Guess What Dockers Did...

No, it’s nothing bad. In fact, it’s pretty darn good news! Advertisements that target men today often appeal to the fleshly side and are just terrible. Dockers recently started an advertising campaign telling men they need to grow-up and be one! They have seen the lack of chivalry and even use the phrase “genderless society“. Pretty bold. They drew up a “Man-ifesto” and you can read it on their Website. Here’s what I want everyone to do:

Call up Dockers (1-866-290-6064) and let them know you love the new campaign and will support them.
Buy some Dockers clothes! They can be great Christmas presents!
If you can, encourage other retailers to adopt similar ad campaigns.
Finally, print out a PDF copy of the Man-ifesto I made and use it as segues in witnessing and hand them out to people along with Gospel tracts. This can be a great way to show people what really makes a man, and that is through Jesus Christ!

According to toptenz.net, Mod Cloth, along with 9 other online boutiques are the “Top 10 Fashion Websites That You’ve Never Heard Of.” Only, as I was scrolling down the list, I found that I shop at more than one of the online stores listed. I guess this just means I’m clothing obsessed.

The most interesting ones on the list include:

A hip t-shirt store for men and women with prices for every budget.

With its child-like illustrations, this blog offers cool DIY projects for the creatives out there. (And ones they’ve already done for the not-so creative.)

A new-clothes-with-a-vintage-feel site that feeds the need of vintage lovers everywhere. Prices range from $24-$300+.

The name says it all, is a hippie store with plenty of beads and tie-dye for everyone.

Finding some of these online hidden treasures could help boost your style from drab to fab. Keep your eyes and ears open, you never know what may come up.

A Shave by Any Other Name Would Look as Hot

Well unfortunately I don’t know Spanish, but I do know caliente when I see it. This video, and the guy in it, is most definitely caliente. It’s a wonderfully long video that unhurriedly shows every stage of a shave from the examination of rough stubble to lathering up to rubbing the freshly shaven skin. How much do I love YouTube? Let me count the ways.

Searching YouTube using the word “shaving” produces wonderful results, but I’ve branched out by using the word for “shave” and “shaving” in other languages, like “afeitar” (Spanish), “rasage” (French), “rasieren” (German), “scheren” (Dutch) and “rasatura” (Italian) with great results. I got these translations from Babel Fish.

Perhaps there are better search terms that Babel Fish neglects to give me. Maybe there are slang words or grammatical constructions that Babel Fish doesn’t know? If anyone knows these languages and can think of better search terms that might yield YouTube results, please let me know.

How to Hide / unhide friends posts / Application updates / news feeds on facebook wall

I killed myself finding a solution to unhide a FB App, so anyone facing a similar problem here is the solution.

How to hide Friends posts/ application updates / news feeds on facebook wall

First we will see how to hide the friends and applications posts and updates via news feed on the facebook wall.

This step requires simply goto facebook wall and taking your mouse pointer over the particular post/update on the wall.

You will see a hide button appearing on the right side of the post/ feed/ update.

When we click on the hide link on right side of the friends post or update, it will show us options as in the following image:

Now click on the hide drop down option for the friends post or update to be hidden from your facebook wall. Note that all the posts and updates from the particular friend or application will be removed from your facebook wall.

If you want to undo your action of hiding the friends post or news feed / application updates, as if you by mistake made it hidden, you can simply click the undo button as in the above image. This will restore the friends posts and updates on your facebook wall. But note that this option will vanish soon, so act fast if you want to make the friends update to not to be hidden. Other wise you will have to follow the following method to show the hidden posts on the facebook wall.

So now as in the above image, the post from the respective friend or application will be hidden and you will no longer be viewing the friends post or appliction updates via news feeds on your facebook wall from the one that you just hide.

Now we will discuss how to unhide the friends posts or application updates on your facebook wall once you have hidden them.

How to Unhide / restore Friends posts/ application updates / news feeds on facebook wall

If you once hide your friends posts or application updates on your facebook, and now you want to show them again by unhiding and restoring them, follow this method:

Edit: Make sure that you are on New Feeds and not on Live Feeds page.(See the images below to see the correct and wrong page – between news feeds and live feeds:)

This is wrong page (showing the Live Feed). Click on the View News Feed to goto News Feed page:

This is the correct page showing the News Feed:

Once on the correct page, goto the bottom of the facebook wall. There you will see a link saying show hidden posts and edit options.

If you only want to see certain news feed or friends update, you can only click on Show hidden posts and it will show you the posts and updates from your friends and applications that you hide before.

Now if you want the friends updates and posts to be unhide and be shown on your facebook wall, simply click on add to news feed in front of the friends name. This will unhide the news feeds of that person and show the friends posts back again on your facebook wall.

If you want any application updates to be unhide and to show them on your facebook wall that you previously hide, simply click on applications in the above place and it will show you the applications you have hidden before from facebook wall so that you can add them to news feed again to show the updates from them on your facebook wall. (Check the image below for the red circle around the Applications link in the same above popup box)

This way you can hide and unhide the friends posts and applications updates on your facebook home.

As a self-proclaimed life learner, I cannot believe how the internet never ceases to amaze me. The depth of knowledge one can find at their fingertips is breath-taking.

But with the depth of knowledge, comes a caveat- all the clutter. With every web site worth going to, it seems that there are three pages worth of garbage. Now communicators who rely on the internet must become/create/use opinion leaders to help them sort through the mess. Here now is my attempt to participate.

Below are two sites that I wholly believe are worth checking out. One of these two is currently in its “soft launch” and the other one, though only a little bit older, has already received acclaim and promotion of the NYTimes writers of the FREAKonomics blog (so naturally I had to check it out).

Hi!

Ok I havent been doing much that is constructive lately but I HAVE been doing a lot of procrastinating on the internet… which has lead to me finding some really cool websites!

Firstly… and kind of obviously there is MLIA, which is really funny (and a lot less depressing than FML) but it DOES waste A LOT of my time…

And then I discovered (Through MLIA) Mystery Google which is really cool! You basically search something up… just like google but you see the result of whatever the person immediately beffore you searched for! I didnt even know that this existed!!

Then there is the blogs that I follow…

And then obviously there is Facebook….

Any other cool sites or great blogs that anyone knows of?

With Christmas shopping on the agenda, postal strikes forever looming and London shops charging the same in ££s as their American counterparts do in $$s, BundleBox could be an interesting alternative.

They give UK shoppers a US address which is useful when shopping on sites that only accept American credit cards. Then they bundle purchases from different shops to save on international shipping costs. According to their site, purchases arrive in the UK in five working days.

Sounds good anyway. Haven’t tested it out, but may be worth exploring?

Spotted by Locals gives a unique perspective on a city that sometimes seems as if it’s been made for tourists. Posts are written by five 20-30 somethings who live in London and explore the bits that are off the beaten path as well as a few of those respected by locals and tourists alike.

Though it’s not updated as often as some London blogs, they’ve built up a nice collection of reviews and recommendations for sipping tea, having a drink, stopping for a bite, catching a gig, chilling out or checking out what’s on around town.
