.

In each case, the public is confused because it is not clear what part of the capital and operating costs are due to private and public uses.  It is not clear what part of the costs are being paid by the users and what is being picked up by the public through current and future taxes.

Political and civic leaders would be well served to clarify these “buckets” of costs, benefits and responsibilities in the future.  It is not easy to do and any well-defined fence will be inherently arbitrary and sub-optimal.  However, the political costs of an ostrich approach are now apparent.  I’m sure that many local leaders decided that this “direct” communications style would be impossible, because well-informed Hoosiers would choose to NOT invest in any ventures where each did not personally receive an ROI.   I point to the overwhelming success of the Wishard Hospital campaign as a counterexample.  I point to the recent consensus that requires schools and other local groups to seek voter approval as a situation of “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander”.

State leaders should review these investments and outline a state review process that meets the public needs.  There is an inherent bias towards overinvestment by civic and political leaders.  Many constituencies benefit greatly in the short-run from major projects.  The operating deficits are often a decade away.  The positive ego benefits of creating 50-300 year monuments is too attractive.

Future capital projects should be required to clearly explain public and private benefits, costs and funding sources.  The projects should protect taxpayers at a level equal to bondholders.  Contingency funds should be included to handle the typical 5 year business cycles.   Even with these constraints, our local leaders will be able to justify investments in viable projects.

I am honoured and pleased to announce that I have been nominated as one of the Community in Bloom (CIB) Ambassadors 2009 by National Parks Board. I received the award from Singapore Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong at the launch of Clean & Green Singapore 2010 on 30th October 2009.

Five other ambassadors, some are my good friends, contributed to community gardening in their very own community garden and activities. The Community in Bloom Ambassador Award is presented to individuals who have contributed through activities and events to foster the love for gardening to people from all walks. Ambassadors are passionate in gardening and go an extra mile to spread the gardening bug and help others to realise their green fingers.  They contribute time, effort and resources regularly and actively in gardening events.

I was extremely nervous to receive my award and I almost walked away without a photoshoot with Prime Minister Lee! Its definitely a proud moment when I saw my parents, who were there, had tears in their eyes.  The Award trophy is made of lead crystal and with words and my name etched inside it. The trophy weighed almost 3 kilograms and many joked that it is “ a heavy responsibility” of the future work for us!

I am very happy that my efforts and contributions during gardening events and in Green Culture Singapore forum have been recognised. Being the youngest Ambassador, I hope to attract more young people to take up gardening hobby, which can be of any scale and can be done anywhere! I would like to express my sincere thanks to teachers of Tanglin Secondary School and my ex-colleague Ai San for their nominations and all my friends who congratulate me on facebook and here in my blog, NParks and CIB for confeering me this prestigious Award, not forgetting my friends and members of Green Culture Singapore, especially my mentor, also CIB Ambassador 2008, Mr Wilson Wong for his guidance and support over the years!

Aspect Medical Systems (NASDAQ: ASPM) rallies over 55% to $11.91 on news that Covidien had agreed to buy the company for $210 million.

Green Mountain Coffee (NASDAQ: GMCR) rallied over 6% today to $75, leading gains among its coffee-vending peers.

BanColombia S.A. (NSYS: CIB) hit a year high of $42.66 on no news but amid a continuing rally in Latin American bank ADRs.

Greenhill (NYSE: GHL) hits a new yearly high of $88.28 as boutique M&A firms continue to benefit from the instability of larger rivals.

The third tone of creation is inspiring you to find the the third point beyond polarity. It’s a good day to trust yourself and give it all you got!

Trust that.

I have been a customer with CIB for almost 3 years now; and lately their QOS took a serious dive.

I have been trying to withdraw cash with my Debit card for the past couple of days and i alos tried using it at retail outlets and it has been a total nightmare.

I have called their support centre and they told me that it I have to wait for a couple of day’s as their ATM network is down. And ,in good faith, i waited. Then i tried using my card again but to no avail. The damn thing still won’t work. Then i was told to wait for another day. And guess waht? ya u got it right nothing changed. The problem is that i was trying to buy something from the same store every time and every time my card doesn’t work. I looked like a total looser and they probably thought i stole the damn card.

Anyway, this time i called their customer support for the 4th time but now i was all chareged up. This time i really stuck it to the CS agent and his manager. I was really disappointed and frustrated because i couldn’t even do the basic banking, i couldn’t withdraw my money. It was like they took my money and they were saying no we won’t give it back

My wife and I are set to take possession of of new house on August 27th. Over the past couple days I have been going through my collection and weeding out extras, doubles, and stuff I am no longer interested in. Today I took a grocery bag full of TG-16 stuff down to Re-Play Games and made a straight trade for this:

Oh baby. With this must covetted aquisition I am only one CIB game away from a complete Dragon Warrior set (1-4 and 7) and only 5 away from a complete Dragon Warrior / Quest set. I am still missing the boxes for the first 4 Famicom games, and I am missing a CIB Dragon Warrior 2 for the NES. Re-Play has a minty fresh Dragon Warrior 2 CIB sitting in their display case, and I imagine by the end of the month I will have dug out a 100 dollars more worth of stuff that I can part with. The Famicom games can be had for practically nothing CIB ($15-25 a piece, probably less if I avoid Ebay).

I just had to post this one because I am so psyched about it. i will be starting up me series of posts about tearing down my game room and setting it up again when I move this coming week, so stay tuned for that. If you are bored this weekend and looking for something to play I highly recommend Valkyrie Profile:Plume of the Covenant for Nintendo DS. I have logged a couple hours onto it over the past week or two and I am consistantly impressed with its story and battle mechanics, so I would go and grab that if you are looking for an amazing tactical / strategy RPG.
