And it has returned on this mild Monday morning. After an experiance this weekend I have realized how important it is to know how to operate both Command Prompt in Windows and Terminal in Apple. That knowledge has decreased in importance as computers have become more mainstream. There is no longer a need to type in lines of code to start a computer, or to launch a simple program. With computers of today we do that with a simple push or a single click. The language used in both Command Prompt and Terminal seems to be dieing out, or rather, the knowledge of how to use the language. With a new generation of computer nerds coming up the older people, those who have the knowledge of how to type code, are being replaced. The new generation does not learn how to operate Command Prompt or Terminal, but it is still incredibly important to know. Those are simply my views on the topic posted from a 20 minute bus ride. I could be wrong, or I could be unfortunately be correct. If I am correct then there would need to be a changed interface. But for now there is no real problem, only the start of one.

Kemarin saya dapat tugas dari atasan untuk setting mail client di seluruh plant = Puluhan komputer dengan puluhan username unik = BUANNYAK! Untuk itu yang perlu saya lakukan pertama kali adalah mereset password SEMUA user. Bisa dibayangkan, berapa waktu yang dibutuhkan bila saya harus reset dengan GUI.wew!

Karena saya gak mau repot, maka saya pake deh perintah net user yang disediakan oleh Windows Server 2000.

net user user1 12345678

Perintah di atas digunakan untuk mengubah password user1 menjadi 12345678. Penjelasan lebih lanjut tentang net user ada di website microsoft.

Back to topic, berikut ini langkah-langkah yang saya lakukan

1. Siapkan daftar username yang passwordnya harus direset. Gunakan MS Excel atau aplikasi spreadsheet lainnya.
2. Buat perintah net user untuk salah satu username
3. Copy paste perintah itu untuk semua username
4. Buka notepad, copy paste semua perintah ke dalam file teks, lalu simpan sebagai file batch (*.bat)
5. Jalankan file batch tersebut. TADA!! Password untuk semua user telah direset.

That’s it. Sangat cepat kan? Bandingkan dengan penggunaan GUI. Jauuh!

note: Gunakan akun yang mempunyai akses sebagai administrator untuk menjalankan perintah tsb.

blom tentu hilang hanya disembunyikan /Hidden.

cara membalikkannya :

1. Masuk command prompt (start > Run > Cmd)
2. Masuk ke drive tujuan mis C:\>
3. Ketik Attrib -r -a -s -h *.* /s /d
4. Tunggu hingga selesai
5. Cek  data anda, mudah -mudahan masih ada….

Untuk lebih mengetahui fungsi attrib, pada command prompt ketik “Attrib/?“

This is a cool thing you can do with your computer if you have telnet enabled. If you do not have telnet enabled then go to turn on off windows features and turn telnet on. Once you have telnet enabled click start then run then cmd and click enter. When CMD is opened type in telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl and click enter. It will load for a little bit and then a star wars movie shows up in CMD. This is a cool thing you can do with CMD. If you have telnet disabled CMD will not recognize the telnet command.

To get the public key value of our assembly we need to open a Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt.

In the command prompt type : sn -T “path to your workflow dll”

Honestly, what did you expect out of a PC video game Demo? This is probably why the console players got theirs earlier because its easier. A computer has to think more than a console do. Anyway, here are the things wrong with the game.

• Game freezing every 10 seconds.
• In-game music is skipping.
• Game crashes back to desktop.

I can launch the game, and watch the introduction movie, but whenever I go past that the game closes to the desktop and displays “Completing installation…” and does nothing. Any fixes would be appreciated.

• Reinstalling the demo does not work.
• Game keeps Decrypting.
• People getting “Monitor out of Range” error.
• Game codes being invalid.
• Characters are floating, you can look down and see the players legs and feet.
• Can’t get online to play Left 4 Dead.
• Demo refuses to launch, only gives purchase option.
• Game disappearing from game list.
• Crash in single player at end of second map when closing door crashed with memory error.
• Multi-player we could all walk through certain walls and cars, couches etc but the game still worked fine.
• Multi-player the game crashed when it loaded the second map.
• AI in single player mode would stop shooting when being mobbed by large number of infected.
• Purple “rope graphic” when throwing boomer bile at the alarm area.
• NPC survivors would get stuck in looping animations when picking up objects.
• After pulling a teammate up,the player hand is still held out as if you are going to pull someone up, goes away after shooting.
• Common infected try to knock down a door that’s not there. [Meaning its been knocked down already and they're still you know...trying to knock it down.]
• The characters sometimes have something that looks like a foot spasm. Like they are treading water.
• The healing animations don’t function inside the Safe-room at times.
• Special infected spawn in same place on occasions.
• Australian and Germany version being over-censored.
• Witch doesn’t react properly to survivors sometimes.
• Hit boxes not working on Special Infected.

I saw a zombie with its knees bent and arms straight out to its sides spinning around like a helicopter. It stopped and looked at me for a second, then went back to spinning, so I shot it.

• Zombies being too easy to kill.
• “The survivors have escaped” is in very tiny lettering.
• Can’t hear in-game music.
• Guns disappearing from inventory.
• Special Infected being invisible.
• Infected having no heads but only in certain actions.
• The choice to be able to walk through the scenery.

The little bridge right out from the very start of the game that leads out of the starting area got dislodged and everyone started clipping through it, falling off the edge and needing other teammates to help them get pulled back up.

• Smokers being able to grab survivors through doors.
• Common Infected wearing Riot Gear does not die.
• Tank being too easy to kill.
• Launching Demo un-mutes mic.
• Can’t carry a primary gun and a melee weapon.
• The Wandering Witch only responds if you shoot her, loud noises, walking right next to her and shooting boomers that’s a foot away won’t disturb her.
• Pink and black textures on the wall. [Sounds like a graphical issue.]
• Pre-loading to %100 just make the game download all over again.
• Bile bomb seems more effective when just thrown on the floor like a pipe bomb.
• The older SI seem weak compared to the new ones.
• Too many options on what to grab as far as Pipe bombs, Bile bombs, Molotov Cocktails, etc etc are concerned.
• Shooting accuracy has declined.
• The game has the same feel as Left 4 Dead.

Getting charged by the Charger only to have him go right through me, hit the wall and some how managed to grab me from 10-15ft away and started pummeling me in the spot he originally charged from.

Common infected think the fastest way to get to me is climbing over lampposts instead of walking around.

• View-models are too close to the camera.
• Illegal position: get on roof in Parish.
• Ability to revive a player from any height.
• Illegal position: ability to ledge on a wall that doesn’t exist.
• Melee flashlight does not cast shadows.
• Incompatibility with MOTD and Internet Download Manager.
• Invalid client.dll’s.

You’ll see the Valve logo, then the L4D2 intro movie. If you let it play through, or if you press Escape to skip it, the game then crashes with an Engine Error saying “Could not load library client.”

• Cross-hair sometimes disappears, however returns when the weapon is fired.
• AI path-finding bugs: infected are getting ’stuck/caught’ on the cars or poles in the level.
• Lack of idle animation movement in pistols.
• Smoker has no ‘pull’ animation, either standing or moving. Often time appears he his floating across the ground and standing still when he fires his tongue.
• AI issue: bots occasionally congregate, particularly in corners and will refuse to move. They often refuse to pick up items such as med-kits and pills/adrenaline outside safe rooms even if they desperately need them.

CI issue: the CI will attack you from very odd angles, like running to you with their faces directed at you but bodies at an odd angle. Their body movement seems very unnatural and weird and objects in their way seem to make it worse.

• Every time the map changes, performance for some ATI users would drop to unplayable levels.

Assigning melee/heal to MOUSE4 means you can’t heal teammates. Trying to do so with mouse4 will act as if you’re just pressing, not holding Mouse4. It switches in to healing then quits right after.

• Friendly fire disabled for incapacitated people.
• No self-awareness.

Here are my suggestions for some of these errors. If you have the demo, and its giving you errors and nothing you do seems to work. Try waiting a few days, the servers at Valve are probably at its capacity sense people are trying to install the game at once. If you’re having problems with Left 4 Dead 2 freezing, try disabling Multicore rendering. If you’re trying to play Left 4 Dead online but you can’t connect, you should also wait, there a lot of anxious and potential whiners still installing the game. If you’re  having other problems with decrypting, try restarting Steam. That seems to help a lot of people. If you haven’t been able to even download it yet, you should just wait til they hype dies down. Chances are there are others who can’t even download it yet.

The demo will not be available to those who did not pre-order Left 4 Dead 2. The Grenade Launcher, Incendiary Ammo is not available to use in the demo.

The only melee weapons in the demo are:

1. Tonfa
2. Machete
3. Frying Pan
4. Electric Guitar

On another note, I feel sorry for those who live in Australia and Germany. They have Censored dead bodies and when you shoot the infected, they disappear before they hit the ground. There is barely any gore or blood in the game.

Iseng-iseng ngecek komputer yang ada di laboratorium komputer di sekolah dan niat mau nambahin komponen lewat registry. Tapi ternyata…muncul pesan registry editing has been disabled by your administrator!

Saya termasuk orang yang gak paham dengan registry, apalagi kalau udah muncul pesan error begini. Yang saya tau dari pesan error yang muncul : fasilitas registry telah di disable oleh administrator. Administrator yang mana? Saya juga gak tau.

Yang jelas kalau mau mulai masuk registry lewat klik Start –> Run –> [ketik] regedit –> muncul pesan error : registry editing has been disabled

Tanya ke teman, katanya masalah ada pada komputer udah kena virus. Beberapa teman yang punya masalah yang sama mengatasinya dengan jurus pamungkas, Windows XP diinstal ulang! Belum puas dan gak mau cepet-cepet install ulang, saya tanya ke mbah yang selalu menjadi tempat kalau udah ada penasaran begini, ya…mbah google!

Dari hasi pencarian informasi lewat si mbah, ternyata memang masalah mungkin karena ada virus lokal di komputer yang bersangkutan. Dari sana, saya dapet beberapa solusi supaya registry bisa digunakan lagi lewat regedit tadi. Mulailah mencoba langkah-langkah solusi yang diberikan secara cuma-cuma dari pencarian dim bah google.

Cara pertama : lewat gpedit.msc

Apa itu gpedit.msc? Saya juga gak tau. Pokoknya saya pengen cepet-cepet langsung meng-enable registry atau regedit, tanpa mencari tau apa itu gpedit.msc. Langkahnya :

Klik Start –> Run –> [ketik] gpedit.msc –> OK. Akan masuk ke jendela Group Policy, perhatikan explorer sebelah kiri.

User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> System. Double klik/pilih setting Prevent access to registry editing tools. Terakhir, pilih Disabled pada pilihan radio button.

Hampir semua komputer di lab yang regeditnya disabled, ada beberapa komputer yang akhirnya regedit bisa dibuka lagi. Tapi beberapa komputer lainnya, regedit/registry tetep gak bisa dibuka padahal langkah udah dilakukan sesuai yang diintruksikan. Ada apa gerangan?

Saya kemudian nyoba pake cara yang kedua : lewat Command Prompt

Informasi yang saya dapet dari sumber pencarian di si mbah, lewat command prompt nantinya DisableRegistryTools akan di delete secara manual supaya regedit bisa dibuka dan dipake lagi. Langkahnya :

Buka command prompt. Klik Start –> Run –> [ketik] cmd –> OK. Di command prompt, ketikan :

reg delete HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools.

Nanti akan muncul konfirmasi. Ketikkan Y untuk mengiyakan konfirmasi. Terakhir, coba buka regedit lewat run, apa bisa dibuka? Semoga...

Sumber bilang regedit akan enable alias bisa dibuka lagi setelah langkah dilakukan dengan benar. Tapi ternyata gak berlaku buat saya. Regedit di komputer tetep gak bisa dibuka. Kenapa ya? Apa virusnya udah galak, dan gak mempan dengan cara ini? Gak tau juga. Kalau sudah begini, sepertinya ada bisikan supaya pake cara jalan pintas, jurus pamungkas. Apalagi kalau bukan install ulang windows!

So, part of the reason I haven’t been posting lately is: 1.) I’ve been pretty busy and 2.) I got a mega stupid malware problem on my main computer.

Now, here’s the fun of it all.  I go to all of these websites and teach myself how to remove things manually… I learn it, but then I can’t find any of the specified files that I need to remove.  Then, I discover that the damn thing is blocking my antimalware programs from working (malwarebyte’s antimalware).  So, I try renaming them and their file extensions to trick the rogue program from recognizing and blocking them.

Command Prompt, Safe Mode, Secret Passageway secrets into the labyrinth of my computer, I’ve tried them all.

I’m in a conundrum.  I spent well over 3 hours last night trying to fix this.  I’m obsessed with buying Nintendo DS games on Ebay… I can’t limit my comic book intake, and now I probably have to dish out over 100 dollars to fix this stupid malware problem.

I had a similar problem with malware in the same family as this one, but this one’s updated and recognizes all of the previous tricks I learned… Plus, it got in through the vundo trojan.

Anyway, it’s been frustrating, and has sort of discouraged me and put me in a bad mood from rating things (despite having a gigantic stack of things to rate).

So, I’ll get back to rating things, and if anyone has any last ditch efforts or new ideas to get rid of Antivirus Pro and it’s dozens of popups (including fake ones to porn sites I’d rather not experience), please contact me.

So, you think going incognito or deleting your browsing history will keep your boss from finding inappropriate sites?  It does to some extent, but if someone really wanted to catch you in the act—whatever act that may be—then they wouldn’t have too much of a hard time.

We all know that your computer has to talk to a DNS service provider to translate the URL you type to an IP it can use.  Every time your computer has to resolve an address issue it’s cached in your systems DNS cache—basically, it’s your browsing history.  This browsing history isn’t restricted to your browser, it’s anytime your computer has to locate another server on the internet.

To find out what’s in your DNS cache is to bring up the command prompt in Windows and type the command:

ipconfig /displaydns

Now, the first thing you’ll notice is that a whole lot of information will appear, to the point that all of it can’t fit in the command prompt.  What you can do is take the output of the command and send it to a text file somewhere on your machine.

ipconfig /displaydns > c:\desired location

Now, when you open that file you’ll see information about the websites you’ve visited directly or indirectly.

You’ll see blocks like the one below; you might have multiple entries under each heading.

Finally, how do you get rid of this, so that the cops knocking on your door have a harder time finding your browsing history—they’ll eventually find it, you’re just delaying them.  Just type the command below and your DNS cache will be cleared.

Once you’ve typed that you’ll get a nice little message saying it was successful.

Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

That’s it.  Your DNS cache is clean of whatever inappropriate sites you visited.

Don’t like the black-dull command prompt in your Windows computer? Well, if you don’t really like the black-dull command prompt which hasn’t changed since MS-DOS (back in 1980s..but Microsoft added some new commands on the later versions) , here’s the solution. You can create your own windows application written in C#, which can mock the command prompt.  In this article you will be able to create your own fancy command prompt.

MELIHAT DAFTAR FILE: “DIR”

Perintah “DIR” berfungsi untuk melihat daftar file/folder yang berada di direktori atau folder tertentu. Sebenarnya perintah DIR mempunyai banyak sekali parameter perintah yang dapat kita gunakan untuk membatasi daftar file/folder yang kita inginkan. Di antaranya, parameter-parameter ini dapat kita gunakan untuk menentukan file, folder atau file dan folder yang ingin kita lihat di direktori/folder tertentu, kemudian menentukan apakah kita akan menampilkan file-file yang hidden atau tidak, kemudian mengurutkan berdasarkan nama, tanggal, ukuran, dan sebagainya. Untuk mengetahui daftar parameter dan cara penggunaannya, ketikkan “DIR /?” kemudian tekan Enter.

Melihat daftar file/folder dalam direktori/folder tertentu

MENGETAHUI/MENGUBAH ATRIBUT FILE: “ATTRIB”

Untuk mengetahui daftar parameter untuk perintah “ATTRIB”, ketikkan “ATTRIB /?”.

Melihat attribut file/folder
Format umum: ATTRIB namafile
Contoh: ATTRIB readme.txt
Untuk melihat attribut dari beberapa file/folder, gunakan wildcards character (*) pada namafile.

Mengubah attribut file/folder
ATTRIB daftaratribut namafile
Daftar atribut yang valid: H, R, S
Gunakan tanda ‘-’ di depan kode attribut untuk menonaktifkan atribut tertentu, gunakan tanda ‘+’ untuk mengaktifkan atribut tertentu.

Contoh pemakaian:
Mengubah atribut file README.TXT menjadi hidden
ATTRIB +h README.TXT

Mengaktifkan atribut hidden sekaligus atribut system pada file README.TXT
ATTRIB +h +s README.TXT

Menonaktifkan attribut hidden, read-only dan system pada semua file dalam direktori aktif (current directory). Kombinasi atribut ini dapat digunakan untuk memunculkan kembali file-file yang ‘disembunyikan’, misalnya sebagai dampak infeksi virus ke komputer:
ATTRIB -h -r -s *.*

This method of starting and stopping a service applies to all Windows based operating systems e.g. Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows Server 2000/2003.

The first thing you will have to know is the name of the service you want to stop or start. You can find this by going to the services list :

1.Winkey + r
2. Type ’services.msc’
3. Locate the service you wish to start/stop and righ click>properties
4. The Service name is shown at the top on the general tab.

For my example i am going to use Internet Information Server (IIS) as the service i wish to stop. It’s service name is ‘w3svc’. So once you have the name then perform the following :

1. Winkey + r (or start menu and then click ‘Run’)
2. Type ‘cmd’ and press enter to bring up a command prompt.
3. Type Net Start or Net Stop (depending on what action you wish to perform) and then the service name e.g. ‘Net stop w3svc’. Press enter.
4. In the above instance the command prompt window would show the messages “The World Wide Web Publishing service is stopping.” and “The World Wide Web Publishing service was stopped successfully”.

So, to start the service back up i would just use the Net start command.
