The All Power gen. is an acceptable substitute for the more expensive name brands in the same category. It starts easy and has plenty of power for the average camper. I’m not sure I’d want to hear several of these in a campground but out in the woods it wouldn’t bother anyone and delivers what it promises.
I give it four stars because according to the description of this product it came equipped with a volt meter. There is not a volt meter and this was the deciding factor for us when we chose it. The dealer responded and said the decription was in error. Hopefully it has been corrected.
Over all I would recommend this product if you need power occasionally and don’t want to spend huge money. I’ve seen them locally for twice the price.

Didn’t work for long – Moh – Massachusetts
I also used my generator twice and it failed after the second use. The company was very helpful in telling me I needed a new invertor, for . which they promptly shipped for an additional . That was the end of their customer service. After 4-5 calls requesting a repair manual and a return call, with not one call being returned, I was finally able to speak with a service rep. I requested a repair manual once again, which again fell on deaf ears. I have the inverter but not the guidance to install it. I emailed the company concerning this issue but did not receive a reply. Buyer Beware!
Would have been nice if it actually worked – B. Smith – Hattiesburg MS
Got the generator in and it worked once. After that the motor would run but would not generate any AC or DC power. Customer servcie was unable to locate a service center that would work on the unit. They authorized a refund within just a few days.
Great Value Generator – shojim89 – Centreville, Va.
I use this generator primarily for dry camping in a travel trailer. Of the other generators around, this generator did all the others would do plus. It runs relatively quiet and ran atleast five hours on one tank of gasoline (6/10 of a gal.). If you need a generator at a reasonable price then don’t hesitate to buy this on. It’ll be well worth the investment.

I searched long and hard before I decided on the ETQ generator. The ordering process was great, delivery was great and initial set-up was simple and easy to perform. I ran the generator at my first tailgate and it ran fine. The second time I used the generator it ran for 3-4 hrs and started to choke and eventually shut down. Needless to say I was shocked and all my electrical fun stuff at the tailgate ws done. The unit would not restart. I got it home 4 hrs later and it started right up?? So, I take it to the next tailgate and guess what? It shuts down again. I called Eatern Tools and Equipment and found a very helpful person ( Nathan ). Based on the symptoms described Nathan advised the gas cap was bad? We went through the process to confirm I purchsed the unti and I had a gas cap the very same day. I put the new cap on and ran the generator in the back yard and it did not fail after 6 hrs running. Hopefully this was the root cause as I will use the generator again this weekend.

Note: I thought I would have to take the unit for service to one of the authorized dealers in the Columbus, Ohio area. That was a disaster. I called the service company ( Hillard Lawn ) and was abruptly told they only work on equipment they sell and they did not have time. Needless to say, I was shocked and advised Eastern Tools and Equipment. They made a call to the service company and advised me the company would work oin the unit. I then called back to the service company and I will tell you I did not feel like my generator was welcome. Hopefully I will not need service or I’m screwed.

Overall with the exception of the gas cap issue, the generator works fine. Havea 30 amp secondary panel run for the home and it works just fine.

Engine is Easy-to-Operate, Durable, and Efficient
The TG72K12 features a powerful, 14-horsepower, 420-cc, four-stroke, gas-powered OHV engine that is capable of producing 7,250 continuous watts and 8,250 maximum watts. Its easy-pull recoil and electric-start make for reliable startups every time.

The engine isn’t just powerful, it’s also quiet. Thanks to its oversized muffler, the TG72K12 portable generator produces sound at just 70 decibels during operation.

And with a 6.42-gallon fuel tank and efficient power delivery, the engine is capable of running a 50-percent load for up to 10-1/2 hours or a 100-percent load for 6 hours and 36 minutes.

The engine also features auto throttle control technology, which automatically speeds up the engine when power is needed. This helps increase the longevity of the engine and also increases fuel efficiency.

Alternator Technology Safely Delivers Electricity to Your Appliances
One of the most innovative features of the TG72K12 is its ETQ Clean Sine Alternator Technology that ensures low total harmonic distortion (THD). THD is a measure of the quality of the electricity produced by a generator, and THD above six percent can damage electronics and other components over time. With THD of less than five percent, the TG72K12 ensures high-quality, safe delivery of electricity from the generator to your electrical components.

With low THD, this generator is computer-friendly, meaning it’s completely safe to use with laptops, printers, desktop computers, and more. The TG72K12 will give you peace of mind knowing that your computer hardware is completely safe from power surges and bad-quality electricity.

Up to 8,250 Watts Power Most of Your Household Items
The TG72K12 produces up to 8,250 watts of power to run most of your electrically powered household items. You can use the 120-volt, 20-amp GFCI-protected outlets to simultaneously power lamps, TVs, computers, fans, or other low-wattage appliances. Or you can power 240-volt appliances, such as your water heater, using the convenient 240-volt twist-lock outlet. Additionally, there’s an included 120-volt, 30-amp RV connection for added versatility.

Heavy-Duty Steel Construction That’s Built for Portability
Everything–from the engine’s heavy-duty cast-iron sleeves to the durable one-inch rolled steel tubing surround–is built to last. And with semi-pneumatic foam wheels and a fold-down handle, the generator is easy to move and store. The generator weights 207 pounds and measures just 32.87 x 22.24 x 23.82 inches (LxWxH).

Outlets Feature Circuit-Breaker Protection
The generator offers several ways to connect your appliances or electrical equipment. There are two 120-volt outlets available for most of your everyday, low-wattage appliances, such as fans, TVs, computers, microwaves, and toasters. There’s also a convenient, 240-volt twist-lock outlet for running single, higher-wattage appliances and electrical equipment, such as water heaters or central air conditioners. Finally, there’s a 120-volt, 30-amp RV connection for even more usage options.

All of the outlets on the TG72K12 Portable Generator are circuit-breaker protected to eliminate the risk of power-surge damage, which can potentially ruin your appliances and electrical equipment.

The ETQ TG72K12 Portable Generator is backed by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

The following battery types are compatible with this generator: Champion 94b1, JBS 12N9-4B-1, Motocross M2290B, Napa 740-1869, and Powersonic CB9-B.

Great Generator – ChrisA – Poughkeepsie, NY
Bought this generator back in July with a Gentran 301060 manual transfer switch and finally tested it in October. Started right up on one pull, ran smoothly and suprisingly less noisy than others I’ve heard. Two days ago the power went out at 4AM and the outdoor temperature was 6 degrees. I rolled the TG7 out in the driveway grounded it and it started on one pull. After letting it run 15 minutes to stabilize flipped the on switch and turned on the furnace circuit in the Gentran box. After the furnace kicked on I turned on the water pump circuit then the circuit for the kitchen outlets plugged in a coffee maker and the TG7 ran flawlessly until the power went back on four hours later. This machine is worth every penny. For about 2000 more I could have an automatic system with an LP Generator that has the same wattage ratings as the TG7 and an all weather housing. However the budget didn’t allow for the extra expense so for now the TG7 was the best buy. I’ll have to build a housing though because this generator or any other has to be protected for use in rain or snow. I’ve looked at some on the Net but they cost almost 1000 dollars. Anybody ever built a shelter for a generator?
Very Happy With This Machine! – K. Henderson – Kingman, AZ. United States
Followed the instructions to the letter and it fired up on the first pull. Noise level is fair for such a large engine and the power output is up to standard. It’s mostly used to run a 1 horse, 240v well pump over 300 feet down. I installed the battery and it is nice to have but not necessary. This unit starts easily and I would only buy a battery again if it was going to be started by someone unable to pull the rope. The main breaker is a good feature, you can keep everything connected and utilize the switch. You’ll need 1 quart of oil, 10w-30, otherwise everything is in the box (except gas…)
Good value – William A. Buckalew – new jersey
Delivery was fast, generator was easy to prep – Started on second pull,no need for a battery start.Good value,so far all positive.

Compact Design Packs Plenty of Power
The IN800I weighs only 27 pounds, so you can have power just about any time–camping, hunting, tailgating, boating, and more. Its durable, one-piece construction with built-in handle makes the IN800I much more portable than full-size generators. And even though the IN800I measures just 17.6 x 9.8 x 14.8 inches (LxWxH), its four-stroke, 38-cc engine with easy-pull recoil is capable of producing 800 maximum watts or 750 continuous watts–plenty of power to operate a lamp, blender, CD player, fan, computer, power drill, 27-inch TV, or microwave.

The IN800I’s innovative smart throttle technology efficiently uses fuel by automatically regulating engine output based on power demand, so the IN800I uses less gas when power demand is low. This means the IN800I can run a 50-percent load for up to 3-1/2 hours or a 100-percent load for up to two hours.

Alternator Technology Safely Delivers Electricity to Your High-Tech Appliances
One of the most innovative features of the IN800I is its ETQ Clean Sine Alternator Technology that ensures low total harmonic distortion (THD). THD is a measure of the quality of the electricity produced by a generator, and THD above six percent can damage electronics and components over time. With THD of less than three percent, the IN8000I Portable Generator ensures high-quality, safe delivery of electricity from the generator to your high-tech gadgets.

With low THD, this generator is computer-friendly, meaning it’s completely safe to use with laptops, printers, desktop computers, and more. The IN800I will give you peace of mind knowing that your computer hardware is completely safe from power surges and bad-quality electricity. This generator also features a 120-volt dual outlet with circuit-breaker protection to guard your high-tech electronics from power surges.

Smart Features for Comfortable, Easy Operation
Nobody likes a noisy generator when camping, so the IN800I’s quiet 60-decibel noise level will be loved by everyone at your campsite. The muffler keeps noise levels down and reduces engine vibration.

And for convenience, the on-board controls let you know if the oil is low, the power is low, or the power is out.The IN800I is backed by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

not worth money – Robert Davis –
had genorator for a month used it on my camper made the mistake of trying to run a coffee maker BIG MISTAKE!! it has never run again it it triped the breaker and would not reset so it is just sitting in the garage now and will never be used agian it would cost me more then i paid to fix it so please becarefull when buying this genorator it is a cheep one!!!!
Don’t buy it!!! – Richard R. Dahlstrom – Wisconsin
I have had nothing but trouble from both units I bought from Menards. It will not power a 500 watt light which is what I wanted it for. It trips the breaker constantly. It is very difficult to start and Menards will not return or exchange it without special authorization from ETQ. Tech Support at ETQ talks to you like you are an idiot. I just returned the original I bought and got a new one from Menards. I absolutely cannot start it. I am mad as hell because now I am just plain stuck with a generator that does not work. ETQ will not give refunds. Do not, absolutely, do not buy one.
Buyer Beware – Frank Bence – Corona Ca
Bought this unit based on the specifications that it was a quiet generator. I ran this with no load and it ran noisier than the Honda 2000 I rented under a half-load. Guess what !!! you buy it you keep it The unit cannot be returned to Amazon nor the manufacturer. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!

Review of ETQ TG28P. After looking at several models the TG28P seamed like it would best suit my purpes for an emergency backup generator. I chose it over the ETQ TG32P12, witch appears to be a more popular model.

The TG32P12 is advertised as having 3200 watts continuous output but if you look at the wiring diagram this is accomplished with 2 120-volt circuits each rated for 13amps 120volts. It will produce 240volts if you need that feature. I have a large furnace blower and was afraid 13amps may not be enough to start it up.

The TG28P is a single pole design rated for 2800 watts continuous, which is 23amps on a single circuit, more then enough to start my furnace or my large 120volt window AC.

Shipping was free with “super saver” and I got the gen in about 5 days. It was not double boxed but the box was in good shape when received. I opened and inspected the gen and found no problems. The wheels and handle needed assembly; I first thought some of the hardware was missing. I found the missing hardware packaged in a separate plastic bag hidden/tucked between the engine and generator. Once I found all the hardware assembly was easy.

When I removed the oil fill cap it did have a dipstick, but it really isn’t used anyway. To get the proper amount of oil in the engine you need to fill it all the way to the top of the fill neck, which is common on a lot of small engines. The oil fill area is hard to get to even with my curved funnel I managed to spill a lot. Gas was easy and there is a fine screen over the gas fill to protect from any sediment getting into the gas tank. There is also a simple float type gas gage.

To start the engine you do need to pull the rope at quite an angle due to the design of the front panel. The pull is easy due to auto compression release (works the same as Honda). You could cut/modify the front panel if you wanted. This thing starts first or second pull with very little effort. It comes with one 15/20 amp duplex receptacle protected with a 20-amp breaker. One 30amp twist lock protected with a 23amp breaker; this is a single circuit so 23amps is max continuous draw possible. There is also a 12volt plug with an 8amp breaker untested by me. There is also an hour meter that will help with oil changes. I have had good luck with inexpensive engines simple by changing the oil frequently. I recommend oil changes at 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, then every 50 hours. It uses less then one quart of oil so this isn’t expensive to do

I haven’t made a disconnect for the furnace yet but the generator does run/start my air compressor and window AC just fine (only one at a time of course). I only have about 2 hours use but so far it works exactly how I expected. I realize it is not a high-end generator but hopefully it will not see as much use as one needed on a daily bases.

Shame on you, Amazon! – Marie F. Parkman – Rathdrum, ID
BEWARE!!!! Despite the implication in the positive review that this generator has 220V, IT DOES NOT AND CANNOT BE CONVERTED! That plug on the side is an RV PLUG, not a 220 plug. AND THIS ITEM CANNOT BE RETURNED EITHER THROUGH AMAZON OR THE VENDOR. So, if it’s so great, why won’t anyone take it back?
We needed this generator to run our pump when the power goes out. We now have a USELESS 0 doorstop!
Since Costco is also selling another version of this same generator for 0 delivered, we have no chance selling it for what we paid for it.

So, be SURE it meets your needs and that you don’t want the option of returning it before ordering it.
Poor Quality! – Gophins134 –

Box arrived damaged however the generator was not damaged. The first time we used it for a camping trip; it worked great for about 3 hours and now does not work. It’s currently been sitting in a repair shop for 3 weeks waiting on parts from Eastern Tools for the repair under warranty. I will never buy another generator from Eastern Tools again!!

This is intended as a pretty high level overview of how you can get MOSS to validate against the W3C

This is intended as a pretty high level overview of how you can get MOSS to validate against the W3C XHTML 1.0 recommendation. The aim of this article is not to explain every intricate detail of getting a MOSS site to be XHTML compliant. However it should demonstrate some techniques to get people started and eventually develop better methods of achieving compliance.

Firstly it should be noted that this is really just for public facing publishing sites. In other words we’re talking about using just the WCM features of MOSS. You are not going to get your fully featured Intranet to be conformant in the current releases of SharePoint. The reason for this is that SharePoint generates out a lot of non W3C validating code. This is largely due to the richness of many SharePoint features like web parts.
Some of the techniques mentioned in this article are equally applicable to standard ASP.NET sites. So if you’re totally unfamiliar with XHTML validation it may be worth having a look at the Microsoft technical article on Building ASP.NET 2.0 Web Sites Using Web Standards. It is also likely that some of these techniques will be unsupported by Microsoft; so use at your own risk.

Web.Config

The first step is to add the conformance configuration setting to your web.config file. This will force certain asp.net controls to only output attributes that comply with XHTML standards.
<xhtmlConformance mode=“Strict“ />
This is only really important if you are trying to conform to the strict standard. If the setting is omitted the default output for ASP.NET controls is XHTML transitional. I prefer to add the tag in any way to make it explicit. Unfortunately many SharePoint controls are still going to output non-compliant tags.

Master Page Basics

The master page is where you are going to do the majority of the validation work. It really pays to start fresh with the Microsoft minimal master page. You are going to cause yourself a serious amount of pain if you try and tweak one of the out-of-the-box master pages. It is also best to start off using a page that is based on a blank page layout. This will help identify where any validation errors are actually coming from. The first thing to do with the master page is set the doctype to reflect the xhtmlconformance setting. For example if I’m using the strict standard my doctype will be:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN“ “http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd“>
You can also add a few XHTML attributes to the html tag:
<html xmlns=“http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml“ lang=“en“ xml:lang=“en“>

At this stage it is worth performing a W3C validation check to get a feel for the types of errors that need to be fixed.
My initial check yielded a horrifying 232 validation errors, with no content or navigation. Did I say this was going to be easy?
If you scroll through some of the errors you should notice that most of them are to do with invalid attributes. The majority of the errors come from only a few controls; namely the site actions menu and publishing console (referred to as Authoring Controls from here on).

Authoring Controls

These controls aren’t as big a problem as they first appear to be. We only really care about W3C compliance for anonymous (public) accessing users. As the authoring console is security trimmed when a normal public user accesses the site the authoring html won’t be rendered at all. You can prove this by enabling anonymous access, logging out and then trying to view the page anonymously. Make sure you have checked in and published the master page and layout page or you won’t be able to see the changes. The page will only display the welcome control displaying the ‘Sign In’ message. A quick validation check should show only a dozen or so validation errors. About half of these errors will have something to do with the site actions control. Although it has been removed from the page visually it is still rendering some HTML. There is an easy to solution to this problem; the SPSecurityTrimmedControl. This control allows blocks of content to only render when the user has specified a specified permission set. By wrapping the site action control inside the security trimming control and setting a required permission, the site action control is prevented from rendering any HTML at all.

<SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl PermissionsString=“AddAndCustomizePages“ runat=“server“>
<PublishingSiteAction:SiteActionMenu runat=“server“/> </SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl>

Remove/clean non-compliant HTML

Upon making a closer examination of the remaining validation errors it becomes obvious that most of them are to do with poorly declared script tags. Unfortunately these script tags are usually generated by the HtmlForm control so it’s not easy to override the output. The one technique that can be applied is to override the Page.Render method and do a bit of tag cleaning. This effectively lets us hijack the HTML rendering process and have a chance to add, modify or remove parts. It does involve writing a bit of inline code in the master page. Assuming that you have set your master page to allow inline code we can add some code similar to the following in the master page.

<script type=“text/c#“ runat=“server“>
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer)
{
// extract all html
System.IO.StringWriter str = new System.IO.StringWriter();
HtmlTextWriter wrt = new HtmlTextWriter(str);

wrt.Close();
string html = str.ToString();

// find all script tags
Regex scriptRegex = new Regex(“<script[^>]*”);
MatchCollection scriptMatches = scriptRegex.Matches(html);

// go through matches in reverse
for (int i = scriptMatches.Count – 1; i >= 0; i–)
{

// identify script tags with no type attribute
if (scriptMatches[i].ToString().IndexOf(“type”) < 0)
{
// add type attribute after script opening tag
html = html.Insert(scriptMatches[i].Index + 7, ” type=\”text/javascript\”");
}
}

// write the ‘clean’ html to the page
writer.Write(html);
}

</script>

This code block uses some regex matching to find all script tags and add a type attribute to any tags that don’t already have one. It is only a partial solution to the script tag problem, more code will need to be written to completely clean the tags.

Note that this code is crude and untested, but it should give you an idea of what can be done. It would be prudent to keep this kind of code to a bare minimum, so that performance is not affected. In other words you should only be using this method when you have no other option.

Meta Tags

You could extend the render code sample to remove all of your non-compliant code if you want. I would suggest that this is not the best way of doing things. Another technique is to replace standard SharePoint controls with your own custom built controls. A simple example of where this can be done is with the RobotsMetaTag. Using Lutz Roeder’s Reflector I was able to extract the following (simplified) code for the RobotsMetaTag control:

public class RobotsMetaTag : SPControl
{
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter output)
{
if (!SPControl.GetContextWeb(this.Context).ASPXPageIndexed)
{
output.Write(“<META NAME=\”ROBOTS\” CONTENT=\”NOHTMLINDEX\”/>”);
}
}
}

We can see that the META, NAME and CONTENT elements all violate the XHTML rule that stipulates all tags should be lower case. The offending line can be rewritten in a custom control as:
output.Write(“<meta name=\”ROBOTS\” content=\”NOHTMLINDEX\”/>”);

Now deploy the custom control to your SharePoint environment and add it to the master page in place of the RobotsMetaTag. Two more validation errors out of the way. I recommend using this approach wherever possible.

Content

Between the security trimming control, render code and custom control methods it is now possible to fix all validation errors and eventually get a conforming web page. Great, we have just made a virtually blank web page comply. The next step is to add all the content and navigation back in. To achieve total compliance it will be necessary to create a custom control for many of the components on each page. The trick here is to make these controls as re-usable as possible.
The majority of the content in your site will come from page layouts and thankfully most of the field controls output XHTML compliant code out-of-the-box. When you come across a control that doesn’t comply, again, you will need to make your own.
When it comes to navigation you have a couple of options. Either create custom navigation controls from scratch, or extend the SharePoint AspMenu control, as the source code has now been released for this control.

Web parts

At first I thought web parts were going to be no trouble when it came to W3C validation. Most of the web parts I use have an XSL source editor so all that is involved is to make sure that the XML is transformed into valid HTML right? Wrong, unfortunately web parts such as the Data View Web Part use some surrounding tables for layout. This is intrinsically bad practice for web development and accessibility but worse is that the tables use all kinds of non-standard attributes. The only solution that I have found to this is to override the render method as explained earlier. I recommend keeping web part use to a minimum. Web part zones should definitely not be used; they introduce a large amount of layout tables and non compliant HTML.

Summary

Hopefully this gives you a bit of a starting point in getting a SharePoint WCM site XHTML compliant. It is definitely not a simple task, however if you are doing a lot of SharePoint development you are bound to come across a project that requires it (e.g. government sector work). I believe that Microsoft is quite aware of these compliance issues and they will hopefully be addressed in the next release if not a service pack. I plan to maintain this document over time as I discover better techniques for dealing with the various validation issues that SharePoint presents. Good luck in getting your site to validate, you can look forward to seeing the following message to reward your hard work.

Received my 8 (incl shipping) bargain “Chinese” generator from Amazon, NIB. Found it had been dropped, the foot had sunk (smashed) thru the styrofoam packing. The front panel including the air cleaner area was cracked with a piece broken off. Started and tested OK – actually runs very well. Called Amazon, “she” asked me “if I send the parts at no charge, can you fixit yourself?” I said yes.
BTW, Purchased the generator to power LiPoly battery chargers – charge RC airplane batteries at the flying field – many, of not most flying fields do not have electricity.

1) after one “run”, the fitting attached to the fuel tank (above the petcock) started leaking. The connection was not tight enough. This is a straight ttread (not pipe thread) with a rubber “compression” bushing. After removal, I wound teflon tape around the threads, and under the place where the rubber compression grommet goes, so that when fitting was screwed into the gas tank, the threads were very tight fitting (because of the teflon tape) when hand tightened. When all was aligned, tightened with wrench to apprx 8 or 10 ft-lb.

2) Replacement panel was not exactly the same – had to fabricate new mounting for the capacitor, and power plug cover, and several other tweaks to get all to fit.

Disturbing Discovery; the wiring was not packed/secured properly – wiring was in contact with several vibrating parts, causing the wiring insulation to begin wear away (chafe) – this would eventually cause a “ground out” (cause a short to ground).

Once the front panel was repaired, and in place — read on

** repairmans “pro” tip **. Remove the gas tank so you have access from the top. Cover the power wires with large shrink tubing (so it fits over the power wire(s) connectors) and tie wrap (somewhat loosely) – be sure that no wires touch the engine/generator or fuel tank (protect insulation from chafing), Then put gas tank on last. Inspect wiring using flashlight to double check that no wiring is touching anything where vibration would wear away the wire insulation.

Finally, I’m still pleased with the generator considering the price. I just had to finish the “quality”.

120-Volt Connection for Versatile Use
The TG1200 features one standard 120-volt connection for running common household electronics, such as fans, TVs, computers, lamps, portable air conditioners, blenders, and microwaves.

Safely Delivers Electricity to Your Appliances
The TG1200 produces total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than six percent, which means that your electronic components get the cleanest electricity possible. THD is a measure of the quality of the electricity produced by a generator, and THD above six percent can damage electronics and components over time. With low THD, the TG1200 Portable Generator ensures high-quality, safe delivery of electricity from the generator to your electrical components.

Compact, Lightweight Design for Easy Portability
You can take the TG1200 Portable Generator just about anywhere. Measuring 12.5 x 14.38 x 14.5 inches (LxWxH) and weighing less than 45 pounds, it’s compact and lightweight, so it’s an ideal choice for traveling. And the generator’s small size makes it easy to store in a garage or shed.

The ETQ TG1200 is backed by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty and national service network.

Very Nice Generator – good compromise – Amazonian – Around the World
Got this about a month ago for tailgates. Haven’t put much time on it yet, but here are some intitial comments:

1) Mine did not come with a DC plug / adapter. Called ETQ and they said that the newer ones do not have that feature.

2) There is an error in the manual. It says to use 10w30 oil. That is NOT CORRECT. Use only 2 cycle oil. The manual is wrong.

I tested the sound level using my radio shack sound level meter and found that at 23 feet it produced around 59 dbA and at 9 feet it produced about 67 dbA. I would characterize the sound as louder than the Honda EU2000 / EU1000, but overall not too objectionable as it’s kind of a low pitch sound. It’s definitely why the unit is less expensive than the Honda EU, which I could not justify price-wise.
carburetor problems – Alan L. Peterson –
Got the generator for lightning my power panel which I needed to replace. Worked fine the first 6 hours. Next day, fuel was running out of the carburetor. No expertise here, but took off float bowl, air cleaner cover, sprayed choke/carburetor cleaner, and applied air pressure . Still, same problem. Used flashlight and batteries to finish my panel wiring. Next day took bowl apart and noticed gas inside the plastic float. Drained float and put a thin coat of Krazy Glue around the seam where it seemed to be leaking. With a smile, put it back together, but same problem of leaking gas around the carburetor. Next day, took bowl apart, experimented with the float tang that regulates gas flow at the pin valve, and finally success. Local small engine repair folks told me they knew of nothing that would work other than a replacement float. Had used similar glue on an outboard motor lower gear housing and still working fine after several years.

Works fine though low wattage – Sig – Arkansas, USA
This works fine… we’ve used it to power ham radio gear during a 36 hour race. Very small and gets great “gas mileage” when using it to power a 2m mobile and a few lights.

What a great generator for the price and free shipping to boot! Ordered late Sat. and and arrived Tuesday! You can’t go wrong with this GEMerator. I was going to purchase the Honda IU2000 and know a couple of people that have them and use w/their RV’s. Liked the fact that they are super quiet but did not like the fact that they would only run 4hrs on a tank of fuel and would not run AC. This generator covers both these negatives w/flying colors and 1/3rd the price! Not as quiet as the Honda but not at all too noisy either. Don’t get me wrong…the Honda is a great generator but it comes at a cost.

The ETQ 4000 was very easy to start (2nd pull) and purred like a kitten. Put her to the test right away and everything worked flawlessly. I will put it through its paces this coming week at deer camp and will update as to how it performs in the field. So far very happy w/this purchase! Don’t worry about the ney sayer’s on adding oil and pull cord being an issue. Was no issue at all if you have any kind of mechanical skills. Pulled from box, set-up on work bench and filled w/oil and a little gas, pushed over choke lever and gave a pull. Pulled one more easy pull and she came to life. Was concerned before purchase as to how loud it would be but was very pleased!

Happy in Michigan

Powerful Engine with Oversized Muffler for Quiet Operation
The TG32P12 features a powerful, seven horsepower, 207-cc, four-stroke, gas-powered OHV engine that is capable of producing 3,250 continuous watts and 4,000 maximum watts. Its pull recoil makes for easy, reliable starts every time. And with a large, four-gallon fuel tank and efficient power delivery, this engine is capable of running a 50-percent load for up to 13 hours or a 100-percent load for nine hours.

The engine isn’t just powerful, it’s also quiet. Thanks to its oversized muffler, the generator produces sound at just 65 decibels during operation, so your living area can remain quiet while your appliances stay powered.

Alternator Technology Safely Delivers Electricity to Your Appliances
One of the most innovative features of the TG32P12 is its ETQ Clean Sine Alternator Technology that ensures low total harmonic distortion (THD). THD is a measure of the quality of the electricity produced by a generator, and THD above six percent can damage electronics and other components over time. With THD of less than five percent, the TG32P12 ensures high-quality, safe delivery of electricity from the generator to your electrical components.

With low THD, this generator is computer-friendly, meaning it’s completely safe to use with laptops, printers, desktop computers, and more. The TG32P12 will give you peace of mind knowing that your computer hardware is completely safe from power surges and bad-quality electricity.

4,000 Watts Power Most of Your Household Items
The TG32P12 produces up to 4,000 watts of power to run most of your electrically powered household items. You can use the 120-volt, 20-amp GFCI-protected outlets to simultaneously power lamps, TVs, computers, fans, or other low-wattage appliances. Or you can power 240-volt appliances, such as your water heater, using the convenient 240-volt twist-lock outlet. There’s also a TT-30 adapter included for added versatility.

Heavy-Duty Steel Construction That’s Built for Portability
Everything–from the heavy-duty cast-iron sleeve engine to the durable rolled steel tubing surround to the sturdy wheels–is built to last. Easy to move and store, the TG32P12 weighs 106 pounds and measures just 25.5 x 21.0 x 19.5 inches (LxWxH).

Outlets Feature Circuit-Breaker Protection
The generator offers several ways to connect your appliances or electrical equipment. There are two 120-volt outlets available for most of your everyday, low-wattage appliances, such as fans, TVs, computers, microwaves, and toasters. There’s also a convenient 240-volt twist-lock outlet for running single, higher-wattage appliances and electrical equipment, such as a water heaters or central air conditioners.

All of the outlets on the TG32P12 Portable Generator are circuit-breaker protected to eliminate the risk of power-surge damage, which can potentially ruin your appliances and electrical equipment.

The ETQ TG32P12 Portable Generator is backed by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

REVIEW OF GENERATOR – Robert E. Southard – LONG ISLAND NEW YORK
THE ORDERING PROCESS WAS A BIT CONFUSING DUE TO IMMEDIATE CHECKOUT WHICH AUTOMATICLY ADDED THE SHIPPING WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE. AFTER A FEW PHONE CALLS AND A PROMISE TO REMOVE THE FIRST ITEM AND BEING TOLD TO PLACE A NEW ORDER I NOW WAS GETTING TWO GENERATORS ONE WITH FREE SHIPPING AND THE SECOND ONE WITH SHIPPING. ANOTHER CALL WAS MADE AND AFTER A THREAT THAT THEY WOULD ONLY DO THIS ONE TIME THEY REMOVED THE SECOND GENERATOR WITH SHIPPING AND CREDITED MY CREDIT CARD. THE GENERATOR ARRIVED AND AFTER OPENING THE BOX I NOTICED TWO MOTOR MOUNTS WERE BROKEN. I HAVE CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AS OF TWO MONTHS I HAVE NOT RECEIVED NEW MOTOR MOUNTS. PERHAPS AMAZON CAN HELP SPEED UP MY MOTOR MOUNT REPLACEMENT. THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE, ROBERT

PS: I AM HOPING THE GENERATOR STARTS AFTER I REPLACE THE MOTOR MOUNTS
Great Value – Tall Brian – Michigan
This item shipped quickly, was easy to assemble, started right up when I filled it with approx 15 oz. of 10w30 oil and unleaded gas. The engine runs smooth; I was surprised how relatively quiet it was and how easy it was to move around with the handle and wheeling capability. You will need to fabricate a ground line from the generator for safety purposes. It handled my 6 circuits from my transfer switch with no problem i.e. with clean even power. It’s important to note that using the 4 pin 30 amp connector outlet (L14 30 type) will allow the generator to balance the different loads. The other 20amp connector outlet does not, according to the generator schematic. In summary, Iam impressed…great value for the money!

[Private journal entry written on July 2, 2009] I’m on vacation in Gig Harbor, Washington, at my sis

[Private journal entry written on July 2, 2009]

I’m on vacation in Gig Harbor, Washington, at my sister’s house. It is way out in the “boonies” . . . thick trees and underbrush on all sides of the yard, no neighbors in sight. There is a nice-sized waterfall outside, just off the old-fashioned porch that is meant for a handful of antique rocking chairs. The breeze coming through the trees is sweet with the sounds of birds fluttering and deer munching. The squirrels are having some kind of quarrel over something or another.

There is no TV (well, they have one, but they can’t get anything but a weather channel and a number of religious channels over the airwaves). Internet access is suspect. I am alone with nature, family and books. It is good.

The one noisemaker we have is my sister’s new three-month-old, four-pound (1.8kg) miniature dachshund named “Charlie”. He is into everything. He hasn’t learned to bark yet, but he makes up for it by tearing around the house like a wild banshee, grabbing his toys and running with them in circles until his hind feet go faster than his front feet and he wipes out in a curious show of head –> belly –> tail –> head –> belly –> tail –> head –> belly . .

We have to be very careful to keep track of Charlie’s whereabouts . . . he is the exact same size as my tennis shoe and he moves so quickly that it is very easy to step on him – which would be bad for the stepper and very bad for the miniature step-ee. What a cutie he is . . . I’ve included a few photos of him . . . I have to share the photos since I’m such a proud auntie!

In this peaceful setting, I have had a chance to think in peace. I’ve had an epiphany . .

It dawned on me that my intuition about what steps I need to take and what direction I need to head in my healing process has always been dead-on accurate. It is okay for me to trust my intuition – I do know what is best for me. I know it better than anyone else.

If and when I partner with another therapist, that therapist will have to honor and recognize the wisdom of my intuition. He or she will have to be willing to follow what I feel is best. I want that therapist to provide options, and to reflect back to me what I might not be able to see on my own. However, when it comes to deciding what action and overall direction is best for me, it will have to be my decision.

What I have realized is that I was not the “non-compliant” party in my therapist-client relationships (and I greatly fear being labeled “non-compliant” because it is equivalent with being “bad”). In actuality, it was my therapists who were the non-compliant parties. When I was very clear with them what options I believed were best for me and for my healing journey, they ignored and overrode my instincts and decisions. They dishonored my wisdom. They distrusted my instinct.

By attempting to bow to their wisdom, experience and education even when it felt inappropriate to me, I demonstrated a similar distrust for my own wisdom. Despite knowing it was not the best choice for me, I tried to ignore the suffocating feeling I had and do what I was told to do. I should have listened to that “trapped” feeling . . . there is good reason for my feeling that way – my body was telling me that it was not a good direction for me to take.

From now on, I choose to trust and follow my instinct and innate wisdom – if my therapist has an issue with that, then that therapist is not the therapist for me.

That epiphany lifts the burden of “required compliance” off my shoulders. What a huge relief.

And, this feels like a empowered position . . . like I’m taking responsibility for the direction of my healing path rather than leaving it up to “the professionals” who don’t know me. This feels good.

[Editorial note: You can read more about my empowering epiphany -- that I don't have to be a compliant client -- in my guest post at Evan's blog (Health and Wellbeing)]

A great article from Talent Management magazine:

Successful companies empower their employees rather than control them. Empowered employees are committed and more productive because they have a sense of ownership and take pride in their work. Leaders have the ability to bring out the best in their employees, and simply delegating authority is not enough. They can determine by their actions whether they will have empowered employees or compliant workers.

Mercedes-Benz has figured out a creative way to differentiate itself from the rest of the auto brand

Mercedes-Benz has figured out a creative way to differentiate itself from the rest of the auto brands in the Gulf region by going “Sharia” compliant. Teaming up with the UAE based dealers, Gargash and Al-Fahim, Mercedes launched two companies named Mercedes-Benz Finance Middle East and Mercedes-Benz Leasing Middle East which will offer buyers in the UAE a chance at financing their cars without going against any Islamic Sharia rules.

Due to the economic crisis, automakers have to think outside the box to aid their struggling network of dealers around the world. Quite creative if you ask me. Mercedes -Benz plan on rolling this concept out through the rest of the region some time in the future.

Who doesn’t have to make decisions? Private decisions? Job related/business decisions? No matt

Who doesn’t have to make decisions? Private decisions? Job related/business decisions?

No matter your age, position, job, we all have to make decisions almost on a day to day basis.
Decisions alternatives, even the straight forward ones, often have hidden/secondary effects, and most of the time are made more difficult by our perception, sentimental values etc.

Large corporations sometimes use highly sophisticated procedures to support their decisions on capital expenditure, investments, processes, and yet, oftentimes, they realize afterwards that the best option was not selected.

Not to dig the dagger in the wound or work on the obvious, but if the world went into the global economic recession and crisis we have endured, it was precisely because decision making was based on improper parameters.

The reason for these problems afflicting decision making is that upside and downside risks (upside= winning aspects, downside=failure aspects) are not properly accounted for each alternative, and alternatives are not properly compared among each other.

What you will find in the linked KISS (Keep it Simple, Stupid) Presentation is a summarized version of an introductory course on decision making. The considered technique is applicable to any type of decision and is a subset of the CDA/ESM methodology. In order to make it really simple, we had to simplify some areas to the bone (hence the recurring remarks about a mathematician most likely fainting when reading our explanations). More sophisticated and rigorous methods do exist (CDA/ESM), especially if you want to compare in detail long term alternatives and produce/evaluate their financial results. We have books, blogs, courses and web site talking about them, but the purpose here was to really bring a somewhat impervious subject to the point it make sense for everyone to use it on a day to day basis, with a minimum of remote supervision/coaching.

Welcome to the world of transparent, justifiable, decision making!

One law for the lion and the ox is tyranny – William Blake

At a site I often visit and contribute answers to questions called Answerology.com, I read a question from a man who asked “As your child grows up at what age do you expect to be able to hold them accountable for their disobedience or wrongs.” Looking at the question as I believe most would do, I would have probably answered the question with something akin to “It depends on the child” until I realized that according to many schools of thought surrounding accountability, including my own, I cannot hold another person accountable, that I can only hold myself accountable. I further believe that accountability is, for the most part, an unteachable quality, like discipline or integrity, yet it is a quality that can be instilled in a person at an early age by providing a safe, non-judgmental space for the person to properly access the consequences of their own behavior. Unfortunately for most of us, the demands of living leave us with little time to make that kind of environment available for our progeny and we surely cannot expect that state-funded public education or even most private or charter schools to have the where-with-all to providing such a safe non-judgmental environment for instilling qualities like accountability to thrive, so that both our child-rearing and educational system are left with relying on obedience and compliance in order to have the time to teach knowledge and skills needed to survive along with providing a meager amount of life-enrichment through activities like music, art and, dare I say, sports. Can all we ever hope for in our children is that they become obedient and compliant to the expectations of the society into which we have chosen to birth them? Here in, I believe, lies my own shadow of obedience/compliance, for I have chosen, for the most part, obedience and compliance over standing for my own accountability and integrity.

I recently spoke about a shadow I called virtue. I raised the question of whether or not virtue is a quality to which it is necessary to aspire if we are present to the idea that we are not separate from each other or from our source that some may call God, for if we really are all one, would we not always be acting in alignment for the highest good even without being able to consciously know what that good is? Are obedience and compliance virtuous and the only way to prevent lawlessness, unworkability and chaos? I say no, for I not only believe that I can, but also I believe that I actually do live in a world where integrity is simply the state or condition of being whole and complete and where I am accountable by honoring my word. What I mean by honoring my word is that if I am unable to keep my word I will communicate as soon as I know I am unable to keep my word to those who are counting on me and I will clean up any messes with those who counted on me that resulted from not keeping my word. From this state of wholeness, I believe that by honoring my word, I create workability.
