Good morning! It’s a cloudy day here in the big apple I thought I might brighten up the day with these colorful pants from H&M. Yes, as you can probably tell from my last post, I recently went shopping there . I love the fact that these pants are loose and extremely comfortable! The black shoes and the beige blazer are neutral colors that allow the focus to be on the pants. If this is too colorful for you, you can replace the blue top with a white top.

The combination of green and leopard seemed strange to me at first – until I actually gave it a try. Now I am obsessed with wearing color and animal print together. What I love about this outfit the most is that it is put together from very basic pieces: a plain white tank top, colored denim and my worn-to-death biker jacket. What makes the combination not so simple are statement accessories: my fave booties and a major handmade necklace from Henleava, a local jewelry brand I love. This necklace was put together from loose leather swatches! If a piece of jewelry can make a statement and is one of a kind at the same time, it’s got to be mine.

Ezt a darabot kis bőr mintadarabokból rakták össze! Ha egy kiegészítő ilyen meghatározó és egyedülálló is egyben, az enyém kell hogy legyen.

Color combination is so darn fun, I could do this all day. Check out all sorts of other fun ways to coordinate colors:

Monochromatics. Pick a color, and pick tints/ shades of that color.

Warm colors/ Cool Colors. Pick colors from only one side of the color wheel.

Complements (triad, tetrad, split complement). Find contrasting colors from opposite sides of the color wheel.

 Combining these strategies is when you match tints/shades from different color families (have the same intensity). Colors would be the same if converted to grayscale.

Junho chegou, trazendo o verão e uma agenda bem mais leve. Consequentemente tenho tido tempo para me envolver em muitas das atividades que amo esse mês passado, como cozinhar coisas deliciosas e fazer projetos DIY divertidos (veja os tênis MiuMiu inspirado acima). Os dias ensolarados e noites quentes de Junho também significam uma mudança em minhas escolhas de roupa, e admito que tenho usado meus shortes Levis, calças coloridas, vestidinhos, sandálias, acessórios neon, e estampas divertidas mais do que nunca. Também tenho tido a oportunidade de passar muito mais tempo ao ar livre com amigos no mês de Junho, e espero que as festas nas piscinas dos melhores hotéis de San Diego e os encontros no pátio do meu apartamento continuem a acontecer com ainda mais frequencia durante o verao. Já que eu vou me juntar ao mundo profissional em breve, tenho como missão ter um verão inesquecível e aproveitar ao máximo todo o tempo que me resta em San Diego. Afinal, nunca sabemos onde o futuro nos encontrara, portanto,  aproveite todos os dias ensolarados, as festas na piscina com os amigos, o tempo extra que você tem para fazer quela corrida pelo porto, e todas as outras coisas maravilhosas que  acompanham o verão.

We are all fully “in the know” of the trend of rocking bright hues on your legs and derrière by way of pantalones by now. We’ve all seen the models, the bloggers, the neighbors, and perhaps even their dogs rocking bright pants, so certainly we must try the trend ourselves! I must admit there was a time when I shied away from wearing colorful pants, but I’ve gotten wild since those days of neutrality and I am here today to inspire you to free yourself from the chains of normalcy that restricts us all into wearing “regular” jeans so often. Because we all know the only thing that should always be regular is a woman’s period. Ha!

The only sin you can commit when wearing bright pants is failing to commit to the trend. Some may tell you that because you’re already wearing a bright piece of clothing (the pants), you should let them be the center of attention, complimented only by other small bright items (think a bracelet, a shoe, a necklace, for example) and/or neutral clothing, to which I say: FOOEY!  You are more than welcome, and I stronly encourage you, to pair your bright pants with equally bright tops and accessories. All you have to do is make sure the colors compliment one another (think pastel purple with other pastel hues, neon blue with neon yellow, etc etc..). And last but not least, as you walk out the door resembling a beautiful, bright rainbow, don’t forget to be confident in the fact that you’ve just dressed yourself like you know what you’re doing. Sempre fui grande fã de tudo o que é colorido e apenas um pouco ofensivo. Como uma jovem fashionista, lembro ter usado scrunchies neon no meu cabelo e meias fúcsia repletas de babados nos pés (lembrete para si mesma: trazer de volta as meias fúcsia babadas). Embora ainda compro roupas e acessórios em tons que possam ofender os olhos sensíveis de alguns, meu estilo tem evoluido desde aqueles dias mais simples de scrunchies e meias babadas.

Tenho certeza que estamos todas “in the know” da tendência das calças coloridas, nao é?  Já temos vistos as modelos, as blogueiras, os vizinhos, e talvez mesmo seus bichinhos de estimaçao usando as tais calças brilhantes, então claro que devemos tentar a tendência nós mesmas! Devo admitir que houve um tempo quando eu evitava usar calças coloridas, mas tenho me liberado desde aqueles dias de neutralidade e eu estou aqui hoje para inspirar todas a libertar-se das cadeias de normalidade que restringe todas nós de vez em quando. Porque todas nós sabemos que a única coisa que deve sempre ser regular e normal é o período de uma mulher. Ha!

O único pecado que você pode cometer em usar calças coloridas é não empenhar-se na tendência. Alguns dizem que porque você já está usando uma peça colorida (as calças), você deve deixá-la ser o centro da atençao, complementada apenas por outros pequenos itens coloridos (um bracelete, um sapato, um colar, por exemplo) e / ou roupa neutra, para o que eu digo: na-ni-na-ni-NAO! Eu encorajo todas a combinar calças coloridas com tops/blusas e acessórios igualmente coloridos. O único cuidado que você tem que ter é certificar-se que as cores que você esta usando se complementam (Por exemplo, use roxo pastel com outros tons pasteis, azul neon com neon amarelo, etc, etc.). E por último, quando estiver saindo de casa parecida a um arco-íris magnifico, não esqueça de estar confiante no fato de que você acabou de se vestir como você sabe o que está fazendo! Agora é só arrasar! 

Colored pants are really making a comeback these days. I think pants, like this one offered at Style Sofia, are a great way to color an outfit and keep your wardrobe exciting. (These pants even have pleating on the front! <3 ). Try wearing these pants with a simple colored blouse and perhaps a bold necklace.

Yesterday, I went the a courtyard party that Le Fix organized. Their shop is located in the heart of Copenhagen city and I definitely recommend that you pass by if you love high-street and if not I think you should pass by anyways! The attractive guys that own the shop offer you the A-class service…

Actually, you might think this next one is also bad…

(be a grown woman and wear magenta pants, emerald green pants, bright yellow pants.)

But you’d be wrong, because I have decided that teaching five year olds means I may wear whatever they get to wear, which is pretty much anything:

So if you’re walking down the street and you see a Cartoon Network character coming toward you, wave and say hiii Jane, I see you girl.

Back to my possibly bad idea, I am going to the opthometrist in a few weeks. I haven’t been in 2982935013 years, and I suppose it’s a good idea to get a checkup because they are my eyeballs and I need them. And, I should mention, while my mom was getting new prescription sunnies the other day, I pretty much figured out that my eyes must be terrible and I need a whole mess of frames to make me look more interesting distinguished.

And if you’re as curious about my facial expression as Kevin was (“Jane, why do you make the same.. face.. in every one?”)…

I told you, it’s become I’m tres distinguished, kahhhnt your tell? And plus, making the same face in every picture makes you more objective about which glasses make you look the most sophisticado.

AND it’s because I am not trying to cheese-into-the-camera, and have everyone know that I’m taking self-portraits in the middle of the store, obviously. That would be weird.

Almost as weird as doing it and then blogging about it.

The fashionista that showed me the (right) way to work the bright pant is Kendi of Kendi Everyday. Her blog is great for everyday fashion advice and she loves her bright, bold colors.

Now, we have all seen the bright pant go horribly wrong. It’s the girl in the mall with the neon yellow pants and black top, resembling the pesky, springtime bumblebee. This was always my horrific vision, so it is no wonder I had a paralyzing fear of flashy trousers.

In most cases, a colorful pant (green… not neon green!) calls for a muted color top. This creates balance and allows the pants to be the star of the outfit.

A pant with a deep color (like magenta) requires a complimentary color to complete the outfit. Deep colors compliment each other, so a magenta pant would look great with a deep blue top. Similarly, a royal blue pant needs something fun and complimentary (like magenta) to finish the look.

Pink is super springy and meshes perfectly with other shades of pink. A dark pink pant looks great with a light pink top. A light pink pant calls for a white top.

With the help of Kendi’s awesome style and stepping out of the comfort zone, I believe we can beat our fears and master this look with confidence and ease.

On an unannounced day in April 2005,  I received a pair of heinous 80’s pants. When I wore these this meant that my legs could have been mixed up with some urban decayed street art. I’m talking about some prized gang related material.  I could have cut the heart out of Times Square in them. These pants meant business.

They were from my Aunt Dawn, who colors outside of the lines. She sees different shades of color, and is something I admire in others.

After my grandma died Dawn decided it was time for change. So she sent her traveling pants and some other lively items to me.

But these pants were awful, and I loved them.

Those that know me well know that I’m drawn to flagrant attire. I’m talking about the shockingly noticeable arrays.

Something that I don’t share with most is that  I am drawn to the down right awful clothes; the clothes that no one dares to wear. But you and I both know, risk takers rule the world.

In fact, one of my favorite past times was going to the thrift stores with my true-blue’s to try on the most heinous outfit’s. I have pictures to prove it, but we won’t go there.

Somewhere along the way I’ve always relished over pants that were jazzy and colorful.

Ever since I received Dawn’s thunder I knew bright pants (FashionZest) meant business, which is no surprise why ultra bright hues are leaving a dent in 2012.

This is a fall trend that has bled over to spring. Don’t feel like you have to shove them back in the closet just yet.

Brands like Neiman Marcus, Missoni, and DKNY are going bold on the runways this winter with colors like lipstick red, cadet blue, Maui sunset, laser green, and organic yellow.

Why? The answer is easy. They’re a stand out and are truly noteworthy.

Skinny, cropped, or wide-legged pants are all trends spiraling on the streets.

The pants are funky, and refreshing. Especially for a season that’s well known for it’s snappy grays and blacks.

As of January, so many women are putting a dent in their paychecks for lipstick red pants.

Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, red has been a desirable color. Red is the color of desire, and passion.  Red clothing is untamed and has a wild streak as a lightning bolt. Red cars are prominent targets for thieves, as well as triggering heartbeats between relationships.  Even decorators say that red furniture is perfect since it draws attention.

As you know, a big part of this is grocery fashion. So let’s grab those sassy lipstick red pants and hit the pavement for some eye-catching fashion down the grocery aisles.

I absolutely love these colorful skinnys, and they look great on both girls and guys! It adds a little bit of edge to any outfit and almost screams: LOOK AT ME! This splash of color makes you stand out, but definitely in a good way. Just Chatwin looks so trendy wearing these bright chinos. I’ve been a casual observer of the colorful pants trend for a while now, but I was slow to jump on board. Not because I didn’t want a pair of bright britches to call my own; I’m just terrified of buying pants online, and I haven’t had much time to shop outside of my own store lately {which I’ve been doing a little too much of, by the way}.

Monday, my friend Meghan was having a super-sale at her boutique, m.marie, and her facebook updates were taunting me. I was sitting by myself at the shop, staring at the phone and willing it to ring, and after four hours without a single call I locked up my store and headed straight to Meghan’s. I picked up these Blank ankle cords, a striped tunic, and a cute maxi dress.

In other exciting news, it’s finally cool enough to break out sweaters (albeit, lightweight ones) and wrap a scarf around your neck without getting dizzy from overheating! Could it be that winter is finally gracing us with her presence in the sunshine state?!
