“Who stole a cookie from the cookie jar?”  That’s the question I’d always ask myself after grabbing a handful of cookies from the pantry.  Most times I’d eaten half of the chocolately dough by the time I could comprehend that I was actually…sneaking cookies. 

It wasn’t unusual for Michael to be outside the house when I found the “urge” to help myself to a treat.  And when he returned, I felt a sense of guilt but I pushed it under the rug.

The sluggish feeling didn’t bother me because my method of regaining energy was to steal a sugar rush from another cookie.  Michael was usually home by then.  And my “pick-me-ups” didn’t seem to bother him. On occasion he’d comment, “watch out – those things will make you fat.”  Too focused on the present, I never entertained what could come of it.

About a year ago, Michael and I hit a financial rut, and we had to cut down our expenses significantly.  In order to live comfortably, we agreed to cut back our leisure spending to $100 per month.  This included entertainment, eating out, and making unnecessary purchases. Not once did I count the sweet treats that stacked my pantry a leisure item.  In my mind, I had to have the cookies.  And to back it up, I’d convince Michael that if I didn’t have them, I’d get cranky and moody.  On occasion he witnessed the effects of me going hours without having the cookies, and…well…let’s just say that before the night ended, he ran to the store and purchased a pack.

It wasn’t three months in to our financial management plan that I noticed the amount of money I was spending on the chocolate chunks exceeded more than my cable bill!  A shame that Michael noticed it before I did.  Apparently he was secretly watching the daily ritual of grabbing what he thought was my first handful of cookies in the afternoons.  He compared that to the amount of times per week he noticed a receipt from the grocery store with the only single item – Grandma’s Baked Cookies next to the $4.99 dollar sign. How embarrassing. I don’t want to be seen as the cookie monster – literally.  Starting tomorrow I’ll be careful to monitor my intake.

I know NOTHING about weight loss programs, loosing weight, or good diets. For instance, this past summer  I came up with this diet plan where I only ate one big meal a day and didn’t eat anything else. Turns out that’s like the worst thing that you can do because your body starts storing more fat or something stupid like that. If my body was smarter, it would know to just stop storing fat, so like, body, wtf? Evolve already.

However, even with my volume of ignorance on the subject, I know that there is no way that eating a fucking cookie is going to make me lose weight unless it has a tapeworm, laxative, or vomit inducer in it. Jesus. This is the stupidest commercial I have ever seen:

“Eat cookies, lose weight, its that simple!” Jesus christ. Okay here’s my problem: if cookie monster isn’t allowed to eat cookies on tv, then some stupid baby-wielding bitch should not be able to tell America that all you have to do is eat cookies to lose weight. The saddest thing about this is that there are people out there buying these stupid cookies thinking that they can maintain their normal diets and keep their fatasses glued to the couch crying along with The Biggest Loser and actually lose weight.

Additionally if loosing weight turns you into a big stupid douche, I’d much rather be fat:

I have had my eye on a vintage, aluminum apple cookie jar for a long while.  A couple years ago I passed up purchasing a complete set, now I look on eBay or Etsy every couple of months to see if someone has listed one  for a reasonable price.

Well, I am happy to report I finally got an apple cookie jar of my very own – and it’s even better, brighter and more playful than I expected.  But now that it’s mine, it’s only a matter of time until I will find a new object of desire to obsess over.

With me, these things are usually small and relatively inexpensive, but I almost always have something in my mind’s eye.  I am a collector of bits and pieces – I lack cohesiveness in my collecting. My desire to acquire certain objects sometimes makes me question uncomfortable because it is clearly linked to consumption and materialism, even if it has nothing to do with status. 

My boyfriend absolves me of guilt, reminding me it’s not luxury items or things beyond my means that I want … but I still “want” some of these odd and random objects so badly and that cannot be good. Can it? What do you think? Do you struggle with your quirky collectible leanings as much as me?

I made my favorite peanut butter cup cookies for a gift this weekend! Yum!

Ao contrário da maioria das músicas do gênero hip hop ,a banda prefere usar instrumentos no lugar dos samples convencionais e dos loops pré-gravados. O highlight de “Cookie Jar” com certeza está no refrão, quando cita: “I want to be faithful… but I can’t keep my hands out the cookie jar”. Sei que a música já estoura as nights do Rio de Janeiro, mas ainda não ouvi pelas baladas do sul do Brasil.

I am encouraged to see that Corey has been posting regularly, because I’ve been side-tracked.  But the more my attention got redirected, the harder it was to come back to posting again.  I found myself thinking, “How do I reenter this blog when I’ve only written one post in the last two and a half weeks?”  I started to find myself lacking the motivation to get back in to it.  Apathy started setting in.  I even got a little frustrated because I felt so ambivalent about it.  That’s when I realized I was feeling some shame. 

I was a little ashamed for having dropped off the radar for a bit.  I started to feel as if I owed you our readers something, or even owed myself something by blogging.  I don’t believe I have made any commitments to you or myself that should legitimately make me feel that way, but none the less, I was starting to.  And I realized that in order to be able to write again, I was going to have to face the shame I was feeling for not writing.  It’s like those relationships that we have some times when we don’t talk to someone for a while and then we start to get concerned that there’s a reason for that.  We begin to think that maybe the other person is mad at us or doesn’t like us any more.  We start feeling shame, even if there is not necessarily any reason to.  But, it’s enough to keep us from calling the other person, and even to convince ourselves that the other person should be the one calling us.  Maybe we’re even beginning to wonder if the relationship is worth what we’re going through.  Now, I’m not talking about the false sense of shame we feel when we’ve exerted effort to try and connect with someone who won’t give anything back, or when we are pulled by someone who feeds off of our loyalty and uses our shame as a tool to keep us around.  I’m talking about the shame that comes when there is just plain uncertainty, or even a fear that we did something wrong. 

Shame is such a powerful emotion.  Andrew Morrison wrote a book called “Shame: The Underside of Narcissism.”  I haven’t had a chance to get through the whole thing, but so far I’m convinced he is addressing the very core of the issues we are talking about in this blog.  He says…

“Shame frequently causes one to hide, to avoid interpersonal contact as a protection against rejection, and to conceal the affective experience from one’s own awareness.  As guilt invites confession and forgiveness, shame generates concealment out of fear of rendering the self unacceptable.”

In other words, shame is what we feel when we think we may not be accepted by the people around us, and that is compounded when we do something we know we shouldn’t.  It’s what we feel while we have our hand in the cookie jar, or after we get caught with our hand in the cookie jar.  One of the problems is that if we don’t own up to and deal with our shame, then it will increase even more as we try to cover up our errors with our finely crafted excuses, or as we redirect it onto someone else.  And if hiding becomes our primary way of relating with people, then over time, we can even convince ourselves that we are o.k., and can extract a lot of the awareness of our shame from our minds.  Inevitably when we do that, we will begin to live our lives in such a way that others become the victims of our shame so that we don’t have to deal with it.  We become so full of shame, that we begin to feel shameless.  And that is when we give birth to narcissism.

This is what I dreamt of last night:

I started off in a room that kind of looked like a distorted version of my kitchen and I climbed up into the cupboard to get the cookie jar but my sister (which I don’t actually have) had eaten them all and I got angry and broke her barbie doll which was mean.

then I was on a lake feeding a duck called ‘Ducky’- and he bit my finger:( there was a boat on the lake so I got inside and sailed to the other side where there was a church. then I had to do a speech at my friends funeral and everyone was crying and then Daniel Radcliffe and Michael Jackson drove up in a big red car- like the one on the wiggles- and we played jump rope until sunset and then mum woke me up for work:)

weird dream huh? I don’t really know what this means- psychologist anyone?

So go out and preorder this lovely cookie jar that only a true fan can really appreciate. I myself would buy one but I already have a wonderful cookie jar. I eat my cookies out of a cow’s behind. Long story on the cows but not as long as the one of the cookie jar.

My all-time favorite ride is Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris. It’s been my favorite since I went on it as an 8-year old girl in 1992 when the park opened. It didn’t scare me as mush as fascinate me. I loved the effects, the see-through dancing ghosts, the sad bride in her ripped weddingdress as well as the hall of changing portraits. I’ve been on the ride dozens of times and always feel a little sad when I haven’t visited for a while. 

I’ve never been to any of the US parks but by the looks of it the Haunted Mansion is very similar til Phantom Manor. Believe it or not but HM is celebrating it’s 40-year anniversary and one of my absolute favorite artists, Shag, has created a series of prints and merchandise to celebrate the event. This can’t be bought online unless I hunt it down at insane prices on eBay, so I’ll just have to make due with low-res pictures. Shag is amazing and has previously made awesome designs for Disneyland. His simple but recognizable style as well as his use of colors, textures and characters make his work really appealing. I’m dying to get my hands on some of this stuff, especially the really cute charm bracelet, urn cookie jar, coasters and glasses. Some of his beautiful prints would also look really good on my plain white walls.

While out window shopping in town yesterday, I decided I’d check out the Arnotts in Jervis centre, which is supposed to be their cool, fashion-conscious, Temple Bar Chic store.

Nice clothes, but pricey brands, folks!

Regardless of not being a millionaire, it’s still a nice store to wander around in: lots of nice packaging, eye-catching displays, pretty dresses …none of which I can buy, of course!lol!

They’ve a high-fashion-interior section upstairs, so for research purposes concerning next month’s Recent Future Home Purchase, I decided to check it out, and while post of it was a bit Been There, I did stumble across this newly added line called Blond Amsterdam:

Right well these pictures don’t really do them justice at ALL, but their stuff is adorable and I have my eye on a sugar bowl, a milk jug and a cookie jar for next month’s purchases!

After typing that long ass title, it is now officially 11:12 on a Monday night and 48 minutes to a Tuesday morning. Life is full of crappy crumbs because it just happens to be in the middle of my summer before senior year. Summer and senior year is supposed to be fun, right? Well apparently, my luck has fallen asleep just like my leg that I’m currently sitting on, because my summer sucks major dog nuts.

There’s summer reading, which features one major sucky book and a book I’m finally able to get into.  On top of that, there’s the giant monstrosity called senior project (aka. a master plan to lower the number of students in this graduation class). Luckily, black and white photography will be amazing because I love taking photos and I can finally learn some of that professional jargon.

urgh…….. the parrot in my brain finally collapsed, terminating all brain functions. I guess this is the end of this post.

Over a year ago, I posted a thread on the Xbox.com Forums asking for opinions on the idea of having a Care Bears game on Xbox 360. It’s received many positive remarks, but also quite a few negative ones.

I think the idea of having a Care Bears game on the Xbox 360 (if done right) is amazing. Imagine if the game utilized Xbox Live and you can play with your friends, go on missions helping people.

I called up Game Factory (developers of the Care Bears Game Boy Advance game) a few months ago, and they were excited to hear about my ideas but told me they no longer had the Care Bears license anymore. So I called American Greetings and Cookie Jar (now Care Bear’s home, I think) to see what could be done.

Today I just found that my hopes of  a Care Bears video game will have to be put on hold for a bit as this recent article spread some light on some crazy news:

What would Share Bear and Love-A-Lot Bear think about this?

American Greetings Corp. and Cookie Jar Entertainment Inc. of Toronto have each filed lawsuits accusing the other of bad faith over a deal to sell Strawberry Shortcake and the Care Bears.

Neither side would comment on pending litigation, but the arguments are outlined in the lawsuits.

Brooklyn-based American Greetings and its wholly owned subsidiary, Those Characters from Cleveland Inc., are charging Cookie Jar Entertainment and its predecessor, DIC Entertainment Corp., with breach of contract.

Cookie Jar last July agreed to pay American Greetings $195 million in cash for the rights to Shortcake, the Care Bears, and a newer cast of characters called Sushi Pack (four pieces of sushi and a dollop of wasabi that fight crime).

That deal was to have closed Sept. 30, but fell through because Cookie Jar wasn’t able to line up the financing.

American Greetings says Cookie Jar not only “acted in bad faith,” it also had no intention of consummating the deal when it signed the papers, according to the lawsuit now before U.S. District Court.

Cookie Jar filed a lawsuit of its own before the New York Supreme Court, accusing American Greetings of trying to squeeze Cookie Jar out of the chance to buy the characters. American Greetings wanted to sell the characters for $76 million to MoonScoop S.A.S., a French company that makes animated television shows.

Cookie Jar had the right to match the offer, but said American Greetings gave it only one month to do so, “thereby making financing extremely difficult.” If Cookie Jar couldn’t come up with the money, MoonScoop had until June 7 to buy the properties.

By giving MoonScoop twice as long to close the deal, Cookie Jar says American Greetings conspired to give MoonScoop the upper hand.

American Greetings is seeking at least $100 million in damages, plus attorneys’ fees.

Cookie Jar is asking for $25 million, plus punitive damages and attorneys’ fees. Both sides must answer the other’s accusations within the month.

Woah. I hope things settle okay, because all of this is really sad news. I have not found anything more current than this article, so here’s to hoping Care Bears will find a home : )

I enjoy collecting things, not that its a time consuming hobby of mine, but I do like finding obscure items that appeal to my tastes specifically. My Alice in Wonderland kitchen items collection is one of those instances. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has always been one of my favorite books and films since I was little. I even got a chance to be in an Alice in Wonderland play – I was the caterpillar.

My mom started the figurine obsession when she found me the coolest cookie jar in the world somewhere online. I will never sell or get rid of it. After that I found these salt and pepper shakers, yes that’s what those are and I use them every day. The Drink Me bottle holds my salt and the mushroom Nibble holds the pepper. Don’t be fooled into thinking these are my only figurines. I have many Alice items sprinkled throughout my little apartment. I also have an Alice teapot, a stuffed Cheshire cat, little stash boxes, Alice art posters (2 in my living room), coloring book featuring illustrations from the original story, a t-shirt and hoodie. and Cheshire and Alice figurines in my windowsill hiding in the ivy. And sometimes I wonder how I accumulate so much stuff….
