Here’s an indirect first look at Dame Dash’s new ventures: an art Gallery called DD172, and the BlakRoc Project. I’ve been hearing about this for a while now, but who would’ve known Dame was behind it?  Its funny how just about everybody in hip-hop may try to sample Prince, [The artist formally known as...whatever you wanna call him] and everybody always comes to the “You can’t f*#$ with Prince” moment…EVERYBODY! I chuckled.

I’m pretty much all about this banger from Chip tha Ripper’s forthcoming mixtape. It’s good to see Chuck Inglish keep his relevance alive (honestly, the guy has been yielding some dope beats lately). It’s also good to see Curren$y apply a little focus; for a good while, it seemed as if he was tweeting every thirty seconds and every update had two parts: 1. what type of weed he was puffing and 2. what TV show he was watching. Since he’s gotten a little focus and linked up with Jay Electronica, I swear his verses have reacquired their punch. Oh yeah, Chip tha Ripper’s verse is pretty alright, too. Download the track here

Hip-Hop has always had a big staple in the city and suburbs of Chicago but never really got the recognition it deserves outside of Chicago. One reason for the city being known as “Haterville!” Besides the fact that once everyone sees someone from the city become a success they want to bring the next man down or that person doesn’t want to always help the next man up.

While with Chicago Day on MTV Jams this past Friday November 28, 2009 it showed we could unite each other in the city and bring each other up rather then bring each other down. One of my homies I know Andrew Barber who runs the popular blog site http://FakeShoreDrive.com was a big contributor to helping us get this day for Chicago Hip-Hop.

It was real good to see this happen as CLASSIC videos from Chicago Hip-Hop pioneers such as Twista, Common, Do Or Die, Crucial Conflict, R. Kelly, Donnell Jones and Da Brat where played throughout the day.  As well as videos from upcoming great Chicago Hip-Hop acts like Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Skooda Chose, Rhymefest, Cool Kids, GLC, Kidz In The Hall, Shawnna and more where also played.

This was a great platform for a lot of the great talents of Chicago Hip-Hop I have known and seen growing up finally get some national recognition they very well deserve.   I think it also shows the diversity of different great music we have in Chicago Hip-Hop.  If you didn’t catch any of it to you could catch a special Sucker Free Countdown also dedicated to Chicago tomorrow November 29, 2009 on MTV 2 at 6pm.

We’re going to be leaking this song off Chip Tha Ripper’s The Cleveland Show mixtape, which is dropping in it’s entirety on December 1st.

The Cool Kids – Gone Fishing Mixtape

It’s been awhile. Yeah, I’m busy, but aren’t we all. The typical blogger’s conundrum has fallen on my shoulders: too much work and no time for blogging/my work is writing and I don’t want to spend my little free time in front of the computer. How annoying and unfair! This month I’ve been trying my hardest to keep my lips sealed, but since ABODE is going to the printers today and our competitors’ magazines are long penned I can finally give some updates. You’ll have to get the details in person…or just wait for the book.

The month kicked off with ABODE exclusively covering the inaugural Doha 21st Century Leader Awards which led to me being picked up by Josh Hartnett (or me picking up him you decide): “Do you want to talk to some real Midwesterners?” …personal interviews with opera singer, Monica Yunus, daughter of Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, who will be performing with Opera Omaha in February, and hotshot British painter Sacha Jafri who might be the most exciting person in contemporary art right now. The night of the interview Sacha and I immediately bonded over our velvet blazers…thank you Bellwether.
I wish you all could see the magazine online. It’s really professional. I just told T that it’s my favorite magazine in the world. I think what distinguises ABODE from other magazines in this city, besides superb photography and original writing, is that our team (though very small) is extremely intelligent, attractive (just like our magazine) and absolutely relentless.

Other notable meetings of the month: finding an almost too acute 13-year-old fashion blogger, Tavi, who I’ve just added to my blog roll, growing out my newly dyed red hair, listening to Pretty Lights and running into an adorable professional hockey player  who happened to have two missing teeth (still feeling the sporty vibe).
But still keeping in mind that there’s a fine line between playing the game and letting the game play you.

This is a little segment id like to call ” constant rotation” ^^^ as seen above. this where i pay my dues to the most played artist at the moment on my itunes so without further a do this months constant rotation  would have to go to pac div yay!!!!! Pac div consist of brothers like and mibbs along with beyoung

ok so sammy pac div sounds like the cool kids ” sometimes” maybe because chuck inglish of the coolkids produces a large amount songs for them maybe because they take such great influence from each other but lets look at it this way they also sound like wu tang clan Slum Village native tongues and sometimes even leaders of the new school  if pac div is a collection of good music over the years and you dont like that…………..what the hell do you like?

Ami me pasa muy seguido, que la musica me enfada y tengo que escuchar old school shit para sentirme bien , yase se , se me ondea machin, pero es que como que la musica ya no es tan organica, pero tracks como estos son los que me hacen el dia, Knocked Down de los Chicos Cool inche track bien vergas , nose por que se me paso escucharla su viene en su mixtape que sakaron con Don Cannon, Gone Fishing que esta vergas se los recomiendo.
