Kuchling

Hard drive data loss occurs in a variety of different ways. User error, viruses, fires, storms, power surges, spyware and file corruption may all lead to data loss. Retrieving data from a hard drive that has crashed is data recovery. Most of the time you experience data loss, it will be necessary to consult a data recovery specialist, as most attempts at recovering your own data may damage your hard drive or make the data irretrievable at all.

Professional data recovery specialists have a variety of advanced and specific tools. In many instances, hard drive data retrieval involves substituting flawed parts in a “clean environment”.

No regular room cleaned by hand is a fit place to do data recovery. Even when nothing is visible in the air, contaminants still exist, and will cause permanent damage when coming into contact with the platters on a hard drive.

A class 100 “clean room” is a room full of high-powered air filters. The “100” means that less than one hundred microscopic contaminants per square foot of space. Any room with a greater number of contaminants probably won’t work for data recovery.

Clean rooms are very expensive to set up and support. The cost of a 300 square foot clean room is about $8,000 just to set up. Also, regular maintenance, and checkups are required to check for contaminants.

What are contaminants?

There are two main categories of surface contaminants that can destroy hard drive data. They produce defects in the miniature circuits used on the hard drive. Film contaminants are one kind. Film contaminants reduce coating adhesion on a chip. Particle contaminants measured at 0.5 microns or larger are the most dangerous.

Clean room environments must maintain proper procedures to keep out the most commonly known contaminates. This is a delicate and expensive process. The most common contaminates are: walls, floors and ceilings, air conditioning debris, room air and vapors, skin flakes, cosmetics, clothing debris, friction particles, brooms, mops and dusters, bacteria, organics, and moisture, floor finishes, cleaning chemicals, silicon chips, clean room debris, and metal particles.

For most people, the cost, maintenance, and trouble associated with acquiring the tools necessary for data recovery are prohibitive, and that’s why data recovery specialists are really the best answer when you find yourself with corrupt files, lost photographs, destroyed business critical data, or missing academic work.

Once you’ve exhausted all methods of retrieving your data from your operating system interface, your next step is to call an experienced professional in the data recovery field. In most cases, they are the only people with the tools and qualifications necessary to properly recovery your important data.

I have actually accomplished something today. I’m in the process of cleaning my room. Classes

I have actually accomplished something today. I’m in the process of cleaning my room. Classes start on thursday and I want to feel like I’m ready with a clean room. I actually have a desk again! My room also looks even more huge because I cleaned off large sections of the floor. I’m doing laundry, I have NO clothes on the floor, not even in organized piles. All of it is in the closet or dresser. All my stuff from last semester is put away, and all my books for this semester have assumed their rightful place on my desk. I still have a huge pile from high school sitting in one of the remaining corners that need to be dissected. BUT! It’s pretty good.

I got horribly distracted by poetry books including Big Poppa E’s greatest hits book that someone gave me for Christmas. Check out that man if you’re looking for a good slam poet, he’s pretty wonderful. I realized I have a ton of books that I want to read sitting on my desk. Maybe this semester I’ll actually be reading more. Last semester I wrote quite a bit… an entire novel! This semester I have to edit my novel and make a dent in my reading list. That seems attainable.

The other day I ordered Julia Nunes newest album, and since I preorded it I get a poster and some other goodies. I LOVE POSTERS. Probably not the most mature thing to adore, but posters are so much fun. I have a couple really good ones. Actually I take that back… I love pretty much all my posters. I know just where I want the Julia Nunes poster to go : )

Other news: In a previous post, “Tee’s”, I happened to forget one of my favorite threadless shirts that has been lost and found today… my Neighborhood Watch shirt. I’m kind of sad I forgot it, since it actually is one of my favorites. But now it is found and it can, not only reclaim it’s place in my wardrobe, but also it’s rightful place in my list of awesome T-Shirts! Time for me to play Sims 3 and relax after a productive day.

I completely missed last night’s post! It had been a long, exhausting day…I got stuck in traffic on the way home from school, then had band practice. After that I was ready to just go to sleep, but I felt like the entire day had been taken. I couldn’t decide what to do, and it was probably the closest I have come to being bored in many years…but I decided to go clean my room! I had a floor again .

Also, I was busy setting up my new ASUS netbook ! It is amazing! It’s so compact and sleek. I got it in black-finish, but it actually has some blue-sparkle in it, really cool. Uhhh, well the next couple of days are almost entirely taken up by social things, band practice, and other things that really don’t leave me with a lot of time to myself….or to do my homework!!! Fortunately I don’t have much, the only assignment I have is an optional one for my philosiphy class. I plan to do it sometime over the weekend. I need to get ahead in reading in my sociology class, but yeah, I really just feel anxious.

Hmm…when I get home later tonight I will update this blog again with “todays” blog.

With over 6 billion people on the planet and at least 3 billion of them using some form of health ca

With over 6 billion people on the planet and at least 3 billion of them using some form of health care system, the need for all types of medical devices continues to grow. From medical devices products as simple as syringes to complicated and life saving Stents, the need for these products continues to explode and the manufacturing techniques are becoming much more sophisticated.

One of the main challenges facing most hospitals, clinics and out patient facilities that use these numerous medical devices is the constant threat of infection especially post-operative infections. The advent of the newer, more drug resistant strains of bacteria, or MRSA, have made the medical community more aware of the need for reducing any possibility for infection from outside sources.

To ensure these medical devices and products are bacteria free they are manufactured in clean room environments and then sterilized prior to being encased in an air tight enclosure or special wrap.

The technicians that assemble these devices are often gowned and wear latex gloves and masks. This ensure no contamination from the technicians to the devices during the assembly process.

To ensure the entire environment where the materials, parts and final assembly take place is totally free of microscopic airborne contaminants, high efficiency particulate air filters ( HEPA) are used. The entire assembly areas are constantly washed with the HEPA filtered air to ensure a clean room type of environment and to reduce the possibility of shipping a medical device that could be contaminated and thus create a problem for the patient on which the product is used.

HEPA filters by design have a minimum efficiency of removing 99.97% of all particles 0.3 microns or larger. Many of the HEPA systems today use even more efficient HEPA media that can remove up to 99.9995% of all particles 0.12 microns and larger.

Pure Air Systems has been producing HEPA based air filtration systems since 1985 and has hundreds of units in operation in the medical market including; hospitals, clincs, surgery rooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing, post-operative recovery rooms, medical device manufacturers and doctor’s offices.

Pure Air Systems offers a line of fan powered, HEPA based (99.99% at 0.3 microns) systems that range from 300 CFM to 2000 CFM using variable speed drive motors for finite control of air flow. These units can be used as a portable system or attached to existing HVAC units and ductwork. The flexibility and high performance capabilities of the PAS HEPA product line make it one of the most effective line of HEPA filtration systems on the market today.

Levi is cleaning his room. I even heard the vacuum going a few minutes ago. There was some minor screen time restriction that preceded this amazing event, but even that has not always been an effective strategy in the past. If only that pesky orange paint would remove itself from our bedrooms, we’d be the champions of the world. Couple all of this with the mountain of laundry that I conquered this weekend and the gloriously unpacked and cleaned front rooms of our house, and we’re practically ready for Better Homes & Gardens to stop by.

" width="300" height="400" />
I can only take so many pictures of churches and towers in a city before they all start looking the same.

I wanted to go to bed early last night, but the flat mates above me wanted to socialize. I feel like I ignore everybody enough as it is, so I obliged.

I had finaly got on a respectable schedule too, waking up around 10 am and going to bed before 2 am. That was broken last night.

I woke up this afternoon only to be pleasantly suprised by a clean and rearranged living room. My Japanese roommate is back from vacation and with his excess energy had attacked the falling apart apartment. He went to over 10 countries during the month and was in high spirits. He is an addict when it comes to travel. Every country is like another shot of heroine for a junkie. His high was contagious.

As soon as I walked out, the flat mates above me invited the third floor to eat lunch with them. It consisted of meat pie, couscous and bawdy jokes.

A good start to the day. It is particularly rainy, so I will probably stay in and study German.

London was more than fine. Comparing my first impressions of Dublin and London, I would much rather live in the later.

The activities were endless. I really enjoyed the west part of town where Rough Trade Records is located. Stands fill the area, selling anything from antique golf clubs to Black Sabbath records with bent corner sleeves.

I went with an American friend. We in turn met up with another American who is studying in Scotland. The two went back to Scotland on Sunday, but I stayed behind for two days. I really enjoyed my time alone. I was free to wander the streets and take the train to random stops based on the name of the station. I was very liberating and no matter where I went, there was something to see.

I did all the cliche London touristy things of course. Big Ben, the Eye and Tate art museums were all on my hit list. I particularly enjoyed the free art museums. At least 50-percent of my time was spent studying paintings and cocking my head at sculptures.

I will have a chance to go there again in December on my way to Paris with my girlfriend. I cannot wait to show her around.

I have been recently learning about my family history through a second cousin on Facebook. I met her once in Indiana when I was in my very early teens. She is now married with children.

I had heard vague notions that my family was from North Ireland, but now I have more specifics: names, dates, stories. According to her, My great great grandfather (I am not sure the appropriate amount of greats) Francis Bennie Stone was born in Ireland before 1790. She said he moved to Virginia and married an Indian maiden.

The presence of Native American blood was always a rumor in my family. If you look at my great uncles, you can clearly see it.

So, I guess my great great grandfather ran an “employment agency” as my cousin wrote in a hilarious euphemism for slave trading.

It seems my family is from Ulster. I just visited the area when I went to North Ireland. What a drab place.

I have been thinking about posting some relics from my old music blog on here. I was reading over some today and I think they should be shared again. I should also start writing new music articles. It would be good or me. Maybe, I will start inserting music critiques along with my day-to-day life occurrences.

After commenting anonymously on a blog, the person has started posting only 1 time a week now, when they generally post 1 time a day if not more. I’m sure there’s some good reason why, or some reasonable explanation, but I can’t help but feel a little jilted!

I guess I was anonymously jilted then. Ah well, not like anyone reads my blog.

Anyway, I’ve just recently been searching up and I REALLY want a French-Style Bedroom, (google it if you want ;D) it’s so clean and crisp, but I’m pretty sure it would be impossible to keep so tidy, even for a freak like myself. Anyway, after cleaning my room, and sleeping with the light off (I know, sad, but apparently when its on, you’re body cells are still awake, so it doesn’t rest well…) I’ve been feeling even more tired than usual, it’s probably because my bed is so comfy now without all the rubbish.

**It’s been proven that a clean room evokes a good sleeping atmosphere, and people generally are more stressed/high tension when the room is messy** Might explain why I wake up at 1am and start cleaning my room sometimes… :S

g’night, sweet dreams;

I'm ready for ya, boys.

If you want be having sex, or be having more sex (and, come on, who doesn’t!?) the best thing you can do is make sure you’re prepared. Getting yourself ready for sex will put you in a mental mindset compatible with getting some. And feeling sexy will send out the come hither vibes that will make it happen.

Even if you’re having a dry spell, you never know when the opportunity to break it will arise, and you don’t want to be held back by granny panties or hairy legs.

Keep Up Your Grooming. Keep your down-there area groomed enough so that you’d comfortable with someone seeing it, should the situation arise. Nothing will kill the mood (or your self esteem) faster than an unkempt forest.

Keep Up Your Birth Control Routine. Don’t slack on taking your pill just because you haven’t been getting any or you’ll be sorry when you actually do! Not only will it mess with your cycle (spontaneous bleeding = bad), but it won’t be as affective and the last thing you want from a night of nooky is a night-of-nooky-bun-in-the-oven.

Be Tested Regularly. If you’re not having sex, you don’t need to be tested every three months, but make sure you’ve been tested since your last period of sexual activity. Health comes first!

Look Nice Under Your Clothes. Wearing sexy underwear can make us feel hot, even if no one sees them. And if that isn’t incentive enough to layer on the lacy goods, just imagine your love interest’s shock and horror when he goes to disrobe you and finds….period stained long johns. For realz, update those underthings.

Know What You Want and What You Don’t. Know what kind of guy and relationship you’re looking for. If you want something casual, make sure he’s clean and respectful. If you want something more relationship-y, don’t settle for a FWB just because you’re horny.

Keep Your Room Clean. Because you don’t want to tell that hottie he can’t come home with you just because you’ve got dirty laundry all over your floor.

In the meantime…

Do It Yourself. Just because there’s no man in your life doesn’t mean you have to be deprived of sexual pleasure. Take care of your needs yourself… it’s good for you!

If you follow each of these steps, you’ll be ready to have sex with the opportunity arises. After all, if you build it, they will come. (Hell yeah that pun was intended!)

How often do you get to be immersed in a completely alien work environment?

As a taxonomist, I get to learn about so many different domains through my work, from mouse genetics to greeting card manufacturing. Each company has its interesting quirks and workplaces…Like the toy manufacturer, whose workers had their cubicles adorned with all sorts of inspiration and materials: multi-colored fur, googly-eye collections, pictures of themsleves as superheroes…

But this week, I got to experience something completely different.

We just started a content strategy project with a semiconductor equipment manufacturer which aims to help their service groups (the folks who fix the machines) get the right information at the right time. This is an interesting project involving issues around technical writing and information architecture (DITA), integration across many different knowledge systems and databases, and getting information to users in a less than hospitable environment – the clean room.

A clean room is essentially a manufacturing or research facility that has low levels of environmental pollutants, such as dust and microbes. Pollutants are kept to a minimum through air filtering and circulation, as well as a strict dress code involving what are “lovingly” referred to as “bunny suits“. A clean room suit involves:

Glove liners

Rubber gloves x 2

Hair/beard net

Face mask

Shoe covers

Coveralls

Hood

Booties

Safety glasses

You get dressed in a specific sequence so as to reduce contamination… first being the glove liner, rubber glove #1, hairnet, face mask, and shoe covers. Then you enter a second room where you add the hood, coverall, booties, rubber glove #2 and safety glasses. You then walk over some sticky paper into an air lock, where you are blasted with some air, and you’re now ready for the clean room.

Two minutes in a bunny suit and you gain a quick appreciation for the difficulties inherent to working in such an environment. It’s hot under all those layers, you have poor peripheral vision in the hood, the glasses constantly get fogged up from your breath under the mask, and it’s hard to walk. (Well, I have to admit that the “hard to walk” part is probably because I was wearing high-heels in my booties – ill-advised and embarassing! I also made the newbie mistake of taking a cough drop before putting on my mask, and I ended up breathing menthol air into my eyes and fighting back tears the whole time.)

But if I’ve set the scene up appropriately, you can start to imagine the challenges inherent to knowledge work in this environment. First of all, it’s hard to get access to information – carrying around a laptop is difficut, your hands are slippery, there’s nowhere to set it down in this lab, nowhere to plug it in… Even if you did find a place for it, you can’t use a track pad when you are wearing 3 layers of gloves – it’s hard to type and the gloves don’t create enough friction for the pad to capture movement. You might use a tablet and stylus, but there are holes in the floor, so if you drop it… You might use a handheld device, but again with gloved hands good luck typing on that tiny keypad, and the screen is much too small to show detailed tool schematics. You don’t have access to the internet, so all the information has to be available on the machine, and there are hundreds of parts for each machine.

Add the next layer: search, systems and content structure. These folks currently have to search across mutliple systems to try to find documentation on specific problems… starting with the original manual, which is likely for the product as it was shipped, not as it was configured at the client site. There are multiple databases where there might be troubleshooting tips or solutions, but you have to check them individually. The content is not well tagged or structured, so if you do find a document that might be useful, it’s typically a gigantic PDF that you have to comb through.

As you can see, this is a challenging problem: how do you get the right information (the right amount of it) in a way that is well structured and accessible to them in the clean room environment? What part of it involves structured writing in XML vs. system integration vs. taxonomy and metadata and how do we pull all those pieces together to offer a simple interface to a service professional?

We’ll be working on this project for the coming weeks, so I’ll keep you posted on the conclusions and insights. But in the mean time, I’m sure this will probably be my personal “one to top” in terms of taxonomizing in extreme places. Perhaps I’ll beat it if we ever do any work with cave spelunkers, submarines, or NASA…

Share your extreme taxonomy stories in the comments!

“I used to be love drunk/but now I’m hung over” LOL. So appropriate at the moment. After stopping the whole “s” thing, I haven’t been back to the HP site…I feel kind of bad about it, but I never should have joined it in the first place, I only joined because of him and L. Anyway, good news, I spent all of yesterday cleaning my room. It took forever, but it is now near-perfect. I say near because the whole place was so effed up, there will be something lieing around, I’m sure. Still, cleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeean. I talked to K for ages last night, and E, but…barely at all to S. It’s like after his party we just lost the whole enjoying part of talking on FB for hours. I miss those days. Too bad, so sad.

Morning by the way, had to get up at 9.30 to help with moving stuff from L’s soon-to-be room to L’s old room. The world is dreary and raining. It’s terrible. Officially the end of summer. Kind of looking forward to it, but mainly, I miss summer. More because of the freedom then the sun, but the sun was a very VERY nice bonus.

Love

Slowly slowly more of my friends are moving away from Malta. The last to move away have been Steph and Lara, two now doctors, who were in my same class in sixth form and we also went to Egypt together. They bought arrived permanently in the UK last week…I have met them separately in the UK but not together as yet…but yesterday? SLEEP OVER DAY!

While I was with Lara last Sunday she told me she has to come to London on Friday (yesterday). I suggested that she sleeps over so that she can get to see a bit of London. BUt why should it be just us two? Why doesn’t Steph come as well? Sure! I have a quite teeny room…but who cares?

So yesterday after a day at uni I went to meet up with Lara (who had already made plans to meet up with another friend, Matthew [MGS]). Us three met at Warren Street Station and off we went to first find something to eat. The choice fell on pizza at a place called Icco (which MGS recommended as it is quite cheap ). Off we went, and after a lot of deliberation, the choice fell on us sharing a Hawaiin and other pizza between us. MMM…pizza! From there we then went off to McDonalds for some ice-cream/coffee/whatever. I am always quite scared of taking a McFlurry as I tend to end up with brain freeze, but they had this chocolate cornetto McFlurry which the others encouraged me to take…Sure I said. Luckily I was with Lara (a slow eater), so I took my time to eat my McFlurry VEEEEEERY slowly…and luckily no brain freeze set in…woohooo!

After our time with MGS we then went off to pick up Steph at Russell Square Station and on home, where (as a punishment for them staying at my place ) we played Carcassone, before settling down to sleep (after a lot of giggling/talking/chatting/whatever).

A new day dawned…Saturday the 1st of August

What to do? Yesterday we planned that we do a day of shopping…what better way for 3 girls to spend a Saturday morning? (and YES I know…I’m not a typical girl, but every once in a while it doesn’t hurt). So off to Oxford Street we went where we roamed through the shops looking at what was on offer. I saw a skirt which I liked but didn’t get round to buying as have no appropriate shoes for wearing a skirt in winter (which this is ). Steph bought a dress and Lara a pair of shoes…and I bought nothing…but who cares?

From there it was then on to the supermarket and on home to cook…to cook what? LASAGNA! The plan had originally been to cook pizza, but then decided to change the plan as cooking lasagna is easier than pizza and faster . I didn’t have grated cheese (unfortunately what I had left over from last time was mouldy when I opened it today so into the rubbish it went), and only 9 pieces of lasagna…but it turned out very well if I say so myself! Lara had purchased the desert for today…carrot cake…mmmm!

After eating however it was time for them to leave . Lara had t be home by tomorrow morning, and Steph’s sister might be going over tomorrow for lunch, so she said it is better to be home. So goodbye it was.

As I was saying goodbye however Irina (one of the research assistants at uni) phoned…she had arrived! I had collected a shelving unit from a freecycler but had never got round to putting it together. Now that I am moving I don’t want to carry it around with me (definitely not!) so I asked her and Linda if they want it, and Irina said yes…WOHOOOO. Today her husband was visiting with the car, so they came to pick it up. After the (semi-)clean for the girls and the taking away of the shelving unit, all of a sudden my room looks much cleaner and spacious.

Well…all in all? I’m a very happy (if quite exhausted) girl .

Ah yes, I AM flying to Germany today.

I checked and thus far my flight is on time. Probably because the plane is already there. There are huge delays at Boston Logan Airport today due to thunderstorms. I’ve got my fingers crossed. I’m pretty much packed. I need to get some last minute things together. I still can’t decide whether I want to bring my longboard. I might get mega bored when the people I’m visiting go to work or school. But, it’ll be such a pain to carry through the airport.

Right now I’ve just got to finish packing, mail out my netflix, and clean my room. I can’t tell you how nice it is to come home from a trip to a clean room!

I’m going to try to update on my travels (with pictures!) throughout the month so stay posted.

“Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up.”

“Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up.” – A.A. Milne

When I began this blog it was partly to write about the changes I was making in my life. The changes haven’t reached profundity, but they are good changes. One of the things I wanted to rid myself was with the stuff I’ve accumulated through the years. I am not sentimental, but there are things that I’ve kept through the years—little odds and ends that have taken up space in every nook and cranny of my small room. So I began a ritualistic purging. I began purging a month ago, along with the purge; I’ve been attempting to decorate my room to suit my taste. This purging and decorating is ongoing to this very second.

To organize I follow simple organizing rules, like:

Dig out. I don’t exactly know what the organizers call it, but in digging out I empty my closets. I took everything out of the closet and examined every single item.

Segregate. Each item I had was either placed on the “keep” pile or the “trash” pile.

Purge. I threw away everything in the trash pile. And I re-examined the “keep” pile and purged myself of things that can be kept but I can’t use. Those items went to donation.

Letting go of things can be difficult, if you tend to be sentimental to a fault, here are a few suggestions to help you out:

Have a friend (someone very unlike you) to tell you to “PURGE” and “LET GO”

Create a date limit. Throw everything that was written more than 3 years ago. Throw away clothes you haven’t worn for the last 6 months.

List three top reasons why you should keep things. Maybe you can write reasons like: I used it often. A very close friend gave me. It’s a valuable piece. Keep to these reasons; if it doesn’t fit then let it go.

My purging was simple. I wanted to be able to put everything in one closet. I was bent at having all my little things (papers, art materials, and knick knacks) hidden behind a particular closet door. When the purging was done, I bought a few storage boxes to keep the things according to function.

So far, I have two storage boxes. Storage Box A had all my art materials from scrap booking to painting. The other storage box held my writer’s notebooks. My personal files, I decided to place inside expandable envelopes and divided according to the kind of files. After storing them in boxes, I placed the boxes inside the closet.

I had one more thing, I had unused paintings. I practice painting in small canvases using acrylic paint. I paint ‘characters’ from my head and I didn’t want them to be displayed outside, as they didn’t fit the current theme of my room. To keep their aesthetic purpose, I displayed them vertically, in front of the storage boxes and files inside the closet. So, when you open the closet, you enter a gallery.

I don’t mind taking them out to get the stuff I need, as it doesn’t take much effort. Also, my closet shelves are equipped with rollers, so you can pull out the shelf to access what’s behind.

I chose neutral colored storage boxes so that when I move to another location/home, I can easily blend it with other things. I do prefer black, black may seem to heavy, so I kept to the earth colored storage boxes. The boxes I use are collapsible, hence if ever I empty the boxes and have no use for them its easy to folded them out and store them.

There is still more to clean and improve in my room. Watch out for other areas I tackle to organize and redesign. Hope this post made up for last week’s deficiency. Until Monday, see you!

All I have left now are the tga’s I uploaded. Luckily I did upload a natural makeup skin of each tone, but all my editing layers are gone and will have to be re-created. I had been planning on uploading and having a line ready for sale by tomorrow, but obviously my plans are much delayed.
