Before being involved with blogging, I was always deathly afraid of nut butters because of the calories and fat content. I was never really particular with my nut butters, I just get whatever was on sale. Usually, ONE jar of nut butter will last me a whole year and it expires on me before I would ever hit the bottom of the jar. Now, after seeing how all of you guys enjoy nut butters almost on a daily basis with a healthy and active lifestyle, I have fallen in love with nut butters all over again. Can’t imagine my life without it. Nut butters, especially peanut butter goes with everything. The healthy fats makes me fuller longer. There are so many different awesome dessert-like peanut butter on the market right now. P.B Loco has an wide selection of DELICIOUS and CREAMY peanut butters. So happy I got to try out 2 of their most popular flavors.

Coco Banana: Super creamy and easily spreadable. Love it to death. Both the banana and chocolate flavors were present and they complemented each other really well. Chocolate banana in a jar. Taste tested with a spoon and then made an Fitnestess’s famous oatmeal cookie with it and the results were AMAZING!! A wonderful chocolate banana oatmeal breakfast cookie which was super peanut buttery (I added some PB2 to it too). I just love this combination because whenever there is peanut butter, there is usually bananas so this peanut butter is just perfect for me. P.B Loco smoothie here I come!!

juice, salt, cocoa butter, modified food starch, natural flavor from color (from annatto), soy lecithin, pure vanilla.

White Chocolate Raspberry: OMG, this is a delicious dessert peanut butter. I am not usually a fan of white chocolate (I find it too sweet), but this tasted amazing. Perfect blend of white chocolate and raspberry flavor. In the morning, I like to spread this on my Kashi waffles with sliced bananas and at night, I like to spread some on my vitatops. Wicked combination!!

Nutritional Facts: Serving size 2 tbsp, servings per container: 14, Calories 190, Calories from fat 130, Total Fat: 14g , Saturated Fat: 4.5g, Trans Fat: 0g, Cholesterol: 0g, Sodium: 125 mg, Total Carbohydrates: 10 g, Dietary Fiber: 2 g, Sugars: 7g, Protein: 6 g, Vitamin A 0%, Vitamin C 0%, Calcium 2%, Iron 2% Ingredients: Peanuts, sugar, cocoa butter, palm oil (non-hydrogenated), whole milk, raspberries, raspberry juice concentrate, and less than 2 percent of organic evaporated cane juice, salt, lactose and whey (from milk), elderberry juice concentrate, modified food starch, soy lecithin, natural flavor, locust bean and/or guar gum (natural emulsifier), pure vanilla

I love the creamy and spreadable texture of P.B Loco. They offer amazing flavor that I want to try them all out. I call these my “dessert” peanut butters because they instantly turn all my foods into desserts. When you have a jar of P.B Loco in hand, you can turn anything that is lack luster and bland into delicious drool worthy food. Best of all, these do not need to be refrigerated, but also contains no hydrogenated oils. P.B Loco has the most interesting flavors in like PB with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, PB with Caramel Apple AND PB with Asian Curry Spices? I wonder what a curry pb would taste like.

to co? jestem WOLNA!!!
WOL-NA!!!!
(nananananananana)

DO YOU WANT TO GO SOMEWHERE??

(nie, nie, nie! – krzyczy wszystko w srodku – nie, nie, nie chce!!!! – jecza zwoje mozgowe. bo zwykle ciezko mi bardzo ruszyc sie z domu. znacie ten kawal o jaskrze analnej???? hahaha).

- a gdzie chcesz jechac, kochanie? – pytam z usmiechem

Hawaiian history isn’t really peppered with invasions, but that doesn’t mean one of her daughters isn’t capable of invading Beijing. Because that’s just what my college roommate and friend Emily did on rainy day earlier this month. Em and I have been super tight for years, but haven’t lived in the same city for over five years. You can imagine how elated I was when I found out she was offered a job in Beijing.

I let her catch up on some much needed jetlag napping and we met up with Jimmy that night for drinks, dinner and dancing. Drinks were at Bed Bar (see previous post), followed by dinner at Cafe Sambal. All the guidebooks and Beijing blogs gushed praise for this hutong — yes, I’m a hooker for hutong hangouts — Malaysian spot both for food and ambiance. It lacked in both categories. Maybe when it’s full of dewy-eyed lovebirds and exotic expats it’s better. But when we arrived, we were the only party in the whole place and it felt kind of cold. Not to mention that the dirty martini Emily ordered had lemon juice in it. She had to show the bartender how to make it not once, but twice! Normally, I would chalk this up to an East-meets-West lost-in-translation issue, but this is a place known for its mojitos — which weren’t great either, by the way — so Chinese-only bar knowledge isn’t an excuse. The food was good, but not mindblowing. At least the company was spectacular.

Afterward, we stopped at a wine bar where, again, we occupied the space solo. This time it was a lot more fun though as I let loose on the playerless instruments on stage and we convinced our waitress to be an impromptu language teacher. Oh, and there was cheese! No matter how blah a place is, if there’s good cheese there, it’s a winner in my book.

We ended the night at a Beijing megaclub called Coco Banana. High end clubbing in Beijing is like that in New York: all about bottles and models. But there’s one unique twist here in the East: the guys play dice. Yep, dice. In fact, dancefloors tend to be smaller here to make room for the booths of dice. Also, there’s a lot of emphasis on private rooms, where groups can get away from the masses and indulge in KTV (that’s a fancy name for karaoke).

We didn’t have dice or karaoke, but we had one thing that probably no one else did: a friend who’s the DJ’s tour manager. My good friend Mike from NYC (now based in Chicago) tour manages for Deep Dish, the high power, high energy duo of DJs Sharam and Dubfire. Sharam was in town that night, which meant I got to catch up with one of my favorite peeps. After Emily and Jimmy pooped out, I spent the night up in the booth with Mike and Sharam, sneaking away a few times to throw down hard on the dancefloor. Can’t wait until Mike comes back in just a week with Dubfire!
