It seems as if the color of the year for lips is Tangerine/Orange.  This color has been celebrated from the runway to the beauty blogs!  It’s no longer just a pretty nail color for the summer…

As we all know for 2011, it was all about red lips.  While we can still appreciate the rose colored lips, tangerine lips have made quite the statement- it’s here to stay for a while!

We will see an influx of orange hues, from lipstick to nail polish- its the hottest color of the season! It’s first debut was summer 2011, and it seems as if we have fallen in love with the shade because it is making a come back and it’s better than ever!

As the official Color of the Year for 2012, you can now shop for the color ”Tangerine Tango”!  This color has been brought to us by the Pantone Institute, and while many lines of make up will carry shades of orange lipstick, only Sephora will have Tangerine Tango on their selves! Just in time for the hot weather you can step out with a tropical glow where people can notice it most.  The “Color of the Year Creme Lipstick” is great for the summer.  Your lips are kept smooth, moist, and look fab at the same time- it doesn’t get any better than this.  Make sure you have a tube of this year’s most raved about lip wear!

If you’re a little skeptical about having an orange pout, you can try coral or a peach color to ease yourself into the new fad.  Summer comes once a year, enjoy the weather and the make up it has to offer!

Their Fall presentation proved to be exactly what I was hoping for:  color, craziness, embellishment and over-the-top combinations.  When looking at the styling of the collection, one can get a bit scared by the covered faces and wacky pom pom headgear and colored monkey fur.  DON’T!! This type of art is London street fashion at its finest. Sometimes when looking at collections it is a bit easier to look at things as individual items rather than in a whole look and style.  If you take a look at these “jumpers” on their own, you can see their commercial validity:  fair isle, leopard, embellishment, and skull interpretations.

With kooky/kitschy knitwear spotted on the likes of Hanneli, Susie Bubble, the Glamourai and Kate Lamphear…this trend isn’t going anywhere.  And did you see Burberry’s animal sweaters this season?  So darn cute I can’t stand it.

The makeup was done by Two Faced Cosmetics and we loved how our concept turned out.

The collection is called “I see Light Far Away” and is a nod to Russian artist Kazimir Malevich who was known for geometric abstraction.  The strong color in the collection represents the light seen through the darkness in relation to hope and the current economic and political climate.

Three strong color stories were told in tonal palettes of orange/coral, evergreen/yellow, and orchid/plum.  The set told the same story as models posed in front of their related backdrop.

The collection had Mod references with clean shapes and bold color combinations. Corey’s signature prints dominated and her quirky edge was shown with LA Eyeworks glasses.

The jewelry was by Ben Amun and I was thrilled to experiment with my big earring idea by donning the models in mis-matched size/styles for my nod to Twiggy’s signature style.  Shoes were provided by Seychelles and worked great with the colors that we had in the collection.

It was such a great experience and I’m really happy for Corey and the team.  Excited to see where this year takes the brand!

After the show, she took us all to a great lunch at Pastis (one of her favs) for champagne and eats.  It was a great end to a wonderful creative project!
