It is easy to be an emulator, just go with the flow. Don’t rock the boat. Chill out and don’t ask questions. The emulator is driven by a desire to be accepted, approved, and applauded. He fears rejection, criticism, being left out, or being called “judgmental.”

An impactor challenges and influences the ideas and opinions around her. She “speaks the truth in love” by boldly stating her opinions and attempting to convince others of her point of view. She has a solid belief system and is on a mission to convey her insights to others, no matter what the social cost.  An impactor is a missionary, influencing others; not a mission field, being brainwashed by society.

Nowadays we are bombarded with newspapers, television, billboards, radio, movies, junk mail, blogs, and spam email, as well as friends, neighbors, family, and coworkers — trying to get us to embrace popular (but self-destructive) behaviors and ideas.   Emulators gleefully embrace and follow societies self-destructive trends.  Impactors lovingly disagree and persuasively pursue purity, righteousness, & holiness.

We are constantly being influenced to lie, cheat, lust, abort babies, be greedy, get high, engage in cheapo sex, be vulgar, applaud sinful behavior, gamble, compromise, reject religion, look at pornography, insult others, cuss, and on and on.  If we publicly disagree with these behaviors, we are criticized and called “judgmental.”  (However, the concept of not judging, in no way implies that we should pretend other people are faultless or that all behaviors are equal.)

Society’s brainwashing never lets up. In such a pushy culture as ours, a neutral or passive position will be pulled into the popular parade of the perversion of the principles of morality accepted by the vast majority of the world’s cultures through out history. Only those willing to boldly head in a different direction can avoid marching with the modern mass media messages.

Emulators abound all around us. But the impactors are few.  Which are you?
