No problem you can do it. Here, i am mention Step-by-Step Procedure for Formatting your PC and Re-installing Operating System (OS) i.e. Windows 8. Same procedure is followed in Windows 7 also. The only difference is, for installing windows 8 you need windows 8 DVD and for installing Windows 7, windows 7 DVD.

BEFORE FORMATTING:

Now you can start Formatting Process.

So, Let’s Start…….

• Plug in your laptop to power socket (optional)

Note: It is recommended Plug in before Beginning your installation if you have poor backup.

• Insert Bootable Windows DVD.

• Restart your PC

• Press F12 (for Dell), F9 (for HP, Toshiba) immediately when your computer restarts.

Note: To Boot from CD/DVD you have to press F keys. For your laptop when your computer restarts; at the left or right corner of your screen “Press ……. key for Boot option” (mostly in new laptops) is displayed. In some laptop “Press ….. key for SETUP” (mostly in old laptops) is displayed.

If you are prompt for Boot option, it is very simple and you can directly choose ”Boot from CD/DVD” by up and down arrow key, hit Enter key for conformation.

If you are prompt for SETUP, then in Setup menu, go to Boot Option and make CD/DVD as first Priority with the help of Up, Down, Left, Right arrow keys for moving and Enter key or F10 key for conformation (because mouse doesn’t work); and again restart.

• You will be prompt to press any key. So, press any key as your wish.

• Be patient, you setup will begin soon.

• Select “US” language in all fields.

• Click “Next” and then click ”Install Now”

• Select the Operating System Bit i.e. x86 (for 32 bit) or x64 (for 64 bit)

Note: For choosing Bit, if you have equal to or less than 2 GB RAM then you should go for x86 i.e 32 bit and if you have more than 2 GB RAM go for x64 i.e. 64 bit Operating System.

• Now, accept Terms and Condition as you do for normal programs installation and click “Next”

• It is better to choose “Customize Install” than Upgrade because  you get option for formatting the specific Drive

• Select the desired Drive (C:)

Note: If you have Renamed your C Drive as Windows 7 then select Windows 7

•  Click “Drive Option (advanced)” for formatting the selected Drive and click “Next”

• Your installation will Begin.

• It takes about 20-30 min to complete installation.Wait until your PC restart.

• Restarting is displayed on your screen

• You will be prompt for PC Name and click “Next” after providing name

• Now, select “Customize” and fill all the required information and click “Next” when done

What should students be really focusing on? Somebody asked me this question recently – Imagine students who are in 2nd or 3rd year of their degree course right now. They’ll spend a few years finishing college, and a few years just learning the ropes at their first job. So it will really be about 5 years before their career really starts. What will the software technology world be like at that time, and what are the skills that students can work on acquiring right now to ensure that they are well positioned to thrive?

Of course, 5 years is a long time, and to quote Neils Bohr, prediction is very difficult, especially about the future. Still I think some general trends are clear, and there are some other timeless skills that are worth looking at. Based on that I’m giving my list below.

Let me not bias your thoughts. Before you read my list, skip to the comments section below, and put down your list. Then read my list and critique it again in the comments. Hopefully we can have a good discussion that will benefit students.

So, here’s my list of areas students need to be thinking about:

The next billion customers: The IT revolution has probably reached a billion people of the world so far. In the next 5 years, it will reach the next billion. These will be a very different set of people. Many of them will be illiterate – so you need to focus on non-text, non-English interfaces – video, animations, and voice recognition. Search for “English Seekho” to get an idea of what I mean. Most won’t have money or electricity for computers, so mobile devices will rule – so you need to start playing with mobile platforms like Android. In general, search for the “the next billion” and you’ll find some interesting material put together by the likes of Nokia, and MIT giving you ideas on what to focus on.

Usability: As IT touches the lives of more and more people, less and less of them will be “computer savvy”, and less and less of them will view computing devices as something that needs to be learnt. Consequently, the products that will succeed will be the ones that are easy to use. And making something easy to use is rather difficult. It is a sub-discipline of computer science, and there is a lot of theory, and a bunch of well-defined algorithms and practices you can use to make things easy to use. The whole area is called HCI (Human Computer Interaction), and UCD (User Centered Design) is a part of it. It’s an area that you must be familiar with

Computer Science Fundamentals: This will never go out of fashion, and yes, when I look at students coming out of our colleges, this appears to be a rather neglected area. Far too much emphasis on specific programming languages and specific “technologies” is a mistake. Whatever the future holds, you will be well served by knowing the basic theory of computer sciences. Learn data-structures and algorithms. If you don’t have a favorite data-structure, and an algorithm that you find beautiful, then your computer science education is incomplete. If, after seeing an algorithm, your first thought is not about the complexity of the algorithm (O(n), O(log n), etc.), then you need to hit your books again. If you’ve only learned Java and C#, and you don’t really understand pointers, heaps, stacks, you will sooner or later be at a disadvantage. Understand the basics. And while you’re at it, also learn mathematics and statistics.

Presentation skills: This is not a computer science skill, but this is one of the most important skills that computer science students are missing. You must treat presentation as equally important, or more important than your program, design, and algorithms. And you must spend as much time learning presentation (from books, in classes, and in practice) as you spent on programming languages, and computer science subjects. I’m sure you haven’t done that, hence this item in my list. You should know how to write well. Not just papers and documents, but much more importantly, emails, and blog posts, and facebook wall postings, and tweets. You must think about what the user/reader/client wants to know (instead of what you know and want to tell). And of course, you must know how to speak well. How to tell a story instead of listing some arcane facts about your work. How to leave out stuff that you find extremely interesting, but the listener doesn’t.

Economics: Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert says: “When you have a working knowledge of economics, it’s like having a mild super power.” Basically, if you understand the fundamentals of economics, you can see and understand what drives people and technologies and success and failure a lot better than people who do not understand it. I hated the fact that I was made to study economics in IIT for my computer science course. It seemed like a complete waste of my time. Now, looking back, I think it was probably the most important course.

“Shakespeare gets a bad rap. A lot of people say ‘I don’t like Shakespeare, he’s over my head,’ or ‘Shakespeare is boring,”’ said Ross Williams, the artistic director of the New York Shakespeare Exchange, the non-profit organization behind The Sonnet Project.

“I wondered what happens if we share Shakespeare in really easily digestible chunks so people can get used to having him in their lives?” he added.

Shakespeare’s 154 sonnets, first published in 1609 explore themes such as the love, beauty, and death.

Different locations across New York were selected for each sonnet, including the World Trade Center Memorial and the Brooklyn Bridge. Actors and directors and text coaches helped to interpret the themes.

To mark the launch of the app, 10 short films will be released on Monday, and a new one every few days after that. About 75 more films have been completed or are in the works. Users can receive notifications with the iPhone app when a new one is released.

Another iPad app released last year called The Sonnets by William Shakespeare includes performances by actress Kim Cattrall, of “Sex and the City” fame, Patrick Stewart of “Star Trek” and British actor Stephen Fry.

Created by Britain’s Touch Press, it also features commentary and information about the sonnets. The app, which costs $6.99, also includes a replica of the original sonnets, and interviews with scholars and Shakespeare experts.

Cambridge University Press also launched two new iPad apps for Shakespeare lovers in February as part of their “Explore Shakespeare” series, including the plays “Twelfth Night” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Other plays in the series include “Macbeth” and “Romeo and Juliet.” Each cost $13.99 and feature audio performances, commentary and other interactive content.

Williams said the New York Shakespeare Exchange’s mission is to bring Shakespeare to the masses. He hopes that by introducing Shakespeare’s sonnets in small bites people will appreciate and understand the works.

The future of the written word

Technology aims to make our lives simpler and easier by reducing human effort and almost doubling production. Looking at the web alone, we can observe an overproduction of words and digital technology. A single event or an idea can have numerous reports from hundreds websites, written both by software and human. We have more word than we can actually read, and information more than we really need.

There are only two possible futures for the written word, given this situation: 1) the quality of the written word will disintegrate, 2) it will develop and flourish towards finer taste in writing and literature.

Spam, spam, content spam!

Because of the large demand for web writing and copy writing, almost anyone can do the job now. Nearly everyone is invited to do the job — simply create a blog, build a website and ta-da! We have a new stream of web content.

But what about the quality of the write-up? Do we really want to see endless counts of grammar lapses, fluff, poorly structured content?

If we keep on producing content spam, or irrelevant, low-quality content, we may kill our own era of Information-Communication. Just like when civilizations develop poor politics and poor cultures, our era may die and collapse.

Saving the future of the digital word

On the other side, we can turn the development of our era into something more appealing: an appetite for quality content and reliable, useful information.

Instead of writing shallow content, why not produce quality articles, with the help of qualified writers and well-trained web developers? Instead of competing on who gets to spam the most and waste the widest space, why not focus on being competitive, coherent, creative?

Looking beyond and ahead

Our time is the age of Information-Communication. Towns and cities are never bared of messages and images; information is scattered with every screen and every billboard. Everyday, we are pulled to the writer/speaker-reader/listener relationship, willingly or not.

Some of us are born into this era, some are not. But we can agree that all of us are affected and submerged in the trends of our time. What does the future hold, for our humanity and literacy? What do we choose to do about it?

Google I/O 2013 has come and gone without major developments affecting the company’s two primary platforms, Android and Chrome, but the developer conference nonetheless demonstrated how Google is outpacing its competitors.

Certainly, that’s evident in the numbers Google provided, 900 million Android activations to date and 750 million users of Chrome worldwide. But such statistics only sketch the outline of Google’s success.

Google began as a search company and seventeen years later, the head of the company’s search technology, Amit Singhal opened his portion of the Google I/O keynote by taking about the end of search as we know it. Even if that’s more rhetoric than reality — Google will still be in the search ad business no matter how search changes for the foreseeable future — it reveals a willingness to take risks that Apple and Microsoft seem to be unwilling or unable to match.

Singhal described how in his youth he was inspired by the computer on Star Trek, a machine capable of conversing and understanding questions. Google is developing something comparable: mobile VP Johanna Wright demonstrated a future version of Google Search that will support “hotwording,” listening for a phrase like “OK Google” and then treating the words that follow as a query.

Someone from Apple should have been making that announcement. The company launched Siri, its voice-driven personal assistant software, in October 2011. Siri was seen as a sign that Apple was ready to challenge Google’s search dominance by betting on a future where spoken queries matter more than text queries. But Apple hasn’t moved quickly enough and now finds Google pushing the technological envelope and advancing related post-search services like Google Now.

Then Apple’s attempt to compete with Google Maps went badly awry. As Apple works to recover from the embarrassing debut of its own Maps app, Google has launched a preview of the next version of Google Maps, and this time it’s personal, or rather, personalized.

Part of the problem is that Apple and Microsoft (not to mention Facebook) spend far too much energy keeping Google out instead of deploying services that are better than Google’s.

Communities around the country are hungry for high-speed broadband and falling all over themselves to become the next Google Fiber city. Google rightly recognizes how much Americans resent the telephone and cable monopolies, with their high fees, lack of options and poor service. Apple and Microsoft could have launched similar initiatives, if they had more expansive ambitions and were more willing to challenge existing business models. Really, there’s something ludicrous about how Microsoft makes billions selling more or less the same word processor, spreadsheet and email client to everyone every two or three years.

Where is Apple Street View? It doesn’t exist (yet). Microsoft rightly understood the vast usefulness of Google Street View and launched its own, Microsoft Streetside. But the company found a way to limit adoption by requiring people to download its Silverlight software, now slated for extinction because of poor uptake.

Apple’s iCloud also suffers in comparison to Google’s cloud offerings, as has been documented in various reports. Microsoft, at least, has shown it can compete in the cloud, even if it’s too reliant on Office as a way to rope customers in.

Meanwhile, Google is pushing ahead with its Cloud Platform to compete with Amazon Web Services. The company opened Google Compute Engine to the public, added PHP support to App Engine and introduced Cloud Datastore.

Google gave developers at I/O a Chromebook Pixel, a high-end Chrome OS laptop that should set off alarm bells at Apple: Despite the fact that this is a niche luxury product designed to show developers how the Web can work with a high-resolution touchscreen, it’s proof that Apple cannot rely on aesthetic superiority as a means of product differentiation, the way it could when the competition consisted of Windows PC vendors with an affinity for beige plastic.

Google also launched Google Play game services, for Android, iOS and the Web. Apple’s focus on its own platforms will hurt it here: Given a choice between integrating the Apple-only Game Center and the cross-platform Google Play services, developers are likely to lean Google if they’re not exclusively committed to iOS. Apple looked outward with iTunes by creating a Windows version; it should have launched an Android version of Game Center instead of burying its head in the sand.

Despite the absence of a significant Android update, Microsoft isn’t any closer to changing the balance of power in the smartphone market. Apple at least is doing well here, though Android’s relentless rise has to be keeping Apple executives awake. Google also beat Apple to the punch by launching its streaming music service, the inelegantly named Google Play Music All Access, before Apple could launch one of its own.

Google CEO Larry Page insisted the competition between major Internet companies isn’t a zero sum game, but it seems doubtful that the majority of consumers will be keen to pay monthly subscription fees for multiple streaming music services.

There was a lot of attention paid to Google+ at Google I/O, particularly to improvements made to Google+ Photos. Though Facebook remains the leader in social networking, Google’s vision of social computing is no longer laughable, because Google has the power to force participation and because some services, like Hangouts, are really good. Google+ is unavoidable, for better or worse. But Apple and Microsoft have nothing comparable, outside of a few strong stand-alone services like iMessage and Skype.

All told, Google’s announcements were modest, but the company’s ambitions keep getting bolder. Google’s competitors need to wake up to the fact that complaining to regulators and hiding behind technical barriers to entry won’t save them. They need to move faster and compete more vigorously.

In first press (Windows + r) Just right here “regedit”-

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrrentControlSet -> Control. Search for StorageDevicePolicies-

If “StorageDevicePolicies” doesn’t exist, then add a new key named StorageDevicePolicies. Now navigate to that and create a new D-WORD (32 bit), WriteProtect.
Here The process-

Click right mouse on “Control” and here a screenshot of that-

Now Change the value of the key WriteProtect to 0.

Then click right mouse on “My Computer” and select manage
Now select from here “Disk management”
Then choose your desire drive which you want to format I hope will work now

1. Masukan CD Ubuntu dalam CD drive.

Setelah memilih bahasa klik instal untuk memulai menginstal ubuntu atau klik try ubuntu jika ingin mencoba terlebih dahulu.

2. Persiapan untuk menginstal ubuntu

• Dianjurkan untuk memasang power komputer anda
• Pastikan anda mempunyai space yang cukup untuk ubuntu
• Dapat memilih update saat instal atau tidak, Jika mau update harus terhubung dengan internet baik dengan kabel atau dengan wireless

3. Set up Wireless

Jika tidak terhubung ke internet dianjurkan untuk menset up wireless

4. Tentukan space untuk menginstall

Ada tiga pilihan yang dapat dilakukan

• Install Ubuntu alongside another operating system (Buat dual OS, windows dan ubuntu)
• Delete your existing operating system and replace it with Ubuntu (Windows akan terhapus) atau
• Something else (Menginstal di drive lain seperti disk eksternal dll)

5. Mulai menginstall

Dengan asumsi anda memilih untuk membuat dual OS dikomputer maka tahap selanjutnya ada disuruh memilih drive yang akan digunakan. Bila anda tidak memiliki partisi untuk linux dapat mengatur partisi dengan menggeser batas pembagai antara windows dan Linux seperti pada gambar. Ubuntuk membutuhkan space minimal 4.5 GB disarankan membuat lebih besar dari itu untuk menampung file dan software lainya. Klik install now untuk memulai.

6. Pilih lokasi anda

Jika anda terhubung dengan internet pemilihan lokasi akan dilakukan software secara otomatis. Cek lokasi jika sudah benar klik continue

7. Pilih keyboard yang anda gunakan

Jika anda tidak yakin silahkan gunakan Detect Keyboard Layout

8. Masukan data anda, username dan password

9. Tunggu proses instalasi selesai

Anda akan diberikan pengenalan ubuntu sewaktu proses penginstalan sedang berjalan

10. Instalasi selesai dan silahkan restart komputer untuk menggunakan Ubuntu

Now while any new processor launch gets people excited in terms of more horsepower being available , here we also expect better integrated graphics performance and much reduced power consumption. And it’s that last aspect, together with the timing of this launch that makes this a significant milestone on the computing timeline, in my opinion.

You see, we’ve been hearing recently about how we are now in this “post-pc” era, and how tablets and phones are the computers of the 2010’s. Its something we certainly see , people walking around with massive smart phones and, in meetings, everyone holding an iPad.
But what is also clear to me is that these devices haven’t replaced PC’s for most people. Maybe it has with college students, but not in the enterprise. They are simply complimentary devices.

Enter Windows 8. When launched, I really thought that Windows 8 tablets would change all this. I felt that tablets like Surface would be to notebooks what notebooks were to desktops 10 years ago. We didn’t see that happen in a big way , because the launch of Windows 8 was only the first step.The second important step that I feel will drive this will be the launch of Haswell. Why ?

As I said , this is the next milestone and I can’t wait. Of course , we will then have the improved Windows 8.1 released after that and we’ll then be truly into the “PC-Plus” era…..

This is usually a problem that windows users come across, so let’s review a few steps you can undertake to keep your computer clean after deinstalling software.
There is one thing I would like to get straight right away, a good installer asks you how you want to uninstall. If you select uninstall all including settings and preferences, it will as a matter of fact do just that, without leaving any leftovers on your hard drive. Sadly, installers like this are hard to come by. Most of the time you are on your own. So here is what you do…

1. Check your program files
Go to the location where the software was installed, the default install software of most windows software is program files, open this folder (probably under the c:\ drive) and check if the folder where you initially installed the software still exists. If you did already delete the program via the uninstaller, you can just delete this folder.

2. Check you profile folder
Since windows vista you have a hidden folder in your profile folder called appdata. Make sure your windows explorer is set to show hidden files (file >> extra >> folder options >> display >> show hidden files and folders). To open the appdata folder, click start, click your username and there it is, a hidden folder called AppData. Open it and you’ll find 3 sub folders, Local, LocalLow and Roaming. Check in all 3 of these folders if there is a folder which contains the name of the software or the name of the publisher of the software. You can probably delete this as well

3. Check the registry
Push the windows key + r and type REGEDIT, then hit enter. On the left hand screen you’ll see a folder structure. There are 2 folders you need to check: HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. These both have a software folder, open them and check if there is a subfolder there with the name of the software you’ve just uninstalled. If it is you can most likely delete it.

Once you’ve done all this, you can be rather sure that you got most of the software leftovers.
