There are 7 exhibits you should not miss at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea. The Organizing Committee unveils hidden treasures today.

★ The Kingdom of Belgium Pavilion- Diamond

The Kingdom of Belgium Pavilion has displayed diamond jewelry collection, ‘You and me.’ The collection is worth six hundred million won (approximate half a million US dollars).

<Life>

The most expensive one is a pair of earrings named ‘Life,’ and it sets with 216 brilliant full cut diamonds weighing a total of 14.04 carat. The price of earrings is estimated about one hundred million won (approximate a hundred thousand US dollars).

Also, two diamonds rings named ‘Me searching for you’ set with 162 brilliant full cut diamonds weighing a total of 18.14 carat. Rings are worth about eighty million won (approximate sixty thousand dollars).

★    Lithuania Pavilion- Amber

<Amber>

The concept of Lithuania Pavilion is about amber. You can watch ambers at Yeosu Expo which were formed about fifteen million years ago and each is worth twenty million won (approximate ten thousand US dollars).

Especially, lizard amber fossil is priceless as only seven lizard amber fossils exist in the world. The fossil has just arrived in Yeosu from Lithuania Balanga National Amber Museum which had exhibited it.

★    Italy Pavilion- Corallium Rubrum

A bright red Corallium Rubrum only inhabits the Mediterranean and is rare to be found as it is a kind of Common gorgonian. The Common gorgonian is believed that it inhabits in very harsh condition.

Top-rated corals, called the dove-blood color, among Corallium Rubrum are exhibited at Italy Pavilion. These red corals are fished and processed in Torre del Greco near Naples, Italy.

The red corals are restrictively allowed to collect for protection of nature and the usual asking price for a coral like this is some thousand million won (approximate 850,000 US dollars).

★ Switzerland Pavilion- Ice core formed about 10,000 years ago

Switzerland, which is called fountainhead of Europe, shows real glaciers at a depth of 82m of ice cap of Gnifetti-Spitze. Exhibited ice core is 3.5m in length and 8.5cm in diameter and is old as the history of Korean Peninsula. It is estimated to be between 1,500 years and 14,771 years old. Thus, water preserved in the ice core means “the purity” as it is.

It is obvious for the ice core to be of great value judging from the facts that the ice age is the same as the history of Korea, it gives valuable information to analyze geological features and climate of the past and it is made of clear and pure water.

★ Ocean and Coast Best Practice Area (OCBPA)- Gliders for exploration and the Galapagos turtles

<Elephant turtles inhabited in Galápagos Islands>

Glider for oceanographic observation at OCBPA, which is worth about two hundred fifty million won (approximate two hundred thousand US dollars), is a kind of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle. However, it is not widely used as its high price. The Korean Government purchased three gliders last year and the gliders were test-operated for oceanographic observation at East Sea.

Also, the exhibited stuffed turtles, which are elephant turtles inhabited in Galápagos Islands, are endangered mammal. Thus, the turtles are so precious that they are priceless.

★ Sweden Pavilion- The Nobel Prize Dinner Tableware

The Nobel Prize Dinner Tableware exhibited at Sweden Pavilion has been used for 800 to 900 people a year since 1991. The Dinner Tableware is used for Nobel Prize winners, royal family and prime minister. Even though it is worth about two million won (approximate one thousand six hundred US dollars), it is much meaningful and valuable in that the Nobelists have used the tableware.
