Dolphin became the default file manager when KDE went to 4.0, so Kubuntu users already know what a g

Dolphin became the default file manager when KDE went to 4.0, so Kubuntu users already know what a great program it is (unless they preferred to stick with the previous default file manager, Konqueror). While Ubuntu’s desktop environment, Gnome, has certainly stepped up of late when it comes to visual effects, screenlets and the like, KDE has always been about “bells and whistles”. And while Gnome can end up looking pretty stunning, the same can’t be said about its default file manager, Nautilus, which is about as plain as they come.

Dolphin, on the other hand, has the little niceties one would expect of a KDE file manager, like animated folder icons, and a lot more. There is an easy to access zoom slider for thumbnails, and has some pretty unique “views”. You can customise it in ways you could only dream of in Nautilus or Thunar, like not only add extra panes, but also move them where you like, and resize them to your needs.

If you look at the above pic, you’ll see that you can add a Folders (“tree”) pane and put it above the Information pane on the right (you could put it under Places, of course, but why not save that for shortcuts). Also, you can add a Terminal to the bottom, so whatever folder you’re in, you can just type commands without having to open a terminal in each folder (or continually change paths).

The views are “Icons“ (like the same in Nautilus, but smaller, and just the icon, no preview), “Details“ (your standard row-by-row format with information next to each file), “Columns“ (starts off with 2 columns, and every sub-folder you click on opens another), “Preview“ (turns your icons into thumbnails, and folders will show previews of pics inside), and “Split“ (gives you 2 columns you can browse with).

When you are in “Split“ mode, you can look at the beginning and end of a large folder at the same time, or use the second column to browse another folder or drive. The “Columns“ mode offers another interesting and useful way of browsing, so you certainly have a few choices in ways to browse.

Some things to note are that with Dolphin, like other KDE file managers, the default is to treat a single-click as a double-click. This can confuse Gnome users, as even slowly clicking a file will open it. All you need to do to select a file is click the green + that appears in the top left corner when you hover your cursor, and it will select it. But if you’re selecting a file simply to know the filesize, like you would in Nautilus, then you don’t need to, as that information will appear in the status bar and the Information pane simply by hovering your cursor over the file.

Not only that, but if you are in “Icons“ view, hovering over picture files will show the preview in the Information pane. In “Preview“ mode, another nice feature is that when you hover your mouse cursor over a folder, its preview thumbnail will cycle through other pictures in the folder (which you can see in the second pic, as the selected folder looks different from the preview in the Information pane).

So there are some great reasons to try out Dolphin. There’s a lot more you can do to customise its interface, and if the single-click/double-click issue ends up annoying you, then don’t worry, you can change the setting to what you’re used to. You can change that and other default settings via Settings > Configure Dolphin.

While Dolphin needs certain KDE libraries, etc, to function, any such dependencies will be installed with the program into your Ubuntu/Gnome system. Mark it for installation in Synaptic, or enter in a terminal:

sudo apt-get install dolphin

Adding perfmon counters using nrpe and centreon

First Create a Command Definition inside Centreon that looks like this. Naturally alter the globals

First Create a Command Definition inside Centreon that looks like this. Naturally alter the globals to fit inside your organisation.

Notice the Argument example, when you test it in this form you might also notice that you get a valid response from the server. Sadly this argument will not work inside the service definition.

Next Create a Service definition that utilizes this check command to check a specific counter. In my example i am using the MSExchange OWA\Total Users counter that is part of the new Exchange 2007 Perfmon counters. It will not work with a older exchange version. Use Perfmon on the destination machine to locate the right counters for your organisation.

Notice the difference in the passed Argument. To make this check command work you need to slightly alter the argument because the application is making the strings “save” when these settings are stored. The result is that some of the characters will be escaped. This can luckly be countered by participating this behavior.

We need the check_nrpe binairy to parse the escaped characters as literals and make centreon believe that we have already escaped the unsafe chars by adding slashes to each present slash, and add a double qoute at the start and the end to make check_nrpe binary parse the argument correctly. The outcome should look somewhat like this.

If this is the counter you want to check, and lets make it chalanging

\MSExchangeTransport Queues(_total)\Messages Queued For Delivery

Then the service argument for $ARG1$ in my example should look like this inside the Centreon service definition.

!\"\\MSExchangeTransport Queues(_total)\\Messages Queued For Delivery\"!(ARG2)!(ARG3)!

The result will be the following.

I hope this will help you tackle the “Counter” chalanges that Centreon will present when using the NSCLient++ and Check_NRPE commands.

How to check Oracle processes in windows using command line? Oracle DBA monitors oracle processes on

How to check Oracle processes in windows using command line?

Oracle DBA monitors oracle processes on unix using ps command. It is rumor that there is no alternate command available in windows for checking oracle proceses on windows. This technical tip helps Oracle DBA for monitoring Oracle processes on windows using command line.

Burning problem of Oracle DBA is how to check Oracle process in Windows while GUI not available (May be in Remote database monitoring). In unix it is very easy for administrating using ps command. Is there any alternate available in Windows? When we will ask this question get no answer for same. Because lack of knowledge of command line for Windows. Here you can get help for same which command is available for performing same task of Oracle DBA.

Is there any command in Windows like ps command in Unix for Oracle DBA?

How to check Oracle processes in windows. This is burning problem for every Oracle DBA.

In unix there is command called “ps“. Using ps command Oracle DBA can check all type of processes which are running in system. Ps command is very useful to administrating and monitoring oracle in unix/linux systems for all Oracle DBA.

But unfortunately there is no command available in windows just like ps in unix! Means there is no way to find out running processes in windows system using command line! Only task manager option is available in windows system for Oracle DBA. Using task manager we can check running processes in windows system. Task manager is GUI tool. Sometimes it is very difficult to monitoring and administrating Oracle on windows systems for Oracle DBA using GUI tool.

Alternate of ps command in windows (Great tip for Oracle DBA):

Windows has own command to trace all running processes in the system. Using “tasklist” command Oracle DBA can able to trace all running processes in windows including oracle,sqlplus,exp,imp and others. Tasklist command is very closer to ps command. Using tasklist command Oracle DBA can able to access process ids, session ids, cpu time, and modules of running processes in Oracle on Windows.

No it is not TRUE. Really !!!

Please check help of tasklist command.

C:\>tasklist /?

TASKLIST [/S system [/U username [/P [password]]]] [/M [module] | /SVC | /V] [/FI filter] [/FO format] [/NH]

this is another one of those quick commands you can fire off in a console to get instant information and it’s another one of the reason’s I could never go back to using Windows.

I should point out that this command was issued from within the Easypeasy eeePC distribution not Xandros etc. so i’ll check further on that and your mileage may vary etc. etc.

1 Samuel 15:22-23 — “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as

1 Samuel 15:22-23 — “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.”

Saul led Israel in a battle and won, but broke God’s command to destroy everything completely. They kept the best sheep and cattle for themselves. When Samuel confronts him, Saul cooks up an excuse that they didn’t destroy it all because they wanted to sacrifice the spared animals for God.

Samuel looks Saul in the eye and tells him that God would rather Saul obey than do what he thinks is best. God loves sacrifice – literal sacrificed animals in the OT, figurative sacrificed lives in the NT – but He loves obedience even more.

How often are we – and our churches – guilty of ignoring what God commands and doing what we would rather do (and hoping it pleases God in the process)? How often do we skip the command to live transformed lives of constant worship in favor of setting up and pursuing “laws” that we like better?

I talk to people all the time who get much more consumed with what can and can’t happen in the “church building” than they are with what will or won’t happen in “God’s house.” By “God’s house,” I’m referring to your body, where the Spirit of God dwells, of course.

It is so stinkin’ easy to get worked up about all that other stuff because it takes the pressure and focus off what I am supposed to do. Saul and his army spent significant time and resources to set up a situation that other people could look at and say, “Wow! That’s great!” when they could have spent much more quality time simply doing what God told them to do in the first place.

Bottom line for us: God says, “Love God with everything you’ve got – heart, soul, strength, time, resources, thoughts. And love every other human being as much as you love yourself.”

If I’m loving God with all I’ve got, I don’t have time to worry about making my job or my church building or my worship service into something that makes me happy. I don’t have energy to pour into making sure no one else breaks one of my favorite “rules” and messes up my experience.

If I’m loving every other human being as much as I love myself, then my neighbors have the same (or better) standard of living that I have. Their house is as nice as mine. Their car runs as good as mine. Their kids have as good a Christmas as mine does. Their clothes are as “in style” as mine.

Ask yourself this question: If Samuel were here to look you in the eye, what would God say?

On obtient donc ceci :

/// <summary>
/// Provides common functionality for ViewModel classes
/// </summary>
public abstract class ViewModelBase : DependencyObject, INotifyPropertyChanged
{
    public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged;

    protected void OnPropertyChanged(string propertyName)
    {
        PropertyChangedEventHandler handler = PropertyChanged;

        if (handler != null)
        {
            handler(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName));
        }
    }

    public abstract void OnViewReady();
    public abstract void OnViewDispose();

}

#region GestionCommandes
private DelegateCommand<Models.Person> editPersonCommand;

public ICommand EditPersonCommand
{
    get
    {
        if (editPersonCommand == null)
            editPersonCommand = new DelegateCommand<Models.Person>(EditPerson);
        return editPersonCommand;
    }
}

private void EditPerson(Models.Person person)
{
    MessageBox.Show("Ici on éditera la personne", "", MessageBoxButton.OK);
}
#endregion

<Window x:Class="WpfModelViewApplication3.Views.MainView"
    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
    xmlns:c="clr-namespace:WpfModelViewApplication3.Commands"
    Title="Main Window" Height="400" Width="800">

    <Grid>
        <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding People}" />
    </Grid>
</Window>

<Window.Resources>
    <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type localModel:Person}">
        <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal">
            <Label Content="{Binding FirstName}" />
            <Button Content="Modifier" Margin="5 0" Command="{Binding EditPersonCommand}" CommandParameter="{Binding}" />
        </StackPanel>
    </DataTemplate>
</Window.Resources>

<Grid>
    <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding People}" />
</Grid>

<Window.Resources>
    <c:CommandReference x:Key="EditPerson" Command="{Binding EditPersonCommand}" />

    <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type localModel:Person}">

Mark 4:26-29

He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

Jesus spoke in parables and sometimes I wonder why not just plain talk but that doubt was clarified in v11 where he said that the secrets of the kingdom of God are revealed to those God chooses to reveal it to and not to those who God chooses not to. Today’s parable seems so obvious and I would wonder why some people dint get it but as I read it again, I realized that to understand it, one first needs to understand God’s will for our own lives. This parable was spoken in the spiritual sense and has to do with what God commanded us to do in Matthew 28:19-20 when he gave us the great commission. He commanded us to go and share the good news of salvation through his own death and resurrection and the new hope that we have of knowing where we are headed beyond this physical body.

As servants of God, our primary calling is to serve God and not ourselves. After we are saved, our new lives are not to be lived for our old selves but for our maker and creator who saved us from certain death and the fires of hell. For this great blessing, we are called to go out and share this great news of forgiveness and hope which is free to all men. A serious challenge we face with this commission is our minds which makes us wonder how we can share the good news because we may not be good speakers like Moses, worry about loosing friends when we talk things that they don’t appreciate, etc. However, we need to realize that God saved us not because of anything we did but because he wanted to bless us and we need to go out and shamelessly share this same good news and not worry about the result because that is God’s work. Are you willing to stand us for your savior? If yes, do it shamelessly for the Lord and if no, seek God’s help to know how you can serve him.

Formal authority can be thought of as the right to command or compel another person to perform a certain act. Power is the ability to influence or cause a person to perform an act. It is possible for a manager to have formal authority without power, just as it is possible for a subordinate to have power without formal authority. The distinction between these terms may be significant for the manager, who may assume that his formal authority automatically gives him power but overlook the fact that his subordinates also have power, at times greater than his own. The manager in such a situation can encounter difficult and frustrating experiences without knowing why.

If formal authority were dependent upon physical power only, life would be even more difficult than it is. Ultimately, formal authority is dependent upon the law, but most frequently it results from a shared perception that those with formal authority have rights that ought to be acknowledged. This “ought” is so widely believed that those with formal authority may very frequently have real power as a result.

The armed forces remain a mystery to a huge section of UK society. I thought this quite strongly whe

The armed forces remain a mystery to a huge section of UK society. I thought this quite strongly when our bus rattled over the cattle grids at Caerwent training area yesterday.

As us 10 trainee journalists skidded along the rain-soaked roads of the 1,500-acre site, we got held up by marines with tired-looking black and green faces and their guns. Smashed-up warehouse buildings and barbed wire lined the roads while skeletal sheep grazed the tufts of grass around them. It was like entering another world.

We were there on a Senior Command Course to watch marines Non-Comissioned Officers – the forces’ real on-the-ground elite – compete for promotion from corporals to sergeants. We were herded around on patrol, ‘embedded’ with the military to test their skills in keeping us alive. Read on to find out if they managed it.

But we also had to test our skills as journalists – whether we could pick through the miles of jargon and chaos, and of course, darkness and freezing rain, and come out with a usable story on the other side.

The military and the press have always been at odds. Journalists take risks; they don’t fall into line, and the soldiers looking after them have to risk their necks to pull them back, like children, from the side of the road.

But it’s worse being a freelancer. If you’re not embedded with a unit you have the advantage of uncensored copy – but the disadvantage of being blown up or kidnapped at any second, as the case of Javed Yazamy proves. According to the International News Safety Institute, 23-year old Mr Yazamy, a freelancer who contributed to the Canadian Press, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Kandahar City, Afghanistan on 10 March this year. He was in his vehicle at the time. There are countless cases like his.

So the MOD’s line recently, especially since Iraq, has been that they’re in support of the press. “It’s part and parcel of being in a liberal democracy,” Major Andrew Ferguson told us.

“Some journalists, once they’re embedded, decide to go against the military to get the story they want. But the individual will be ostracised – and they won’t be allowed to work with the military again.”

The two of us, he said, must work under the same sense of brotherhood the forces work with themselves. And surprised though we were, once we were on patrol with the marines they treated us like family.

The troop, made up of 38 corporals from all over the UK, took us under their wing and showed us round. The men in their mid-thirties, all with years of operational experience, were spending the 10-day period camped out in one of the deserted buildings. They lived on an hour or so of sleep every 24, and 7000-calorie ration kits which included dehydrated lamb dinners, unbranded milk chocolate and even tiny bottles of tobasco sauce.

It was few days in and they were already exhausted; five had dropped out from an original 43, one due to appendicitis. While they sat around and told us their war stories, the November wind whipped through the broken windows of the old ammunition factory where they still are now.

The time came for orders – their briefing - and they all gathered in a darkening corner of the warehouse where a model of little cardboard boxes and crepe paper had been put up. We sat on a cot bed along the wall and were introduced as “our friends in the media”, which earned us a curt nod from around the room. The report points on the model were given names like Kate Adie and Trevor McDonald, in honour of us.

The mission was to make a reassurance patrol in a fabricated Afghan village down the road, with the intention of setting up future civic projects. Those in charge of the various sections ran through a dazzling array of jargon that we tried furiously to scribble down in the near-dark. They explained parts for us, which we just about understood before they moved on again. By the end of the orders we were fairly confident the three of us would just be following the troop sergeant in single file the whole way.

But, as could be expected, the mission didn’t go to plan. We were at the rear of the troop when those at the front came under fire from insurgents (played by members of the army). We were impressed by how we were looked after. They had us sit completely still while supposed chaos unfolded and gunfire rattled overhead.

Some of our colleagues, playing freelance journalists, were locked in a toilet and told to stay there until things calmed down. They weren’t told what was going on; we were. We had various officers retreat from the front line to calmly reel off what they were doing now; even to make some light conversation. Many of them seemed to enjoy having guests in their midst.

Then a corporal from one section was ‘injured’ by a ‘gunshot wound to the leg’ at around 6pm. He was stable, and so it wouldn’t be newsworthy, we were told. As there was a risk of injuring civillians the troop withdrew back to the base. We came back cold, wet, and without a story.

We got back, debriefed, and the men went off to get some kip while we were driven back to our base. It felt like we’d hardly started; and when some young riflemen we got chatting to back at the base went out to play more insurgents at 11pm, and left us to sleep, we felt inadequate.

Before they left, they were a little suspicious – asking if I was hiding a dictaphone under my Times - but more often they were just incredulous about our work, much as we had been towards theirs. Maybe our relationship with the military is not so much hostile as, well, ignorant.

So we could all do with learning a little more about each other - even if the work’s not to our taste. And it seems the feeling’s mutual. As one 21-year-old rifleman said: “Is that all you do? Read papers all the time? I’d rather be shot at any day.”

Few days ago, we were shocking when listened Williardi’s testimony at court about Nasruddin Zulkarnaen’s case. Williardi answer the judge question and said “It was a conspiracy in this case to make Antasari Azhar as the suspect”. Williardi’s statement in court was different with his statement when answering police investigating officer. And we were shocking again when Williardi, at court, said “Demi Allah, Jika saya berbohong maka anak-anak saya akan mati” (God, If I am a liar, my children will die”.

In that case, we can look the ethical dilemma. Williardi formerly worked as Chief at Jakarta Selatan Resort Police. I think, the answer why Williardi give different answer in court is what we say “Divine Command Theory”. Actually, maybe the answer that he gove in investigating process is not his truly statement. Maybe he was under-pressure from the “Big Power” –the party that made conspiracy.

In court, it was no problem when Williardi give different statement. Testimony at court also legitimate as one of the evidences. And, maybe, at court Williardi remember the Islam rule, to be honest. Before someone gives testimony at court, first he will take an oath, with Demi Allah. And Williardi change his testimony first and give different testimony. Maybe he think, he have done right thing. And to strengthen his testimony, also to give more trust from Judge Opinion, he adds “Demi Allah, Jika saya berbohong maka anak-anak saya akan mati” (God, If I am a liar, my children will die”).

An introduction to search commands

Did you know you can search Google for web pages which were published in a certain timeframe? Did you know it often better to use Yahoo to work out your back links as you can exclude your own internal links?

In Yahoo it is possible to restrict your search to pages which have meta tags or which are in the Mediterranean (the coast, one assumes, rather than the sea). On Live search you can look for pages which contain RSS.

The Search Commands* home page shows summary search commands for: Google, Yahoo and Live Search. The rest of the site takes a deeper look at the nuances of common search commands and digs up some of the more obscure search engine commands too. Search Commands* is in beta.
