Hi Thunderscorpion here with an update on one of my favorite day’s of the year, Free Comic Book Day. The day that comic shops all around the country open their doors and give out free comics. There is an awesome line up of Comics to get this year. The Free Comics I’ll be hunting for will be, The Walking Dead Special, Dragon Ball & Rurouni Kenshin Restoration, Finding Gossamur/The Stuff of Legends, Fubar and Mouse Guard/Rust Flip Book. Long-time Vertigo Editor Shelly Bond has been promoted to Executive Editor of the imprint for DC. Having previously worked on many important and successful titles (including comics such as ‘Fables’, ‘the Invisibles’, and ‘Sandman: Endless Nights’) over the years, leaving outgoing Exec Editor Karen Berger to comment: “I look forward to reading many great comics and graphic novels from these three for many years to come. Vertigo is in the best of hands.”

Also promoted within Vertigo were Will Dennis, now the Group Editor, and Mark Doyle, promoted to Editor! Big moves at Vertigo, for sure!

Details of X-Termination Revealed

Last week we revealed a teaser image that was released by Marvel Comics that featured Nightcrawler and Wolverine. With no description on what it was going to be about with were left the rumors going around on the internet. Now Marvel has officially revealed the details behind this image.

X-Termination will be a crossover that will tell the story of the ’Age of Apocalypse’ Nightcrawler trying to find a way back to his own timeline (currently he’s in the 616 Marvel universe on X-Force). The series will begin and end with its own X-Termination Alpha and Omega issues and in between will spill into Astonishing X-Men,X-Treme X-Men, and of course, Age of Apocalypse.

“The AoA is Nightcrawler’s home,” said Age of Apocalypse writer David Lapham. “That’s where his family and friends are, that’s where he’s spent his whole life fighting Apocalypse and then Weapon Omega. That’s what he was trying to liberate. Just because he leaves to another place and has an adventure doesn’t mean he turns his back on all that and says “this new universe is a lot safer and cushier. I think I’ll stay here while my loved ones suffer.

“As much sympathy as he’s had for what he’s seen and done here in the Marvel Universe, he just can’t bring himself to feel it’s a completely real place. The Marvel Universe is some kind of dreamland. The AoA is real. As far as the greatest damage he could cause. Well, that’s part of our crossover event…”

X-Termination will start in March 2013 with X-Termination Alpha #1
