We are happy to show you our latest design made by Clayides. You may have seen the Dahlia pattern before. It is simular pattern which you will find in a lot of flowers and traditional carpets.

With a background in traditional floor ornaments, Claydies has used geometry and reflections to interpret rugs in a new way. Using the motive of the Dahlia flower, hence the name of the rug.

Tine explains “We got hold of Karen’s old compass and a bunch of coloured pencils and played around with simple geometric forms and reflections. In this way the motif of the Dahlia was created and we believe that the rug has now achieved both a classic royal and a modern funky appearance”.

The Dahlia rug is both decorative and will bring some colour into your home.

The Dahlia rug is part of the New Danish Modern collection – all Danish designers and all produced in Denmark.

Normann Copenhagen launches Blueclay, designed by Claydies. The decoration is new, the technology ancient and the result a sturdy and unique ceramic dish. Each dish is hand thrown in Denmark, and with its colourful decoration, Blueclay is a modern example of a classical and typical Nordic ceramic dish, which is ideal for both baking and decoration.

Claydies were inspired by ideal pottery art. The thought behind Blueclay was to use original decoration techniques, materials and design, as well as turning back to something original when making food from scratch. The dishes are decorated in wet layers with coloured glazing, using a special technique in which the colours are mixed together in a marble-like decoration that resembles the patterns that occur when you mix ingredients when cooking.

Claydies explains: ”We have worked with local materials and Danish ceramics production for many years. We think that it is important to preserve the unique techniques, art and handicrafts in the ceramic profession, and create greater awareness of materials and what we surround ourselves with. London clay has been used for ceramics in Denmark for generations, and was a natural choice for a dish that wakes thoughts of country cooking and farmhouse kitchens.”

Blueclay is hand-thrown in three sizes by a Danish pottery. That is why no two dishes are identical – fortunately.

You can indeed call the new Blueclay bowl for Slow Manufacturing. From the first lump of clay to the final product it takes more than tree weeks to produce.

Why the name? Because the bowls are made out of a type of Danish “blå/blue” clay.

Ready for glazing

It looks simple – but the Grass vase has proven to be one of the most difficult products to produce. Shifting from a few items pr. week to mass production has been a very bumpy road, leaving many grass straws broken in the process. But thanks to our Chinese colleagues Cathy and Roger we have solved the problems – and the Grass has finally started to “grow”. Grass will soon be available in selected stores.

This is one cool way to pile wood.
