I had booked an MOT for 12:10pm today so at about 11:00am I headed out to the garage to start it up and get the battery charged. I used booster cables to hook up to my 240 to charge the battery for a while before I attempted to start it. I got the engine started on about the third attempt which was when I found that the clutch had seized again. I got the car out of the garage on the starter and let it warm up the engine while I had occasional attempts to unseize the clutch. It took quite a few tries before I finally broke it free and I did not have much time left before the MOT appointment. The MOT went fairly smoothly with just a headlight needing adjusting and an advisory for a seatblet beginning to fray. I did have a bit of a worry when I saw a liquid dripping from the car when it was up on the ramp but I eventually realised it was just the screen wash from the wipers test. So I now have a shiny new MOT certificate, the insurance and tax disc were also renewed last month so it is all road legal again. The pinion seal definitely needs replacing and sooner rather than later as there was quite a pool of oil from where it sat and dripped all winter. This is not an easy job as the torque required to undo the nut on the flange is quite high indeed, so you need a robust way to stop the flange rotating.

Ci sono delle borse eleganti e senza tempo, che rimarranno sempre uno degli accessori preferiti all’interno dell’armadio di ogni donna. Tra queste borse sicuramente hanno un posto favorito tutte le Miu Miu, raffinate e sempre di qualità. Ma chi avrebbe mai pensato che comprando una pochette si potesse avere anche una preziosa collana? Si tratta delle Stage Bag della collezione invernale di Miu Miu, pochette in pelle abbellite da borchie e da una tracolla gioiello, che si può staccare ed utilizzare come collana di pietre con tanto di logo della maison.

That Brilliant piece of work; the clutch rig.  Car-Man sorted this out in the hardware department of the local mega-box store, it pulls back the clutch so the transmission can be installed.  It’s fully adjustable and worked extremely well, for under $5.   I’m happy with it because it was my fingers that were trying to hold the clutch earlier as he shimmied the transmission into place.

Here are some other tools that I think are not mentioned often during car-talk, but are highly useful, at least for us:

Cloth Diapers – The jack has a carefully folded cloth-diaper to stop it from marring the transmission.  They are a MUST for working on a car and are used at almost every step of the build because they are tough and don’t shred like paper towels, and they don’t scratch the finish on any of the expensive chrome and stainless steel parts.

Pee-Pads – All you dog people will recognize the blue edged paper pads, buy them in bulk (the 10 pack works well), they are great for catching drips of pretty much anything that comes out of an engine and with the plastic backing, the leak stays where it should.

Garden kneeling pad  – That green tubular steel stool by the red jack, let me tell you it has saved knees, shoulders and elbows.  This one flips so you can rest low to the ground, or at seating height.  Get a sturdy one, all metal.  This one came from Car-Man’s Mom who envisioned seeing it in the garden – it might make it there one day after it’s been retired from the car shop.

Mirror – The ladies make-up style because it has two different magnification sides and a silly wire stand that holds it in place.   It’s bigger than those mechanics style ones and no one has to hold it.

Digital Camera – At least 8 meg, point and shoot, flash, and close-up (they are around $100, or less).  This camera has helped again and again with diagnosing and seeing problems.  Car-man can get it into places that his head can’t fit, snap the picture, load it onto the computer and magnify it BIG enough to see.

     So, yesterday I went to my girlfriend’s, Evelyn, for Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner was lovely and filled with family and friends, because she is such a good cook.  The turkey was  very moist, not dry, and the dressing was fabulous, along with a slamming macaroni and cheese.  Well, of course, I stuff my stomach too much and so I had to take a break from the turkey and dressing to save room for dessert.  I waited about one hour and I was back at the food table ready for my sugar rush.  When I first arrived my eyes had caught a glimpse of this yummy German Chocolate cake and now I was ready for a taste.  The cake was moist with a rich chocolate  flavor and creamy caramel coconut icing that was mouth-watering.  Let me just tell you that the cake was well worth the wait.

     I was walking back to my apartment from dinner and began thinking about some new designs that I wanted to start working on when I arrived home.   So, I arrive home and walk into the sewing room, I look at my sewing table and I see this clutch purse I just finished before dinner.  I stopped and just smile associating the chocolate purse with the chocolate cake.  I knew I should have taken a piece home with me!  Check out “Josette” and all of my latest designs at www.juliasherrydesigns.etsy.com.

CarMan was uber busy yesterday; he pulled the engine and started the adjustments for the hydraulic clutch installation. I stayed in and made cookies while he did all the work. Who knew you could pull an engine on your own? I kept waiting for the door to open and a call for work…

Getting the Pilot Bearing out was a huge problem until Car-Man checked YouTube. Thanks to everyone who posted those tips – the wet paper pulp worked amazingly! Gotta LOVE physics.

The new Pilot Bearing is in and it has a full suite of bearings; the movement on the clutch presser (not its real name) is smooth and easy, not at all like it was before.

Work today has stopped in favor of roasting a huge standing rib roast, it takes a lot of time and makes the house smell primal. Food, wine, and family – awesome at any time!

The Purse of the Week is from Lulu’s, a small site with great apparel and accessories.

After being rejected by the Knicks and no team seeming willing for his services this season, a report has surfaced that A.I. is callin’ it quits. Obviously, the news is spreading quickly and has touched the hip-hop community who view Bubba Chuck as one of their own. Damn shame. Hopefully this isn’t really the end.

Das Konzert war mega fein. Ich hab natürlich die typischen Folgen eines mega Konzerts: Tinnitus, Heiserkeit, Müdigkeit, T-Shirt,.. ja, ich bin sogar bescheuert mitgehüpft und hab dieses typische fanatische Verhalten aufgelegt, hat sich aber ausgezahlt. Mit Kamtchatka hat es begonnen, so ein richtig chilliger Blues Rock, mit einem Bier in der Hand, eine perfekte Mischung. Nach 4 Songs, es waren relativ lange Songs und dem Gastauftritt vom Clutch Drummer, es waren zwei Drummer beim letzten Song, sind die dann abgezogen. Kamtchatka ein Tipp für alle Liebhaber guter Musik, also für mich eine nette Entdeckung.
Nach einer Pause, bzw. dem typischen Aufbau, kam dann die nächste Bombe. Kylesa war echt hart. Hier auch wieder zwei Drummer. Bist du behindert, ich hab mich da nicht mehr zurückhalten können, ich hatte auch schon mein zweites Bier intus, und da hab ich dann spontan begonnen mitzubangen, musste von außerhalb sicher peinlich ausschauen, war mir aber egal.

Nach ungefähr einer Stunde hartem rocken, ich war schon ziemlich müde, ist dann endlich Clutch gekommen. Clutch war wie erwartet einfach unschlagbar. Neil Fallon predigte uns seine Lines, funky beats und harte Riffs unterstützten seine Peformance, und das Publikum rockte einfach mit. Die Show war so gut, dass ich hier dann fanatisch herumgesprungen bin und unter anderem mitgesungen hab: Anthrax, ham radio, and liquor!! Fuck. Ich bereue es nicht.

I attempted to fit a modified bracket to convert to a brake light switch that works on pedal movement instead of the hydraulic pressure as at present. I thought I had it all in and lined up OK before I realised I had put it onto the clutch pedal instead of the brake pedal. So now I’m going to have to go and get some sheet steel and make a new bracket that will reach across to the brake pedal. Oh well you can’t win them all. I should have mentioned that I fitted new ducting to the defroster vents from the heater box a couple of weeks ago. That is a big improvement over the old rotted or aluminium or just missing ones that were there previously.
