Truly Wonderful!  Someone has created a mash-up fan-trailer for the next Batman movie.  It features Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Johnny Depp as The Penguin and The Joker, respectively.  Both actors have been tethered to rumors that they are attached to the newest project despite the fact that Nolan himself hasn’t even publically announced his involvement.  Regardless, this trailer is SO good (I still believe there is an art to trailer-makin’) and it makes me PRAY that Nolan goes ahead with a Depp/Hoffman pairing.  It will take these two together to try and accomplish what Ledger and Eckhart pulled off.  So, without further ado, my Bat-dream movie!

I’m not going to make a habit of posting videos made by those big comedy sites with large production budgets, mostly because I approve more of the do-it-yourself, obviously homemade efforts, but collegehumor nailed this.

Flawless.

Any fan of the recent Dark Knight movies, or any Batman-lore, will appreciate a turnaround gag. Batman as fallible. Our grimacing, serious-to-a-fault caped crusader making boo-boos. Collegehumor poked at select lines from the films, also poking at the standard impossibilities of Batman’s ninja moves, and here were are, pants-peeing away. I’m pretty sure that if you only caught Detective Comics in the 50s and you saw this video now, you would still appreciate it. The actor playing Batman has all of Christian Bale’s awesome lip-movements…things you notice on the big screen but ignore because of that haunting and intense orchestra tune in the background all the time. But yes, he really is waggling his lips around that much, and yes, it really is that funny. Try muting the movie the next time you notice Bats saying something particularly cheesey, and I bet there will be a tongue flailing to accompany that gem of speech bubble bliss modified for the silver screen.

You can take it a little further. Your Detective Gordon, an aloof type, still behaving aloof by looking everywhere except to the individual he is addressing, yet here that conversation style is REVEALED to be the characteristic that allows Batman his escape route all the time. I think it’s a lesson in contemporary manners. Please make eye contact with people you’re speaking to. Everything else is just rude.

That’s social SCIENCE.

CollegeHumor never fails me. The four videos in the Nick’s Commercials section are a lovely serve up to cheap infomercials for local businesses, costume warehouses, and…well, not much else. But they are hilarious. I wish there were 4000 more of these. My personal favorites are the Costume Warehouse and Winter Wonderland. And Frog. Enjoy.

It’s Monday. I am out of clean clothes, but I’m also out of quarters, meaning I’m wearing a bathing suit bottom for underwear. And it keeps giving me a wedgie. I ate a piece of cheese and applesauce for lunch because my fridge is empty. The weather has turned cold, the sky is gray and Speidi has a new book out. And I am 4 very long days away from the weekend.

Yeah, my day has been pretty damn sucky.

But then I found this video over at CollegeHumor.com (yeah, it’s all part of the job, people) and it made everything better. No joke, I’ve watched this thing 11 times. It’s like a DQ Tagalong Blizzard for your soul. Only it’s free, doesn’t require you to leave the house, and won’t make you fat. And it’s got a dog.

Tell me this doesn’t make you melt.

Streeter and Amir from College Humor have an ongoing prank war and have been recording it for our viewing pleasures. So much that they got a series call Pranked on MTV. Funny Stuff. This new prank by Amir is pay back for Streeter’s Half Court Shot Prank that i blogged about before. You can see all of their pranks HERE. Friends… Aren’t they great?

Amir und Streeter von Collegehumor.com spielen sich seit einiger Zeit abwechselnd Streiche, die den anderen in peinliche Situationen bringen. Mit der Zeit sind die Einsätze dabei ganz schön hoch geworden, so das es mittlerweile um eine halbe Million Dollar für Amir bzw. um Leben und Tod für Streeter ging.

Wer es noch nicht kennt, einfach mal von Anfang reinziehen. Nur so bekommt man wirklich alles von der sich erhöhenden Spirale der Schadenfreude mit.

Prank War Teil 1: Es beginnt alles ganz harmlos damit, dass Amir einfach nur “Stacys Mom” singt was Streeter extrem auf die Nerven geht.

Die 7 folgenden Streiche kommen nach dem Klick.

Teil 2: Als Rache lockt in Amir Streeter auf ein falsches Date:

Teil 3: Streeter schafft es Amir dazu zu bringen ein Promovideo aufzunehmen, in dem Amir verschiedene Rollen vorspielt.

Teil 4: Streeter tritt bei einer Open Mic Night auf. Was er nicht weiß: Amir hat das Publikum gebeten nicht zu lachen.

Teil 5: Amir und Streeter fliegen von New York nach LA um in einem Sketch für MTV aufzutreten. Amir muss nur eine Zeile sagen, aber irgendwie ist keiner mit ihm zufrieden.

Teil 6:  Langsam wird es härter: Amir macht Streeters Freundin in Streeters Namen einen Antrag. Bei einen Yankees Spiel!

Teil 7: Amir bekommt durch Streeter die Chance durch einen unmöglichen Basketballwurf 500.000$ zu gewinnen.

Teil 8: Streeter wird zum Fallschirmspringen eingeladen. Seht selbst:

Buenísimo. Pues si se hace caso a la recomendación de visitar la página de donde ha sido sacado, llegamos a CollegeHumor (y más concretamente a su sección de originales), una web donde podemos ver parodias de todo tipo, desde la ejecución mediante la silla eléctrica de la I de PIXAR, la desaparición frustrada de Batman, la difícil tarea de los conductores del coche de Google Street View (por cierto, ya están Vigo y Coruña en Google Street, igual apareceis en alguna foto!), o de como Ringo se queja de no cantar más. Una web muy recomendable que, aunque tenga los contenidos en inglés, seguro que irán apareciendo subtitulados en youtube.

Batman Begins and Dark Knight were terrific films, but Batman’s voice in them is borderline ridiculous. Not sure why this video is just coming out now but it’s an excellent parody in time for Halloween.

CollegeHumor never fails me. Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight is wonderful, I will never deny that, however, it does take itself VERY serioulsy. Granted, you’re working with a character steeped in tragedy, sorrow and vengeance, but still, Nolan’s feature has been praised for its dark, gritty atmosphere more than anything else. Which always blows my mind that more parodies haven’t surfaced. Past the Joker Interrogation Spoof, and a few cartoons ALSO found on CollegeHumor, there isn’t too much to lampoon Bale’s Bat-growl. Then comes along this little diddy. I always wondered how long it took ‘ole Bruce to perfect the art of “disappearing” and other tricks of the Knight. I FOUND SOME EVIDENCE!

College Humor: Batman Vanishing

I was never much of an RPG player, never quite got past Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. But I do have an entry-level knowledge of later N64 Zelda titles and their extraneous tangential tasks that Link would complete “on his journey.” I always wondered how an ocarina could help save a kingdom. Anyway, CollegeHumor has come through AGAIN and produced a wonderful short addressing Link’s rampant A.D.D.
