Collagen as a protein present nearly 25 to 35 percent in the bodies of animals and mammals. People also find collagen in metazoa and sponges occured naturally. consumers will find that collagen is lying as endomysium component in the muscle tissues of the body. And collagen produces gelatin with the help of hydrolysis process which is used in the food industries. Consumers should know the benefits of collagen before opting it anywhere and everywhere.

Also collagen is a long fibrous structural proteins quite different from globular proteins such as enzymes. Collagen fibers is the main constituent of extracellular matrix supporting various tissues with the cell struture. consumers of collagen should know that it is present in the inner part of the body cells. It is also believed that collagen has great tensile strength especially in the fascia, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, bone and skin of the body. Consumers should know that collagen is a responsible for the emergence of soft keratin in the human body. collagen is valuable because of its elasticity and skin strength among its consumers in the market . When collagen level starts reducing in the body then it starts showing the symptoms of oldage.

Readers should know that collagen helps in the development of tissues and strengthening of blood vessels in the human body. Collagen present as crystalline in the cornea and lens of the eye.
Apriori Beauty™ Did You Know? “THE ULTIMATE 10 MINUTE FACE LIFT” So called “beauty gad

Apriori Beauty™ Did You Know? “THE ULTIMATE 10 MINUTE FACE LIFT”

So called “beauty gadgets” are earning a popular place in the cosmetics industry. Why? Because they work! Here we breakdown the benefits of four different technologies on the market – ultrasound wave, vibration, FIR, and galvanic ion technology – to help you understand what they do!

Ultrasound Wave Therapy | Ultrasound wave technology uses sound waves that are greater than the upper limit of human hearing. These waves generate approximately 5 million vibrations per second and generate heat that raises the skin temperature by 0.5 – 1.0°C, benefiting skin in the following ways:

Pores are opened, allowing for the removal of impurities

Vibrations activate skin healing mechanisms and push nutrients deep into the skin

Elastin and collagen production increase, reducing the appearance of lines/wrinkles

Blood and lymph circulation increase

Skin cell turnover increases as ultrasonic waves aid in dead cell removal

Cell metabolism increases, resulting in a reduction of facial fat

Vibration Therapy | Vibration technology functions to both relax facial muscles and activate your skin cells’ natural healing properties to promote skin recovery. Elasticity increases, rendering the skin more youthful and luminous. Vibration technology also functions to push the Nutrient Reservoir™ into the deepest layer of the skin where it can help repair and protect the life of every skin cell. Benefits include:

Skin and facial muscles are relaxed and rejuvenated

Elastin & Collagen are strengthened

Nutrients are transported deep into the skin

Far Infrared (FIR) Therapy | Infrared light is a type of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the sun whose wavelength falls out of the visible range. Despite the fact that we cannot see far infrared radiation, it is perceived by thermoreceptors in the skin as heat. FIR has the following benefits:

Skin is warmed, unclogging pores and expanding capillaries

Blood flow increases, helping eliminate toxins associated with aging and fatigue

Mitochondrial stimulation results in increased enzyme activity and metabolism

Promotes the breakdown of cellulite, fat, trapped water, and wastes

Promotes the regeneration of skin tissue

Increases oxygen and nutrient delivery to cells resulting in increased skin vitality

Galvanic Ion Therapy | When accompanied by an appropriate conducting agent (such as the Celloxylin™ Precision Skin Rejuvenator), galvanic ion therapy works by supplying a current of positive and negative ions through the skin. Positive ions cleanse pores by clinging to dirt, oils, and makeup and extracting these impurities. Negative ions increase the skin’s ability to absorb nutrients from treatment products by pushing them into deeper layers of the skin. The results:

Energy from galvanic ion exchange attacks bacteria and promotes skin cell regeneration

Impurities are extracted resulting in cleaner pores

Beneficial nutrients are transported deep into the skin

Skin is more hydrated, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is reduced

Here is a link to an overview of Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) that I threw together. Some of the scientific data available can be pretty challenging to sift through, so I thought this “more brief” summary would help some people looking for this information. Did I mention Vitamin C is awesome like you wouldn’t believe? IT IS! And here’s proof!

http://www.scribd.com/doc/24244151/Seekall-Vitamins-Ascorbic-Acid-Vitamin-C-Rev-A

Here are some of the more interesting “take-aways” from the summary:

Death due to cardiovascular disease is inversely related to regular use of vitamin C supplements.

Cancer incidence and deaths appear inversely related to regular use of vitamin C supplements.

Diabetes mellitus was further shown to be associated with reduced plasma levels of ascorbic acid.

Ascorbic acid is the cell’s universal reducing agent / effective antioxidant.

Humans do NOT synthesize their own Vitamin C – it MUST be supplemented in some form

Black currant, brussels sprouts, kale, parsley, rose hips, and peppers are some of the highest Vitamin C foods readily available.

Newborn animals die quickly when the standard ascorbic acid processes are interfered with…

Many hormones / related processes are dependent on ascorbic acid

Helps maintain good LDL cholesterol levels

[Ascorbic acid deficiency induced] oxidative damage to DNA increases the risk of mutations, and in turn, is a risk factor in cancer or birth defects

Help[s] combat viral activity

Enhances collagen & elastin assembly [collagen – the MAIN connective tissue in mammals]

The current vitamin C recommendation for smokers is about 40% greater than that for nonsmokers.

Vitamin C is an effective antihistamine and lessens respiratory infection symptoms.

Vitamin C intake is positively associated with bone mineral density.

So go get your Vitamin C already! I’ll have a future post about my use of it and some recommended doses. Stay tuned!

SK-II believes that beneath the wrinkles and sags of skin plagued by signs of ageing lies the potent

SK-II believes that beneath the wrinkles and sags of skin plagued by signs of ageing lies the potential to revert back to youthful skin.

Scientists at SK-II have designed the Skin Signature Series, a treatment and beauty plan which gently coaxes the skin into releasing anti-oxidants to combat ageing.

To develop the range, SK-II worked with a leading Japanese dermatologist, Dr Shuhei Imayama and Professor Osamu Kuwazuru from the Nuclear Power and Energy Safety Engineering department of the University of Fukui in Japan.

During the study, SK-II observed that with age, Skin Power (what SK-II calls our skin’s ability to naturally repair itself ) declines. Skin power is determined by tolerance power (that protects the skin from stress such as hormonal imbalance, UV exposure and air pollutants) and rebirth (regeneration) power.

“ Skin with strong tolerance power helps fuel skin’s rebirth power and in turn, skin with active rebirth power helps maintain tolerance power. This cycle helps skin sustain its beauty. ”

“ As you age, each layer of skin undergoes different changes. While these may not seem prominent at the start, as the changes accumulate and reach a certain critical point, the different skin layers start to collapse and buckle, causing a variety of aging signs to become more obvious. ” said Dr Imayama.

SK-II had developed a new clinical measurement tool to evaluate ones Skin Power ( radiance, smoothness, and firmness ) and did a joint study to record women Skin Power; The study shows that the skin tipping point is somewhere between the ages of 30-40.

To combat ageing stress, SK-II identified Anti-Oxidant Response Element, or ARE – essential “triggers” that activate the production of antioxidants in the skin. ARE, unfortunately, also diminishes with age.

“ ARE is the ‘control tower’ in skin. When skin is exposed to stress, ARE is activated. It sends a signal to skin to produce stress resistant substances to protect your skin. ”

“ When ARE is activated, the skin’s tolerance power and regeneration power increase. Skin Power also increases and skin is more able to withstand stress. ”

The very solution to this conundrum lies in Oli-Vityl – A new ingredient derived from an olive species that thrives in Tucany, Italy – to set ARE into overdrive.

This luxurious cream enhances skin’s firmness and elasticity and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in a complexion that’s smooth, soft and radiantly luminous.

Clinically proven to make you look up to four years younger in just one month!

This moisturising cream targets external stresses & strengthens Skin Power* with its unique ingredients like Vitamin B3, Pitera and Oli-Vityl

“ We found that Oli-Vityl, an ingredient derived from an olive species in Tuscany, Italy, can activate ARE and skin’s boost tolerance power. Oli-Vityl is also a great partner for pitera ( derived from yeast fermentation ), a signature ingredient in SK-II products. Oli-Vityl promotes skin structural materials such as collagen and hyaluronan and also helps skin’s tolerance power. ”

“ Oli-Vityl, when paired up with Pitera and Signaline ( derived from olive oil and then blended with jojoba oil ), promotes skin structural material synthesis. We see further skin rebirth power. We’re calling this our new anti-ageing cocktail. ”

It could be used day & night.

I loves this cream.

Despite its inherent richness & nourishing moisturisers, it feels light & refreshing upon application, and leaves an non occlusive, non greasy finish.

This cream is only faintly scented.

I woke up with a firmer, more radiant complexion whenever i used it as an overnight treatment.

The down side is the lack of SPF.

I would recommend this cream to anyone who would like to enhance their skin vitality. It’s not a miracle, but it works ( as least for me ); definitely deserve a place in londonprettyboy’s Hall of Fame.

Beautiful ladies of the world, all your dreams have come true with one product: the Twin Elenizer PRO!

The name is a mouthful, but the gadget gets to the source of your skin worries. Just press it against your face and – through the power of ions and ultra-sound waves – your skin will turn pearly smooth.

Priced at $250, the Twin Elenizer is one of Rakuten’s top-selling items. I found it while searching for Japanese skin creams. Lately, I’ve been a little worried because the sun spots I developed over the summer haven’t gone away. And I swear my cheeks are giving way to gravity. Age has something to do with it. So now I’m on a mission to restore my once blemish-free skin.

According to the site, ion-fused pulses help restore the skin’s elasticity and cleans out dirty pores. The ultra-sound waves make it easier (140 times more effective, to be exact) for skin to absorb all the expensive creams you put on your face. The gadget comes with bottles of collagen and vitamin C to get you started.

So does it really work? I don’t know. Japanese companies come out with extraordinary products like this all the time. Some end up thrown in the ‘fad’ bin, while others stand the test of time.

Maybe after my next paycheck I’ll place an order. If anyone beats me to it, email me your thoughts!

We love ourselves some spa and beautifying products. Which made us extra excited when Elizabeth Grant sent us some of the more popular items to test out. We started our review process with the Collagen Face Pad.

Elizabeth Grant’s Collagen Face Pads are an intensive collagen treatment to smooth and firm the appearance of the face. While you may look like a mummy during the treatment (and the process of applying the pad is a tad messy), it’s worth it as your skin will feel hydrated and smooth after the twenty minute process.

As you may know, collagen is a great ingredient to rejuvinate your skin and who couldn’t use that every now and then?

Four of the collagen face pads retail for around $70 so while they are on the pricier side, when you’re looking to indulge these can be a great way to do a DIY sort of facial for much less than you’d pay for in a spa.

By Debbie Dixie C. Duraliza, B.S.N., R.N. (The Freeman) Updated November 30, 2009 12:00 AM

CEBU, Philippines – Green tea, that is. And it’s true. There is a whole treasure trove of health benefits in this little green leaf.

Ancient Chinese people knew the benefits of green tea for health. They have always used it for medical purposes. In Ancient China, it was used especially against headaches and depression.

What’s in a tea leaf

Fresh-cut tea leaves consist of 75 to 80 percent water. A variety of green tea flavors are formed through the combination of three main components which are responsible for its taste: Catechin for bitterness and astringency; Caffeine for bitterness; Theanine and Amino Acids for its flavor and sweetness. The green tea leaf also contain Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C, E, trace minerals, pectin and saccharides.

Catechin is a tannin peculiar to green tea because the black tea fermentation process reduces catechins in black tea. Catechin is a powerful, water soluable polyphenol and antioxidant that is easily oxidized. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the most powerful of these catechins. EGCG as an antioxidant is about 25 to 100 times more potent than vitamins C and E.

Because green tea leaves are young and have not been oxidized, green tea has up to a 40 percent polyphenols content, while black tea contains only about 10 percent. One cup of green tea provides 10-40 mg of polyphenols and has antioxidant effects greater than a serving of broccoli, spinach, carrots, or strawberries.

Do you know that green tea can ward off diseases? The catechin in green tea prevents viruses from adhering and causing harm. Catechin reacts with toxins created by harmful bacteria (many of which belong to the protein family) and harmful metals such as lead, mercury, chrome, and cadmium.

Caffeine. A cup of green tea contains about 15 to 30 mg of caffeine, a stimulant affecting the central nervous system. It is an important quality in green tea providing some of its astringency.

If you have a hangover, try drinking green tea. Japanese people have been drinking green tea for centuries to soothe hangovers. This is because the caffeine in green tea encourages metabolization of alcohol. Caffeine is considered a good remedy for hangovers because caffeine blocks absorption of alcohol and enhances its metabolization. It has a diuretic effect (you urinate more), which encourages detoxification and the discharge of toxins from the body.

Green tea only has one-third the caffeine of black tea but it’s been shown to yield the same level of energy and attentiveness. Just don’t drink milk with it. Making your tea English just won’t do since the casein in milk has been shown to inhibit the beneficial effects of tea.

Theanine sedates and relaxes by suppressing the stimulant function of caffeine. Theanine also helps to protect nerve cells in the brain, lengthening the life of these cells. It is linked to increased alpha brain wave production and is considered a natural antidepressant and stress reliever. Japanese studies link consumption of L-theanine with strengthening the immune system.

Drink to shrink the waist

Here’s a tip for the gym bunnies: Throw your energy drinks into the trash bin. Green tea packs a more powerful punch in losing those unwanted pounds. Research shows that sipping several cups of green tea daily can do wonders for the waist.

In a study, overweight adults who engaged in an exercise program for 12 weeks lost more belly fat if they also drank green tea daily. The green tea seemed to boost overall weight loss in the study group, too. Researchers think that catechins in green tea might blast tummy fat by acting on enzymes that influence the body’s calorie – and fat – burning mechanisms. And catechins and caffeine together may boost the body’s metabolism.

The amount of green tea needed for the effect? Enough to get about 625 milligrams of catechins plus a little caffeine every day, roughly seven cups daily. So ditch your energy drinks and fill your thermal mugs with the bitter fat-busting brew.

Green knees

Green tea drinkers have youthful knees. Potent compounds in green tea — EGCG and ECG — have been shown to help battle cartilage and collagen destruction in arthritic joints.

The EGCG and ECG found in green tea helps fight inflammation, as well as some of the underlying mechanisms at work in both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Of course, drinking a few cups of green tea each day is no guarantee against knee pain, so if you have them, it’s still best to consult your doctor.

Hearty drink

Here’s to your heart. If those previous healthy benefits aren’t enough, here’s a kicker for your ticker. Studies have also shown that the polyphenols in green tea destroy free radicals and improve artery function.. Drinking about half a liter a day can cut the risk of death due to cardiovascular disease by 26 percent. And the more green tea people drank, the more protection they got. Although both men and women were shielded, the benefits were more pronounced in women. Yey, snaps for women!

Not just in the crystal ball

Wondering what the future holds? Professor Trelawney taught Harry Potter and the students of Hogwarts how to read tea leaves. Well, tea leaves at the bottom of your cup really can reveal your future, and they are more dependable than some wispy fortune-tellers.

Drain several cups of green tea until you see the tea leaves settle at the bottom. If you do that everyday, you’d be sure to have a long bright future ahead. No need to consult your crystal ball. All signs point to long-term benefits for your ticker. Research shows that just two 8-ounce servings a day of polyphenol-rich green tea can dramatically reduce the risk of dying from heart disease and can cut the risk of stroke in women as well.

If you don’t fancy the bitter brew that much, don’t despair. Drinking at least half a cup (4 ounces) a day was still linked to some reduction in mortality risk.

So grab a teacup and point that little pinkie. Here’s to a healthy future. Cheers!

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin. Unlike most mammals and other animals, humans do not have the ability to make their own vitamin C. Therefore, we must obtain vitamin C through our diet. Since it is water soluble and quickly secreted through the urine, vitamin C supplements are more effective if divided into a minimum of twice daily. Dividing the dosages into 4-6 hour increments is even better.

Vitamin C is required for the synthesis of collagen, an important structural component of blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, and bone. Vitamin C also plays an important role in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter, norepinephrine. Neurotransmitters are critical to brain function and are known to affect mood. Research also suggests that vitamin C is involved in the metabolism of cholesterol to bile acids (components of bile, which are formed by the metabolism of cholesterol, and aid in the digestion of fats), which may have implications for blood cholesterol levels and the incidence of gallstones.

Severe vitamin C deficiency has been known for many centuries as the potentially fatal disease, scurvy. Symptoms of scurvy include bleeding and bruising easily, hair and tooth loss, and joint pain and swelling.
Ascorbate and vitamin C metabolites

One supplement, Ester-C® contains mainly calcium ascorbate, but also contains small amounts of the vitamin C metabolites dehydroascorbate (oxidized ascorbic acid), calcium threonate, and trace levels of xylonate and lyxonate). Don’t try to remember these. Although the metabolites are supposed to increase the bioavailability of vitamin C, the only published study in humans addressing this issue found no difference between Ester-C® and commercially available ascorbic acid tablets with respect to the absorption and urinary excretion of vitamin C. Ester-C® should not be confused with ascorbyl palmitate, which is also marketed as "vitamin C ester."

Ascorbyl palmitate is actually a vitamin C ester (i.e., vitamin C that has been esterified to a fatty acid). In this case, vitamin C is esterified to the saturated fatty acid, palmitic acid, resulting in a fat-soluble form of vitamin C. Ascorbyl palmitate has been added to a number of skin creams due to interest in its antioxidant properties as well as its importance in collagen synthesis. Although ascorbyl palmitate is also available as an oral supplement, it is likely that most of it is hydrolyzed (broken apart) to ascorbic acid and palmitic acid in the digestive tract before it is absorbed. Ascorbyl palmitate is also marketed as "vitamin C ester," which should not be confused with Ester-C® (see above).

Hot heels

Forget stocking fillers this year, apparently women are asking for ‘feet fillers’ to combat sore tootsies! Collagen fillers are being used as a solution to sore party feet just in time for the Christmas season.

According to reports, doctors have suggested that collagen feet fillers has increased five-fold this year.

The surgery costs around £240 for each foot to be injected with protein. The effects last between two to three months.

Cosmetics surgeons have reported a growth in numbers of ladies looking to avoid sore feet in the run up to Christmas.

Dr Nick Milojevic, of the Harley Medical Group, said: “Patients commonly have pre-Christmas fillers and treatments in the run-up to Christmas, to get them camera-ready for the festive season.

But this year we have received increased enquiries for foot fillers to pad out the ball of the foot to reduce the pain caused by more vertiginous heels.” (Clearly the economic climate hasn’t had an effect on certain folk…)

The ball of the foot is injected with collagen, which is a natural protein found in the skin. This breaks down over a period of time – varying from each person – and it can be replenished with fillers. (Like the procedure Gordon Ramsey had).

According to medical advice, it doesn’t need to be removed or altered once it has been injected and the side effects generally last less than 48 hours.

Are they worth it?

Harley Medical Group, director, Liz Dale said: “Foot fillers have been popular in America, but are only just taking off here, as women realise that non-surgical treatments can help them with more than just their appearance.”

“The injections are integral padding and last just the right amount of time for the party season. Though there’s nothing to stop women having top-ups to keep the comfort going,” she added.

Would you consider having feet fillers for a more comfortable experience when wearing high heels? I think although I’d be more happy wearing ballet pumps and Uggs than shoving needles into my feet, followed by some protein – I can see why some people would go down this route…but is it all too much?

So, what are you thinking of having for dessert today? Pineapple? Well, if you are, then you may want to hold back before chomping on that chunk of that evil fruit and know what it’s really planning to do, dissolve you (albeit very slowly, and possibly unsuccessfully)

Ever cooked meat before, say, a steak? You will know that if it hasn’t been tenderised, then you’d probably end up chewing it for several decades before it would have any value beyond being a chewy dog bone thingy. So what’s the culprit for this inedible mess? Collagen.

Meat, like almost all animal tissue contains collagen. Sure you’ve heard of “collagen” from one of those skin care adverts, but it provides a much more useful property in our tissues, basically, it holds everything together, providing us with a sturdy support for our internals, but more annoyingly, making our steak incredibly tough. To counteract this, we need something which can break up this collagen, and cue our friend (and enemy somewhat), the pineapple.

Pineapple contains an enzyme called Bromelain, which is what makes it so evil. This protein breaks down organic matter like there’s no tomorrow, and is the active ingredient in meat tenderiser. If I had to get all “sciency”, the bromelain breaks the peptide bonds which hold the amino acids in the proteins together, making the meat softer and actually edible.

But what would this evil enzyme do to us, after all, we do eat pineapples don’t we? Well, this corrosive enzyme will break down the collagen which hold your tongue together as well as breaking down the proteins in your innards. This is what causes that tingly sensation when you eat pineapple. There are also reports of workers sustaining great damage to their hands due to this corrosive enzyme after years of harvesting pineapples, great for erasing fingerprints I guess.

We do have a defence to this killer protein though; the fact that we are alive. Any damage caused by this protein would be repaired by the body eventually, and any bromelain left over will be metabolised by the body before it causes too much damage. So it looks like pineapples aren’t really going to take over the world; for now. Cue the scary music.

Pineapple sourced from: http://seshdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/pineapple.jpg

I drink it everyday — for skin, immunity, blood sugar, digestion and to better absorb the nutr

I drink it everyday — for skin, immunity, blood sugar, digestion and to better absorb the nutrients from my food and other supplements. When you drink Aloe Vera — be sure it is of the highest quality.

1 Dental Health and Hygiene

Aloe Vera is extremely healthful for your mouth and gums.

2 Promotes Healing From The Inside

Aloe Vera enhances fibroblast function. Fibroblasts are those remarkable little cells responsible for collagen formation. They also assist in the soothing of minor burns, cuts, scrapes and skin irritations.

3 Aids in Healthy Digestion

A healthy digestive tract ensures that nutrients from the foods we eat are absorbed into the blood stream. Aloe Vera has natural, detoxifying abilities. Drinking Aloe Vera Gel regularly may improve bowel regularity and increase protein absorption, while at the same time decrease unfriendly bacteria and yeast ~ all done naturally! Aloe Vera has also demonstrated its ability to assist in soothing heartburn and other types of digestive upset.

4 Immune Support and Function

Aloe Vera provides natural support for the immune system. Since the immune system works around the clock protecting the body, aloe vera, with its natural immune enhancers, gives the body a continual arsenal from which to draw. Drinking 2 to 4 ounces of Aloe Vera Gel regularly may give your immune system the helping hand it needs

5 Regulates Weight and Energy Levels

Aloe Vera Gel naturally, and with regular use, allows the body to cleanse the digestive system. Our diets include many unwanted substances which can cause lethargy and exhaustion. Taken regularly, Aloe Vera Gel ensures a greater feeling of well-being, allowing energy levels to increase and helping to maintain a healthy body weight.

6 Collagen and Elastin Repair

Aloe Vera can add a rich supply of building materials to produce and maintain healthy skin. The skin replenishes itself every 21 to 28 days. Using the nutritional building blocks of aloe vera, the skin can utilize these nutrients daily to help combat the effects of aging! A daily dose of Aloe Vera Gel can be just what your skin is thirsting for.

7 Daily Dose of Minerals

Some of the minerals found in aloe vera include calcium, sodium, iron, potassium, chromium, magnesium, manganese, copper, and zinc. What a powerful storehouse! We all know that adding foods to our diets with naturally occurring vitamins and minerals is recommended for overall health. Drinking Aloe Vera Gel is a natural and healthful way to replenish the body’s supply.

8 Daily Dose of Vitamins

Aloe Vera Gel includes Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C and E, Folic Acid and Niacin. The human body simply cannot store some of these vitamins; therefore we need to supplement them regularly through our diets. What better way than by drinking a daily dose of Aloe Vera Gel, while at the same time building the body’s defense system naturally against oxidative stress!

9 Anti-inflammatory Properties

Aloe Vera Gel has 12 natural substances that have been shown to inhibit inflammation without side effects. Aloe may also support proper joint and muscle mobility.

10 Body-Building Blocks

Amino acids are our body building blocks. Eight which are essential and cannot be made by the body are found within the aloe plant! Drinking Aloe Vera on a regular basis allows you to help maintain your health by replenishing your body naturally with these essential amino acids. An analysis of the aloe vera plant shows that it comes closer than any other known plant to the duplication of essential amino acids.

Just think, all this, and in just 2 to 4 ounces a day.

It’s getting cold outside. The perfect time for hot coco and roasted marshmallows. But be careful what you might be roasting…

We should actually start a list of things beautyproduct-developers come up with. It gets crazier every day…Eating-yourself-beautiful-food-and-drinks are not new. Especially with ingredients like anti-oxidants and all. That’s all natural, and even looks healthy most of the time. But now this: ‘collagen marshmallows‘??? Marshmallow is candy, not so healthy in my opinion, and now they have added collagen peptide for a younger looking skin. OMG, what’s wrong with the world?

Okay, it’s a fun and tasty way to help yourself getting a wrinkle-free skin. Rather marshmallows than botox I guess! And it only costs £3,85 at Harvey Nichols.

I have to admit, I am a fan of certain laser treatments as a method of treating moderate to severe s

I have to admit, I am a fan of certain laser treatments as a method of treating moderate to severe skin conditions. However, I discovered the damage that could be done to your skin from Fraction Laser (Fraxel), and I realized how potentially contradictory a laser could be.

Think about this – Fraxel uses a hot beam, inflicting a thermal injury, which destroys the stem cells, fuses the capillaries and tissue beneath the skin, and inhibits stimulation for creating new blood vessels. Fraxel creates an upholstering effect giving the illusion of firm, youthful skin and diminished wrinkles.

But in fact, you are suppressing blood flow and stopping the release of growth factors to the blood platelets. You may not know that growth factors are vital to creating new, YOUNGER tissue.

Are you really reversing your signs of aging or are you only temporarily masking it? You be the judge.

Ahhh…How relieving.. There is an advancement in skincare that you don’t typically see at your local medical spa!

Developed by a German scientist in 2001, Dermaroller, is a non-ablative, mesotherapeutic, sterile needling device is used to treat skin conditions such as acne scarring, wrinkles, large pores, hyper-pigmentation, stretch marks, cellulite, hair loss, etc. Dermaroller preserves the top layers of the skin while inducing the body to create collagen and elastin.

For thousands of years, the Far East has used needling devices for therapeutic purposes. So it came as no surprise that the Dermaroller was first introduced to Asian cultures to begin testing. The results are phenomenal. Dermaroller may be a new concept to the USA, but backed with years of research around the globe.

The procedure:

This is a medical procedure that can be performed by trained and licensed skin care professionals. They require medical knowledge that MUST to be performed in a clinical environment.

The area you wish to treat calls for numbing with a medical grade numbing cream for approx. 20 minutes. At that time you can rest and unwind, as the tranquil sounds of instrumentals and nature take you into a deep state of relaxation.

After the removal of the numbing cream is complete, we use a drum shaped roller with 192 fine micro needles, across the area you are treating, repeatedly in multiple directions.

There is little downtime after Dermaroller therapy, you may have a slight redness like a sunburn, which could last from a few hours to a couple of days.

Results: They are what we all want, aren’t they?

Although puncturing the skin may seem a bit discouraging, GOOD things do start to happen. I’m going to get a little technical but here it goes..

Various growth factors are released plus new tissue structures are generated, in the form of COLLAGEN AND ELASTIN fibers and CAPILLARIES. NEW FIBROBLASTS and NEW CAPILLARIES are created and migrate, providing better blood supply that carries oxygen and nutrition to the skin.

Six weeks after microneedling, a second biopsy from the forehead was taken. A dramatic increase of new collagen- and elastin fibers are clearly visible (stained violet). They reach into a depth of 0.6 mm. The increase of new fibers can reach 1000% with 1 procedure.

Your skin cannot be repaired over night, so I stress the phrase, “patience is a virtue”. It takes time to transform and you can expect results objectively after 6 to 8 weeks.

Facts After Several Sessions:
1) Significant improvement of fine lines, wrinkles, and texture
2) Skin is fresher, smoother, and more juvenile
3) Scars, acne scarring, and stretch marks can be drastically reduced
4) Pigmentation spots can become more even
5) Increased epidermal thickness
6) Decrease in pore skin and overproduction of sebum and melanin
7) Preservation of the epidermis during treatment, and no permanent damage to the skin

Over 10,000 acne scar treatments have been performed in within the past 3 years with Dermaroller. Acne scars have been found to respond the most positively to Dermarolling.

Depending on the area and the severity of the scars, several treatments may be needed to achieve the best result. The results vary from 30 to 70% improvement.

The best visible results are achieved with Dermaroller on wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet) and on the upper lip – areas where visible skin aging begins. The earlier and more often these kinds of wrinkles are treated with the Dermaroller, the better and more lasting are the results.

In conclusion, through research and various trials we have conducted, we have found the Dermaroller to actually be as effective as it claims to be. I tested the Dermaroller on a my own scar and I have noticed a visible change in the pigment of the scar and the texture is much smoother.
