NBC’s Heroes has finally decided to kill off an original cast member from the show. I put all my hopes in that fact that it would be Hayden Panettiere’s character of Claire Bennett, but alas, she cannot die. Instead, Heroes has opted to off Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar). This is an interesting choice seeing that they’ve “killed” him before 3 times but he has miraculously comes back.

But this time, it’s for good. Greg Grunberg who plays Matt Parkman stated in an interview that the Petrelli Brothers were “safe”, but I guess he got incorrect information. Pasdar’s exit from the show came as a surprise to the actor. Apparently, he found out that he was getting the boot from reading the script (ouch).

No word on when Pasdar’s last episode on the show is, but be sure that he will not survive season 4. Let’s see if this death will help the show. I doubt it seeing that he’s “died” already.

When Heroes first graced by television screen, I was fresh off season 23 of 24 and wanted something

When Heroes first graced by television screen, I was fresh off season 23 of 24 and wanted something different for my Mondays at 8/7 central viewing slot. Sure, the show’s premise was straight out of X-Men (minus a wheelchair bound supergenius with the ability to, literally, mindfuck you). Sure, it was over-the-top. And, sure it was convoluted in the way that if you miss one episode, you’re almost certainly screwed (and not even the “Previously on Heroes” intro could save you). But, the show was written well, the characters were well-rounded, the bad guys were actually bad and evil–even though they still had some civility, and season one ended as it should have: a big bang that should have ended the series as well.
And then comes season two: a giant love-fest that, mercifully, ended after the writer’s strike.
And, then comes season three, which wasn’t as bad as season two (at least it got Marlo Stanfield working again). But, again, compared to season one, it was God-awful. Hiro was reduced to a child, literally and figuratively. Claire, the girl that can’t die, became even more of a moody, bitchy brat. Nathan Petrelli died and became Sylar in order to keep Sylar under wraps–and to keep him from eating more brains, or something. And all the while, we got about 30 new characters that ended up dying by the end of the season…I guess.
And, now we’re at (sigh) season four.
Tim Kring must have a rule that “no one that dies on this show really stays dead,” especially considering that we’ve seen Charlie die of a blood clot, Sylar, and possibly now being trapped in time forever. Plus, we have Niki and “triplets” (FTW?!) and the numerous Butterfly Effect type scenarios that destroy the world. That, and now, basically everyone has superpowers. Ando with his whole “I am LASERS” routine, Suresh with his alien/bug/zombie(?) thing last season, the recruits from last season, hell…Matt Parkman’s baby is probably the second coming of Jack Jack. (Incredibles fan, anyone?)
Yawn.
So, I’m watching Heroes–a show that was once the greatest thing on television for me–last night and fell asleep before the show was halfway over (and woke up on the clearly Michael Bay-influenced “Trauma,” but that’s another rant, entirely)
Yeah, it’s safe to say that Heroes is on pedestrian status now. Hell, even House, with its derivative plots–or Grey’s, with its shitshow of a plot this season–entice me more. Hopefully, that show V, that premieres tonight, can restore my faith in sci-fi on broadcast networks. But, considering it’s basically a reboot of an 80s franchise (does Hollywood have any original ideas anymore?), I may just pass on the premiere for a free showing of “The Fourth Kind.”
At least they both have aliens.

While I applaud the writers for a surprise twist that I didn’t see coming, (literally, who would have thought there would be another invisible person?) what is up with Gretchen? There is defintely more to this creepy lesbian roommate than meets the eye…

But so far this season, I have found that my new favorite character is not Emma. Her story and her ability is pretty boring. I am a fan of the writers finally putting “The Greatest American Hero” theme into the show! It was most excellent! Believe it or not…

No, the award of most interesting new character has to be Samuel. I think the whole carnival story arc is fascinating! Especially when we found out that the person who pushed the girl out of the window was a carnie. Also, I am loving the mystery involved with his crack team of people with their unique abilities. So what is with the ink? Where did the carnival go? Is that why we need the compass tattoo? I need answers!

Sylar’s tabula rasa is quite intriguing. So he is now a scared man who has no idea who he is, where he came from, and why he can do all of these weird things. Could it be that Lydia wasn’t able to make out the face of the newest family member because he doesn’t have an identity? Because it was masked as Nathan Petrelli the dead man?

And is Nathan gone forever? I am way more a fan of Nathan than Peter. Nathan is definitely a far superior Petrelli, and what are we Adrian Pasdar fans to do without him each week?

This week was shy a Traci, Parkman, and most importantly, and Hiro story. Quite a disappointment NBC, just to let you know. By the way, where is Mohinder???

What did YOU think of this week’s episode?

Traci

She got out of the tub and got dressed up. Then she went to a restaurant where the governor was having lunch. He was all excited that she was there. She told him, “I’m back.” The governor offers Tracey her old job back, and wants her to have dinner with him. She takes the job, but has a strange look on her face. She meets HRG at the Japanese restaurant he goes to, and she’s confused. She wants something more from her life, but she’s not sure what. She’s happy she’s got her job back, but there’s something missing. HRG tells her that sometimes you have to go back to find out where you need to go forward to. She meets the governor for dinner, and he makes a disgusting pass at her. She goes to the bathroom and starts to cry. While there, her hands begin to liquefy until she can get herself back under control. She then goes back out to the governor and basically tells him to bug off.

Hiro

Kimiko told him that she and Ando have decided to get married, and she would like him to give her away at the wedding. He told her that he’d be proud to. Ando, however, was worried, because Hiro may not be around then, since he’s dying. Hiro, though, is still concentrating on fixing the sins of his past. Then the hero hot line rings, and there’s a jumper on their roof. The jumper (Tadashi) copied his butt at the year-end party and has since been fired. Now, he’s called Hiro so that people will know why he’s jumped. Hiro can’t stop him from jumping, so he goes back in time to stop the xeroxing. He shows back up just as Kimiko is telling Ando the good news. So Ando is once again telling Hiro that this is bad, when Tadashi calls Hiro again. Now, instead of the year-end party, it was the Emperor’s Birthday celebration. Hiro time travels again. Hiro ends up helping Tadashi 47 times, before he gives up and just talks to the guy on the rooftop. He ends up keeping him from jumping, and then he comes back in and tells Ando that it is time to tell Kimiko the truth. He starts to do that, when he gets a major pain in his head and freezes. Ando and Kimiko start to call an ambulance, when Hiro disappears.

HRG

He’s at a table in his new apartment reading his divorce papers, when Peter shows up. Peter wants to talk to him about the compass tattoo, but it’s disappeared. HRG really doesn’t want to have anything to do with it all, so Peter gets ready to leave. Claire then shows up. She tries to talk to him about what he’s going to do with his life now. He’s not sure. She opens up the newspaper and sees that a lumber company is looking for a salesman. He tells her that working for Primatech was a cover. She tries to help him with interview questions, but he proves that the lumber job is just not for him. Eventually, we see the people from the carnival. The main guy puts a tattoo on the girl, and it shows up as HRG. He’s shocked and asks why is she showing him this. Bennett has retired and wants nothing to do with us. She says that maybe he’s changed his mind. We then see HRG in his apartment with newspaper clippings about the carnival and the compass.

Nathan

Mama Petrelli comes to DC with a box of Nathan’s things to help him remember his past. (Mostly so that Sylar thinks that he really is Nathan.) He starts going through things and he can now see the memories as visions. When he picks up a baseball hat, he sees an old girlfriend in a swimming pool with blood around her. He goes to Peter and asks her about the girl. Peter mentions that the girl disappeared, but Nathan’s not so sure anymore. He then goes to the girl’s mom (Swoozie Kurtz), who tells him that she hired a PI who found out that the girl used a credit to buy a flight to London and picked up her checked bags. Nathan then walks around the estate to the pool, and sees more memories of the girl – including seeing her bump her head on the edge and die. Nathan confronts Mama, and she admits that she covered up the whole thing when it happened, because it would have ruined Nathan’s life. Nathan feels that he needs to tell the girl’s mom the truth – she doesn’t want to hear it. Nathan later pulls into a parking garage. He starts to call the homicide department, but then cancels the call. As he gets out of his car, he’s attacked from behind and stabbed with a needle. Swoozie (playing Millie) is having dinner with Mama talking about how odd Nathan was acting. Meanwhile, the guy who attacked Nathan is pulling car into the woods and digging a hole. He dumps Nathan in and shoots him 3 times in the chest. Then he fills the hole. Millie gets a call saying the package is delivered – she then tells Mama, that everything is all about closure. But at the very end, we saw a hand coming out of the dirt, a la Jason and Freddie…

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against gay people. I just feel like, lately, they just use this as a way to gain more audience, especially when hot girls are involved. First, Callie Torres in Grey’s Anatomy, then Rebeca Logan in Greek and now Claire.

There is something terribly wrong with the third season of Heroes. Either that or I am losing my min

There is something terribly wrong with the third season of Heroes. Either that or I am losing my mind. Okay, maybe that part was not very convincing, but really, I get lost at almost every episode. I presume this season is as gripping and as adrenaline inducing (pun intended) as the first two seasons since it already made me forget that I go to work at 9Am and I had to wake up at 7Am, but I forget the episodes easily. And this is weird because I have unusually sharp memory. That was because of the eclipse we had last I-don’t-remember-when and I felt like I was not human anymore, not that I ever thought that I was. I really am a monster, and I eat brains for breakfast. And now I assume you are lost of my random babble. Okay, my real problem is, I don’t remember who Linderman is. Or what power Angela Petrelli has, and how Alejandro (or was his name Alejandro? The brother of Maya) died. I wanted to stop watching but I didn’t want to so I came up with five reasons why I should keep on watching Heroes. Okay, I was lying. I never planned to stop watching Heroes, I just wanted to come up with a list because I love lists. I am that kind of geek. So, ladies and gentlemen, here is a list of the people, or characters, that keep me glued to my TV and will probably keep me glued for the next few years even if I probably would never understand the story anymore because I would soon forget about them. Oh, and spoiler alert-ish. I think most of you who watch Heroes already finished the third season but whatever.

Peter Petrelli

5. Peter Petrelli. Okay, he might be your usual eyecandy and he had a few shirtless episodes that keep women and some gay men watching, but his power is very interesting. He is freaking powerful and he probably is the most powerful of them all since unlike Sylar, he need not kill someone to take their abilities. Very cool. The season also showed his villain-y side or something and there were episodes when the viewers, I presume, were supposed to think that he was the real bad guy. Which suits him, in a way.

Hiro Nakamura

4. Hiro Nakamura. You have a heart of steel, or a sense of humor of a troll if you didn’t laugh when Tracy called her Pikachu. It was hilarious. I like Hiro mainly because he’s a geek. And I have always been a sucker for geeks, so yeah. I guess he was just overstereotyped, if that word really exists. His New York city scene where he shouted ‘I did it’ didn’t hurt either. He is one of the easy-to-fall-in-love-with characters in Heroes, the loser kid who is depreciated by his father which makes him seek his approval but he is so geeky that he just plays his PSP most of the time or read mangas that make his look childish. I am in a lot of ways like him. Except for the father part. Oh, and he is also the master of Space and Time.

Elle

3. Elle. Yes. That blonde girl raised to be an agent who has some 5000 volts inside her body. She is very mysterious and very likeable, despite the fact that she is a villain. She also seems to have a very special connection with Sylar, which was only shown in this season, or not, I don’t remember really. I wonder why I never saw her in any other TV shows or movies. Kirsten Bell. She is very pretty and she seems like she could be on par with Hilary Duff or Mandy Moore, except she looks sneakier, bitchier, and evil-er. Her pair up with Sylar is beyond me, they’re too sexy together you can’t help but wish they’d break up. Or that one of them dies *cough Elle cough*

Sylar

2. Sylar. or Zachary Quinto, that very hot yet very cuddly (really, now) villain of Heroes who likes eating brains and is ironically named Gabriel after an angel. Although I am not really sure if that angel was a good angel because I never really payed attention to my Christian Living classes when I was still in highschool. I used to think that he was creepy. Anthony Hopkins kind of creepy, just his voice makes all the hair in my body alert for danger. But well, he is one of the (if not the) most beautiful actors in the series. Him being there is reason enough to watch the ever so forgetful TV series called Heroes. Oh, and he paired up with Elle, for a while at least. That could not get any better.

Claire Bennett

1. Claire Bennett. Played by one of the most promising stars of today, Hayden Panettiere. Okay, so I really have no basis for saying that, it’s just that I have a huge crush on her and I have had that crush ever since her Bring it on: All or Nothing times. I am a sucker with cheerleaders as much as I am for geeks. Which, now that I think about it, is a little weird. I am both attracted to popular and not so popular kids who struggle through highschool mostly. Anyways, the stunning Claire Bennett is invincible and has been one of the most important characters in the series since the first season. Save the cheerleader, save the world. Even Sylar said that she was different. And special. I could so marry Sylar– except he might eat my brain and steal my X-Ray vision ability. Okay, that’s a little creepy. Scratch that. Like Elle and Sylar, she has Daddy issues too. Poor Claire Bennet is always being left behind by his adoptive parent, Noah. Oh Claire. I could babysit you for a day or two. While we’re at it, teach me how to do numerous cartwheels that make other people’s jaws drop.

+++

You probably finished watching the third season of Heroes alreeady. Or have stopped watching Heroes like most people for reasons that are so obvious. I just made this list because Ilove making lists. I always have, even when I was still a child. I used to tally how many times some product advertisements appear on TV then tell my Yaya back then what the top commercials were, based on the number of times they were shown on TV. I am such a weird bastard.

It is much easier to weave the tale of this week’s episode of Heroes by separating the main storylines. However, I am sorry to report that no Hiro on Heroes this week was an utter disappointment by all of us fans. Boo!

Claire

Gretchen keeps trying to talk to Claire about what she saw when Claire was testing the theory about the roommate jumping out the window. Claire of course doesn’t want to talk about it. When HRG shows up at the school to take Claire to lunch, Gretchen gets herself invited to go with them. Gretchen lets it slip to HRG that she knows about Claire’s ability. HRG is about to call the Haitian to wipe out Gretchen’s memory of Claire’s ability, but Claire threatens him if he does. He backs down. She tells him she’ll handle it on her own.

Claire tells Gretchen that it’s been a long time since she’s been able to trust anyone, but she’d like to be able to. She and Gretchen end up talking in Claire’s room, and she explains all about her ability. Gretchen even gets a chance to test it. Then Claire invites her to become her new roommate.

Peter

He’s collecting the newspaper stories of the people that he saves with his abilities. As he’s posting them on the wall, he gets served by a process server. He goes to find the paperwork on the case of the person who’s suing him, and he meets a deaf woman (who we earlier saw waking up in the morning). He then finds the guy in one of the rehab rooms, and it’s the creepy Sullivan guy from the carnival. He’s telling Peter that he has to sue him, because he’s being told that it’s going to be months before he can work again. Peter is convinced that they’ve never met and that he wasn’t in the accident. Sullivan points out that Peter is working 2 and 3 shifts at a time, and how would he be able to remember who was in which accident. Peter talks to his partner, who tells him that their co-workers think that he’s been glory-hounding and causing the accidents himself.

He goes back to his apartment. The carnival guy is there and he has just put his own picture into the newspaper shot of the bus accident that he’s suing Peter over. He sneaks out without Peter seeing him. Peter later catches up with him in the park. Peter apologizes to him for not realizing that he was in the accident. Peter then explains to him about why he works as an EMT rather than hospice; “I wanted to save lives instead of watching them die slowly and painfully.” The carnie says that Peter is the man he thought he was, shakes his hand, and then says that he’s dropping the lawsuit. Peter recommends that the carnie go back to his family’s home, since it’s so close by. The carnie does that.

Turns out that it’s a mansion, and his parents were the butler and the housekeeper or cook. But, the owners were having a dinner party, so they turn him away at the door. He’s ticked, and causes a sinkhole. Peter goes to the call – and finds the spinning compass on his arm.

Emma

The deaf woman is named Emma. She is apparently now seeing lights when she should be hearing sound. Her doctor (Louise Fletcher) tells her it’s normal, but that she’s too shut off and she needs to be out doing more. Emma says she likes working files because they don’t give her “that look”. She also wears headphones, so that people don’t think she’s deaf – but she doesn’t plug them into anything.

Later at the park, Emma watches a cellist play, and when he takes a break she sneaks over to his cello. She’s been amazed by the colors she sees with his music, so she tries it herself. Suddenly, she makes beautiful colors come out of the instrument – and is surrounded by people listening to the music. When she realizes it, she runs off. Peter has been watching and follows her.

Parkman

He goes on a drug bust with his partner (Rick Worthy), and once he’s alone Sylar shows up again. This time Sylar ends up saving his life when the guy in the house starts shooting from inside a closet. When Matt goes to search for drugs in a bathroom, Sylar tells him that he’s looking at the wrong thing. Matt then finds a pink stuffed animal behind a toilet. The partner then goes to look in the garage for clues, and Matt/Sylar find the ransom note that the kidnapper(s) of a girl are working on. Matt reads the dealer’s mind and finds the girl’s body under the staircase. He beats up the dealer just as his partner comes back in. The partner and he go back to the staircase, and there’s no body – there’s no note and no animal either. Sylar admits that he used Matt’s power against him. The partner tells Matt that he can’t think of anyway that they can clean this mess up and Matt realizes that this has pretty much destroyed his career. He hands his 30 days sobriety coin to the partner. But then, Matt puts the thought into the partner’s mind that the dealer attacked him and that Matt jumped in to save the partner. The partner then goes to call it in. Sylar is so proud…

So I personally found most of the episode a little lame, I am a little tired of and definitely annoyed by Peter now. I honestly a little tired of his God complex. I am incredibly interested in learning more about this group of Carnival people! What exactly is their side? Good? Bad? Indifferent? And I am finding Emma fascinating, it seems that everyone is entranced by her musical abilities, but can they see the lights too? And does Gretchen have an ability or not??

What did you think of this week’s Heroes? Who are you wanting to see more of?

Confronting the fallibility of humanity each day has made it necessary to latch onto some escapism w

Confronting the fallibility of humanity each day has made it necessary to latch onto some escapism where possible. I have been plowing through books during my commute, and this past weekend I immersed myself in the TV show Heroes.

I did not grow up reading comic books, but became a fan of superhero stories during pizza and movie nights with my husband and brother-in-law. They have a tradition of drinking beer, eating pizza, and watching really bad action flicks, including superhero movies like Elektra. It’s just shits and giggles, and I love when they let me join them.

I needed to believe in superheroes this weekend. I needed to escape into an alternate universe where there are people with special powers who can do great things. I needed to see justice meted out with a flick of the wrist, or a simple thought. None of this testimony, swearing in, voting, burden of proof stuff. Quick, simple action. It was a much-needed release. I know that we need to hold tight to our words and diplomacy in real life, but in Heroes stuff happens fast. It’s fun and exciting and they are always trying to save the world.

Everyone has his favorite superheroes. It probably says a lot about a person. My favorite characters on the show are Hiro and Claire. Hiro is sweet, funny, smart, and earnest. He has a really good heart and is almost always optimistic and enthusiastic. I’m always cheering for him. I don’t want him to become discouraged or jaded. He has a great attitude, and he is determined to live up to his potential. His idea of what a hero is and how one should behave is shaped by childhood stories. He inevitably discovers that real life heroism is more complicated than what is portrayed in those stories, but he still tries to live up to them.

I identify with Claire because she’s adopted. She deals with feeling different from her family, except she is different because she has special powers. The question of her biological parents is answered before the end of the first season, and then that storyline sort of fades. It becomes less of an issue as she struggles with identity issues stemming from her superpowers rather than questions of ancestry.

We make assumptions about people all the time. Usually, we take things at face value because it’s easier, and necessary to get through the day. If we constantly questioned everyone’s motives and inner life, we would never get anything done, or we would have an absurdly small sphere of influence and interaction. The superhero story questions those assumptions. It makes it possible for anyone to have special gifts. It is about reaching one’s potential, finding your niche, and making a difference in the world. It’s about reaching beyond yourself because it’s the right thing to do. It’s about making hard choices, protecting the people you love, and dealing with the consequences. It’s life on steroids.

I have always been drawn to the idea of having a greater purpose. Most people ponder the Meaning of Life at some point. How deeply they delve, and what they decide, is what makes us leaders and followers, moms and CEOs, bank tellers and nuns, aid workers and businessmen. We all have a part to play. What is appealing about the superhero story is it makes having a greater purpose (call it aspiration or ambition or dreaming) OK. The superhero is physically empirically better in some way. It’s not ego or entitlement that leads the superhero to an unorthodox life. It’s God, or nature, or genetics, or whatever made him that way.

Does the very existence of a superhero mean, by default, the rest of us are inferior? In Heroes, this is the battle at its core. It’s Us vs. Them. Because we are afraid of Different. The funny thing is how often the superheroes don’t want to be different, how much they long for a normal life. They try to deny their powers, hide, lie, pretend. Superpowers do not negate the need for connection, family and love. If anything, those needs become stronger. Is the grass always greener?

The new season of Heroes is coming and its set to be one of the biggest and best yet. Called ‘the Carnival’, it’s shrouded in mystery but promises an assortment of strange and compelling new characters who make up a strange band of empowered individuals with a circus freak aesthetic.

Anyone who attended the San Diego Comic Con this year probably noticed the marketing for this new set of episodes in the form of a real travelling circus set-up that was constructed just outside the convention center, right by the Hard Rock Hotel. I had initially been confused as to what it was doing there, but the posters were a pretty big tip-off.

But if viral campaigns and big-top promotions aren’t your thing, here’s a straightforward piece: the newest poster for the next season.

Finally, die-hard fans will be less pleased to learn that the upcoming Heroes figures (including Nathan and Elle) have been cancelled by the folks at Mezco. For whatever reason, they decided to stop producing the figures so the original line is the only way to have your favourite characters in figure form. We’ve got a ton of those left, however, so be sure to check out our Heroes action figure collection, which includes the likes of Peter Petrelli, Claire Bennett, Noah Bennett, Claude, Hiro, Nikki/Jessica and more! Take a look by clicking the pic below!

There was a Heroes game pencilled in for later this year but it was cancelled at the end of 2008, ap

There was a Heroes game pencilled in for later this year but it was cancelled at the end of 2008, apparently due to the declining viewing figures of the TV show (although I suspect the extremely poor sales of the ‘Lost’ game – made by the same company – had more to do with it).

I personally think this is a show ripe for the picking as a game – with all the different powers available, not to mention the freedom to invent new characters and fill in backstory for some of the shows ‘lesser’ characters this could be great.

I’d like to see it as a third person action adventure although I can’t decide on open world or linear… I suppose linear would let you experience things cinematically but it would be cool to get to choose which side you would join and generally ‘play around’ in the city.

I’m sure most of the characters powers have featured in games so they’d only need to tweak game mechanics that already exist.

Nathan Petrelli - Flight: this has been done in loads of games. Iron Man, Spiderman (to an extent) and the upcoming Prototype all feature this so it shouldn’t be hard to implement. Hell even CJ in GTA San Andreas had a jet pack

Matt Parkman – Mind Control:

Again this sort of possession skill has featured in a few titles and again occurs in the upcoming Prototype. Any game where you’ve remote controlled something/one from a distance is how this could work.

Hiro Nakamura – Time Travel: This is obviously problematic so I suspect you’d need a plot device to take this power away although we could still leave him with the ability to slow down time.

Daphne Millbrook – Speed:

Most games have a speed boost and DC Universe Online (scheduled for 2009) has it as a special power so this one should be easy to work into the game.

Mohinder Suresh – Mutant: He only half turned in the TV series but it wouldn’t be too difficult to imagine Mohinder going the whole hog in the game and becoming whatever reptilian creature he was for short bursts of super strength.

Claire Bennett – Healing:

Again this shouldn’t be a problem, although you would need to make sure there was some kind of threat or way that Claire could be hurt. Perhaps knocking her out rather than injuring her? Only so as not to make the game too easy!

Noah Bennett – Nothing:

No power here but he’d have to feature in the game right? With his gun skills as his special, H.R.G (Horn Rimmed Glasses or Noah to you and me) could really bring some heat to the Heroes, whether he’s working for The Company or alongside the Heroes themselves.

Ando Masahashi - Power Up: Ando has a non-usable power that basically increases the strength of the power of whoever he is in contact with. This would be pretty useless to the general player as Ando doesn’t have any fighting/gun skills – perhaps he could be included as the ultimate difficulty test?

Elle Bishop – Electricity:

InFamous on the PS3 has electricity as the main power for the lead character so again this shouldn’t be hard to do.

Peter Petrelli – Absorbing Powers: No worries here, just a case of having Peter able to use the power of whoever he was nearest last.

Tracy Strauss – Freezing:

Sub-Zero anyone? Don’t need to say much more than that, this would be an awesome power to have in game.

Maya Herrera – Black Death: Couldn’t really think of a better way to describe her power. I suppose this would be similar to Tracy’s but instead of freezing them you would kill them with the dark black matter.

Sylar – Where do I start?! :

Well he has so many abilities it would be easy to include them in the game. Super strength, mind control, slicing up peoples heads to get their abilities etc The only thing we would need to be wary of would be making him too powerful.

The Haitian – Blocking other abilites: Again this could be really cool as it would make the other characters rely on their basic hand to hand or gun skills. Would possibly make things very interesting indeed.

Meredith Gordon – Fire: The opposite of Tracy Strauss but the same game mechanic.

I guess the main problem with all of this isn’t actually getting the powers into the game it would be working out how to balance them and keep everything consistent. I suppose the best example would be to look at DC Online Universe when it’s released and find out how (if) they have solved this problem.

Possibly the ideal would be to make the story playable online with everyone taking a different Hero through the game. Depending on how things unfold the game could have several endings, both good and bad.

I was quite disappointed to learn the planned game had been cancelled but hopefully another publisher will pick up the licence and make what could be an excellent game.

Slump? We are the worst heroes ever! – Ando to Hiro in “Angels and Monsters”

I’ve been watching NBC’s “Heroes” since the first episode. I really enjoyed Season 1. It did a fine job of establishing the “Heroes” universe and its mythology.

The cast was solid. The characters were, for the most part, interesting.

Then they blew it with the finale.

Then they blew it with Season 2.

Now, with the exception of last week’s episode, they’re blowing it again in Season 3.

That’s 3 strikes kids.

I really want to keep watching the show, but with each week it gets harder and harder to justify spending an hour of my life on it.

With that being said, here are a few suggestions on how to improve and/or save this show.

1. Lose some characters – We’ve gone from a tight little group of characters to a huge and bloated cast. Any time the writers find themselves in a bind, they drop in a new character with a new power. That’s just lazy. You’ve got 2 characters walking around with nearly every power you’ve mentioned. Use them. Also, when someone is killed let them stay dead. It makes the death more resonant. It gives other characters motivation.

Expendable characters include – Nathan Pettrelli, Momma Petrelli, Nikki Sanders (or whatever they’re calling her this year), the speedster, Mohinder, Maya, Linderman, Momma Bennett and the new painting with my eyes white guy.

2. Don’t be so mythos-centric – The “Heroes” universe is founded on the conspiracy of “the Company.” Much like the organization in “X-Files” they run things behind the scenes. Problem is we know far too much about them after only 2 seasons. Every episode seems to feature “Level 5″ the company’s super secret detention center. That thing should only be see a couple of times a year. Let’s have some stand alone episodes where you actually DEVELOP the characters. Its okay to have the mythology in the background, but it shouldn’t be the driving force behind the show. It should augment the story, not BE the story.

3. STOP TIME TRAVELLING – Seriously. This is the show’s biggest crutch. In a corner, time travel. It was clever at first, but frankly, now its just annoying. We’re into the third season and each season’s main story has revolved around someone travelling through time to stop the destruction of the world. Enough. Try telling a linear story in the present.

4. Stop recycling – The worst part of season 3 seems to be that it seems like a rehash of season 1. From the paintings to the dangers of Sylar, it seems very much like we’ve “been there and done that.” Stretch. Challenge me as a viewer.

5. Stop stealing – Season 1 was a riff on the X-Men’s “Days of Future Past.” I dug that. Now we’ve got the straight theft of Cronenburg’s “The Fly.” Its not even subtle.

6. Mind Your Own Continuity – Please! PLEASE!! You stranded Peter’s Irish girlfriend in a future that may or may not exist anymore. Does Peter care? Did he try to save her? No. In fact, he’s not even mentioned her since his return to the present. That’s not right.

There you have it. Just a few suggestions from a very frustrated fan.

“Save the fans. Save the show.”

They are right now enemies but it’s obvious that Claire and Elle are gonna find their way to be friends. The writers will put some kind of enemy in their path who they both must defeat together. And besides Claire is so good and Elle pretty bad. although Elle does have some redeeming qualities somewhere deep down. Claire will be with West and Elle will find Peter and that will bring these Heroes together. If there’s a Heroes Season 3 ( hope there is !) I can see Claire and Elle being really close girlfriends amidst all the trouble they swerve and the baddies they’ve gotta fight.

Cheerleaders are great ! Us Guys want to be with them and the girls want to be them. Claire Bennett is introduced as the indestructible cheerleader living in small town of Odessa, Texas. She’s just trying to be a regular teen girl living the typical existence for a teenage girl. That’s dating, partying, shopping, hanging out with her friends. She’s blonde and really pretty so of course she super popular. She tries to renew her friendsgip with Zac, a geek who used to be her friend when they were much younger. He wants nothing to do with her cause now she’s cool and he’s not. But Claire desperately wants to be friends with Zac. That’s so unusual usually the pretty girls are supposed to ditch their old friends who aren’t so cool. This is what makes Claire Bennett so special.

Also she’s got a superpower, she indestructible ! She gets Zac to film her falling off the top of some old rundown structure just so she can share it with someone.
