That’s what they call hitchhiking in this country. I guess it makes a little more sense in Spanish—hacer botella—well, grammatically at least.

I think the term originates from back when people used to have bottles in their cars for hitchhikers to put tips in. Haciendo or cogiendo botella in Cuba is a legitimate, government sponsored mode of transportation, because there is generally a shortage of transportation in this country, and extra space not being used in cars seems like a good thing to take advantage of. Although many people just stand on the side of the road holding out their hands or some small bills (usually no more than $1), outside of every major city there is an “amarillo” stand, where guys in yellow outfits run out into the middle of the highway and hold out cardboard signs that say PARE (stop), and shuffle people into cars/trucks/buses based on destination. I say it is government sponsored because government owned vehicles are required by law to stop and take travelers free of charge if they have the space (this does not always happen, bribes happen for line cutting and things like that).

Anyways, the reason I’m saying all this stuff about traveling in bottle is that I did it this weekend with two friends, we hitchhiked Cuban style all the way from Havana to the beautiful cities of Santa Clara and Cienfuegos in the center of the island and back—about 600 kilometers total, all for less than $2 each (it could have been less, too, but we were generous).

This is what happened:

Asked people how to get to an Amarillo stop in Havana. Got there, bumbled around a little stupidly (our first time!). Waited in the hot hot sun, I thought about how I should have packed my spf65 sunscreen instead of the 15.

Finally, after an hour or two of tired, impatient waiting (we’d been trying to get out of Havana for about 4 hours now) we hopped onto a bus that was going in the general direction we wanted to go. We got dropped off under a bridge about half an hour later, still closer to Havana than anything else. Waited. The good thing, though, was that there were a lot of Cubans with us in the same position, and though they weren’t ecstatic about all the cars driving past without stopping they didn’t seem too perturbed or antsy about the situation. I start to climb up the bridge to pass the time, and then lo and behold, just as I climb down, a truck stops, and the Cuban friend we made while waiting is waving frantically at us to get on. I climb on, or rather, I step on the wheel and then some men who are already up pull me over the side of the truck (it was pretty tall, and there were no foot holds), and then watch as my friend who is halfway up gets thrown off as the truck starts to drive away. Luckily, everyone starts to scream “Espérate!” so the truck stops again and then he gets on.

Our first camioneta! This is an open backed truck, you know, the old kind that normally carries boxes of things to sell. Ours had apparently been transporting large amounts of papaya before the humans got on, because the floor was covered in slippery black seeds and red pulp. Anyways, even though we couldn’t sit, my friend had almost died, I was getting severely sun/wind burned, and the truck looked like it was one pothole away from falling into pieces (not to mention a few oxygen particles away from crumbling), we felt like the kings of the world, because there we were, cruising down the national highway with all these Cubans on this tall truck, the wind blowing our hair in this majestic way, definitively leaving Havana for real, finally. I had seen something like this in “Guantanamera,” a Cuban movie, and thought it was pretty novel, and now there I was, doing it myself. I felt pretty cool.

Got dropped off at Jaguey, had dinner. In Jaguey there were tons of Chinese people (from China, a pretty rare sight in Cuba based on all the stares I get in the streets) for some reason (we walked into a restaurant and literally everyone inside was Chinese, and I burst out laughing then scuttled away) and I awkwardly avoided them. For some reason, my gutsiness turns off whenever I’m faced with large groups of Asians. I need to work on that.

Went to the side of the highway to try to get to Cienfuegos. By that time, it was dark, and we were a little worried. Luckily, however, everyone was stopping (this didn’t happen the other time) which was a good sign, even though no one wanted to go to Cienfuegos. Finally, we hopped onto a truck going to Santa Clara, which is a big city close to Cienfuegos that we considered going to, but didn’t seem as cool.

The second camioneta ride was one of the best parts of the entire trip. It was pitch black by the time we got on, and the Cuban national highway doesn’t have lights on it, so it was really really black. I used my backpack as a pillow and leaned back (no papaya gunk this time, just a lot of dirt). The sky was beautiful, llenísima de estrellas, with a little bright sliver of moon. I had never seen so many stars in my life. There were also some navy officers on the truck, and their outfits were billowing romantically in the wind.

Santa Clara: saw the Che museum and mausoleum. Rode in our first peso-horse carriage, and thought it was novel, but the next day we took two more. Like other things that seem novel, it was just one of those things about transportation that are pretty normal in Cuba.

Went to Cienfuegos. Indulged in having money and dished out $5 each for a taxi over there, but it was worth it, I think, because we got there in probably 1/5 of the time it would have taken. Also, in the United States, sometimes I dish out $5 for Boloco burritos.

Cienfuegos: extremely clean and orderly and pretty and nice. Felt not like Cuba, but somewhere else in Latin America, except for things were extraordinarily cheap. We got an illegal casa particular for $20 for the three of us, which was a great deal, especially because usually they make 3 people get two rooms. We did have to sleep 3 on a bed, however, which was not so nice. Luckily, went to a club that night and didn’t sleep too much. The club felt extremely un-Cuban as well, filled with people who looked like they had money, and no one was trying to hustle us. The best part of Cienfuegos was when we climbed up to this mirador which was a beautiful old crumbling mansion with a really tall tower and you could see the entire city and bay and it was so beautiful it felt like the entire trip was worth it just for being able to run around up there. Also there was a time when we climbed to the roof of our casa at night and sat up there talking, which was nice too.

Bottled our way back. Same old camioneta and Amarillo shit, even stopped in Jaguey for lunch again (ate at the same place, it was the only one with food), saw and avoided some Asians, got back to Havana, tanned, dirty, bruised, but alive and happy, and feeling pretty happy about ourselves.

Kuba rengeteg turisztikai lehetőséget rejt magában, ám politikai berendezkedése miatt nem tudja ezeket felszínre hozni.

Gyönyörű, tiszta, fehér homokos, korallzátonyokkal tűzdelt tengerpartja mágnesként vonzza a turistákat. Trópusi éghajlata az év bármely szakában kellemes hőmérsékletet biztosít. A tengervíz tehát ennek megfelelően mindig 24-29°C körül mozog. A kubai nyár májustól októberig tart, ám a téltől sem kell tartanunk, hiszen ekkor az átlaghőmérséklet 26-28°C.

Az ide látogatók Havanna óvárosa prezentálja számunkra leginkább a kubai élet mibenlétét. Ám, aki az ízig-vérig nyaralás mellett teszi le voksát, annak a legmegfelelőbb választás Varadero városa. Itt ugyanis minden a nyaralásról szól. Sorra épülnek a szebbnél szebb és modernebb tengerparti hotelmonstrumok. A parton való pihegés mellett, aktív tevékenységek sora is rendelkezésre áll. A víz kiváló minősége búvárkodásra ösztönözheti a szépre érzékeny embereket. Persze más egyéb sportokat is lehet űzni, csupán a képzelt szabhat némi határt.

Noha egy kubai kiruccanás több százezer forintba kerül, az itt fellelhető és szerezhető élmények és emlékek minden pénzt megérnek. És ha már áldoztunk rá, akkor mindenképpen engedjük magunkat elcsábítani, egy mojitora, Cuba librére, szivarra és bármelyik kubai táncra. Ekkor érezhetjük ugyanis e csodálatos ország tényleges varázsát.

Un monologo multimediale scritto, diretto e interpretato da Alessandra Magrini che racconta l’esplosione di una divisa da cui origina un simulacro tragicomico che segue un sentiero di rievocazioni estemporanee. Lady Oscar, pinocchio, la costituzione, il Cie di Ponte Galeria, gli sbarchi a Lampedusa, sgorgano da una mente fuor di senno, proprio come accade proprio come accadde a molti giovani soldati di ritorno dal Vietnam negli anni 60 che non hanno retto il peso dell’orrore.
Madama CIE non torna da così lontano, lei vive ed opera nell’Italia dei nostri giorni, quella degli operai arrampicati in cima alle fabbriche, delle aggressioni razziste, delle escort, delle ronde, dei precari senza un euro, dei viaggi disperati degli immigrati clandestini. A calcare le scene è un personaggio costruito dalla fantasia dell’autrice, ma i contenuti della narrazione sono frutto di una documentazione effettuata su reportage giornalistici, contatti con sindacalisti, volontari CIE, dossier e siti internet, fino ad interviste effettuate dalla stessa autrice ad immigrati clandestini.

Los Elefantes de Cienfuegos pisarán el terreno en la 49 Serie Nacional Béisbol con el convencimiento de que  retendrán en sus vitrinas unos de los trofeos reservados para los eternos propietarios del sótano invernal cubano.

Atados a la condena de los papeles secundarios en el principal drama deportivo antillano, los paquidermos de la Perla del Sur vuelven a la aventura atlética como uno de los dos equipos de la isla que aún conservan un símbolo nacido durante la temporada de 1949-50 en la pelota profesional.

Conocidos en una fase inicial como Camaroneros, los sureños del centro de la Mayor de las Antillas apartaron el recuerdo de la actividad pesquera desarrollada en esa región, para retomar una leyenda esculpida bajo el lema que no importaba tanto la lentitud, si al final del camino el resultado era aplastante.

La contradicción se repite en este club a la hora de buscar la coherencia visual, porque el bautizo de los Elefantes no guarda relación con la ostra que enarbolan como blasón en sus atuendos de combates.

Como sus antecesores, los cienfuegueros del presente visten de verde, a pesar de que la crisis económica de los años noventa del pasado siglo los obligó a usar chamarretas carmelitas, negras y amarillas.

Para su pedestal de la inmortalidad los prosélitos sureños erigieron un lugar privilegiado para el jonronero Pedro José Rodríguez, ganador en 1974 del premio de Novato del Año con los Azucareros. 

Sus potentes muñecas destrozaron el honor de un largo listado de lanzadores que siempre temían un desenlace cruel ante la presencia del antesalista Cheíto Rodríguez en el cajón de bateo.

Junto a él escalaron los peldaños de la celebridad, Isidro Pérez, Antonio Muñoz, Sixto Hernández, Héctor Olivera, Rolando Macías, Roberto Almarales, Remberto Rosell y Adiel Palma.

En la actualidad, la manada cienfueguera vive de las esperanzas despertadas por los jovencitos José Dariel Abreu y Noelvis Entenza; y los consagrados Osvaldo Arias y Norberto González.

Desde su debut en 1997, Cienfuegos ha sido capitaneado por  los timoneles Francisco Cantero, Antonio Muñoz,  Pedro J. Rodríguez, Narciso Ferrer,  Dessy Lomba e Iday Abreu.

La historia de su cuartel general,  el parque  Cinco de septiembre, comenzó el nueve de enero de 1977, cuando fue inaugurado, con la presencia de Osvaldo Dórticos Torrado, expresidente de la República de Cuba.

Según el sitio www.beisbolcubano.cu, la apertura estuvo a cargo de los equipos Citricultores y Azucareros con una capacidad total de 15 600 seguidores.

Hace relativamente poco, en otro post, hacíamos referencia a las novelas de Vázquez Figueroa, el canario aventurero de voz seductora y prolífico escritor, sobre Cienfuegos, el cabrero de la Isla de la Gomera, pelirrojo y atractivo, que pese a su incultura pero extraordinaria audacia, nos lleva a lo largo de 7 volúmenes de aventura en aventura por el Nuevo Mundo, y que comienza con Cienfuegos embarcado por error en una de las naves en que Cristóbal Colón se dirigía a la conquista de América; siempre me preguntaba y lo comentaba con Carla, exwife y copy, qué actor, caso de llevarse al cine, la protagonizaría; y a pesar de ser creativos, a los que se presupone algo de imaginación, nunca dábamos con el perfecto: nuestro modelo imaginario no podía trasladarse a la realidad, y por ello damos gracias a los libros…… y viene al caso que de piedra me he quedado, cuando me he enterado, que el personaje Porfirio Rubirosa, sobre quien escribió un magnífico libro Jaime Royo Villanova, titulado El Último Playboy, va a ser interpretado en una próxima adaptación al cine por Antonio Banderas (lean el libro y comprenderán), y es que muchas veces es mejor quedarnos con los personajes de nuestros sueños, imaginarlos, y por favor, no verlos.

Y eso que Antonio Banderas me cae simpático.

La hermosa cubana Malluna ha regresado a contra-atacar con toda su belleza, despues de abandonar el celebre y ahora clasico y añorado personaje de Caridad Cienfuegos, en una telenovela mexicana (¡bleegh!) donde puede mostrar su envidiable fisico, como en esta escena, en donde trata de seducir a un incauto (maricon, diria yo, pues si a mi una mujer asi se me pone de modo, no cruzaria ni tres palabras conmigo cuando ya la tuviera boca abajo sobre el escritorio y penetrandola como un cerdo en celo). Lo mas interesante del asunto, es  cuando Malillany se agacha y nos deslumbra con tanto esplendor de carne…¡Oh my Dog!

¡Gracias, señorita Malillany, todos sus fans en Mexico y el mundo se lo agradecemos!

Here’s my final two instalments to my Cuban vacation.

On our way to Playa del Este, we decided to drive into Cienfuegos to check it out.  Cienfuegos, like Singapore, was founded in 1819.  It is a small maritime city with somewhat more modern architecture as compared to Havana and Trinidad.  We had lunch by the sea and continued our drive towards Playa del Este.

Playa del Este is like a 20 minute drive east of Havana.  It consists of a few beaches.  Santa Maria beach, Bucuranao and Playa Guanabo.  It is where people from Havana go to for a short break.  There are a few resorts there and many casa particulares of course.  Now don’t expect a Banyan Tree or Four Seasons there.  The resorts are very laid back and offer the basics of a hotel room and that’s about it.  No room service or cable TV etc.

It had the most amazing beach!  I know Maldives and Mauritius boast like the world’s clearest of sea water.  But Cuba is just as clear!  And it is calmer than the former two.  There was only occasional gentle waves so it made swimming in the clear blue sea a very inviting thought.  But if you’d like to surf, then I’m sorry…

It was a real treat to us after being on the road for so long.  We settled into a 2 storey bungalow and went for dinner.  The next day, we spent like the whole day on the beach skipping lunch and just soaked up the sun.  BLISS!  In the evening, we had cocktails by the beach and watched the sun go down.  :-)

…mientras pedían más sacrificios al pueblo cubano. Estos son los “hombres nuevos” de Fidel y del Che Guevara. Estos son los abnegados revolucionarios cuya virtud es llevar un Rolex colgado de la muñeca y viven todos los lujos y los excesos que le ha otorgado la “revolución proletaria”. Estos son los segudiores de Marx y de Lenin. Proclaman “períodos especiales” y mientras el pueblo pasa todo tipo de represión y hambre ellos se dan la dulce vida en fincas ganadas por chivatería, corrupción, asesinato, maldad y degeneración. Ahora Lague y Roque están en desgracia. Cayeron ante los brazos de la revolución que sigue avanzando hasta dejar a Cuba en la época de los Taínos.

A los de allá y a los de acá les aplica la frase de René Ariza: “Los cubanos tenemos que cuidarnos de los Castro que llevamos dentro”.

Uno de los mejores programas de Televisa, es, sin duda El Notifiero, conducido por el maese Brozo, uno de los mas grandes tiraneteros de Mexico. En su programa se dedica a tirar mierda a los que se lo merecen, sobre todo a politicos mamilas de esos que abundan en nuestro pais.  Su critica acida parece imposible que pueda transmitirse en la corrupta corporacion de Telaenvicia, pues esta siempre ha estado chupadole las bolas al gobierno, y, por supuesto, sacando grandes ganancias haciendo cada vez mas bruto y gobernable a la masa, con sus mierdosos y pendejisimos  programas.

Pero, en El Notifiero hay algo que brilla por luz, propia, algo tan hermoso y cautivador que distrae la atencion de los temas que se tratan en su seccion.

Claro, nos referimos a la reportera mas linda y sexy de la TV, la hermosa ¡¡¡Caridad Cienfuegos!!! Una morena beldad nacida en Cuba, que, con su entalladisimo traje sastre, de un llamativo color rojo, que nos muestra su curvilinea figura y un bellisimo y tentador par de piernas, sale a la calle para confrontar a los transeuntes  por medio de sus picaras preguntas.

Malillany Marin, que es el verdadero nombre de nuestra amada reportera, ha creado un personaje clasico cuya mayor virtud (aparte de su obvia belleza) es su guapachoso caracter caribeño, propia de la gente de “tierra caliente” como las golosas cubanas, que son mundialmente famosas por ser adictas al sexo  a la buena vida.

Caridad, como ya habia dicho antes, roba camara a todos los demas colaboradores y en poco tiempo, se convirtio en una de las mujeres mas admiradas de la pantalla chica. Y, siendo sincero, ¿a quien no le gustaria tener como compañera de trabajo a una hermosa, alegre y cachonda morenaza, enfundada en ese minusculo trajecito de ejecutiva, tan embarrado al cuerpo que mas bien parece que se lo pintaron encima, y que nos muestra en todo su esplendor el delicioso contorno de sus apetecibles carnes, sobre todo, su trasero monumental, continuado por un torneado y terso par de muslos, que invitan a ser acariciados y besados, haciendo camino hasta llegar a su centro de placer? Diganme ¿a quien no le gustaria?

Pero, como nada es para siempre, nuestro estimado Lic. Brozo nos ha dado la mala noticia de que Caridad se le va del programa, en pro de una mejor oferta de trabajo (con muchos billetes de por medio).  Aun a su pesar, no le pudo negar a Malinally la carta de retiro y anuncio que se lanzara la convocatoria para encontrar a una nueva reportera que llene el hueco (ummm… hueco…)que dejara Cienfuegos

Claro, no se buscara una simple copia de Caridad Cienfuegos, pues, en propias palabras del buen Brozo, Caridad Cienfuegos solo ha habido una y solo una. Lo que buscan en una joven con talento que cree su propio personaje y estilo.

Bueno, no nos queda mas que decirle adios a nuestra querida reportera y, para recordarla, mirar estas capturas (cortesia de Famosas-Full) en la que podemos admirar en todo su esplendor la belleza de la reportera, mostrandonos diversas posiciones al dormir.

Adios, Caridad, aqui, nosotros, los tiranetas, siempre te recordaremos y tendremos en mente a la hora de hacernos pajas… la neta!!!

O, mas bien dicho…”la veldà… ¡veldà!”

Cursé mis estudios primarios en una escuelita que quedaba cerquita de la casa de mi infancia. Guerrillero Heroico, lleva el nombre por Ernesto Guevara, y presumía de ser unas de las mejores por aquel entonces. El director de aquella escuela, Pablo Galván Vigo, era un señor respetado por todos, y muy temido por los alumnos, lo recuedo bien, su cabeza descubierta por la calvicie, sus pequeños espejuelos y esa mirada escudriñante que te hacía sentir miserable si te habías portado mal ese día.

Un día todo esa imagen de director honorable cambió, un compañero de aula me estaba mortificando, con nombretes y burlas, era muy insistente, se me agotó la paciencia y terminamos peleandonos, como es de saber, enseguida terminamos en la dirección. El director no se encontraba, pero nos sentaron en unos butacones y nos vigiló una instructora hasta que finalmente llegó. Nos miró seriamente y me pidió que saliera, eso aumentó mas mi expectativa, ¿que le estaría haciendo a mi compañero? Sólo sé que cuando salió, no tenía buena pinta: rojo como un tomate, temblaba y se veía muy asustado y antes de que pudiera preguntarle algo, me llamaron… era mi turno. Cuando entré, el director se veía bastante malhumorado y su reloj que habitualmente estaba en su mano derecha, yacía sobre la mesa. Se acercó hacia mi, y me empezó a regañar con palabras amenazantes, mientras lo hacía más se acaloraba, hasta que me agarró por los hombros y empezó a sacudirme contra un librero que estaba a mis espaldas. Horrible, seguro que no me dañó mucho físicamente, pero ese recuerdo nunca se me borró de la mente.

Años mas tarde cuando estaba en el preuniversitario, un compañero 1 año mayor que yo me contó que el también había asistido a mi escuela primaria, pero que se cambió porque tuvo problemas con el director, le pregunté que había sido y me contó. Resulta ser que el estuvo la misma situación que yo, pero que se lo contó a su madre en cuanto llegó de la escuela, la madre se encabronó y le dijo que si lo volvía a hacer que le respondiera de la misma manera. La próxima vez que Hanoi fue a la direccion, a Garbanzo no le dió tiempo terminar de quitarse el reloj, porque el niño fue más rápido, cogió un busto de Martí en miniatura de alumino macizo y se lo tiró por el pecho. Al otro día fue la madre y le hizo un traslado de escuela.

Lo más increíble de todo esto es que el sádico director ha llegado a ser Diputado Provincial de la Asamblea Nacional y no sólo eso, ha viajado en misiones internacionalistas como ejemplo de educador. Es desconcertante tal injusticia, el tipo todavía sigue ejerciendo de director en la escuela. Cuantos niños más habrán sido maltratados? Cuantos faltarán?

La semana pasada tuve un examen en la universidad de la asignatura “Filosofía y Sociedad”, que trabajo me costó aprenderme esa arenga, primeramente porque como soy cristiano, no me siento muy cómodo leyendo los pensamientos de unos viejos que se encargaron de negar la existencia de Dios.

Mira que decir que el materialismo vino para salvarnos de la ingorancia porque pensábamos que todo era obra de un ser divino.

Materialismo metafísico contemplativo – Grrr… sin sentido.

Pero bueno gracias a Dios que pude, acordarme de todo

Ricevo e pubblico questa iniziativa che si terrà oggi a Campi Bisenzio:

Nabruka Mimuni si è impiccata nel Centro di Identificazione ed Espulsione (CIE) di Ponte Galeria (Roma). Nabruka aveva 49 anni, un marito, un figlio e viveva in Italia dal 1991. Il giorno dopo la sua morte sarebbe stata rimpatriata nel suo paese d’origine, la Tunisia. Era stata fermata il 24 Aprile e rinchiusa in un lager di stato chiamato CIE perchè sprovvista del permesso di soggiorno. I CIE non sono altro che i “vecchi” CPT (Centri di Permanenza Temporanea) ossia delle carceri-lager in cui gli immigrati possono essere rinchiusi fino a 6 mesi, in attesa dell’espulsione, senza aver commesso alcun crimine e senza poter usufruire del diritto alla difesa. La mattina stessa in cui le compagne di cella trovavano Nabruka impiccata in bagno, il ministro degli Interni Maroni si vantava degli oltre 200 migranti deportati direttamente in Libia senza neanche passare dal territorio italiano. Si vantava in pratica di “esternalizzare” la tortura visto che i migranti hanno più volte raccontato di stupri, torture, sevizie subite nelle carceri libiche. Contemporaneamente il partito di Maroni, la Lega Nord, in pieno delirio razziale, proponeva posti riservati ai milanesi sulle metropolitane. Sempre nelle stesse ore il governo si apprestava ad introdurre il reato di clandestinità e a portare da due a sei mesi il tempo di reclusione nei CIE. Già da alcuni mesi il Governo ha individuato in Campi Bisenzio, nella zona dell’Indicatore, una delle possibili aree in cui far sorgere un nuovo CIE/CPT. Ovviamente molti esponenti di centro-destra, in piena campagna elettorale e aiutati dal terrorismo mediatico di molti giornali e televisioni, si sono immediatamente detti favorevoli, pronti a cavalcare e fomentare “paure” ed “emergenze” per costruire brillanti carriere elettorali e solide politiche repressive. Dovranno fare i conti però con tutta quella parte della popolazione che non è disposta a criminalizzare una persona solo perchè immigrata e priva di un pezzo di carta. Dovranno fare i conti con chi non è disposto a stare a guardare le ronde, il razzismo di stato, i nuovi lager, le leggi razziali,….. Dovranno fare i conti con quei settori sociali che non sono disposti ad accettare una “guerra tra poveri” che dovrebbe coprire le responsabilità di chi la crisi economica che stiamo vivendo prima l’ha causata e adesso ci specula sopra. Per questi, e per tanti altri motivi, ci opporremo con ogni mezzo necessario alla costruzione di CIE/CPT a Campi Bisenzio. Fermiamoli a Campi, chiudiamoli ovunque.
