This past weekend was eventful – frustrating at times, amusing, entertaining, and embarrassing as well.

It started well, with a visit to Cora’s with Daniel and Robert. Robert didn’t disappoint, delighting me with his incessant need for sugar consumption. The effects of all that sugar is always a delight to behold. We got up to Embolden, for a 3pm talk on Meditation.

Now, there are certain individuals within Toronto’s pagan community who do not delight me in any shape or form. But they exist for various reasons. The individual who sat there, waiting to start his talk on meditation, is one such individual. It was unfortunate that he chose to talk about Buddhism instead of “Meditation 101″; whether he understood what was expected, or if he chose to ignore such a request and carry on discussing what Buddhism, I don’t know. I did find value in what he spoke about, as I view each “talk” I attend as a learning opportunity – either about the topic, or about myself.

My young friend was frustrated and I had to remind him to calm down. Maybe because of the challenges I’ve faced in the past 2 years with regards to my health I tend to be more patient than before, and have learnt not to worry about items/situations out of my control. My friend did manage to calm down. The fellow presenting the talk can be quite exasperating, but instead of fuming and complaining, what one should do (and my friend did this, so I applaud him for this) is offer to do a talk and contribute in some fashion instead of being a passive complainer.

As I said, the fellow can be exasperating, to such a point that one lady left in the middle and another friend chose to leave immediately after the talk because it made him either feel uncomfortable or there was a slight distaste for the presentation.

Afterwards it was onto the Sex Show down at Exhibition Place. I got to beat Robert a few times, and had the great fun of thrusting a few vibrators against this Little Robert. The rolling eyes were quite fun, and more so his shivers of delight over being beaten. I think I’ve found a new activity which I can thoroughly enjoy… not necessarily beating Robert, but I liked the heft of the horsetail and the effects it can have when used on bare flesh.

Yesterday it was my Survival Piss-up. I was reminded a wee while ago that it cannot be my piss-up if I don’t drink. I promised to imbibe one alcoholic drink … ONE. Tarotcub immediately got me a Fuzzy Navel, which I drank (it was good, I quite liked it). Then there was a bit of a discussion with regards to what my next drink would be. I ended up having four cocktails. I did feel a tad fuzzy and at one point my toes felt numb. But the effects wore off rather quickly and by the time I left the pub I was stone cold sober.

For my friends reading this blog, this does not mean you can now delight in getting me even more drinks. I may have enjoyed the Fuzzy Navel and other cocktails, but I have no plans of drinking at every social occassion. Again, I will have to be guilted into it, and I believe I have found ways to resist this “peer pressure”.

My head is spinning somewhat. Under our roof, the search for detail, that detail which provides the colour and shading for the outline that the common or garden Nativity provides, continues and is ever-dizzying. I mean, of course, that the study of the asteroids is ongoing and all-consuming.

Today he tells me I have a Cazimi Cora in Cancer. Cora is an alternate name for the Greek Goddess Persephone, daughter of Demeter. (Also known, of course, as Proserpina and Ceres.) She is the embodiment of the Earth’s fertility, so it should be no great surprise that I have four children and only stopped because I “had to”.

More importantly, however, she was abducted by Hades, Lord of the Underworld and separated from her mother. (Cazimi Cora in Cancer, ruled by the Moon which, coincidentally, I have in the 8th so something I have to give up?) Wikipedia, I might mention, also has this to add: “This myth also can be interpreted as an allegory of ancient Greek marriage rituals. The Classical Greeks felt that marriage was a sort of abduction of the bride by the groom from the bride’s family, and this myth may have explained the origins of the marriage ritual.“

I have previously mentioned the fact that Jupiter is transiting my natal Odysseus, Odysseus being exile, ex-patriate, feeling rootless or homeless, a stranger in a strange land, being sent away from “home”. I have mentioned that I am exiled from my family.

And here we have the illuminating piece of the puzzle that has enabled my family to project onto my lovely astrologer the personification of Hades (and those of you who know him will be laughing aloud by now). No protestation can dissuade them – indeed any protestation appears to be protesting too much. I have been abducted by the evil Lord of the Underworld. So here we are, Persephone and Hades (or Proserpina and Pluto), in exile.

And again the cry goes up: Nothing in this astrology lark, is there?

I am very happy with the way this is looking.  There are no shoulder seams.  You knit down from the back.It nice to do something different.  The yarn is a lovely combination of cotton, wool and nylon.  It feels soft and is easy to knit.

Astăzi este ziua soției mele.

De fiecare dată când este ziua ei, mă gândesc și la mine  Știu că sună egoist, dar ascultați-mă vă rog, până la capăt.

Mă gândesc cum ar fi fost viața mea fără ea. O viață în care să călătoresc singur. Ar fi fost o viață sumbră și posacă. În 2001 ne-am căsătorit și de atunci călătorim împreună în fiecare zi.

Cora este tovarășa mea. Fără ea aș fi foarte trist.

Este un bun sfătuitor. Fără ea aș fi de multe ori în derivă.

Ea este cea care mă încurajează enorm dar și cea care mă aduce cu picioarele pe pământ. Este plină de compasiune și are o inimă mare. Iubește copiii. Îi iubește și pe bătrâni la fel de mult.

Prin ea, Dumnezeu a dăltuit caracterul meu. Și cred că încă mai are de lucru.

Cora este meticuloasă. Extrem de responsabilă în lucrurile importante. Fără ea, portofelul meu ar rămâne mereu gol. Cu ea însă, portofelul nu se golește foarte repede. Știu dragi bărbați, sunt foarte “norocos”

Cora este și o noră “aproape perfectă”. Sunt convins că dacă ar exista socrii perfecți, Cora ar fi prima noră ideală. A fost o încântare pentru mine să o văd în bucătărie cu mama râzând și glumind “ca între fete”.

Mai mult ca orice, o iubesc pentru că îl iubește pe Dumnezeu din toată inima ei. O iubesc pentru că este gata să-L slujească pe Domnul cu tot ce are. O iubesc pentru că se roagă și se jertfește pentru noi. O iubesc pentru că știe să facă plăcinte cu brânză, ca la Moldova. O iubesc pentru dărnicia ei. O iubesc pentru zâmbetul ei molipsitor. O iubesc pentru că … o iubesc. Pur și simplu.

Dreptate are Scriptura când spune

Casa și averea le moștenim de la părinți, dar o nevastă pricepută este un dar de la Domnul.

Cine găsește o nevastă bună, găsește fericirea; este un har pe care-l capătă de la Domnul.

PS:

Am uitat să vă spun încă ceva despre Cora. Cunoaște din memorie data de naștere a tuturor prietenilor noștri, rudelor, cunoscuților, dușmanilor, vecinilor, colegilor de școală, păstorilor, președinților, etc. Azi dimineață mi-a amintit că tot astăzi este și ziua următoarelor persoane: Fonu Văran ( diacon în biserica noastră ), Dorin Popa ( singurul meu cumnat ) și Viluța ( membră în biserica noastră ).

Vă dorim multă binecuvântare și mulți ani alături de Domnul Isus.

At least it’s not raining any more.  We had some flooding in the yard.  I am so glad we had our bulkhead done a foot higher than the rest.Cora had a grand time.  She was outside most of the day.  Now, she’s sound asleep on the living room rug.

Cora is SUCH a sweet sister to Flower – most of the time. The age difference isn’t ideal for playing together so I appreciate it that much more when the two get along. But they have their moments…

Flower called me on the phone very upset – Cora wasn’t playing nice! She was supposed to have a girl barbie to play with her own girl barbie but Cora picked a BOY. And then she wasn’t following the script. And then she made up her OWN script. And then…”Cora’s barbie called the cops on MY barbie!!” she wailed into the phone.

EEE, consegui encontrar alguns esmaltes neon e bem clarinhos e vivos, e uns aprendi o “truque” de deixa-los mais claros e mesmo assim  lindos *-*

Até que a Marce me levou ao bom senso e sugeriu que misturasse branco puro aos esmaltes!

Procurei e encontrei já prontos algumas dessas cores, as demais eu misturei com branco e deu supercerto \o/

A big universo lançou esse rosa mega neon e LINDO, é um pouco diferente do da foto acima mas eu achei esse bem mais legal e diferente, o lilás eu fiz com uma camada de cada, primeiro o da sancion angel e o cora por cima, outro grande lançamento da big universo foi esse verde-frapê de abacate, amei *-*, e pra não repetir uma cor, usei esse turquesa que é LINDO, mas misturado com branco!

Mas, você pode se perguntar: E comofaaasss essa tal mistura? Pois bem: Pegue um pote qualquer e pingue umas 3 gotas de cada esmalte…3 de branco, 3 ou 4 da cor desejada. Mistura bem, e pronto! Passe logo antes que seque!

It makes for very difficult blogging.  I’ve got two more baby socks to show you and some great pictures of Cora.

WHEN … you never don any bathing suit whatsoever … the locals are wearing uggs and toboggans … you visit the community pool and the only thing getting in is the resident frog … you are trying to find a sunny spot and no shade … you are wearing 2 pairs of pants,  4 shirts and hoods … you’re drinking coffee outside … the only thing seen on the beach is your eyes … THEN YOU KNOW you are on vacation at the beach and it is FREEZING!

WHEN … you are on vacation at the beach and it is freezing but you don’t care … THEN YOU KNOW your kids are happy and that is so what matters to you.

we just got back from our first just-us vacation – no parents or extra helpers. brooke, david and thomas joined us for part of the time but since they have a 2 year old of their own, can you believe they were not dedicated to our beck and call?! we loved having extended time with them and especially for the cousins to have more time to play together than they ever have. it was truly special. THANK YOU, aunt b and uncle d, for lending us your condo and making this vacation possible! we wish you could have stayed longer!

so i exaggerated a little. it was only really cold for about 4 days of our week there. those days were spent with lots of toys inside as well as finding any and all playgrounds in the area. the boys loved that! the first and last days, we did put on shorts and had some great times at the beach. we will not forget:

> experiencing the most beautiful sunsets with our children the last 3 nights on the beach  > maddox praising the Lord at the top of the hill at alys beach playground (see video)  > thomas and maddox playing with each other and not just around each other  > cora having such happy times with her aunt b  > maddox getting his clock cleaned by a slide that he whapped his head on at the rosemary beach playground. he was flat on his back and did not move for what seemed like an eternity, but was FINE about 1 minute later. whew.  > maddox running, wrestling don and throwing sand on the beach after something clicked for him and he started loving it after … um … NOT loving it back in may. THIS is what i envisioned.  > cora following in her brother’s footsteps and getting her first taste of the beach (see video)  > uncle d reading green eggs and ham  > maddox sporting cora’s pants (think tight knickers) at a playground after wetting through his. what a perk of having a skinny 2 year old who doesn’t care what he’s wearing or that it’s 50 degrees outside.
