There really is no shortcut to copying XBOX games. In fact, this is a mightily complicated process a

There really is no shortcut to copying XBOX games. In fact, this is a mightily complicated process and has some really techie people perplexed. This is included with the prevalence of the question on copying XBOX games in Internet forums and chat-tech rooms. But why would we need to go over there and copying XBOX games? Is not it legal?

If you have an XBOX and you have purchased original games to play onit, chances are you have walked through a large chunk of your savings. Original games are very expensive and because CDs are not exactly immortal, you can use a game, especially when every minute of the day.

In order to give value to consumers, most countries allow original CD buyers either make backup copies of their XBOX games in case their original got damaged or lost gone, if they are to expect from the term against piracy and that theyactually own the original CD, and are only copying XBOX games designed for personal use.

While it is relatively easy copying of XBOX games to do, you can not say, but in reality with the XBOX games that you have copied. Most software contain an encryption that must be met when inserted in an XBOX. Copy an Xbox game, but do not copy this encryption. This is a protection system that most Xbox consoleshave as protection against flagrant copying of XBOX games.

To be able to XBOX games that you have copied, run, you need to modify your XBOX. This can be a daunting task especially for beginners who fear the destruction of their Xbox with their tinkering.

According to most tech experts, there are lots of ways to modifying your XBOX to the practice of copying of XBOX games needs. Some arecomplicated and only a tech expert could do while other ways can be expensive but easy.

One is to buy and install a MOD-chip. This will allow your console to play XBOX games that you have copied as well as play imported games from other countries with perfect sound and video with no problem at all. While it may seem that all you have to do is purchase a MOD-Chip and then voila, you have another think coming. There are actually a lot of things that you should when you buy a mod chip. Most recommend the Divineo Modchips, which pretended to be really reliable. Some of the best known brands are the bits Xecuter 2 a.m. to 3 p.m., Xenium, SmartXX, X-, Alladin, Chameleon and Xchip.

Another way of copying and use of Xbox games is to change the BIOS of the Xbox so that it is no longer displayed with the requirements of the digitally signed software. This is essentially an adaptation of the entire BIOS.

You might also consider purchasing alarger hard drive and save all the games in the XBOX. In this way, you already have a copy of your favorite games inside and would no longer need to switch CDs.

The third option is to do with the game swapping technique, wherein you first boot the original CD and then swap the copy once it has already booted. This can be very complicated and does not really serve your purpose copying your XBOX games … that to preserve your originalCDs.

Many moons ago, Apple announced to the cheering masses that iTunes should now be freed by and large of the ridiculous DRM which hinders legal and illegal users of content alike.

A new study reveals that Apple mobile product users actually have been trained by the App Store or other means to pay for more media than others do.

OK, so isn’t this contradictory? Surely DRM free will mean less overall payment for media since more devices of multiple-owning, and hardcore purchasing, Apple fans will use the media available? Well, yes.

Of course, this is saying that Apple iTunes and mobile device users are happy to pay for data. Not so. I believe that – as an owner myself – it is possible that the torture cell of paying is what’s going on here and that less payment means even more willing users, even if those users were resigned to paying in the first place.

When I was a young teenager, one of my interests was studying the Second World War, especially the n

When I was a young teenager, one of my interests was studying the Second World War, especially the navies and naval encounters. I read a lot of books on the subject and also assembled quite a number of plastic model warships. After assembling them, I painted them, melted and stretched plastic for rigging and added flags. So in addition to learning about naval history during this period, I also began to learn a little about the selection of products the various manufacturers of plastic model kits brought to the market.

One manufacturer made each model one foot in length, so each was to a different scale – not an issue with just one ship, but annoying if one had several. But more significantly, I noticed that the product range each of the various model kit manufacturers showed some interesting similarities. Of course, everyone made a Bismark, an HMS Ark Royal, a USS Enterprise – the WW II ship as well as the nuclear-powered carrier still in operation – an HMS King George V, an HMS Hood, a USS Missouri, a couple of Japanese carriers and the huge Japanese battleship Yamato. But most surprising was that every manufacturer of these model kits had a USS Pennsylvania.

As enthusiasts of this period of history will be aware, the USS Pennsylvania was one of the American Navy’s battleships damaged during the attack on Pearl Harbor and which went on to serve in several engagements throughout the war. However, as many other American battleships had comparably distinguished war records and some earned more battle stars, I found it surprising that these plastic model manufacturers had all chosen to make a model of this one ship.

I didn’t give the matter much more thought at the time but over the years, I began to notice other product categories in which the product ranges on offer were remarkably similar or all had specific omissions. For example:
l    In both Canada and Australia, I have found it difficult to buy blue business suits that are not navy blue;
l    The breakfast cereals I at when growing up in Canada all came in boxes with reclosable lids.  However, during my first decade in Australia, no breakfast cereal boxes in this country had reclosable lids;
l    When I was building my own house in the 1980s, only two window manufacturers in the whole of Sydney made double-glazed windows;
l    At the same time, I observed that the designs of residential house doors were remarkably similar and no Australian door manufacturer made doors featuring angled timber;
l    When I last checked, no Australia bank offered a personal chequing account with a recipient stub that would stay with the cheque when sent to advise the recipient what the cheque was for;
l Also when I last checked, no manufacturer of telephone systems anywhere in the world manufactures digital handsets with the handpiece on the right that would suit a left-handed person.

So what’s going on here? Is or was there no demand in the market for blue suits that aren’t navy blue, reclosable cereal boxes or double-glazed windows, etc? An all too widespread assumption in marketing departments is that if a competitor has chosen to not offer a product or service, that choice must have been based on extensive market research, prototyping and focus groups. Why? Because they just “must” have. So the “normal” practice is to copy the competition but not make any effort to better them. It’s safer to not rock the boat. This leads to one rule of marketing which you won’t find in any textbook:

      A company won’t lose business by not offering what no one else offers.

A few things have changed since I first made the above observations. I was able to buy double-glazed windows, but if more companies made them, I could probably have arranged a better price. I was also able to buy angled timber doors when, as I was about to have them custom made, I discovered a company importing them from, of all places, Swaziland. I haven’t revisited these issues since but when I renovated another house some years later, I instead double-glazed every window by making my own inserts for a total of $1,300. I have stopped buying suits in Australia close to 20 years ago and have had them tailor made in Asia where they unhesitatingly offer blue fabrics other than navy blue as well as green, another colour Australian menswear retailers refuse to sell.

Perhaps most interestingly, from the mid 1990s, all manufacturers of breakfast cereals introduced boxes with reclosable lids. Did consumers complain to manufacturers on mass demanding these lids? Did they all find a demand for them from their own market research at about the same time? Not bloody likely. One company introduced them and the others quickly hopped on board. Follow the leader.

Students of marketing will be well aware of the four Ps: price, place, promotion and product. However, as these examples illustrate, there are too many market segments in which the suppliers focus on price and promotion and, to a lesser extent place, but are reluctant to address product – fear of product differentiation. Don’t better your competition because, like an arms race, next week or next year, they’ll better you and you’ll be behind. If one menswear retailer offered a green suit, there would be a risk that another would offer three.

Henry Ford may not have actually have said, “they can have any colour they want as long as it’s black”, a line widely attributed to him. Model Ts and Model As were sold only in black, although it was because black paint dried faster than paint in other colours. However, did General Motors copy Ford?

General Motors could have followed Ford, fearing that if they offered three colours, Ford would counter with five. But they didn’t. Under the leadership of Alfred P. Sloan in the early 1920s, General Motors offered “customised” models to each customer including a choice of colours. General Motors clearly didn’t fear product differentiation and never looked back, leading global car sales from 1931 until 2007.

Unfortunately, for the 12-15% of people who are left-handed, the wait for left-handed handsets shows no sign of ending.

These are paintings, not photographs. They are painted in oils, from scratch, copied from photographs. They are not scanned and mechanically printed, or painted over a scanned and printed image, but are hand painted by a talented individual who can do magic from a photo.

Because they are hand painted from scratch, a photo that needs to be changed a little can be. So if there is some flaw in the picture, the background isn’t right, a tree branch is in the way — whatever — the artist can change it, including colors of stuff.

The painted is Chinese, one of thousands of Chinese who make their living copying other people’s creative work, whether from a photo, an art book or someone else’s painting. There is a very wide range of quality, masters and students, craftsmen and scam artists — literally.

I’ve worked with several and narrowed it down to this guy and one other who specializes in landscapes.

These take about three weeks to get from an e-mailed photo to a finished oil on canvas, shipped to you. The cost is pretty good. Depending on the subject (and how many subjects — like faces), the cost for a 16 X 20 painting is less than $200 delivered to you. Landscapes are a little less, believe it or not. Usually we can get the price a little lower.

The hard part about oil paintings is that the framing is so expensive. I haven’t figured out how to do custom framing and beat the shipping cost from China. Frames here are incredibly cheap and the quality is excellent. Most people want to pick the frame to match the painting and shipping a framed painting kind of takes some of the savings out of the deal. Sooooooo, for now, at least it’s framing somewhere in the U.S. or wherever you are.

Box framing, where the painting is stretched over a wooden frame and doesn’t show on the painting itself is very economical.

If you’re interested in talking about one or more of these, just let me know.

Imitation is the sincerest of flattery. Charles Caleb Colton When does inspiration turn to outright

Imitation is the sincerest of flattery. Charles Caleb Colton

When does inspiration turn to outright copying?

I’m sure everyone takes inspiration from others ‘…I like how that bail is attached..’ ‘…that way of stone setting would be great with my…’ Classes, workshops, online tutorials, YouTube, magazine projects, books we all see the same projects and as beginners we might try to make the exact project…taking that aside when do you say the line between inspiration and actually copying has been crossed?

I believe different people coming up with similar designs is fairly common, after all we all start somewhere using the same materials and the same tools. Think about disc cutters and dapping tools or form folding ala Charles Lewton Brain, so many similar designs come from these techniques and tools.

Further, when you come across a member of your community who has crossed the line, what is the appropriate action?

On one of my bi-weekly, time wasting cruises through an online shopping site’s metalwork ring catagory I saw some pieces that I recognized by style; I admire the seller’s creativity and execution of the work. However, upon closer inspection of the new pieces I noticed…it was an entirely different seller.

I brought up both shops and looked at pieces side by side ..my jaw dropped, literally dropped. It’s not that the pieces are similar, some pieces are in fact almost identical. If it wasn’t for the marker’s mark on the back I think anyone {but the actually makers} would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the pieces. I checked the shop & sales dates it’s pretty clear who was the originator, I was so disappointed to find the person I admired is the imitator.

Do we let the parties work it out themselves? Should the imitator be outed, shamed and shunned? Or, do we just look the other way and pretend we don’t see it? As a community, are we obligated to watch out for each other? Personally, I feel the fool – I complimented this person on many occasions – geez, I actually gushed about the work…I ‘m feeling a tad bitter.

As I mentioned briefly in Of Corset Is, in my personal opinion I believe that the true purpose of cosplay is not to achieve the most correct costume of the character, but to capture as closely as possible the essence and personality of the character. It is important to remember that despite what the image on hand shows you, you are your own person, and unless you adapt the cosplay to be true both to yourself as well as to the character you are portraying, the cosplay will never really hit the mark. I have seen some really wonderful cosplays, but the cosplayer donning them had spent so much effort on getting the exact pattern of brocade for their Ten-Ten tassles, that they forgot to affect her airs and that particular feeling we associate with her. I’m (a tiny bit) less fussy about anime and video-game type cosplays than Visual Kei or Jrock ones, because with VK and Jrock we are attempting to affect the styles of a real person, and besides that– I’m just wicked touchy about the subject.

The reason I have chosen to feature these particular cosplays, is because the cosplayers have done an exceptional job not only at piecing together the outfits, makeup, and hair-styles, but they have also worked to portray as closely as possible this elusive essence of the object of cosplayification.

Stay tuned to Secret Garden…

I was at the L&H’s god debate last night, where the motion put was “That this house believes it is rational to believe in god” (well, according to some of the speakers anyway). I got home to find an e-mail in my inbox (well, several, but one of particular interest). Evidently Herself had found a Boards.ie thread about Jesus, the man himself. So, without further delay, I give you a list of characters who appears before Christianity and the common characteristics -

Gautama Buddha: born of the virgin Maya around 600 BC

Dionysus: Greek god, born of a virgin in a stable, turned water into wine.

Quirrnus: An early Roman saviour, born of a virgin

Attis: born of a virgin Nama in Phrygia around 200 BC

Indra: born of a virgin in Tibet around 700 BC

Adonis: Babylonian god, born of the virgin Ishtar

Krishna: Hindu deity, born of a virgin Devaki in around 1200 BC

Zoroaster: born of a virgin 1500-1200 BC

Mithra: born of a virgin in a stable on the 25th of December around 600 BC. His resurrection was celebrated at Easter.

Y’know, if I were writing a story about a guy I knew and wanted to make him seem like a kick-ass super-deity, I reckon I’d steal loads of these characteristics too.

So, just like we’ve seen a stack of vampire movies aimed at teenagers since Twilight came out, we also see a copycat effect of all those “deities” that preceded the character of Jesus. Dude, what a cheat! I mean, if you’re going to copy stuff from your predecessors, at least a) Don’t get caught and b) Make it something deadly that you steal! I mean, he could’ve chosen to shoot fireballs out of his ears or throw lightening bolts… but a virgin birth? Ok, turning water into wine is a fantastic party trick, but not very good at getting you out of stick situations.

So, what I’m saying is, this Jesus guy (or the guys who made up a story about some poor shmuck, who just had a couple of good ideas about being nice to each other, then turned it into an all-controlling tyrannical organisation) really should’ve made some better career moves. Out with the virgin birth, in with the fireballs.

If you have an Xbox 360 certainly wondered if you backup copy, or Xbox 360 games. With current technology, "which you can readily and easily copy your Xbox games to be sure. With video games is as expensive as they will be to secure as many players and copy their games just in case the original is scratched or damaged.

Each time you will reduce your video games are the games of life, that is toojust a fact. Some games that are due to normal wear and just plain old wrong handling. If you are playing games or disc that scratched or removed several times, more often than not, these games can not be repaired, the main reason for the copy is your game.

For me it's just no point, $ 50 to $ 60 on a game disc that can be invested very easily damaged, so I have always my own copy. The first thing I do when I have a Buynew game to copy it and build it again. Burned on a CD from me and will support it, I'll never buy the same video game twice, just in case something happens to my original. Many people tend to only their use and their burned copy original copy in a safe place.

They are aware of Xbox 360 games you can not copy your typical DVD-burning software, you must use a game, the copying of software specifically for this purpose. This type of software isBurn make the games a breeze. You maintain the ability to tell your burned copy of the original everything stays the same.

It is very easy to copy Xbox 360 games and start backing up Xbox 360 games to start the game, so that the copying of software to protect your games now.

Those of you who include copyright in your library tutorials know how tricky this law can be For some great resources on teaching fair use and copyright, try these resources:

Teaching Copyright.org
http://www.teachingcopyright.org/ This website is straightforward and objective. It offers lesson plans for teaching copyright in the classroom. What I like about this site is that its goal is to cut through the misinformation out there.

Copyright Chart
http://www.mediafestival.org/copyrightchart.html I took an entire semester of copyright in library school and I still get confused from time to time, so I find this chart to be a handy quick reference.

SCT Media overviews
http://www.mediaeducationlab.com/
This site has great sing along music videos, PowerPoint slide shows and more to help teach copyright and information literacy.

Copyright for educators
This is a fairly long video, but filled with helpful information about using copyrighted materials in the classroom.

The Center for Social Media
http://www.centerforsocialmedia.org/resources/fair_use/
This is an amazing resource. With videos and handouts it covers fair use, satire, parody, Internet remixing, photocopying classroom materials, showing videos in the classroom, and many other relevant topics.

My favorite video has always been A fair(y) Use tale by Eric Faden of Bucknell. The video can be found on the TJ library web site.

And if you are looking for copyright-friendly files, Copyright Friendly is a wiki with a plethora of links for you.

If you are the lucky owner of a XBOX 360, you may have questioned if there’s a way to make cop

If you are the lucky owner of a XBOX 360, you may have questioned if there’s a way to make copies of games on your computer. Today we’re going to look at exactly the way it’s possible to make copies of XBOX 360 games.

As you probably already know, you aren’t able to use an ordinary CD burning software to copy XBOX games. The reason for this is that normal burning software can’t make sense of XBOX discs. It may sound funny, but your computer just can’t read the info on the XBOX game at first. So that your computer to be able to read the games you must have a specialized game copying piece of software.

There are now unique video game copying softwares that are developed to let your computer to read XBOX games. The use an advanced technology that is able to bypass any protections on the disc. This will make it possible to burn XBOX 360 games with your disc drive.

Just a quick note – The businesses that develop these kinds of programs sell it for legal copying of XBOX 360 games. If you own a XBOX 360 game and you wish to copy it for backup purposes only, you can legally use this software. This article isn’t promoting any illegal production of XBOX discs..

It’s really easy to utilize these softwares. As soon as you install the software, it pretty much operates automatically. You just need to open it up when you wish to backup a video game. With a couple of clicks of the mouse you’ll be on your way.

You will simply place the XBOX game in your disk drive and your computer system will create a disc image. Once the image has been made, you just throw in a blank CD and the game info is transferred onto the disc.

When you buy a program for copying video games, look for a moneyback guarantee. On the rare chance you are not happy with it or it does not work on your computer, then you have a method to get your moneyback.

And please don’t pay too much! That may be obvious – I’m sure you are searching for the best price. Sadly there are some software cost over $85 – this is way too expensive. The most popular program I’ve seen is far less than $50.

Copying XBOX games is a great way to make backups of all your favorite games – happy gaming!

I am sure that there is someone out there with sufficient legal knowledge who can answer this: when

I am sure that there is someone out there with sufficient legal knowledge who can answer this: when you buy an album (record, cd, tape Blu-Ray whatever)… what do you actually buy?

Do you buy a physical product or do you buy the right to enjoy a non-physical product (meaning: the music)? In most countries, you are allowed to make a back-up copy of a cd that you bought. In the old days, this would have meant that you would copy your vinyl album to a tape. Which was great, because that meant you could listen to it in your car. Hurray!

(il)legal copying
With modern CD’s for the majority of us, with insufficient technological knowledge, it’s been made useless (if not: virtually impossible) to make a back-up copy. Sure, you can still copy from CD to tape (if you can find a device that still plays tapes), but you cannot copy from CD to computer, other CD or mp3 player unless you apparently break some law or other. And of course, you’ll have to buy a CD that hasn’t been protected. Anyway;
If you buy a CD, is it then still illegal to download a mp3 version of that same album for your iPod or laptop? I’m guessing it is, but I can’t figure out the logic behind this.

Two’s company
There are only two reasons I can think of and both seem ridiculous.

1. you do not buy the right to enjoy the music. You only buy the right to play the carrier. Why would this be ridiculous? Well, if you have a nail and a wall you would like to drive the nail into, but you do not own a hammer… it would be illegal for you to borrow a hammer from your neighbour.

2. You are not allowed to download a mp3 version of an album you legally bought, because this would make it too easy for other people to illegally download that product as well. In this case, even though it is generally agreed that you are in fact not doing anything wrong, but your actions coud potentially make it easier for someone else to do something illegal. For which you are then punished. This would be even worse than Tom Cruise in Minority Report (which, admitted, wasn’t a bad film at all….)

The proof of the album is in the downloading
If you are still with me, I think it is safe to assume that you do not find this subject boring. The reason why these questions could be interesting is because it may be interesting to know what record companies actually do, now that the actual record has become obsolete. Artists can record, produce and distribute from the comfort of their own coffeeshop with the help of nothing more than a laptop computer and internet connection. Why do we need record companies at all? Because they provide something called ‘marketing’ to their ‘product’ ? And for that, do they deserve to get the majority of all the revenue? I think most of us will agree that the artist that made that lovely music, deserves to make a buck off it. But you just may feel differently about the guy in a suit on the top floor om some office building.

As I remember shouting along at a Biohazard concert, somewhere around 1995: “Music for you and me, not the fucking industry…“

[It's pretty obvious that the average CollegeCandy reader has some very strong opinions. Opinions that she likes to share with everyone on the site. We love a strong woman, so we thought we'd give her a real forum to discuss her thoughts, feelings, and perspectives. Every Friday I'll be featuring a hot topic (like what is cheating!) and leaving it up to you, the readers, to duke it out. So, read it and get your debate on in the comments section below!]

Alright, since we spent last week debating what it means to cheat in a relationship, it only seems right to figure out what the other kind of cheating means – the kind that involves teachers. Everybody thinking dirty things about teachers, get your mind out of the gutter (for now). Seriously though, we’ve all read the school policies about cheating and plagarism, but at the same time, most of us have done something that we wouldn’t really want the school to know about. How guilty should we really feel? It’s time to duke it out!

There are some things we can pretty much all agree are cheating – copying a paper word for word (or Wikipedia *cough cough*), sneaking a peek at someone else’s test answers. But what if you take someone else’s info and reword it? Or if you take the ideas from another work and write it out your own way. Afterall, most scholars read other papers on their topics and get ideas from them that they craft into thier own work and that’s not considered cheating. True, scholars add things to the information they borrow, but if you do the same thing, then is it ok? And what if you don’t borrow much? What if it’s just one sentence? Or just a quote that you forgot to mark? According to most school regulations that could qualify as cheating – and get you kicked out.

You also get into an inky area when it comes to “study groups”. On the one hand, it can be helpful and legit to get a bunch of people together to work on something tough, but if you’re coming up with the same answers and ideas, then it’s not very different than mental plagiarism. And with math and science classes, the problem only gets more complex because one person almost always comes up with the answer first, leaving everyone else to basically copy it down.

Oh and let’s not forget the other side of this equation – what if aren’t the person using someone else’s work, but someone selling work to be used by others? All of those term paper sites and test answer keys floating around come from somewhere. Someone out there is selling the work; does that count as cheating?

Ok, what do you think? How seriously would you take the word “cheating” and how far would you push it? Put it to a vote in the comments!

Jon Ryan – A viral short for Dim Mak’s clothing line

Those hipster’s, always taking something from the past and trying to pass it off as authentic, new, and their own.

I don’t even understand how Dim Mak wants this video tied to their brand. Its shot and cut horribly. I mean, the concept was already there, how shit are you if you cant even copy something decently?

at least the camera man is good at framing up his shots:
