Another Gaga digression, Woohoo ! (XD)

Well, I just got my copy of « The Fame Monster » this week (I’ve become Gaga obsessed… I tried to resist, but ‘Bad Romance’ ’s release got me for good. I’m a real Gaga fan now ;__; XD). If you followed this PCD blog a little you might have realized I kind of always liked Gaga’s songs yet I wasn’t totally getting into her (erm -.-;). But really, when I saw « Bad Romance »’s video last month… I was like « WOW ! O.O » I loved every single second of it, the video, the outfits, the music, the song… It’s just perfect ! It’s definitely my fav single from Gaga.

Anyway, if I’m writing this little post, that’s actually to share the HQ scans of « The Fame Monster » I did. I know, there’s like tons of people that already did, but I don‘t care. XD And these are REAL huge. Because I like to make huge scans of things I like. XD

So, here they are ! (ah, and I got the normal edition cause I preferred that photo to the other. And anyway, the second pic is on the back of the cd.)

NY Times Energy and Enviroment

California approved a utility contract with Solaren for the nation’s first space-based solar power plant last Thursday. The project is slated to be turned on in 2016.

“At the conceptual level, the advantages of space-based systems are significant,” said Michael Peevey, president of the California Public Utilities Commission, during a hearing on Thursday. “This technology would offer around-the-clock access to clean renewable energy, and while there’s no doubt this project has many hurdles to overcome, both regulatory and technological, it’s hard to argue with the audacity of the project.”

The plan is to deploy an inflatable Mylar mirror one kilometer in diameter which will collect and concentrate sunlight on a smaller mirror. The mirror will, in turn will focus the rays on photovoltaic modules. The modules will convert the collected energy into radio frequency waves, which would be beamed to a station on the ground. Here the process would be reversed, transforming radio waves back into electricity.

The developers acknowledge that putting a solar power plant in space will cost a few billion dollars more than an earth based photovoltaic farm generating the equivalent amount of electricity.

Some of these vintage-esque cards issued in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s are impressive. The 2002 Flair set qualifies!!!

This card is so much better looking in person than in the below scan. The cardstock is thick, and the glossy finish is perfect.

I love what the photographer has captured for us here – Andre is watching the ball he just crushed!!! As he is getting ready to drop his bat and sprint towards first base, I have to wonder if he reached base safely on this play. Something tells me that the answer is a resounding – YES!!!

Based on an add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, Project Natal enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural User Interface using gestures, spoken commands or presented objects or images. The project is aimed at broadening the Xbox 360’s audience beyond its typically hardcore base.Project Natal was first announced on June 1, 2009 at E3 2009. Microsoft said that over a thousand software development kit began shipping to game developers that same day.

Though Microsoft has not officially announced any price or release date projections for Project Natal, it is expected to be released in late 2010.Project Natal will reportedly also serve as the basis for a “new” Xbox 360.

Rendering Ranger: R2 is a 1995 Super Famicom side scrolling action Game that is gun-oriented. A high score screen is present and there are many different types of laser guns to acquire throughout the post-apocalyptic adventure. The player can choose from 3 to 7 lives. However, there are no continues so practice is essential to winning the game. The player can take 5 hits before losing a life but pits automatically make him lose a life. Weapons are found in floating orb, and each color holds a different kind of gun.

The game was developed by Manfred Trenz, creator of the Turrican series. This game was only released in Japan, but almost everything is in English. According to an interview with Trenz, he stated that the game was originally named as Targa and it featured hand drawn graphics, and later it was changed to pre-rendered graphics following the success of Donkey Kong Country, hence the name change. By the time the game was finally finished, the only company interested in publishing it was the Japanese branch of Virgin Interactive.

The game is extremely rare as only 10,000 cartridges were produced. Collectors can expect to pay well over 500 dollars for a copy.

I found this set of images on GIZMOD with a life sized Indiana Jones and a Strom Trooper… and was amazed at the details that were accomplished with using Legos. I also thought it would be in good taste if this week’s post was another life sized C-3PO, in relation to last week’s post. SO here is the image gallery below, click on the image for the full version… and if you would like to see the Gizmod version click here!

I tortured myself last night by going through a bunch of photos from the Michael Jackson memorial. I

I tortured myself last night by going through a bunch of photos from the Michael Jackson memorial. I don’t know why I did it, but it’s not the first time. I did the same thing back a week ago and cried about 5 min before I left for work. But I saw some fans that I know in a photo of the memorial, and the looks on their faces just made me feel it all over again. And usually when this happens, I quickly find something else to do — but this time I just allowed myself to cry… really, really cry.

Does anyone else feel this? I like this blog because I can air the way I feel without having to worry about what others might think. Those who have not been friends with me forever or who’ve not understood my experiences may not ever get it, but those who have, get it.. or at least try to without judgment. Does anyone else get it? I know lots of fans are still in pain, but… I dunno, I guess we always feel like our own pain is deeper than anyone elses… maybe it is, it’s our own after all.

I’m still adding to my collection. Today I put ”Michael Jackson Treasures“ and ”Before He Was King“ on lay-buy since I didnt have the money out right to get it. I am thinking of getting another one for laybuy tomorrow because I’d like to have two. I’m greedy like that.

I have started to gather all my photos again for an album that I am making up. If anyone is interested in them, let me know.

If I can help anyone with any photos, let me know… I have collected so many over the years as well as the ones I’ve acquired recently. I want to collect as many ’sets’ as possible and put them in to a big huge album. I love photos of Michael – he was so lovely to look at – I know many disagreed with me, but that’s because they never bothered to ‘know’ him like we, the fans ‘knew’ him. He was stunning in every single which way, and no one can ever tell me otherwise.

I miss him so much. I go to bed every night thinking, wishing, dreaming… and I wake up and reality is still here but Michael is not… It just doesn’t really seem fair, does it? Each time I go to see This Is It, it gets more and more depressing. I’ve decided I won’t see it again. Every time I watch it it becomes a little bit more real.

Anyway, here is also my T Shirt collection… I was gonna post this awhile ago, but I never got around to it… but here it is.

And I guess that’s it for now… I miss you Michael.

Andre Dawson 2007 Sweet Spot Classic Memorabilia Card

I’d been wanting to add another Game Used Andre Dawson card to my collection for a few weeks now. And with the baseball cad show at the Coral Square mall yielding nothing to satisfy me, I immediately ran to Ebay when I got home to see what was available.

I found this card and was immediately drawn to it. This is my first Game-used card of ‘The Hawk’ featuring a color that is not White, Expos Blue, or Cubbie Blue!!!

Check it out…

And as always, when I get a new card that meets the necessary requirements for entry, it gets added to my ‘Ultimate Dawson’ page.

Charles will once again be offering collectors and fans of his illustration work a Christmas holiday

Charles will once again be offering collectors and fans of his illustration work a Christmas holiday special. This year, the special will include a free print of your choice. In addition, the artist will include a free limited edition pastel print of the Joseph Horne Co. Christmas tree. The lighting of the Horne’s Christmas tree has been a long-standing family tradition in the city of Pittsburgh.

The Joseph Horne Co., often referred to simply as Horne’s by Pittsburghers was an iconic regional department store located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was one of the oldest department stores in the country after being founded by Joseph Horne (1826-1891) in 1849. The department store chain operated for nearly 145 years until it ceased operation in 1994 after it merged with Lazarus, a division of the Federated Dept. Stores, Inc.

Joseph Horne was born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He moved to Pittsburgh where landed his first job in the retail trade with Christian Yeager. At age of 23, he bought F.H. Eaton store and eventually renamed it the Joseph Horne Co. It became the leading department store in Pittsburgh, along with Kaufmann’s lasting for generations. In 1879, a new central location was built at the corner of Penn Avenue and Stanwix Street. The building was a 7-story landmark and the first department store in the city’s downtown district. The annual lighting of the Horne’s Christmas Tree at their flagship store was a long held family Christmas tradition. The Christmas tree display was six stories high and erected on the building’s corner. Although the store ceased operation, it remains a tradition with Pittsburgh’s annual Light-Up Night festivities. Crowds would also gather during the Christmas season to view the Christmas display windows, which often were very elaborate and included animated moving characters.

Charles thanks the many people from around the world who have visited his website at http://www.steelcityartist.com and continue to be wondered by the artist’s incredible artwork. Charles would like to wish you and your family the blessings for a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday.

Marion Koogler McNay Art Museum is an excellent museum and a real gem in San Antonio. The art collection is outstanding and the grounds are very beautiful. Unlike a lot of other museums it is a perfect size – I got through the collection in about an hour and a half and the whole grounds in two. This museum is known as the first modern art museum in Texas. Founded by Marion K. McNay, an heiress, collector, artist, and patron in so many ways, I not only love the museum itself but also the story of its founder. San Antonio is second largest city in the united states of Texas and most popular for its sightseeing, attractions, destinations, nightlife, and accommodation listing like cheap hotels. There is a lot to do in this city include fine art museums, historical missions and plenty of amusement parks in addition to great dining, drinking and hotels in san antonio.

I came up with this idea a while ago and you can see the preliminary research to it on my other blog http://rufus.thomhumphris.com

I basically find myself adrift when it comes to documenting things. I have roughly around 75 or so notebooks/sketchbooks/diary’s all of which I get bored with or forget about. Not because I cant be bothered. More so that I just experience too much to write down in time to remember. I am sure I experience no more than any other person, I just notice things more and analyze them, probably more than I should.

This I mind I came up with the aforementioned idea for a blog.

As I have a memory not dis-similar to a siv, I have always collected things, everything. (Within reason of course)

Like a child when their mother empties there pockets at the end of the day, my pockets are always rammed full of seemingly pointless objects. However they tell a story and they make up my day. With out explanation of what, why and how I collect things it allows the viewer to make a story of there own and cast there own judgments of a narrative.

I have chosen this blog to move all my material to as I have a strong interest in photography and which to keep my first blog for that only.

Considered to be both a milestone in shooter design and one of the toughest games in the genre, Radiant Silvergun comes courtesy of Japanese developer Treasure. Released only in Japan, Radiant Silvergun offered two modes, Arcade and Saturn mode. The former is all about intense 2D shooting action, while Saturn Mode adds a storyline to the mix and features anime-style characters and voice overs. Radiant Silvergun’s most interesting feature is that it did away with the power-up system so prevalent in 2D shooters and instead offered a choice of attacks — and combos between them. From standard lasers, to split shots, tracking fire, homing blasts, rear attacks, lock-on laser, and the Radiant Sword that can act both as shield and smart bomb, players have to choose the right attack for the right enemy to make it through.
