It does a pretty good job keeping things cold considering it’s a soft-type cooler. It’s easy to carry, folds flat, and can be packed inside another bag when it’s not being used, making it good for traveling. The outside is made of a heavy canvas-like material, so it will probably be pretty durable. The inside liner is smooth and can be turned inside-out for easy cleaning if something leaks. As you can see from the picture, it’s gray and black and only has a small logo on one corner which makes it look more like a piece of luggage than a cooler. The only thing I could suggest as an improvement would be to have the handles adjustable so that they could be made into a shoulder strap. If you really fill it up, it can get quite heavy and a shoulder strap would be a nice feature. Overall, it’s a great cooler and the price was very reasonable.

I was disappointed in this item because it has no insulation. For me the greater need is to keep a bottle cool thruout the meal. This will do that OK, but then don’t expect it to cool down that second bottle you had not planned on drinking. I’m planning to keep my eye out for one of those foam covers people use on beer bottles, but in a size big enough for wine bottles.

This wine cooler exceeded my expectations. I wanted something simple, yet elegant, that can be placed on the dining table. This cooler does the trick! It is very sleek and elegant, and most importantly, produces absolutely no condesation! Not one drop of water will touch the table. It lasts a long time, you can drink a whole bottle calmly and be relaxed to know that it will stay cool throughout. I prefer to cool the wine in the fridge first, and then use the cooler to keep the temperature constant a long time.
It is also very portable and can be taken to any room in the house, with absolutley no hassle. What is also very important is that it needs no batteries or wires (wires cannot be placed on a dining table). I’m not sure if it would keep two bottles cooled back-to-back, haven’t tried it yet, but if it doesn’t, you can simply buy another ice pack and keep both of them in the freezer! I recommend this product 100%!

Serious drinkers/collectors should spend the money for a better product. However, if you are a casual drinker on a budget, this is a decent dual zone wine cooler for the price.

There are two zones with independent cooling and temperature control. The top zone is rated as 44-55F but the lowest I’ve gotten it with 70F ambient is 51F. It can maintain a fairly constant 55F in 80-85F ambient.
The bottom zone is rated as 54-64F but the lowest I’ve gotten it with 70F ambient is 57F. It can maintain a fairly constant 64F in 80-85F ambient.

It uses a basic automatic on/off control system. If the internal temperature goes above the target temperature, cooling turns on. If the internal temperature is at or below the target temperature, cooling turns off. If you set the target temperature to the lowest it can actually maintain based on your ambient (55F/64F in my case), you should expect 1- 2F fluctuations. If you set the target temperature to 1-2F below the lowest it can maintain (54F/63F in my case), you should expect 0-1F fluctuations.

Each zone has an internal fan that constantly runs to provide air circulation. The two external fans in the back constantly run as well and give off a low humming noise. It’s noticeable in a quiet room but easily drowned out by daily life.

The blue backlit LCD display is easy to read and the temperatures are easy to set. However, they decided to put the light switch on the inside for some reason. One light switch in the top zone turns on two LED lights, one in each zone.

Heat Exchanger Materials

Heat exchangers are typically constructed of copper cooling tubes or of a copper nickel alloy called cupro-nickle. The copper nickel alloy is most commonly done in a 90/10 ratio although 70/30 is available in limited applications. Heat exchangers built from 90/10 cupro-nickle tubes offer increased resistance to salt water corrosion and biofouling. Cupro-nickel does not corrode in seawater, because its electrode potential is adjusted to be neutral with regard to seawater.

What is a Heat Exchanger?

A heat exchanger is simply a device built for efficient heat transfer from one type of medium to another. Heat exchangers can be used to cool or to heat other devices. Examples of this abound in our personal life as air conditioning, refrigeration, heat pumps, heaters, radiators and other heat exchanger systems. The radiator in an automobile is a heat exchanger that transfers heat from the coolant which first flows through the engine block, gathering heat. The coolant then flows from the engine to the radiator where air flowing through the radiator fins removes some of the heat. The passenger heater in a car is also a heat exchanger.

Boats rarely have automotive style radiators because clean, steady air flow is too hard to attain. Instead of air moving across a heat exchanger, marine engines use the water the boat sits in to cool the hot engine fluids and exhaust gasses. In marine use, there are two primary ways to cool an inboard or I/O engine. These engines may be cooled with outside water running through the block and exhaust, this is a raw or sea water system. A sealed system of coolant cycled through the block and then into a heat exchanger which is cooled by external water is called a fresh water cooling system. You can also cool any type of oil – motor, hydraulic, power steering, transmission - with an oil cooler.

Fresh Water Cooling Systems

Conversion to a fresh water cooling system is typically done for boats being used in salt water. A Fresh Water Cooling System is a heat exchanger with all the parts to convert a raw water system to a closed loop cooling system. Beyond the heat exchanger, there is some plumbing and parts needed to install the system, including; belt driven raw water pump, heat exchanger mounts, gaskets, thermostat, thermostat housing, hoses, hose clamps, hose fittings, & fasteners. The biggest advantage of a fresh water cooling system is an increased life of all engine parts that were once in contact with the raw sea water. With fresh water cooling, there is reduced galvanic action to the engine cooling system.

Custom Built Heat Exchangers

Custom heat exchangers from Seakamp are available for varied vessel applications. Heat exchangers can be built to match:

The vessels engine displacement and horsepower

Hose connections to match the Inlet and Outlet for the engine

Hose connections to match the Inlet and Outlet for the Raw (Sea) Water

Outside Diameter of heat exchanger

Orientation and installation – vertical or horizontal

Flow rates and system pressure

These kits work on exactly the same principle as the Stage 1 kits, except that the controllers are heavier duty and can read up to 100psi of turbo boost. This is the typical starting point for a mildly modified modern 3/4 or 1 ton truck with an aftermarket exhaust, intake and chip or programmer. It is capable enough for trucks running large or compound turbo systems as well. These kits allow for great horsepower increases and EGT reductions – expect about 70hp and 250 degree F EGT drop. Now with Lifetime Warranty.

The Stage 3 Diesel Boost Coolers are some of the most comprehensive water-methanol injection kits Snow Performance makes. This controller senses not only manifold boost pressure but also exhaust gas temperatures. Using two inputs allows for the smoothest injection control. More importantly, it also keeps the EGTs as low as possible – if they begin to climb, even if the boost stays constant, the Stage 3 controller will read this and inject more water-methanol to compensate. The adjustments to the delivery on the fly are accomplished with two easy-to-use push buttons, allowing for more or less injection, or switching from both boost & EGT referenced injection (smoothest, best for towing and EGT control) to just boost referenced injection (most responsive, best for performance and racing).
New from Snow Performance is the only system proven to increase fuel economy in all load states – empty or while towing. Special mapping and the most sophisticated 2d digital controller available result in 1-3 MPG increases! The MPG-MAX system does not require a sustained high load state in order to provide maximum fuel economy gains. The MPG-MAX system uses a new injection management controller that allows for a small, steady spray of water/methanol to be injected across the entire power curve, at anything over normal cruising boost. This provides an increase in combustion efficiency which provides more power without injecting more diesel fuel. This increase in efficiency translates into an increase in fuel economy. Typical fuel economy increases are 10%-15% or 1-3 MPG.

The MPG-MAX system has a secondary output that is used to activate a Power Mode. The more sophisticated microprocessor introduces a independently mapped second stage of injection. A larger nozzle is used to inject more fluid to make more power. The Power Mode activation point is adjustable for best performance. The net effect is smooth power in all engine load states with no combustion quench resulting in a true turn-on-and-forget system.

It also now has a brighter Green LCD screen that displays boost, EGTs, and injection pump output. This means a savings of $200-$300 in gauges you do not have to buy. Will not adversely affect particulate matter filter like most other power adders

Does not leave a signature on vehicles computer so warranty is not jeopardized

The most advanced system on the market – true 2d mapping and 2 nozzles controlled independently for smooth power – always

The only system proven to improve fuel economy

Provides better fuel economy (1-3 MPG), more power (50-100 HP), and lower EGTs (150-300 F)

Dash mounted module – displays real time – no need for gauges

It calmly climbed up 12 feet onto a shelf in the beer cooler where it sat for about an hour while employees helped evacuate customers and summoned wildlife officials.

Officials from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources tranquilized the animal and took it out of the store. Store workers say the bear seemed content in the cooler and did not consume any alcohol.

Thursday, 10/15/09

I am a fool. Thursday was cold, damp, and rainy. Possibly the worst day possible to give Selena a bath. But I did it. The plan was to put a sheet on her but my waterproof turnout sheet was professionally cleaned and spotless so I decided to give her a bath so she would be clean under the clean sheet. It was as skilled as brain surgery. Well, maybe not, but it was quick and efficient and successful. My friend and I had an army of towels waiting as soon as I finished shampooing and rinsing Selena with warm water. I used Pantene Silver Expressions shampoo to try to bring out her silvery color. The smell is pleasant and it did a good job. We dried her with towels and wrapped her in two coolers and I walked her in the barn to keep her warm. She dried remarkably quickly! At the end of the night, I had a clean horse wearing a clean sheet, snug as a bug in her stall as the rain poured down. I brought Wizard out to the indoor arena and let him stretch his legs. After he played for a little while, I let JR do the same. Brrrrr. I drove home and took a hot shower :^)
