I’m randomly watching S4E2 of Lost. As a refresher…it’s the episode where we get the flashbacks for Daniel, Miles, Frank, and Charlotte. Okay, if you still don’t know…it’s called “Confirmed Dead.” It’s got me really thinking about the show. So I’m going to ramble a bit about some thoughts about Lost that I’m having. At work today, I actually thought a lot about Lost and some theories, but I’ve forgotten them now, lol. I’ll try to remember…

• We see a young girl that possibly matches Charlotte’s description in 1974 Dharmaville. We know Jin and SawFleur are still a vital part of society in 1977. I think we will see Jin and the Young Charlotte develop a relationship (as a way of coping with the fact his own child is away). As a part of that relationship, Jin will teach the child to speak Korean. Of course…why didn’t Charlotte recognize Jin when she came to the Island in 2004? Then again, if she was young…she may have forgotten. Of course, she doesn’t realize about the time travelling yet, so she couldn’t possibly realize who Jin, Sawyer, or Miles are. I hope we get more answers for that. We’ll see.
• Do you remember back in “Par Avion” (S3E12) when Mikhail is recalling the names of Sayid, Kate, and Locke? He says this to Locke: “But you John Locke, you I might have a fleeting memory of, but I must be confused, because the John Locke I know was paral—” He’s cut off by Danielle. I wonder if the fleeting memory he has of Locke is of that of a leader when he first arrives to the Island…
• I read a theory last night/this morning asking if Sawyer, Jin, Juliet, Miles, Hurley, Jack, Kate, and presumably Daniel (that we’ve confirmed are in 1977) will be killed during the Purge. Interesting. We’re told by Horace in “Cabin Fever” (S4E11) that he’s been dead for 12 years. That would put the Purge (where we see Horace die ["The Man Behind the Curtain" (S3E20)]) at 1992. That would mean that in 25 of so remaining episodes that we’ll cover 15 years of Island History. In response to that Theory…I think this will be a temporary stop for the the Losties. In the first episode this season, “Because You Left” (S5E1)…we see Daniel in the orchid station being constructed. Earlier in the episode, we see Dr. Marvin Candle/Edgar Hallowax/Mark Wickmund/Pierre Chang filming a video for the Arrow station. Most of the films have the copyright date of 1980 or so. It’s feasable that the Losties stay around Dharmaville for three years, but then realize that the Orchid is being built, and they have an insider to try to get into the Frozen Donkey Wheel chamber to flash them through time…so they’ll be gone by the time the Purge comes around. Just a theory, of course.
• The Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack brought up a great theory this week. Jack thinks that the Submarine isn’t the true way on and off the Island. In all actuality…we’ve never seen the Submarine in motion. Juliet was drugged and woke up after the Submarine had “docked.” Interesting. I’m willing to buy into that theory…but…we’ll see. lol.
• I’ve not really addressed the Ajiries much. A lot of people think that they are in the present day. I’m not so sure. I didn’t see a single modern thing in the Hydra office. However, that don’t mean squat, I guess. How can I explain the disappearing from the Plane? I can’t. lol. However, if Locke is supposed to be the leader of the Others…and Ben made mistakes, then could the Island be correcting itself and placing Locke there as a replacement for Widmore instead of Ben?

My head hurts and my nose is bleeding now, lol. Just kidding, lol. Seriously…this is a great season of Lost, and I can’t wait two weeks until “Namaste.”

According to WRAL-TV this morning – Forrestry crews fighting a brushfire on Sunday July 13, 2008, found a shallow grave containing charred human remains near Sneads Ferry, NC.  Holley Lynn Wimunc’s family issued a statement confirming that the remains belonged to Holley.

Holley’s husband, John Wimunc, has been charged with first degree arson for setting fire to her apartment.  Another marine, Kyle Alden, has also been charged.

Forresty service crews were fighting a brushfire near Sneads Ferry, NC when they stumbled across the shallow grave containing the remains of Holley Lynn Wimunc.  Sneads Ferry is near Camp Lejeune.

You know I’ve blogged about lost before, so, for those of you who haven’t been watching season 4 (and who want to know the secrets) I’ve typed a full summary of episodes 1-7. (Hint: Pay attention and read carefully because this gets a little confusing…)
O.K. Season 3 ended with a confusing, creepy Jack flash-forward. Apparently, he is one of the Oceanic 6, who are the only people to get off the island in the future. The rest of the Oceanic 6 were revealed and are: Hurly, Sayid, Kate, Sun and Jin. Here’s the really weird part. Kate secretly brought Aaron to the real world, saying that he was her sun.
In episode 1, the 815 people split into two parts. The Lockers and the Jack followers. The lockers want nothing to do with the boat people, and the Jack followers want nothing more than to be rescued. The lockers leave to go to the barracks (or other-vill) at the end of the episode.
The people on the boat are truly “not who they say they are,” and, in my opinion, it’s the “beginning of the end.” First of all, in episode 1, Daniel, one of the boat people, landed on the island. In episode 2, we found the rest of the boaters, and they are, Charlotte, Miles, and Frank. It was revealed that rescuing the 815 people wasn’t one of there “primary objectives.”
In episode 4, Miles has been captured by the Lockers and wants a surprise meeting with Ben (who is also captured). Kate (who likes to switch between groups) helps Miles get it. Miles is blackmailing Ben because apparently, capturing Ben is the boat people’s “primary objective.” Miles wants 3.2 million dollars in exchange for telling the rest of the boat people that Ben is already dead. I don’t think that’ll happen because they’re both in custody. Also in the episode, Ben reveals to John that he has a spy on the newcomer’s boat.
In episode 4, at Jack’s side of the island. Desmond and Sayid actually get to leave the island on a helicopter, and in episode 7 they find Ben’s man on the boat. It’s Michael. That’s it for 1-7.

Atencion: Spoilers de la cuarta temporada de Lost

El 31 de enero empezó la cuarta temporada de Lost, y a mi, como fanático (me puedo considerar uno) me encantaron los por ahora tres capítulos que salieron: The Beginning Of The End, Confirmed Dead y The Economist. Mi muy resumido resumen del resumen de los capitulos.

En estos tres capitulos nos presentan a muchos personajes nuevos: Mathew Abbadon, un raro con los ojos inyectados en sangre que tortura psicologicamente a Hurley y manda a los Otros Volumen II a la Isla. Daniel Faraday, un físico que llora al ver que el avión fue encontrado; Frank Lapidus, un piloto que dice que el piloto del 815 encontrado no es real; Charlotte Lewis, una arqueologa que encuentra un oso polar de Dharma en el medio de un desierto de Túnez y sonríe al ver el brazalete de la estación Hidra; Miles Straume, un medium violento y extraño, Minkowski, que no le vimos la cara pero sabemos que esta en el carguero.

Tambien nos ponen dos flashworwards: 4×01 de Hurley, que ve a Charlie que le dice que “ellos” (¿quienes?!) nececitan su ayuda, con Jack que lo visitó en el manicomio para ver si “iba a decir” no se que cosa de la isla y Hurley le dice que “el” quiere que vuelvan. Muchas preguntas por responder.  Despues esta Sayid, que ahora mata gente por encargo de… ¡¿Ben?! Si, señor. No sabemos a quien esta matando, yo creo que a gente de Dharma, o algo así, enemigos de Ben y de la Isla.

En la isla los losties se dividieron en dos, por un lado el jefe es Locke y por el otro, naturalmente, Jack. Hay una diferencia de 31 minutos  entre el exterior y el interior de la isla. Eso me impacto sobremanera. El experimento de Faraday fue increíble. Despues, Sayid salió de la isla, el primer lostie que hace eso, pero es seguro que va a volver. Los Otros II estan buscando a Ben, no se sabe para qué.

Bueno, esto es lo que me parece mas importante (si me acuerdo de mas cosas nítidas las voy a agregar) y lo que mas me acuerdo. Ahora hay que esperar a ver Eggtown, que dicen que va a estar increíble.

PD: Aprovecho para avisar que voy a empezar una seccion o tal vez un blog nuevo, voy a pensarlo, totalmente dedicado/a a Lost, y recomiendo unas páginas muy buenas sobre Lost: los6deoceanic (los seis mejores momentos de los capitulos), Lostzilla, DarkUFO (en ingles), LostPedia (La enciclopedia de Lost).

Dopo una prima puntata deludente, la seconda e la terza sono davvero splendide.In crescendo.La trama si infittisce di nuovo e il futuro dei sopravvissuti è sempre più oscuro. Cosa ci riserverà l’isola? Avremmo risposte ad ogni nostro interrogativo?

I am so sorry that I haven’t written about LOST yet. I definately watched it…and loved it of course. But im not going to blog about it now…instead if you havent already go read one of JOpinionated’s two posts about Confirmed Dead.

I do have to say that LOST fans are the most hard-core tv show fans I have ever experienced. Check out www.lostpedia.com and you will know exactly what I mean. The attention to detail is out of this world.

Lost is a United States serial drama television series that follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, after a passenger jet flying between Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, United States crashes somewhere in the South Pacific. Each episode typically features a primary storyline on the island as well as a secondary storyline from another point in a character’s life. The show was created by Damon Lindelof, J. J. Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber, and is filmed primarily on location in Oahu, Hawaii. The pilot episode was first broadcast on September 22, 2004. Since then, three seasons have aired. The show is produced by ABC Studios, Bad Robot Productions and Grass Skirt Productions and airs on the ABC Network in the United States. Its incidental music is composed by Michael Giacchino. The current executive producers are Abrams, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Jack Bender and Carlton Cuse. Because of its large ensemble cast and the cost of filming in Hawaii, the series is one of the most expensive on television.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

As a lot of other viewers, I was hotly anticipating the new season of Lost. However, since the WGA strike, I thought that they would simply choose to cancel the season, since with only 8 episodes shot and produced, fans would be disappointed. I think that possibly ABC might choose to produce the rest of the season this year and air it. Some of the networks will air shows during the summer. This is possible for Lost.

The second episode centers on the arrival of the new people on the island. We learn why they are here. Ben acts out. Locke wants to make a detour. Jack and Kate are able to reverse their situation, but still help out Daniel.

Daniel isn’t very good at duplicity. He’s a bad liar and Kate and Jack are well aware of this. Thanks to Juliette and Sayid, they get the upper hand.

This episode is told from the viewpoint of the new characters. We see bits and pieces on how this expedition was mounted by Matthew Abaddon, the lawyer who comes to talk with Hurley in the future while he is in the nut house.

We also learn that Naomi has been lying. However we do not know to what extent. The flashforwards paint a strange picture of what happened to the losties and who made it off the island alive. This episode’s flashforwards focus on the new characters and what happens to them after the island.

We find out why Ben was adamant about not contacting the people from the boat.

Someone is using a ROV to probe the depths of the ocean. They find Oceanic 815. It is probing the depths in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Bali.

A guy named Sam is watching the story on TV. He looks very upset. He was on a helicopter. He was pushed out by others. His parachute deploys. He is the guy that Jack and Kate saw at the end of the last episode. He says that his name Daniel Faraday. The chopper went down. He doesn’t know what happened to the others. He uses the sat phone to call back the freighter. He needs to speak to them alone. Jack sees Daniel’s gun.

Daniel says that he can use the GPS transceiver to track them with the sat phone. He needs Jack and Kate’s help to find them.

Locke is talking his people to the barracks. Locke says that he needs to go to the cabin. Hurley says that the cabin is the other way. Locke says that Walt told him to do this.

Juliette and Sayid are talking about the new people arriving. Juliette asks him how many guns do they have left.

Jack and Kate find a box containing biohazard equipment. Daniel is evasive. Jack asks him about the gun. Daniel says that rescuing them isn’t their primary objective. He doesn’t say what they really want.

Locke says that when Ben shot him and left him to die, he saw Walt. Locke shows Sawyer the wound. Locke says that if he had a kidney left on that side, he would probably be dead. The bullet is a through and through. Sawyer is taking Locke seriously now. He didn’t know about the gunshot.

Daniel says that he has found the signal of Miles. They find a man lying on a rocky cliff near the water. Miles pulls a gun. He wants to know where Naomi is.

In the flashforward, we see Miles visiting Mrs. Gardner. His name now is Al Strong. He’s going to perform some kind of an exorcism. He asks for 200$. Mrs. Gardner’s grandson was murdered. He’s got a vacuum cleaner. It makes a strange noise. He starts talking to someone. He wants to know where it is. The ghost shows him where it is hidden.

Miles finds money and some dope. He tells the ghost to go now. He gives the woman 100$ back.

In the present Miles tells Daniel that Naomi used a code in her dying breath. “Tell my sister that I love her” is code for “I’m captured and have a gun to my head”. Kate says that Locke killed her. Miles wants to see the body. He’ll know. Daniel asks about Charlotte and Frank.

Ben pushes Sawyer’s buttons. Sawyer starts to beat him senseless. Ben was saying that if they get rescued, he’ll never have a chance with Kate. Locke calms him down.

Miles is next to Naomi’s body. Miles confirms that they didn’t kill Naomi. Juliette and Sayid turn up to back up Jack. They want them to put down the guns.

The next flashforward takes place in Medenine, Tunesia. Charlotte wants to see a dig site. It’s an Ursus Maritimus. It’s a polar bear. She finds collar with a Dharma Initiative like logo.

In the present, Charlotte is suspended upside down. She’s dangling from a cliff. She’s able to detach herself and fall into the water. Locke and his party find her. Charlotte is asking a lot of questions. She shows him her transponder.

Ben notices her gun. Locke tells Charlotte that she is coming with them.
Dan says that he is a physicist. Sayid wants to know why they are here. They aren’t surprised to find the losties here. Sayid isn’t getting the answers he wants.

Sayid is operating the sat phone and notices that Charlotte’s signal is moving fast. She’s running away. The amateurs start screaming Charlotte’s name. The GPS transponder was on Vincent’s back. Jack knows that Locke has got her.

In the future Frank is watching the footage of the recovery of Oceanic Flight 815. He gives the hotline a call. He has information on the pilot. He knows Seth Norris. He tells the supervisor that the pilot is not Seth Norris. Frank says that he was supposed to be flying Oceanic Flight 815 that day.

The present scene shifts to Frank climbing up a hill. He finds a cow at the top. The cow has a bell. Frank’s phone is dead. He shoots a flare.

I find that the losties are starting to act like the Others. Especially Locke.

Charlotte is surprised when Locke’s people aren’t interested in other survivors from the helicopter. Ben shoots

Charlotte. Charlotte was wearing a vest. Sawyer pounces on Ben.

Jack and Kate find Frank. Frank says that he didn’t crash the helicopter. He put her down safe and sound. The helicopter was struck by lightning. Jack looks at their way out of the island.

Matthew Abaddon is talking with Naomi about the team. This is happening in the past. He has set up this covert op. She thinks its madness. She asks what they will do if they find survivors from Flight 815. Abaddon doesn’t care. He says that there were no survivors. He wants Naomi to get in and get out and do what she was hired to do.

Sayid says that the helicopter will fly. Miles calls Regina. He wants to talk to Minkowski. Regina says that Minkowski isn’t available. He asks her to call him back. Frank is getting his wound dressed by Juliette. He finds out that Juliette wasn’t on the plane.

Miles tells Juliette that they are here to find Benjamin Linus. Locke is going to kill Ben. Ben says that he has information that he needs. He has answers. Locke wants to know about the monster, the black smoke monster. Ben says that Charlotte’s full name is Charlotte Lewis. He knows all about her. He says that she is here with Daniel,

Frank and Miles. Ben says that these people are a threat. He says that he knows that they are here for him. Charlotte is surprised that he revealed this. Ben says that he has a man on their boat, which is how he knows all of this.

Muerte confirmada es el título del 4×02 de Perdidos. De lo primero (muertes) sólemos tener bastante en la serie, a veces incluso demasiado, mientras que de lo segundo (confirmaciones) más bien poco. Siendo precisos en este episodio no sé nos confirma ninguna muerte, sino el espejismo de 324 de ellas, la de los pasajeros del vuelo 815 de Oceanic. Historia transversal que periódicos, radios y televisiones amplifican al nivel de tragedia, enmascarando la epopeya que realmente se está vivendo en la isla. Una noticia que devuelve las teorías conspiratorias al primer plano y que aparece como hilo conductor de la presentación del nuevo equipo de rescate, que con un inusual flashback (este es el primero que ocurre tras el accidente) se nos darán a conocer. 4 rescatadores, por cierto, a cada cual más desconcertante. Un físico chiflado que llora sin motivo al enterarse de que han encontrado los restos del avión, un cazanfatasmas fraudulento que quizá venga a exorcizar la cabaña de Jacob, una antropóloga social que, en un giro de tuerca a la iconografía de la serie, encuentra un oso polar en el desierto tunecino, y, por último, el piloto que realmente debería haber conducido el vuelo desde Sidney. Y esto es lo que más me gusta del peculiar rescate, que venga el piloto de verdad a recoger a sus pasajeros, a ver si acaba con el trabajo que su sustituo dejó a medias y se gana el sueldo de aquel día, completando el viaje hasta Los Ángeles, que en su momento no pudo realizar, en una de esas curiosas segundas oportunidades que, de vez en cuando, ofrece la Isla.

Mención especial

• A la broma de Walt más alto, al riñón de Locke, a la pregunta sobre el humo negro, a que se apueste más por el plano general, y a que los personajes se comporten con más coherencia que en temporadas precedentes

Análisis 4×01, 3×23, 2×24

Another great episode of LOST last night, made greater by the fact that my wife and I travelled to a friends house to watch it in 50 inches of HD goodness.  Something about my favorite show in HD makes me want a TV like that really bad.  But I digress…

Tonight’s episode provided more flashbacks instead of flash forwards.  However these flashbacks were different in two new (and pretty cool) ways.  The first difference that became apparent by the second flashback was that each flashback was for a different character.  Usually the flashbacks follow a particular characters journey through a past experience that relates to what’s currently happening on the island.  In this case, each new character had a flashback showing something of their former life.  The final flashback made things more interesting being a flashback of not only a seperate character, but a dead one.  That’s right, we flashed back on the life of someone who was dead.  Either that or the presence of a flashback implies that the character isn’t really dead.

 Speaking of the flashbacks (the last one in particular), I love the fact that Locke happens to kill the one member of the team, Naomi, who’s supposed to make sure everyone completes the mission and comes back.  I also enjoyed the flashback with the Polar Bear skeleton.  In the middle of the desert.  With a Dharma collar.  I can’t help but wonder if that has some connection to this. 

And you can’t help but wonder why they’re all after Ben.  I guess he’s the leader of “the Others” but that’s a different question altogether.  How does some kid from off the island become leader of “The Others”?  Or “The Hostiles”?  Or whatever you want to call them.  Regardless, someone is interested in Ben.  My only theory right now is that it could have something to do with his connection to the Island.  It has some power (obviously) and someone else wants to control it.  Sadly, I was disappointed that Ben (claimed he) didn’t know what the Monster was.  I was hoping for a surprising answer.  After Ben’s big reveal that he has someone on their boat, my wife immediately turned to all of us and said “Michael.”  I’m going with her on this one.  It’s a strong assumption.

Finally, some of my favorite moments:

-Finding out that in the long list of philosopher’s names in this show, a few more are added with Daniel Faraday and, can this be right, Charlotte Staples Lewis?  Really?  I’m almost disappointed at how easy that one is.  At least change the Staples…

-When Miles says that if Jack was in trouble, he’d say “Tell my sister I love her.”  After thinking about it, this is ironic since Claire is technically Jack’s half sister.  He just doesn’t know that…

-When Hurley inadverdently reveals he saw the cabin. The look on John’s and Ben’s faces are priceless.

Previously about Lost….

¡Cinco flashbacks! ¡Cinco! Y qué personajes señora, a cada cual más interesante. No sé a ustedes, pero a mí me ha dado la sensación de que le han inyectado una dosis enorme de interés a una serie que no había perdido nada del que tenía en un principio. ¿Qué saldrá de esto? Sólo me atrevo a decir una cosa, como pasó con Alias en el INCREIBLE Phase One, tenemos serie nueva señores.

Me ha encantado. Me ha encantado muy mucho todo el episodio. Más preguntas pero mucho diálogo, mucha puesta en común. Y en 40 minutos da para que todos estos personajes tengan su momento de gloria:

1. Locke preguntando directamente a Ben sobre el humo negro. Locke hablando de que vio a Walt y que le vio ‘alto’. Locke enseñando su balazo. Locke reafirmando la teoría de que todo ocurre por alguna razón al haber evitado su muerte ‘gracias’ al robo de su padre.
2. Hurley quedándose en bragas al confirmar que él también ha visto la cabaña.
3. Miles, un masculino Jennifer Love Hewit, explicando por qué están en la isla.
4. Faraday (vaya apellido para un físico), un personaje que promete y mucho, flipando con la luz de la isla. Me ha dado la sensación de que puede ser alguien del estilo de Walt, ‘especial’. Eso de ponerse a llorar sin razón, esa forma de apreciar la luz de la isla…
5. Charlotte, guapísima, no sorprendiéndose de a) encontrar un oso polar en medio del desierto b) encontrar en un fósil un collar de Dharma.
6. Ben confesando: I have a men on that boat.
7. Naomi hablando con el “abogado” negro sobre lo peligroso de su misión.
8. El piloto inicial del Oceanic 815 reconociendo el fake submarino con sólo ver las noticias.
9. ¡¡Si hasta Jack tiene su frase!! Don’t know, how stupid are you?

Y además, los dos puntos que menos me gustaron del capítulo pasado han sido al menos tratados en este. Naomi utiliza una frase en clave y Locke es perfectamente consciente de que Ben le tiroteó. Dios, amo esta serie.

Y para terminar, una curiosidad que, aunque a todas luces parezca un fallo de racord, es extraño que ocurra con algo que recibe dos primeros planos al principio y al final de una misma escena. Los marcos de las fotos del chaval cuyo espíritu ‘limpia’ Miles cambian de metal a madera de una escena a otra. Mirad la captura de arriba para más señas.
