I think Kartel has lost it. I understand borrowing Mavado’s melody and chanting style and trying to make it big for himself this year but what he is doing now is just too disgusting. He has got to a point where he is killing dancehall and destroying the lives of its listeners in da process.

I understand it was hard fi him last year and he had to fight hard to buss again. He tried every trick in da book and most of it worked. Clashing wid di biggest artist of 2008 and copying each one of his moves. Mavado was di first artiste to make a big tune fi an athlete and it was not because Asafa Powell said “gully” but di man just said he liked Mavado’s singing style and voice. Now Kartel decided to make a ting called Gaza when Mavado was singing about di Gully side from di start. And even Kartel did sing bout Gully side when he was hanging with Mavado and Bounty Killer. Because him realise how Mavado make it big, he created a rival side to copy every one of Mavado’s moves. Kartel used this Gully vs Gaza to the extreme by influencing the biggest artistes in the world to not say he likes Kartel’s music but to say he is for Gaza, “the side”. These desperate measures are not only destroying Dancehall but destroying Jamaica. Kartel, who used to be da biggest artist in Dancehall has shown dat he cant buss again from just doing music but his career depends on autotune, causing controversy, imitating other artistes, engineering falsehoods and manipulating young and naive aspiring artists.

Recently Kartel sunk to da lowest with the release of the picture of his purported partner and protege performing an oral sexual act to a man who is believed to be Kartel himself. For someone who has made a following and a lot of money through singing songs against such an act (oral sex) and many other evil acts this is disappointing. Who knows how many other things he sings against but still goes on and do? The act which was depicted in that image is one such when one person does it on the other, the one receiving it also has do reciprocate so did the man in the picture bow, after the female played her part of the game?

Prominent members from Kartel’s camp have been heard openly condoning dangerous acts such as bleaching and the lady mentioned before has sung a song endorsing it. In a community dat is suffering this is uncalled for and Kartel and his camp need to be held responsible for their actions. Oh, and by the way, this is camp which our distinguished athlete chooses to endorse. I don’t encourage him to endorse any of the two but rather to say musics.
People see him as an ambassador. Mi bredda, you are like a diplomat and what you are doing right now no make you name look good.

Elephant Man says he is willing to clash Flippa Mafia at Sting if promoter Isaiah Laing is willing to pay him $5 million.

At the launch of Sting on Tuesday night, Laing said Elephant Man was running from a lyrical face-off with Flippa Mafia and, as a result the ‘Energy God’ would not be on the show.

However, Elephant Man says he is not running from a clash.

“Laing seh him waan mi and Flippa fi clash. Kartel seh him waan nine million, tell him (Laing) fi give mi $5 million and mi will clash Flippa,” Elephant Man told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Adding, “Flippa a nuh nobody so mi will tek five. If him nah give mi five, mi nah do it. How him fi seh dat when a we build Sting over the years. So how wi fi a run from clash when a not even competition dat. Flippa dead from the two song weh mi do.”

Back in the summer the two artistes traded insults in songs. Elephant Man did songs like People and Informa, whereas Flippa Mafia did Talk Di Truth and Who Me. After these songs Elephant Man said he did not feel the need to continue the lyrical insults.

As for the clash, Elephant Man said he was offended when Laing asked him to do lyrical battle with Flippa Mafia.

“Mi neva see Flippa wid a number one song yet. How him (Laing) fi seh dat? Him nuh rate mi. Di ting hurt mi. A big disrespect that. A Flippa and L.A. Lewis fi a clash, not Goofy, since him want a clash. Do betta than that Laing. Yuh a drop mi ting. Laing all right, God go wid him,” Elephant Man said.

He further said Flippa Mafia was nowhere near his league, as he had performed with the likes of Janet Jackson and scored many hit songs.

Although Elephant Man does not plan to clash at Sting, he said he is fully booked for December.

“Wi book out, foreign and yard. There’s no date left in my life,” he said.

Don't be afraid to wear color!

Absolutely NOT! I decided to write this post because I’ve  been seeing far too many people dressed all in black. This is okay if you’re rocking the “goth” look (and even they wear colors) but the everyday person usually isn’t going for that look. People wear black a lot of the time because they say “it’s slimming” and yes, it is – to an extent. If you weigh 130 pounds dressing head to toe in all black will not make you look like you weigh 100 pounds.

As a society, we place far too much emphasis on how much  we weigh. Adults have this problem and teenagers fall victim to this quite a bit. I couldn’t count how many times I hear students at my school saying how they think they’re fat when they weigh hardly anything at all.

Our teenage years should be about having fun with style and having fun, not obsessing over weight!

Many people also wear dark colors or neutrals because they simply don’t know how to wear colors or they don’t feel like making a big deal about their clothing. If this sounds like you, maybe try just rocking one bold, colorful piece of clothing or accessory. Or just take a chance! Wear something crazy!

I believe you can wear anything you want as long as you have confidence. It’s the ultimate accessory.

So lets not obsess over our weight or be afraid to rock some killer  style!

The way I always look at it when I worry about something like my weight or what I’m wearing is this: people are going to think what they want anyway. For every person who doesn’t like what you’re wearing, there will be 2 or more people who do.

It doesn’t matter what you wear or how strange you think you may look, it’s the confidence you rock along with that smashing ensemble. These are the best years of our lives. We should be gossiping and wearing whatever we want!

Never be afraid to rock color!

Se você gosta de rock, mas rock mesmo, então você não pode perder a noite de hoje do Berlin com a banda Deal With The Devil.

Os violões de aço plugados, com a bateria, o baixo acústico e a gaita dão o timbre diferenciado para os clássicos revisitados pelo Deal With The Devil. A banda paulistana, formada por Johnny Monster que está presenta na voz, baixo, violão e percussão, Judaz Mallet na voz, violão e baixo, Mondrian Alvez com o violão, voz e gaita e Eduardo Ramirez com o som da bateria, voz e percussão. O quarteto homenageia grandes nomes e assina seu pacto com os ídolos que incendiaram o mundo da música.

As influências são do mais puro rock dos anos 60, 70 e 80. Many Thai J-Rock fans blamed Thai artists that they copied Japanese songs. In fact, they should believe in ability of Thai people, or say just, coincident or Japanese artists copy Thai things. Although one case is true, that does not mean other million cases have to be just like the first one.

One of my friend that I met when I just had been a J-Rock fan, always told me that a Thai band called, Giwa copies his beloved Luna Sea. I was so young, and I did believe him. I believe many things flood around world wide web. Thai J-Rock fans keep post this kind of thing up. They matched short parts of some Japanese songs and Thai songs, and they said that Thai artist copies Japanese artists. Most of the parts they matched are less than 10 seconds, and it is very easy that musicians can think about the same thing. It is coincident rather that coping.

Thai people are not stupid, because they can own many copyrights they make by themselves. Thai people can work so well if a reward/award is waiting for them, such as world robot competition, or sport tournament. Naturally, Thai people do not like to step up without motivation. Thai musicians have a lot of motivation, especially pop-rock artists after 2000. Pop-Rock in Thailand have been popular again after 20-30 years. Between 2 eras, Thai people consumed much of sweet-pop songs. Many bands was founded in late 10 years, and many old bands did re-union. The boys want to be cool, especially for the sight of girls. They created a unique style of Thai Pop-Rock. Many songs may sound similar, because those kids grew up with pop songs. Some people are different, because they listen to other things, such as Thai country songs and other foreigners’ things.

I am the one who really like Thai country songs. If we do not count the style of voice and Thai instrument, many fast songs can be popular in Alternative-Rock/Pop world. Both sound very similar. Many Thai people also listen to Rock n’ Roll artist from the United States and Europe. They get the influence directly from the original rock bands, and they do not need to past J-Rock artist. Some Thai people also listen to J-Rock and do cover, but there is less percent.

Clash is another band that Thai J-Rock fans blames that they mimic “Forever Love” of X Japan in their song called, “Nangfa Naijai” (Angle in Mind). I do know both songs so well, and I cannot find that Clash really copies that songs. They are same type of music, but not the same song. Although Clash did cover of L’Arc~en~Ciel, it does not mean that they do not have brain to compose their own music. I am a Punk fan, and many Punk songs are similar. Let’s listen to sample of DecayDance things. They are similar and they are good!

Another important conflict is the song call, “Ter Mai Kir Tai” (You Have Never Died) of a Thai band called, Two (they have 2 members.). My parent keeps that albums, too. The famous guy named, Tong. He helped around many projects. Thai people know that he is really nice. Right now he is older, but he just looks the same. I do not know if this nice guy hears what some people are railing him. I pass around the websites, many Thai X Japan fans railed “Two”. Unbelievable, I saw a guy wrote, “Two-Kuy”. “Kuy” (ควย) is the rudest word in Thai Language. He blamed Thai artists who did not know what X Japan was about. The company always manages things for pop artists, and the only thing that the pop artists need to have is the great performance.

I did look through the track list of that album of “Two”, and style of X Japan songs. (It is 2 years, I was their fan, my early high school.) The melody is weird for Japanese songs, but the song composer is weird in “Two” albums. I could not say, but the news already said that. They said, Thai company has to pay for Yoshiki. I do not want to believe. It is just the late visits of Yoshiki in Thailand. So,… My early high school time, a senior guy who was a friend of “Yai” (Yai was known as a big fan of X Japan in our school.) told me about this conflict. “Two did release “Ter Mai Kir Tai” before X Japan release Say Anything”. If I can go back to that moment, I will never show the goat hand to him. I did,.., I did that hand. He ran behind me and tried to kill me. Where was my soul of Thai person? I had had it when I was a boy scout. I did respect King Rama VI. I love his firmly goal to make Thai people to love each other as one big family.

The news was unbelievable for many people. That song sound quite like Thai songs, and the lyrics can fit in so well. No matter what the reality is, but if there is no that song, many Thai people will never be fans of X Japan.

There is another conflict of Neo Universe of L’Arc en Ciel, but that is a little thing. I think it is coincident, because it is just a small part of the song. Most of Thai L’Arc en Ciel fans are still young and rich, and they do not really care to talk about the past, because they look up the new stuff, and they talked a lot. I have many friends who like this band, that is why I can say. Like, once I met Kaun with her L’Arc book in a school bus, and we just began to talk although we had never known each other. We talked a lot. It is familiar in American people, but unusual for Thai people. (I am smiling.)

The main thing I would like to say is, Thai people always look down themselves. Many foreign songs were composed after Thai songs. Whenever they sounds the same, Thai people will say that Thai copied those foreigners.

There are other cases, such as Peace Maker’s songs and Josh Groban’s, and also the hair style and dress style of Thai teenager. Although the idea cannot be Copyrights, people keeps railing that style of dressing is wrong things. This may be only one attitude in a corner of Thailand, because most people do not care (me, too). They dress up and they want to be cool.

Let’s see the side of Thailand. What the songs that Thai artists composed before the foreigner and they sound the same! I am an audience and also an artist, and I will never say that they mimic each other. Many people can think about the same thing. The one part of melody or similar style cannot prove that that artist is the copier.

Paradox is so great at their show. Almost all songs of Paradox sound more modern than Hide’s. Paradox tend to be Alternative Rock, which is really popular in Western world such the United States and the United Kingdom. Hide is more into underground alternative rock, which can be found in both LA and NY. Although Hide did a lot of underground style, those songs are not popular. Hide’s songs which are popular are something modern; such as In Motion, Tell Me, Lemoned I Scream, Ever Free, Post and Honey Blade.

Rong Rean Kong Nu is so classic, too. This song is very old, but still catching people’s hearts. If you know Thai language, you will cry since the first time you listen to it. It is strange that The Academy is… has the same stuff. The world is so coincident. I played Rong Rean Kong Nu on Harmonica, too. This song is about children who have a hard time to get to school. They lived on the mountain and their school is really faraway. They have to walk step by step. They love to go to school. This song reflect the city society that many children do not like the go to school, although they are so rich and very easy to go to school.

La vimos en Ceuta, un día de diario, de improviso. Mi padre nos puso en marcha y nos llevó a verla al cine Cervantes. Fue una tarde increíble.

Si el lector no la ha visto, la recomendamos aquí enérgicamente. Harry Hamlin, peinado por su peor enemigo, las pasa canutas con el croma, y como consecuencia, planea por el metraje dando palos de ciego. Pero, como encarna a Perseo, no le queda otra que arreglárselas como sea, ayudado por el hecho de que el público ha ido a ver las criaturas, y no a él. Y los monstruos son la cañita, y la acumulación de efectos especiales hacen un conjunto muy vistoso y altamente entretenido.

Perseo, como su nombre indica, ¡siempre se las arregla!

El encargado de las criaturas era Ray Harryhausen, el maestro de la stop-motion, y Furia de Titanes es una película para el lucimiento de las criaturas. Mi personaje preferido es Bubo, y conste que no lo digo porque nos haya hecho una visita, sino porque lo creo así de verdad.

Es que es muy majete.

Dans une hutte perdue en Malaisie, d’après la légende, vivait Ali.
Ali, ex-Lunatic de son état. Ecoeuré du rap game il coulait des jours paisibles et des bronzes bien durs à force de bouffer du riz. Parce que là bas on bouffe que ça, du riz.

Ali -… C’est la consternation. Es tu bien conscient que mon album est sorti en 2005 ? Soit 4 ans avant le tien ? et que d’ailleurs j’avais déjà fait un son classique : Le code de la rue. et loin de moi l’idée de porter des jugements de valeur, mais il me semble que le tien qui s’appelle pareil, et bien c’est même pas du loukoum à côté.

Kennedy était donc rentré chez lui comptant les minutes qui le séparaient encore de son heure pourtant proche.
Lorsque tout à coup, on sonne à sa porte. Il va ouvrir et tombe nez à nez avec un individu doté d’une étrange tête.
Youssoupha -Salut Kennedy, il va falloir que t’arrêtes de me pomper.
Kennedy- Quoi ?

David Wingo’s sophomore release under the moniker Ola Podrida navigates a familiar path through the American folk of Iron and Wine or Sufjan Stevens, setting itself apart from these peers with understated poetical lyricism. Hailing from Texas, Wingo evokes the torn emotions of a claustrophobic rural existence as seen through adolescent eyes, but withoutever straying into sentimentalism. In low points it’s innocuous, as in the yawn of slide guitars on the country ballad ‘Sink Or Swim’, but when this lion’s belly growls it consumes absolutely. ‘Donkey’, the pick of the pride, is a triumph, its upwards melodic march to trumpet fanfares demonstrative of Wingo’s superlative ear for orchestration. Though not consistent enough to dazzle, Belly Of The Lion nonetheless enchants with subtle artistry.

Big pond to swim in, classic rock. For their third album The Shaky Hands have dusted off the gritty, lo-fi preoccupations that once earned them comparisons to The Strokes and plumped for a much cleaner rock ‘n’ roll sound. Educated in the revered school of Tom Petty, Springsteen and The Band by way of post-punkers REM, the Portland natives plug a resolutely retro vein that struggles to break from the mainline of their influences. While the A-side stomps with the tight, mid-paced 4/4 of more rattled numbers, its flip side meanders through rock ballads and poppier fare which hang from the quivering vocal of Nick Delff. Without the noisier production favoured for previous releases, The Shaky Hands are goldfish in a more seasoned shoal of rockers.

Miike of the double I is not, in fact, a man, but a Swedish double act comprised of childhood friends. Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg concoct thematic, pristine pop, echoing nineties dance and the slicker hits of this decade. The duo know their way around a studio – previous work includes production duties on Britney Spear’s Toxic and for Daniel Merriweather (with Mark Ronson). This eponymous debut marks out chart-friendly territory with dumbed down lyrics to match, sang through grating falsetto in ‘Song For No One’ or in the glam oom-pa of ‘A Horse Is Not A Home’. What saves it from total spuriousness is the undeniable gleam of impeccable mixing, but even that won’t endear outsiders to a sound that’s aiming straight for the mainstream.

It would be easy to dismiss Comanechi as all style no bile. It would be easy – what with drummer/vocalist Akiko Matsuura being chief icon for a generation of Japanese kids, collaborating with men-about-town The Big Pink and getting friendly with hipster magazines – but it wouldn’t be right. The reputation this boy-girl duo have accumulated from ferocious live performances rings true on a bloody, screaming pulp of a record that pursues grunge into the dead of night and then bludgeons it senseless with a loosely-gripped mace of punk. Whether squealing banshee-like or murmuring sex, Akiko’s perfectly off-key with the grind of Simon Petrovitch’s distorted guiter riffs. Together they’ve made an album that should carry stickers warning of blunt-force trauma.

It takes about the first four bars of rattled, warped rock ‘n’ roll on Childish Prodigy to read Kurt Vile like a textbook – a thorough one. His music is to the American rock narrative a lysergic sheen on the surface of a well – one that was sprung with Dylan and Young and filled over the years as Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Richard Hell, Stephen Malkmus, Beck and many others spilled their sometime bedroom compositions into the mainstream.

“I can’t put in words what exactly my music has that’s different because there’s all these parts of it that have been done before,” the 29-year-old Philly-native explains down the phone, “but I think it’s a combination, and it’s a little more twisted than many of the artists that I’m influenced by.” Vile sounds groggy today, breaking off the interview to grab his cigarettes half way through. “It’s just a little more far out, but it’s still straight-forward, kind of tripped out, but hardly at all…” he trails off.

It’s a week before the release of Childish Prodigy in the US, his debut on prestigious label Matador, one-time home to some of his heroes – Pavement, Sonic Youth, The Fall among them. This is an alumni he’s set to graduate into with an album that will redefine American rock for a new generation. A big claim, maybe, but from the squalling train-chug of ‘Inside Looking Out’ to the heavy, finger-picked folk on ‘Blackberry Song’, to his own take on Dim Stars’s ‘Monkey’, Childish Prodigy is a small masterpiece, and one that Vile’s been working towards his whole life.

“I always knew Childish Prodigy was the album I had to save up to put out on a bigger label, and put the recordings I did at home out on smaller labels,” he says of previous releases, which include several home-recorded albums and EPs, as well as some collaborative work with bandmate Adam Granduciel’s project The War On Drugs. Granduciel’s now a member of The Violators, Vile’s touring band. A four-piece consisting of Jesse Turbo (guitar, slide) and Mike Zeng (percussion), the band will transform the intimacy of Vile’s fuzzed bedroom rock into a wild, wresting beast before UK audiences this November.

“When I’m playing every night it’ll just be real laid-back and natural,” says Vile. “The preparation makes you kind of antsy. Right now I don’t have a day job, I’m just ready to do it, you know. I feel like it’s a long time coming, for sure.”

It took American rock sixty years to give us Kurt Vile. It’s taken Kurt Vile the best part of a decade to give us Childish Prodigy. A long time coming, for sure.

Another epic mythological spectacle coming to a cinema near you soon. Clash of the Titans is a remake of the 1981 original of this movie (with some added CGI I guess) in which Perseus has to defeat both Medusa and the Kraken monster to save his beloved prinsess Andromeda. Perseus is played by Sam Worthington. The movie further stars Gemma Arterton, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. Check out the trailer below:

THEY DON’T CLASH FRIENDLY ANYMORE – FLASHBACK 96′

DUBLIN, Nov 15, 2009 (AFP) – Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni ensured Wednesday’s World Cup play-off showdown in Paris against France will be a combustible affair after accusing a French player of insulting behaviour.

France, the 1998 world champions and runners-up in 2006, edged the first leg of the play-off 1-0 in Dublin on Saturday courtesy of a late goal from Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka.

The final whistle sparked a mid-pitch clash between the two sets of players at Croke Park with wily Italian Trapattoni hitting out at his French visitors.

“A famous French player (who he refused to name) launched insults at the end of the game against my players and this really surprised me. What he said was insulting for all Irish people in general,” he said.

“You cannot do that when you have won.”

France did all they came to do, scoring an away goal and keeping a clean sheet in a game in which the second-half performance of both teams was the deciding factor.

French captain Thierry Henry reckoned his team’s dominance in the second half meant they were entitled to the slice of luck that saw Anelka’s goal take a heavy deflection off Sean St Ledger and past Shay Given in the Irish goal.

“In the second half we passed the ball better than in the first half. We were creating some chances – maybe not great chances – but we had the ball most of the time so maybe that’s why we deserved the luck to turn our way,” said the Barcelona forward.

His boss Raymond Domenech agreed that France’s improved second-half performance was the source of his team’s success.

“In the second half we were more ourselves. There were a lot of high balls and that wasn’t our game. It’s up to us to impose ourselves and in the second half it was definitely better. The main point is that we didn’t concede any goals.”

Trapattoni agreed that France were the superior team in the second half but he refused to write off his team’s chances in Paris on Wednesday where the eventual winner will book their place in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

“We are a little bit disappointed because I think the fair result would have been a draw,” he said.

“It is possible to score a goal, maybe from a corner or a free kick (in Paris). Maybe the next game we can get this little deflection at the start of the game and it is 1-0 to us. Why not?”

Trapattoni also maintained his players had more to offer than they displayed in the second half here.

“I don’t think the individual performances were good enough from some of our players. There were two or three who under performed a little bit but normally these players play well. We just seemed to be missing a little bit of strength.”

However, he still believed his team’s attitude was good and they will need to show it again if they are to overhaul the deficit on Wednesday.

“We cannot allow them play how they want. We must play with the same attitude and the same tactics in Paris. We also have to pressurise them a little bit more.”

With just four days to recover the prospect of Ireland putting in the sort of energetic performance that Trapattoni wants seems unlikely.

Even if his team gets an equaliser they will be faced with a further half hour of extra-time unless they get a second.

But the Italian reminded reporters that Ireland have a tradition of famous victories against the odds.

“The team knows what has been achieved in the past and today we could have scored in the last 10 minutes. So the players must take this positive mentality to Paris.”

Caye, Marketing Services Manager for Meredith Corporation and part-time design professor at Drake University, is a woman whose life is greatly influenced by music. Her character is molded by the music she listens to and the culture she incorporates into her life. I sat down with Caye for a one-on-one conversation about her love of music.

Q: Would you say music has any impact on your daily life?

A: Absolutely. I need music in the background while doing art, or to drown out a noisy office. It plays dual roles by drowning out distractions and defining me as a person. And it has since I discovered FM radio in high school.

Q: Can you explain that in a little more detail?

A: I was a DJ in college. I was always proud of being the one to find new bands and give them air time. In my senior year my friend and I had a huge fight because we went to a see a show and she had no desire to watch the opening act, which was REM. I told her she had no idea what she was missing.

Q: So who are your favorites?

A: Well, I’d have to say my all time favorite is the Clash, hands down. But I have so many. The Clash, Sonic Youth…if you go to my Facebook page, I’m constantly adding groups to my list. I would say punk, new wave, and progressive art rock — anywhere from the ’70s to today — are my favorite genres.

Q: Do you follow current music as well, or stick to the older stuff?

A: Oh, I definitely keep up with current trends as well. I’m usually the one calling the record store, telling them new releases are coming and that they better have them in stock. [laughs]

Q: So is there any kind of music you don’t like?

A: Actually, yes. I would like to like hip-hop, for one, but I have a hard time with it. I really don’t like heavy metal, and I don’t think country is challenging enough.

Q: How would you describe the change in music from the stuff you listened to in college to today?

A: Music is coming back around to song-focused singles like the ’80s. A positive trend is the rise of the singer/songriwter. Take Sufjan Stevens, for example, who writes beautiful lyrics and sings. But even more than the singer/songwriters is that the internet is promoting bands that would otherwise remain unsigned. It is a great marketing tool for them.
