Slowly but surely (and don’t call me Shirley), I’ve been inching out of the Twi-closet.

Slowly but surely (and don’t call me Shirley), I’ve been inching out of the Twi-closet. At work, I’d disclosed my purchase of Mini E to my best male geek buds, and they let that slide. But When I created the Wall of Rob, I effectively ended any respect my co-workers had for me.

You can't even begin to know how excited I am about turning that damn calendar to the January page

Then, a few weeks ago, DH noticed that I would freak out if he touched my Crackberry. I’d never particularly cared about him playing with my phones before, and he always let me dink around on his PDA phones when I was bored at a restaurant or whatnot. I just didn’t want him to see emailed comments from the blog, which he knew nothing about. What does he think? I’m having some illicit email/text/phone exchanges with another guy. And he wasn’t mad. He was hurt.

I hate it when DH is hurt. I hate it even worse when it’s my fault.

So, I sucked it up and told him about the blog. I told him about writing about him on the blog. His response?

“Is that all?”

Yep, no Tiger Woods action on my phone...

I asked him not to read it because then he’d get all pissy about my language, and he said okay.

Who knew? All that stress for nuthin’.

But, no, the revelations continue! Last week, while hanging out with my SIL, I let it slip that I wrote fan fiction. I let her read The Beauty Within, which she LOVED. I swore her to secrecy. Her response?

“Sure. But explain to me again why you aren’t writing about your own characters.”

(BTW, Robmusement rec’d The Beauty Within and made this beautiful banner – thank you!!!!)

Okay, but all is still not well in fragileland. I stopped letting DH read my fanfic when he had a problem with Jasper cheating on Alice in Take What You Need (he hasn’t even read the end of Breathe Me). I was worried about letting him read my dark, smutty In The Blood chapters. And then I came up with what Greta and onepushyfox have assured me is an epic idea. I was considering writing it under a separate penname because of my worry that DH would be really upset by it.

After a wonderful weekend that involved forgetting about Christmas and putting some new fanfic-acquired knowledge to work *blush*, I decided to just fess up and get that one last weight off my shoulders.

Not Red Lobster, not DH, but the post needs more Rob, dontcha think?

Scene: DH and me at Red Lobster, spending way too much money on lunch

Me: I wanted to tell you about the story I’m writing with Pushy.

DH: *shoving a forkful of salad into his mouth* Yeah.

Me: Bella’s a vampire, and she changed Edward then abandoned him. He’s kinda bitter. I write the Bella chapters.

DH: *biting a yummy, buttery garlic biscuit* Interesting.

Me: Yeah, well she’s not a vegetarian. And she…um…seduces people before she kills them.

DH: *taking drink of unsweet tea* Cool.

Me: And she meets Emmett, and when they start *whispers* doing it, she starts only seducing women.

DH: *dangles fork in mid-air* *widens eyes* Wow, that sounds hot.

Me: *flabbergasted* Really?!

DH: Yeah, I’m a guy, remember?

Me: Okay, can I tell you about my new idea?

DH: *resumes eating* Sure.

Me: There’s a little background. *proceeds to regale him with same rant Greta, Pushy, and Cutie have all had to endure*

DH: *nods* *eats* *wisely does not speak*

Me: So I want to write this story. *proceed to tell DH almost the entire outline of the story, including the parts that I think will freak him out*

DH: And?

Me: That’s it.

DH: Sounds like a great story. I think Greta and Pushy are right.

Me: I thought you wouldn’t approve…and that maybe people will judge me by what my characters do.

DH: *putting down fork* First, I’m proud of what you write, even if I sometimes don’t agree with what you have your characters do. You’re really good, you know that, right? Second, who the hell cares what other people think? They don’t know you. Write what’s in that pretty little brain of yours.

Me: But you won’t read the new story, will you?

DH: Oh, hell no. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t write it.

Me: *relieved* I’ve had a really great time this weekend.

DH: Me, too. I’m starting to be really glad about all that fan fiction you’re reading.

[remainder of conversation redacted]

*swoon*

And, as awesome and swoonworthy as that conversation was, if I said it was the high point of my weekend I’d be lying *evil grin*

Now, if you’ll excuse me, DH will be home in a few, and I need to…um…discuss story ideas with him…yeah, that’s it.

I’ve been on the couch for the last two days, no Yoga, no tai chi, completely lazy and deep into chocolate cake and left over creamy cod fish. I can’t believe myself, but the thing is, I’ve been so tired and before Christmas eve I spent the whole night awake and then I had no time to get any rest so it accumulated and I let it come all over me and gave up.

Tomorrow I’ll be trying to clean the house, vacuuming a lil and mopping floors and sanitizing toilets and organizing closets, will anyone be able to help? Well, I can’t ask too much since today the boys did the laundry hee hee hee.

I’ll see if I can do the promised for tomorrow, but all in all wht I can say is the coming week is going to be tough on me, lots of calories to lose

Dear wordpress readers, I know it has been a while but the “while” has been truly succe

Dear wordpress readers,

I know it has been a while but the “while” has been truly successful on my side. What about yours?? Everything from discoveries to writing breathrough to creating even more blogs. Yes, it’s possible to have even more blogs than I already did and guess what the count is now: 14!!

The first, Just a Girl (at daughtersinthelord.blogspot.com), is for all the ladies out there!! Lord knows we need each other and all of the support in the world, “‘Cause it’s hard out there for a [[chiqq]]” LoL See, I’ve never been one to prefer a gender over the other, thinking one is better than the other. What I mean by that is, I believe in equal rights. Yes, I’m a feminist. Nobody, not even my grandmother, can stop me. Conservative views CAN mix with feminist views. God made us different but equal. A weaker vessel doesn’t mean a less important or less able person. I’m not a man, I’m a woman but I won’t ever let anybody tell me that means I’m less of a person than a man. I have felt like it’s hard growing up in this world period but being female, I know certain experiences of struggle we have more than I know what it’s like growing up being male, so, I’m offering support to all of the females out there in the issues we face daily. This blog is new, obviously and so far, just has poems and link lists. Any reviews, comments suggestions, comment on the blog, please!! Now, this brings me to the second:

LiL Girl, at lilgirlgrowingup.blogspot.com, is with the same focus as the blog above but for the younger generations and addresses the stereotypes of being a woman. Almost every woman has been referred to in a belittling manner at some point, by someone thinking they were inadequate because they were a female. A woman should not feel like a little girl in a grown-up’s body but many do..and some even still look like little girls on purpose. If you’re raising a young girl, this is the blog to visit. It’s all about the mentality of womanhood. I feel a need for this blog reach & cater to women everywhere, so, input is always welcome, regardless of age or location.

Last but not least, I have my editing blog!!!!! I finally feel like I can cool off with the new blogs because eDITORcHRIS now has her editing space. Visit thewholepiece.blogspot.com to see!! From receiving writing tips to receiving editing/proofreading services, it’s where to go for any writer trying to take themselves to a more serious level. Understand, it’s one thing to communicate and another to communicate effectively, where you’re actually being heard. Others hear you when they understand you and if you’re not communicating in a way they understand, you’re simply talking (or writing) not sharing. Things like fixing a misplaced or misspelled word can go far in increasing the attentiveness and focus someone is willing to devote to your writing. Realize that, in order for what anyone writes to be relevant to someone else, they must be able to read it. Each and every word is valuable and makes a difference. We all use words, whether talking or typing. Words aren’t going away. eDITORcHRIS will help you to use them properly, to the best advantage and make your messages clear. Guess what, it’s all for free, too…for now, at least!!

AS FAR AS POSTS:

On Saturday, December 19th, I wrote Top 8 Reasons to Take B Vitamins.

i’VE REVAMPED THE LOOK AND WORKED OUT KINKS WITH FEEDBURNER SO I’M MUCH MORE SATISFIED W/ ALl OF MY BLOGS AND DEEPLY INTERESTED TO LEARN HOW I WILL DEVELOP THEM FUrTHER IN THE NEAR FUTURE….

Also, in recent weeks, I have joined forces with MY BROTHERS!! If you don’t know them yet, you will. From recording music to inviting them to write on a couple of my blogs, everything’s been flowing beautifully!!

{{very}} PERSONAL CHANGES:

I packed to go on a trip to Virginia that I, in the end, didn’t go on. Read some context here: Choices

This morning, I prayed this prayer: Lord, I’ve made many mistakes…but if You forgive me, lead me now.

Unpacking from the trip I didn’t go on brought a lot of order into my life, as did the packing. I found many things and re-organized…one thing I re-discovered is this: What’s on Your Mind?, a book I bought earlier this year at a church. Bought 3 that day, actually. All of these books and more were sitting in a bookbag ever since my summer vacation and since September, the bookbag has been at the bottom of a closet in my new room that I moved into at the beginning of September!!

Now, on the topic of books and discoveries, I’ll be getting to those now:

–An e-mail from Focus on the Family had me learning of a great book to link to on my new two geared-toward-girls blogs:

Let’s Walk the Talk! Girlfriend to Girlfriend on Faith, Friendships & Finding Real Love

–My homepage is boundless.org and I opened up my internet browser to find them supporting yet another book I later linked to for my new geared-toward-girl blogs:

Raising a Modern-Day Princess: Inspiring Purpose, Value, and Strength in Your Daughter

So, everything was coming together!! I’m sure that they’ll be great reads and was looking for good resources to add to those link lists!!

Last of the books:

–Somehow, someway, no doubt being through blogging or procrastinating, I found this! That led me to…

Primal: A Quest for the Lost Soul of Christianity

I have a new author added to the list of my faves!!

Moving on from books into other media-related discoveries:

I went onto my MySpace and saw this comment:

The fun of being a parent is finding humor in the things that drive you crazy. There are fourteen do

The fun of being a parent is finding humor in the things that drive you crazy.

There are fourteen doors in my house. There’s the front door, back door, four bedroom doors, two bathroom doors, and six closet doors. With that many doors in the house, I don’t understand how my boys always zone in on which door that I’m behind. Whenever they see a closed door, they feel that it’s necessary to knock on it. I am partly to blame for this. I have always tried to teach my children proper manners. That includes knocking on a door and waiting for a response before trying to open the door. However, if I close a door that usually means that I need my privacy. It doesn’t seem to matter which door it is, there always comes a knock on the door before I’ve decided to open it myself.
If I’m in the bathroom, with the door closed, then I definitely want my privacy. It’s like these kids are drawn by some magnetic field to a closed door but repelled by an open door. Every time that I go into the bathroom to do my business, my business and nobody else’s business, there’s a knock at the door. There must be some mathematical equation for this. Closed door + mom= knock, knock, knock. For the last twelve years, I have not been able to go to the bathroom in peace.
Today, I entered the bathroom hoping, just once in my life, for two minutes of privacy. Lo and behold, what do my ears hear? Knock, knock, knock.
“What,” I yell from my throne.
“Mom, are you going to the bathroom,” asked Austin.
“No, I’m visiting with the Pope,” is my reply. “Of course I’m going to the bathroom. Why what do you want?”
“Never mind.”
“You mean to tell me that you couldn’t wait two minutes to tell me never mind,” I grumbled opening the door.
It’s always something that could have waited just two tiny minutes until I opened the darn door. The question or comment never comes in the form of a dire emergency. God forbid they have to wait two minutes, let alone two seconds, to aggravate me.
Earlier today, I went outside to smoke a cigarette and to get a few minutes of peace and quiet. Ha, that didn’t work. As I took the first drag of my cigarette and pondered what my next task of the day would be, my oldest son, Christian, knocked on the inside of the back door and peered out the window at me. With phone in hand, he opened the door letting the freezing cold winter air into the house and proceeded to ask me what his fathers’ phone number was.
“I don’t know! What do I look like, a phone book?” I asked with a scowl on my face.
I set my cigarette down on the railing and went in to find his dads’ phone number. He had called his dad several times within the last two days. It shouldn’t be that hard to find the number already in the phone. I then proceeded to show him how to gently put his finger on the redial button and keep pressing it until the area code for New Jersey came up. After all, that’s about the only number from New Jersey that is dialed on our phone. He kept pushing the redial until he saw his dads’ number. With a smile and a press of the talk button, he had learned something new. He was totally dumbfounded by his new found knowledge.
I left him to his conversation and went back outside to finish my cigarette. When I came back in, I had to dodge the dust balls floating across the floor as my husband chased them with a broom. Oh my God, he’s sweeping! Yes world, I said sweeping and not sleeping. Now that’s a first. It’s really nice of him to sweep even though I’ll have to go behind him and redo it after he goes to work. After all, he is a man. I went to my room and shut the door. Maybe this time I can get some quiet time. Usually, when I have my bedroom door shut that means I’m either sleeping or I just want to be left alone. As soon as I sat down on my bed, there came a knock on the door.
“What,” I yelled.
“Can I come in,” asked Christian.
“Yes.”
I waited for him to open the door but he didn’t. I guess it wasn’t that important. I shrugged my shoulders and lay down on my bed. Knock, knock, knock.
“What now?”
“Can I come in?”
“Yes! I told you two minutes ago that you could come in,” I screamed.
“Sorry, I didn’t hear you,” he said opening the door.
“What do you want?”
“I just wanted to let you know that dad didn’t answer the phone,” he informed me.
“And you’re telling me this why,” I asked shaking my head.
“Cuz I wanted to let you know that I’m waiting for dad to call me back,” he replied sweetly.
Will there ever be a time, I wonder, when I can relax behind a closed door? Perhaps I need to start hiding out in the closets. I have yet to see the boys knocking on a closet door.

The past couple of months had been so hectic for me that I hardly had time for myself and what I would like to do. But now that the holidays are here, I have more free time to do stuff that I’ve been putting off for several weeks. For one, I’m just done tidying up my room including my closet. I got rid of old clothes, shoes that I don’t want to wear anymore, and other knick knacks that had been cluttering my room.

Cleaning up my closet poses a challenge for me. The closet in my room is rather small for my ever-growing wardrobe. And this has been my problem because I tend to keep old favorites in my closet, even if they don’t fit me anymore or are no longer in fashion. I keep telling myself that I’ll get to wear them again someday. At present, my closet is still teeming with clothes even after de-cluttering it. It’s times like these that I wish a had a bigger closet. Like what Carrie Bradshaw said in the Sex and the City movie, “just give me a big closet!”

Of course, getting a bigger closet means getting a bigger room. For months now, I’ve been planning to move to another apartment. In fact, my sister and I had plans to invest in a condo unit ever since our respective apartments got flooded during the typhoon Ondoy. But due to financial restraints, we couldn’t afford to at the moment. A friend of mine suggested a housing program in Naic, Cavite called Ciudad Nuevo, which offers really cheap housing. But I guess that would be more convenient for those who live and work in Cavite, or at least near it. One of my housemates also suggested a high-rise condo called One Pacific Place in Salcedo Village, Makati. But the price range of their units is way out of my budget range. I have read articles from financial gurus who advise against buying property in these times of financial crisis. So now I’m more inclined to just move to another apartment (hopefully with a bigger closet) and save up for my future investment.

I mentioned last post that while I wear heels on most days, it was not always so. I used to wear fla

I mentioned last post that while I wear heels on most days, it was not always so. I used to wear flats. All. The. Time. That’s because they’re comfortable, and I couldn’t get used to wearing heels. I was working as a personal stylist at a major luxury department store, and my 12-hour work days were filled with running around, so I sacrificed that aspect of my style for comfort. That is until one day my boss told me (and I quote) “You always wear such great outfits, but then you have flats on, and it ruins everything. I need to see you wear heels more often.”

Time to learn to wear heels, ladies!

It sounds cruel, but remember I’m in the styling business. And more importantly….she was right!

So I trained myself to wear heels, it wasn’t hard or painful, and now I wear them almost constantly because, truly ladies, they do look better. As in, a lot better. Flats are still OK sometimes, but wearing a heel is what pulls everything together and makes you appear more ladylike and sophisticated as well as grown up. If you are the way I was, and you can’t stand wearing heels even out to dinner, fear not. Here’s how it’s done….

Step one: Get the right fit. This is vital. If the shoe is too small, your toes will be crammed. If it’s too big, your foot will slide forward and put all the pressure on your toes, and none of the straps will fit correctly. Your heel will also slide out. Neither way is workable or comfortable, so don’t do it. Go to a higher-end store like Neiman’s, Saks, or Nordstrom and have them properly measure your feet. You don’t need to buy your shoes there, but it would be beneficial to try a few pairs on that the expert picks out, so you know what a good fit feels like.

Step two: Start easy: wear a low wedge heel. A wedge is stable enough to keep you from wobbling, and the low heel height will keep your feet from getting too sore. A wedge also distributes your weight more evenly than a stiletto, so they are the most comfortable. Start by running errands in them, a couple hours at a time. Work your way up to wearing them all day.

start with a low wedge heel like these from Zappos

Step three: Work your way up gradually. You should try a taller wedge next, then a low stiletto.

Darling little gold Cole Haan heels from Zappos

The transition from wedge to stiletto can take some time, as it’s an entirely different feeling, and may even require you to adjust your center of gravity as you’ll be putting most of your weight on the heels of your feet.Take your time getting used to wearing them all day long.

Step four: Buy the most gorgeous high heels you can find! You’ve made it! Once you’re used to wearing a low heel all day, the transition to a taller heel is nothing, you won’t even notice it.

Gorgeous red Louboutins from Saks Fifth Avenue. HOT!

Some helpful tips:

1. If necessary, invest in some good insoles to give you the proper support.

2. Take good care of your heels! Get them re-soled if necessary, polish them, protect them with dust bags if possible. Also, don’t drive in them as that chews up the heel. Take them off when driving, put them on when you arrive. I do it every day, it’s really not a hassle.

3. Avoid strappy heels when you’re first starting. Those can be the most painful, and it won’t be easy to endure them when you’re not used to heels in the first place.

4. Try on lots and lots of heels before you buy them, this is the best way to get an idea what is really a good fit and what is actually comfortable.

5. Walk around the shoe department as much as possible when considering buying a pair. That’s how you’ll know if you’re going to wobble, if the straps will rub on your feet, or if your heel will pop out the back.

My final notes:

Of course it’s still OK to wear flats, as I still do sometimes, and I’m not suggesting every one wear heels every day. That wouldn’t fit everyone’s lifestyle and it wouldn’t work for everyone’s style. I think wearing heels is simply a good way to present yourself better, and to feel more put together, and if it’s something you’re interested in, this is a good way to get started.

Lastly, I would say expect to invest in quality footwear, but my last post about my $10 heels disproves that! So what I will say is, don’t expect heels that fit well and wear well to be cheap. You might strike the gold mine of cheap comfort like I did, but that can’t be the standard. Better shoes do cost more, most of the time.

I hope this helps you transition to heels, it certainly worked for me, and it’s been totally worth it!

Recently at a Gay Rights Parade with Lady Gaga, Clay Aiken, Blink 182, & REM front man Stripe, Asher Roth burst the hinges off the closet door last week when he admitted that he too is gay. Okay. Not the first gay rapper I’m sure, but the first Openly gay rapper, Asher is ready to “spill the tea” on an E! News Christmas celebration special this week. Asher, who was dropped from SRC Records, is the first major rapper to admit his homosexuality. Sources are also saying that HE is the unnamed gay rapper mentioned in former MTV exec Terrance Dean’s book Hiding In Hip-Hop: Confessions of A Down Low Brother In The Entertainment Industry. Mmmm-Hmmm. WOW!

OK, it’s been a week since I saw A Single Man (with Wayne Hoffman when I was in New York, at the Angelika in SoHo) and despite all its design gloriousness, I haven’t been able to like it more in the ensuing days. For me, I think the problem is character identification, or more precisely, the lack of it – SPOILER ALERT STOP READING NOW IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW STUFF – it’s just damn hard to feel sorry for a guy who seems to have everything, yet is for some reason going to chuck it all in a suicide. I mean, successful handsome professor pretty much has all the beautiful boys and girls lusting after him, he’s got this amazing mid-century glass house near the beach, wonderful friends, what I would call a pretty enviable life. His problem seems to be that he misses his boyfriend way too much (handsome younger BF died in a car accident several months prior to the action in the movie) so he’s going to punish himself by taking his own life. MMM K. ?

Even though during this time period the closet was a prerequisite pretty much for everyone, that is not even much of an issue here as the main character (Colin Firth) seems to be surrounded by mostly very supportive individuals. He’s not even persecuted, for heaven’s sake. Which makes the motivation even than much harder to fathom. So instead of being worried, anxious that our hero is going to die I was thinking, “well, I’m really kind of sick of this self-pitying wimpy character, the sooner he croaks the sooner this movie will be over and we can go get some lunch.”

Sorry about that. Bitchy, I know. Other than that, the movie looked great, every man in 1962 LA was apparently lean and hairless, and fetishized smoking. Something about an open mouth with curled smoke in it that does it for us. Also, I did enjoy scenes at a beach bar that must have been inspired by The Friendship in Santa Monica Canyon, where of course Christopher Isherwood (who wrote the novel the movie is based on) and Don Bachardy lived – and probably hung out. I certainly did after many epic beach debaucheries in the 80s (but that’s another post, something about beer and navels).

And let’s not forget the wonderful mohair sweater the young man (Nicholas Hoult) who’s pursuing his professor gets to wear in several scenes. Kind of miss those and I certainly am old enough to remember when they were all the shit. A Single Man hugely benefits from Julianne Moore’s scenes, as she lights up the brooding screen whenever she’s on it.

Not to discourage you from going, by all means do so and support independent film. From what I understand Tom Ford used his own coin to make this film, and that is a huge accomplishment in itself. I just want to see Colin Firth smile.

One of the most high profile gay sportsman to come out of the closet in recent years is Gareth Thoma

One of the most high profile gay sportsman to come out of the closet in recent years is Gareth Thomas, former Wales and Lions captain. News began breaking publicly in the early hours of today.

Former Wales and Lions captain Gareth Thomas has broken one of the major taboos that surround sport by revealing he is gay.

The 35-year-old joins stars like basketball’s John Amaechi and hurling’s Donal Og Cusack who have come out.

“Just because you are gay, it doesn’t mean you fancy every man who walks the planet,” Thomas told the Daily Mail.

“I don’t want to be known as a gay rugby player. I am a rugby player first and foremost. I am a man.”

Source: BBC Sport

Thomas, Wales’ most-capped player, said it had been “really tough” hiding his sexuality, but hoped coming out would help future generations of rugby players.

He said his close family and friends had accepted his decision and would continue to support him. The 35-year-old said he had no plans to launch a “crusade” but wanted to send a “positive message” to other gay people.

Thomas, who has 100 international caps, captained Wales in 2005 to their first Grand Slam victory since 1978 and led the British Lions tour of New Zealand later that year.

Source: Times Online

This is not big news – and it is big news.

It is not big news because there are, literally, millions of gay people – both here in the UK and everywhere else. It’s not a lifestyle choice. Don’t ever fool yourself on that count. It isn’t.

It is big news because high profile sportsmen coming out as gay is still all too rare. Much of this is rooted in the media of the 1950s-80s, where gay men have too often been portrayed as weak, unmanly, girly, etc. Some are. Heck – some perfectly straight men are. But the convenient stereotype was perpetuated by the media and entertainment industries for all it was worth for generations. It was always, ultimately, a negative stereotype – regardless of how much the person made you laugh.

Think back a few thousand years to the Sacred Band of Thebes. I don’t think you’d find them to be weak. But those representations of gay men aren’t as convenient to use as they don’t fit the mould.

Of course he will face homophobia, hate mail and all the rest of it. There are a lot of people out there too mind-numbingly stupid, too lobotomised either by their religion or their hypocrisy-ridden ‘family values’ mindset that will condemn him. But these people are becoming more and more irrelevant. They’re now at the margins. Of course, such people can identify with the backward rulers of Uganda, other parts of Africa and also the Middle East, where homophobia is state endorsed. To those that share their backward, stone age mindset – take a good long look at yourself and the people that identify with your mindset.

Anyway, less vitriol and more celebration. Is good news. And as I was born in Wales (which technically makes me a Welshman??!) I’m doubly pleased.

Keep Holding On – Glee Cast Version everything is finally moved in. finally! it was ridiculous

Keep Holding On – Glee Cast Version

everything is finally moved in. finally! it was ridiculous how the apartment had never been cleaned. it shines now tho, thanks to my lovely madre. she’s a self-professed clean freak and while i was stressed out this week cleaning and organzing and stuff, i miss her now that she’s gone. it was nice to see her. and in less than a week i’ll see my dad too!

my living room is all set up. i have a beautful 7 foot tall bookshelf the boy toy got for me from lewis and clark. also the very pretty tv stand from IKEA mentioned last post. also a cool rug, a fancy goose neck lamp, glass table, fred meyer chairs, and a green recliner. i’m all fancy and have an “office” by the door that doesn’t work. even has steps to lead up to it. office aka storgae haha.

bedroom closet is full of stuff because there’s lots of room…aka storage…so its packed. and now has its own snazzy black bookshelf. and full length mirror that frankie is going to put up for me later.

my bathroom is an adventure. there’s no outlet, my shower curtain clings to you when you shower because its a claw-foot tub. takes foooorever to heat up in the morning/first time you turn it on. i have a tv table behind the tub for storage. the calking is all kinds of hot mess.

the kitchen has loads of shelves, 4 outlets, and uneven dutch oven, and no drawers. but its kinda cool to not have drawers. i have an entire shelf of mugs/cups and i like being able to see them.

basically, my old basement apartment has character and it feels good to have my own place.

walking to work at 6am was actually kind of wonderful. traffic and people weren’t as hectic as the rest of the week, it wasn’t too cold, and i like the stress of not driving. people in portland rush hour traffic are craaaaazy. and impatient. but i don’t have to deal with it anymore! hopefully the novelty of walking to work doesn’t wear off anytime soon. =D

in other news…
~sarah is gradumacated! =D congrats!
~saw val and kelly for dinner on wednesday night. very fun. i’m excited for january because val will have more time to hang out/movie night/be less stressed.
~all my shows are disappearing…which is good since i won’t have cable in my apartment for awhile. going to try and get internet next week. it’ll be $20/month for 6 months, then it jumps to $42/month. YIKES. idk what i’m going to do when it comes to that. although, maybe once i become a real ruby, i get a raise?? who knows. not that important right now. not for 6 months ha!
~i forgot that i work christmas eve so i’ll only be home for 3 days and 4 nights. better than not going at all.
~i am so behin on christmas shopping. i did not realize it’s only a week away! ohmygosh. val i don’t have to worry about until after january 3rd because she’s home now. kelly i’m working on. sarah still need to figure out. got frankie one part but need to figure out the rest. madre i have an idea. for my dad my mom gave me an idea. idk. i’m failing this year. oy.

off early on a friday. wooooo hoooooooo. sleep? or up late? disconnected till monday maybe. happy friday/weekend everyone!

listening to the glee soundtrack. *sniff sniff* not till april… *sigh* …”maybe you could take me in, somewhere underneath your skiiiiiiiin, what do you saaay to takin’ chances? what do you saaay to jumpin’ off the edge? never knowing if there’s solid ground below, or hand to hold, or hell to pay. what do you say? what do you saaaaaaaay?”
