I just build myself a new computer but wanted a mac so I read online and finaly was able to get my hackintosh up and running. It took quite a bit of time to get everything working correctly but everything is running great now. What does that mean? It means that I will start posting all sorts of good things for you reading pleasure. Just wait…. you’ll see.

Well, just a start. I’ve just installed the safari 4 beta version on my mac.

This safari has a new interface, most notably by the position of the tabs, which is on the top of the window. It also adds new feature, the top site, which is quite a cool appearance. The cover flow design is now available for browsing the history and bookmarks. Also a new fantastic design.

However, for a beta release, there are some things that are not in the right spot, yet. Since I installed this, I found two things that might actually requires a little repair.

The tabbed browsing, which appears on the top, also works as the window-dragging. When I open lots of tabs, safari seems to hardly differentiate between opening the tab or dragging the window. Sometimes, I need to click on the tab few times until it opens. Annoyingly, sometimes it causes the whole window to minimize. Returned to its original position with the 4.0.2 update.

Hotmail, I opened my hotmail account and I clicked on Inbox. The next thing I can do is NOTHING. I can’t open any of my emails! I tried mozilla and the problem does not exist. So i think the the script within the safari doesn’t work that well with Hotmail. I switched the Hotmail message view to double column, and solve this problem.

Another thing, which is quite a bug to me, is the way the program handles the Top Sites feature. Apparently, unlike Opera’s ‘Speed Dial’, this feature actually based on the frequencies I visited the sites. I can pin the sites available on the list so it won’t be replaced with a new, more frequently-visited sites. Unfortunately, I am still unable to insert a NEW web address, instead of using the one from History.

Despite of these problems, there might be more problems to be found, since HEY, IT’S STILL BETA! As the final release available to public, hopefully things can be more satisfying and making web browsing more easier, fun, and of course, FASTER.

I used safari all the time and found that the interface and features are simple and user friendly. It doesn’t put too much unnecessary stuff that can actually burden the process. Just enough for surfing and streaming, with basic features such as history and bookmarks. Good enough for me. I don’t like the big buttons of “Back” “Forward” “History”, etc on the toolbar, along with the fancy colors.

Firefox gives you the flexibility to infinite customization, added with the add-ons that can be downloaded to support your needs. Apparently, I don’t need those stuff. But just in case, Firefox is there to help in times of need.

Opera. I’ve tried it, and apparently, IT IS QUITE FAST. I used Opera Mini in my cellphone. However, somehow, I still love Safari more. Feels more like home. I haven’t got any feeling that the opera is faster, but opera gives a little too much features and details of the web. The full screen feature is quite nice, but requires quitting full screen mode to type a new address. the button sizes and the space provided doesn’t seem proportional to me…

So, still lovin’ Safari. ^^
