The Contender Asia Season 2 is taking place in Malaysia this year and the contestants are almost finalized. I took this picture from the Contender Asia fan club site and you can get a good idea of who will be in this seasons show. I am hoping that this year we will be able to catch it here in the states. I know last year they showed it on the versus channel on Thursday at 6:00PM. I would always rush home from work to catch the show but because it was on so early I missed a lot of the show.

I believe there is one spot on the show left and I think it will be another fighter from Malaysia but I am unsure. Here are the 15 fighters they have lined up right now and you should recognize a few names on the list.

I have been involved in Muay Thai Kick Boxing for many years. I am currently the 2008 Swiss Muay Thai Champion and the 2006 Swiss SANDA Champion (SANDA is a combination of Muay Thai and Kung Fu). Recently, I starred in Contender Asia as Captain of the Team. Contender Asia was viewed by 400 million viewers around the world! I have been featured and interviewed by numerous magazines and newspapers around the world (including Malaysian Star Newspaper).As you can see, I lead a pretty hectic lifestyle!

When my good friend, Ramazan Ramazanov (World Muay Thai Heavyweight Champion) introduced FE’s Quantum Pendant to me and did the demos on me, I was very impressed. WOW!

Now when I train, I always drink the charged water. I feel more powerful and I train so much better. I also noticed since I started wearing the QP, I dont have as much headaches as before. I feel much more relaxed and calm and at night I sleep much better. I have no hesitation recommending FE’s QP to everyone!  Thank you so much FE for such a wonderful product!

Free things tend to make people change their minds very quickly, not so long ago, I was given to the fate that I’ll watch Flicker Fest instead of Contender, but when extra free tickets started emerging from the company stash…how to say no? kaka

Things that will stick in my mind from that night? Lime green ankle guards, a bloodied nose, plenty of crouch-kicking, tripping, shiny short skirts, and last, but not least, child labour.

A little complain queen episode as well, round 1 of zidov vs zach fight, I stepped out to the event’s food counter to get some food, and a drink. I ended up with a tiger (not cold…) that cost me 10 bucks (nevermind, pretend i am in zouk) and a ham+cheese sandwich that costs 6 bucks… ONLY to be informed by the “friendly” guard at the arena door, that beer was not allowed…Thanks to indoor stadium, I had my first lonely beer, standing up and finishing it in less than 2 mins b’coz i didn’t want to miss the show….and ITS NOT EVEN COLD!!! why did the organisers sell beer when its not allowed inside?? what a rip-off…

After the show, we had Bak Koot Teh at Joo Chiat, first time there and the food is delicious! Expensive though, the claypot with prime ribs is 7 bucks and rice costs 60cents.

But the taste is RAFURIIIIiiiiii, the meat is soft, the soup is black and brewed to perfection with a rich smell of soy sauce and the meat slips off the rib bone very easily, certainly a sign of freshness, yum yum, I’m definitely going back soon. ~~~~

now that Amazing Race is on a hiatus, is without a doubt…

THE CONTENDER ASIA!!

There is something about boxing that just fascinates me… Call it bloodlust, call it what you will, but I prefer mortal combat over whiney judges lobbing “witty” remarks behind tonnes of security guards anytime. (Humiliating other people should not feel so good… even though some of these people really deserves to be humiliated… )

There is something… dare I say it? “pure” about 2 men facing off with nothing but their fists and legs… (I don’t mind 2 scantily clad ladies in the same scenario too, of course… but that’s another story for another day…)

Anyway, this week’s faceoff pits 2 of my favorite fighters against each other. I think they are easily the strongest among the fighters. The thing is that these 2 are supposed to be the best of friends… I love that when they found out they have to fight each other, they resort to the same defense mechanism most guys employ when in denial… they go to sleep…

All in all, ep 9 was a really sweet episode with the family members and/or close friends of the fighters being flown in to visit the Contenders. Was a big moment for some of them as they’ve not seen/talk to said family members for a long time already… I know the producers are milking these moments for all they’re worth, but I am a big sucker for this anyway…

Another tender moment was when Yodsaenklai, the Thai fighter say to his friend and opponent Naruepol that he (Naruepol) is all about looks and that he will have to punch him hard in his face so that he can walk besides him after the fight.

He commented on what a pair they make…

“I go by luck. He goes by looks.”

Sweet…
