Durante a Computex 2008 a VIA fez uma demonstração de deixar até os seus maiores fãns de bobeira, se tinha uma coisa que ninguem esperava de um processador VIA, ainda mais pelo seu passado era ver um deles rodando games pesados, muito menos rodando um game que é hoje usado como plataforma de teste para os hardwares mais pesados já lançados e que ainda estão para vir.

Mas ela foi lá e fez ! Eu quase não acreditei quando vi, parece que a empresa realmente não esta para brincadeiras, ela mudou, melhorou e veio para arrasar !(desculpem a empolgação é que fiquei muito feliz quando vi isso rsrs)

Bem, usando um VIA Nano 1.8Ghz 800Mhz, Placa Mini-ITX 2.0 Chip CN896, 2 GB en RAM 667Mhz, Nvidia 8600GT a VIA colocou pra funcionanar ninguem mais ninguem menos que Crysis, um game extremamente pesado.

Para uma plataforma de apenas um núcleo e de baixo consumo que mede apenas 18×18 cm, no está nada de mal, e se for assim, ela apaga de vez o fantasma dos Cyrix III e C3.

During their keynote speeches on the first day of Computex 2008, executives from Microsoft and Intel delivered very compelling arguments for the need to “mobilize” all the technological platforms that enable Web 2.0, allowing remote access to local servers and to infinite amounts of knowledge and resources for the largest number of people, everywhere on the globe, and on-demand.

They focused on the new wave of truly portable ”netbooks”, entry-level PCs that are light in weight and price; on the new energy-efficient, miniaturized processors used to power them (like the new Intel Atom series); they spoke of the necessity of working with common, compatible formats that allow full intercommunication between all digital devices, in the home and on the go.

They spent plenty of time covering the exciting new developments of the Wi-MAX standard—which, incidentally, is being championed right here in Taipei, Taiwan, through huge investments from the Taiwanese government and the many local technology powerhouses—a new way of thinking “wireless”, featuring blazing speeds and enabling, among other things, multiple streaming channels of live video in 720p HD resolution (trust us, it’s VERY impressive), and live tracking of (and intercommunication between) countless devices on detailed, interactive global maps.

These affordable, power-efficient, small screen devices, based on the ground breaking low-power micro-architecture of the Intel® Atom™ processor, and Ubuntu allow consumers to enjoy email, instant messaging, Internet surfing and on-line access to photos, videos or music with an affordable, reliable device.

Ubuntu Netbook Remix is built to provide a superb user experience leveraging Ubuntu’s reputation for delivering operating systems that ‘just work’ in the desktop environment. The remix is based on the standard Ubuntu Desktop Edition but with a launcher that allows users to get on-line more quickly and have faster access to their favourite applications. Ubuntu Netbook Remix will enable device manufacturers to get to market rapidly with a compelling software solution on netbooks, as they have a standard user interface (UI) that is built on a widely used operating system underpinned by a globally recognised brand. Canonical is already working with a number of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to deliver the software into the market on devices later in 2008. Demonstration versions will be available at Computex.

Ubuntu Netbook Remix leverages Moblin technologies optimized for the Intel Atom processor. Intel and Canonical are working to create a next generation computing experience across a new category of affordable Internet-centric, portable devices; including Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs), netbooks, nettops and embedded devices based on Intel Atom processor technology. Canonical is a founding contributor to Moblin and will continue to work with Intel to ensure the best open source applications become available to users and OEMs through Moblin.

“Our goal is to deliver a superb user experience while making it simple and cost-effective for device manufacturers to be able to bring their devices to the consumer marketplace,” explained Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu. “Ubuntu has in a very short period transformed the perception of the Linux desktop experience. Many more people will experience Linux for the first time through these devices so working with Canonical, using our UI and leveraging software from the Moblin project is the best way to ensure the netbook experience is a success.”

“At Intel, we see netbooks as an opportunity to expand basic Internet usage throughout the world through simple and affordable devices for consumers,” said Doug Fisher, vice president, Software and Solutions Group for Intel. “The combination of Ubuntu Netbook Remix with Moblin technologies optimized for the Intel Atom processor will deliver a good Internet and media experience on Intel-based netbooks.”

Yesterday afternoon, Sean Maloney, Intel’s Executive Vice President, addressed the crowd gathered at the Taipei International Conference Center for Computex 2008’s keynote speech. He was giddy with anticipation at what the future holds for the computer industry, at the potential for growth, and the unlimited possibilities that the new technologies offer.

Sean spoke at length about Web 2.0—the Internet used as a platform for the sharing of knowledge and the exchange of, well, virtually everything. He touched upon ”the explosion” of video content, of its ever-growing, ubiquitous presence on the internet and on everybody’s hard drives, and of the current trend toward high definition: “HD everything” is coming, and will be everywhere soon.

The new Intel Atom processors, geared toward ultra-portability, and the soon-to-be-everywhere WiMAX wireless networks are leading the way toward more mobility and accessibility, and everybody in the digital business is investing great resources into making this mobilization successful.

C’est au Computex 2008 que Canonical a décider de présenter les premières images officielles de Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Cette version est conçu spécialement pour les petits Netbook tel que l’EeePC, l’Aspire One et ce genre d’ordinateur à la mode. On en sait pas trop encore mais il est dit qu’on pourra se connecter à internet encore plus vite, que c’est optimisé pour les processeurs Intel Atom mais que ça ne viendra que pour plus tard en 2008.
