What’s up with Microsoft? Are they running low on cash? Not likely. If you have an Xbox360 then you’ll probably pay them around £30 a year for Gold Membership to Xbox Live – allowing access to premium content and online gaming. It all sounds fair enough, but with the BBC’s iPlayer already available on the Xbox’s two main competitor’s consoles – the Wii and the PS3 – Microsoft are missing out. And it’s their own fault:

What don’t Microsoft get about this? Have they even heard of ‘value-add’ services? Do they have to charge for absolutely everything??

...that is, UNLESS you have an Xbox360.

The BBC themselves aren’t allowed to charge for the iPlayer – what the hell makes Microsoft think they’re allowed to just because a) they’re big bad Microsoft, and b) they have a ’strategy’ to charge for absolutely everything. I mean, what company seriously has the balls to make a strategy to charge for everything? Oh yeah, that would be Microsoft. They really need to wake up and smell the free entertainment. The Xbox is a popular enough console, but how many extra hours do you think people will spend on their console if thy can switch from gaming to watching TV? And if, to put it in an idiotic term used by marketers, they have more backsides on seats for a longer time, this can only be good for the Xbox brand and increase it’s offering. It’ll probably get people interested in Xbox 360 who previously only saw it as a games console rather than a media centre.

Microsoft should stop worshipping the almighty dollar and give a little back to its already paying public, for once. Besides, the BBC is ours – we already paid for it.

This Thanksgiving I did not drink and become the drunk for the day!!

We got to my brother in laws house at 11:30am yesterday and I was offered a beer as soon as I walked in, to everyone’s surprise I declined it and everyone smiled to see that I was going to try to white knuckle it this year (so they thought), but they did ot know that I have been sober for 136 days.  I had  many family members come up to me and told me that I looked like I just got back from someplace in the sun cause I have more color in my face and they all thought I have gained some weight,  I just smiled and said thank you but what happened next took me completely by surprise.

I laughed, smiled, tolded jokes and just had an wonderful time and this year my wife did not have to drive home cause daddy was to drunk to drive, I have not seen her and my two girls smile and laugh like this in so many years I think I’ll just not get drunk anymore.

The Gift I got was this over whelming feeling from something I cannot explain but I’ll try, I have been in AA since March of 2009 but only since July 13th 2009 I’ve been able to stop and I owe that to my higher power (which I call GOD as I believe), getting back to it, That feeling was warm, enlightening and just overwhelming but amazing, I have heard of many Fellows in my program talk about this spiritual feeling that has come over them of take away the cravings, I truly believe that this was the feeling I had yesterday.

Along with my AA program and working with other I have also created a website that helps me help others by providing a service of other that suffer like me and without all the work I have and doing today really working for me,

Por essa poucos esperavam. O Xbox 360 deverá sim ter sua versão slim. Pelo menos se depender dos palpites dos analistas. Quem dá a dica é o analista David Cole da agência DFC Intelligence. David falava ao site Industry Gamers:

“Eu acho que é uma questão de ‘quando’, e não uma questão de ’se vai’ ser lançado. Contudo, a grande questão de ‘quando’ é a grande incerteza… rumores sobre o lançamento já existem há um bom tempo. Eu acho que as pessoas já me fizeram esta pergunta sobre o xbox 360 Slim no ano passado.”

“Há muitas questões a serem resolvidas internamente na microsoft, e sempre haverá diferentes argumentos dentro da empresa sobre lançamentos. Então eu não sei exatamente quando o xbox xbox 360 Slim virá, mas as previsões da DFC Intelligence dizem que o redesign do console será em 2010. Esta é a nossa aposta.”

Pra quem não conhece a DFC é uma agência de consultoria mercadológica focada em entretenimento digital, suas pesquisas são usadas por grandes empresas há 15 anos em pelo menos 30 países. Mas fica uma dúvida: será que o Xbox 360 slim vai sair com o Project Natal embutido ou a Microsoft vai faer as pessoas comprarem o Natal e um ano depois lançará o console emagrecido? Isso pra não lembrar da saga pelo Blu-Ray…

Yoichi Wada says trade must prepare for switch to digital distribution and server-based games

Square Enix chief Yoichi Wada is preparing his firm for the demise of physical media – and potentially the death of home consoles.

In an exclusive interview with MCV that will be published next week, the CEO of the publisher – which now owns Eidos and is famous for its epic disc-based Final Fantasy games – said that a dramatic change will come in the next decade offering more opportunity for market growth, but fundamentally transforming the traditional industry.

“In ten years’ time a lot of what we call ‘console games’ won’t exist,” he said.

Wada warned that “all the distributors and sales firms will suffer a big negative impact” from a new era in which interactive entertainment switches from software run on hardware in the home to server-based offerings, game streaming and digital distribution.

He claimed that format-holders including Sony and Microsoft are already prepared for the shift – and that third-parties must follow suit.

“Somewhere around 2005 the console manufacturers’ strategy shifted,” he said.

“In the past the platform was hardware, but it has switched to the network. A time will come when the hardware isn’t even needed anymore.

“With that, any kind of terminal becomes a potential platform on which games can be played – that’s exponential growth in the potential of gaming. The potential size of the market is enormous.”

He explained that Square Enix is preparing for this change by ramping up production of social and browser games at its Japanese studios, and also closely monitoring 2010’s beta roll-out of PS3 MMO Final Fantasy XIV.

“Social and browser games are going to grow dramatically – especially in areas like Asia which does not have as big a console market,” he said.

Emotional Effects

The most recognised form of emotional effect of drinking alcohol is the reduction of inhibitions you feel upon drinking. This is because of its role as a depressant. Drunk people can put both themselves and others in danger through aggressive or inappropriate behaviour. The lack of awareness can put drunk people in danger of physical and sexual violence. In the US, UK and Canada, researchers found that most domestic violence incidents (spouse and child abuse) occur when the perpetrator has been drinking excessively.

Excessive drinking also affects chemical balances within the brain. Such as the production of serotonin, which regulates moods. So depressive feelings, insomnia, and a loss of concentration can be the results.

Heavy drinking interferes with the balance of chemicals in the brain. It lowers the production of serotonin, which regulates to mood – this leads to mild symptoms of depression, including insomnia, sluggishness, anxiety and loss of concentration.

Magnifying Your Existing Emotions

Alcohol is like a magnifier. If you are depressed, it will make you more depressed. The same goes for angry people who can become angrier and more violent.

Psychological Impacts of Drinking

There are also other likely problems that result from excessive drinking:

• Addiction/dependence
• Cravings can develop as you rely on alcohol for mood change and also to divert attention away from life problems
• Psychiatric issues e.g. clinical depression, dementia, and/or anxiety and impulse control disorders negative thoughts and patterns can be developed and exacerbated by reliance on alcohol
• Distorted sense of judgement
• Anti-social behaviour and negative social relationships can be the consequence of excessive drinking

E aew gente! Pra comemorar que o meu post do Mario & Luigi: SuperStar Saga foi citado em outro blog, vo posta agora sobre a continuação dele.

Como esse foi o 1º jogo da série Mario & Luigi a ser lançado no DS, o jogo tras várias inovações, mas usa muito pouco as várias ferramentas do DS, como o Microfone, TouchScreen, etc…

Como eu ja fui avisado pelo 6Giga pro post não fica muito grande, eu vo reduzir ao máximo o que eu puder >_<

O jogo básicamente começa com vc controlando o Baby Mario e o Baby Luigi no Reino dos Cogumelos do passado. Depois acontece um ataque BRUTAL ao castelo da Peach causado pelos Shroobs, uns alienigenas que querem dominar o reino. Então no reino do “presente”, o prof. Elvin Gadd (sua primeira aparição foi em Luigi’s Mansion) inventou uma Maquina do Tempo, e a princesa Peach quis fazer uma visita ao reino do passado (não sabendo que ele havia sido atacado pelos aliens). E depois quando a máquina volta, Peach não está lá, mas sim um alien que ataca Mario que luta de volta. Então Mario e Luigi viajam até o reino do passado para salvar Peach e encontram lá Baby Mario e Baby Luigi.

Pronto pessoal ja falei um pouco da história do jogo, então acho que é só isso.

Alcohol is a potent central nervous system depressant with a wide range of effects. The amount you consume effects how drunk you will get.

The effects of alcohol change over time. When you first start drinking. You may feel relaxed. But the more you drink, the more side effects you begin to feel, like blurred vision and slurred speech.

Euphoria is an effect that alcohol has on people. Essentially, getting the euphoric effect means you will feel an overall mood improvement. You may be more self-confident when drinking. Your attention span shortens and you may feel more flushed. Whether your believe it or now, your judgment won’t be as good as you think it is and you may well say the first thing that comes to mind or do things that you would not normally do. You will also start to have trouble with fine movements such as signing their name. With more alcohol, lethargy may start to set in. Lethargy is the side effect where you may become sleepy. You have trouble remembering things that happened, even recent things you have done. Body movements are uncoordinated and you may react to situations more slowly. Your vision becomes blurry and they have trouble seeing.

Confusion is also caused by drinking. You may get confused and very emotional, less likely to respond to pain. If you get in a fight while you are drunk, you will not feel the pain until the alcohol wears off.

Stupor is another short term effect of alcohol. In this condition movement is seriously impaired and you may lapse in and out of consciousness. You can slip into a coma and become completely unaware of your surroundings. At this point, the risk to the body is very high due to alcohol poisoning. Loss of body functions can begin like losing control of the bladder, breathing and heart rate.

Drinking large amounts of alcohol can lead to coma and even death. If you want to avoid these risks, the best way to do it is to avoid alcohol. You can start being effected by alcohol from the very first sip, whether you realize it or not.

Excessive doses of alcohol can cause long term as well as short-term side effects. Some of the long term effects are: slowing, blurred vision, vertigo, amnesia, ataxia, and hangovers.

The liver is part of the body’s filtration system. This means when it is damaged it allows certain toxins to build up, leading to symptoms of Jaundice. This is what you are seeing when a person’s skin begins to turn yellow.

Many people don’t think of alcohol as a drug but the fact is that it is a drug. It is just as lethal as any other drug can be. When you overuse any drug you can expect consequences. This is also true with alcohol. Many people think that it is okay to have a beer once in a while or that if you drink at home you won’t be hurting anyone.

Think again. You are hurting yourself and by hurting yourself you are hurting the ones that care about you. Whether you drink some at home or at a bar, alcohol can have the same effect on you. One sip and the process begins.
