Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could time travel to any point we wanted. To see what the world will look like 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, will it be any different? How drastically different will our lives be? Will we live in a Star Trek-esque utopian society? Will humanity implode on itself?

Without asking anymore questions, this video makes me really excited about our technological future.

P.S. whatever the video title might say, I doubt that Microsoft will be the one to bring about these changes unless there is a drastic change in their leadership.

My biology lovin’ boyfriend had tried to get me to watch this video for about a month.   Each time he asked me if I’d watched it yet, I’d give some legitimate excuse, like “I’m so sorry, I just don’t have 5 minutes to spare in my unemployed day.”

Well, when I had run out of excuses and finally watched it, I was amazed…just as he promised I would be.   The part where the octopus literally transforms himself (I guess its a him? How sexist of me) into the coral is so cool.   I know it starts off somewhat slow, but watch it through to the end -  I swear.

I love this octopus.

The website is also an interesting concept.  This is an excerpt from the “About TED” page, because they said it better than me.

awwwww, damn. one of the finest actors you would ever want to watch in action, edward woodward, has died.

there was his film work – breaker morant (1980), particularly in australia, but also for the wicker man, and 2007’s hot fuzz. but his television work is what most will remember him for, i suspect.

and most will connect him with The Equalizer – for which he won a golden globe. not me, though. to me woodward will always be david callan, from Callan – a gritty Brit series that ran from 1967 to 1972. he was a bloody magnificent misery in that series … here’s IMDB’s plot summary:

David Callan is the top agent/assassin for the S.I.S. (British counterintelligence), but he is an embittered man who performs his duties “for Queen and country” under duress. This bleak, “Spy who Came in from the Cold”-style espionage drama concentrates on the seamy underside of covert operations: assassinations, blackmail and dirty dealing.

it was tremendous, and woodward was the coolest. it also had one of the best support characters ever – ‘lonely’ – and an awesome opening titles sequence.

it was about the only police show i got to watch when i was a kid, largely because the only american television shows i was allowed to watch were Mr Ed, Gilligan’s Island and Batman. parents … *tch*

I love it when teh Maddow talks about her beloved. it is cuteness personified.

And he said, he intends to stop them.

Interviewer: “The other argument from Google is that you could choose not to be on their search engine. That you could simply refuse to be on. So that when someone does do a search, your websites don’t come up. Why haven’t you done that?”

Murdoch: “Well, I think we will.”

Cut back to Maddow in the studio:

Maddow: What an excellent idea. Then nobody will ever be directed to any of their stories through Google searches. And presumably, like Google, ‘Murdoch’ will also become a verb. To Murdoch: To magically attract an audience to one’s media product by ensuring that no-one knows it’s there.

*snort*

and there it is ladies and gentlemen, the entire ridiculousness of the argument against aggregation compressed down into four genius sentences.

*sigh*

Why is it when Shakira does it, it’s soo sexy and when this guy does it, well… not so much? It’s a mystery.

Frankly, this video is a little disturbing, but what makes it awesome is how well this remake is done shot-for-shot. I know I’m impressed. And at times, it’s laugh out loud hilarious. Everyone needs to laugh out loud sometimes.

Thought about this scene from “Yes Man” yesterday, so I decided to watch it again. It’s not new or cutting edge, but it’s very watchable. And the song is awesome. Plus, the finale rocks… “I’ve got blisters on my fingers!”
