Trena and Jeremy fell in love at Oregon State, so it was only fitting that for Part I of their engagement session we shot at Reser Stadium and around the OSU campus. Part II shall continue at the Oregon Coast once the weather is a little nicer! Can’t wait to shoot their wedding in 2013!

I just spent a little time going through Craigslist to see if I could find anything that I could use for photography props. It’s time to say….”My name is Lainey Dyer and I AM a prop junkie!” Having said that….if you have something super cool just sitting in your basement, closet or garage just waiting to be used in a photo-shoot…CALL ME! I’ll take it off your hands and put it to creative good use. I’m looking for things like, bowls big enough to fit newborns in, baskets, trunks, material for backdrops, old wagons or toys…etc. etc. My most recent find was an old steamer trunk that was from the 1800′s! I only paid 20 bucks for it and it’s my favorite thing EVER! Take a look at how I just used it for my last shoot….

Not in a weird way, of course. In a loveable and awesome way.

He has a degree in math. She works with the state legislature. They both graduated from the University Honors College at OSU. In fact, one of their favorite professors in the honors college married them. And Alyson surprised Max with a cake that had math all over it. It made my nerdy insides feel all warm and fuzzy.

But don’t let the math cake fool you; their wedding was a force to be reckoned with.

Their guest list was huge, and they didn’t mess around. Their August 13th wedding took place at a beautiful venue – Garden in the Woods - tucked right off highway 34 as you drive towards Corvallis. Magenta catered the event, as well as hosted their epic after-party (why stop at 11pm when you can go all night?).

Seriously, this was one of the most fun weddings I’ve ever seen. Max and Alyson, you two know how to throw a party!

Max started the day getting ready in the appropriately named “man cave” with his groomsmen and their flasks.

While Alyson got ready with her mom and bridesmaids in a little room on the other side of the property.

Once the dress was on, Max and Alyson opted to do a “first look” so that we could most of the portraits before the ceremony!

Once they had seen each other, we wandered around the property taking pictures for awhile. I loved this little tea house!

And then the rest of the wedding party joined in the photo-taking fun.

Before long, guests started to arrive and Alyson had to hide before the ceremony began. She kept peeking out her room though!

But pretty soon she was walking down the aisle with her father. The wedding ceremony was short and sweet!

The ceremony was followed by literally the longest receiving line I’ve ever seen. Close to 300 people.

And then came more family photos, dinner, and toasts!

“Look! Our rings!” Hahaha.

After toasts, they cut the cake! And started dancing, of course.

Then, for the first time all day, I noticed that the sun was coming out through the clouds as it set. I just had to steal Alyson and Max away for some more portraits in the field behind the property.

When we got back to the reception, the real party had begun!

When the party ended at 11pm (darn sound permits!) Alyson and Max jumped in the backseat of their very well decorated car, and head to downtown Corvallis to continue the fun!

Congratulations Alyson and Max! I had an amazing time working with you! You did a great job planning your wedding and I could tell that everyone who attended had a total blast – myself included! Thanks for everything!

Anyway though – I had a ton of fun shooting with these two girls! They had a lot of creative ideas and I was really flattered that they drove out from Newport to work with me!

“Approach cooking and love with equal abandon” - The Dalai Lama.

I saw this quote hanging in Jackie and Brian’s kitchen on a little blackboard, and realized it suited them perfectly. Of course they would have this hanging in their home.

“Brian and I love to cook together,” Jackie told me. “And we love wine… there is going to be a lot of wine at our wedding, haha.”

So, it only seemed natural that we start their Corvallis engagement session in their home, in their kitchen, with a little bit of wine and some ingredients for ginger snaps. It was so them. I love getting the chance to see people comfortable in their own environments.

After having some fun indoors, we really couldn’t stop ourselves from venturing outside to the park around the block. The skies were beautifully dramatic and the fall leaves looked incredible, as did Jackie and Brian, of course.

As the sun was going down, Jackie and Brian changed outfits one last time and brought out their friend Teddy for a few shots. He was quite enthusiastic!

I had a great time working with you Jackie and Brian! Can’t wait to shoot your wedding in California next spring! It’s going to be a blast!

We shot these at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Corvallis, which until two weeks ago I didn’t even know existed. It was a gorgeous day with bright and stormy skies, making for ideal light conditions. Plus it helped that Erica is gorgeous… we had a blast!

Apparently it introduces them to to their future husbands and wives as well!

Yes, as cheesy as it might sound, Daniel and Lynnae actually connected during CONNECT.

In fact, they may or may not have met drunkenly at one of their first college parties… And they may or may not have had difficulity remembering each others names when they bumped into each other again the next day! But that didn’t stop them from reintroducing themselves and beginning what would turn into a beautiful relationship.

Call it fun, call it a small town, or even call it fate, but the two were made for each other. After being together through all their years at OSU, Lynnae and Daniel got engaged this summer, and can’t wait to tie the knot next August!

Because it’s where they met, and it’s where their relationship grew, we decided to shoot their engagement pictures at OSU’s gorgeous campus. Congrats you two! I had so much fun working with you!

I’ve had a few inquiries just today asking about location work, but really your best bet this time of year is in studio.. at least until it snows! So with that said, the studio will be open all winter long, so don’t hesitate to book those sessions!

I wanted to share with you this one last fall session before I broke into some of the awesome Christmas photo shoots I’ve had the last couple weeks.. which btw have just been great! So stay tuned for those, and in the meantime enjoy this handsome little guy, his big blue eyes, and his absolutely GORGEOUS smile!

In the meantime I wanted to share with you this beautiful family I was able to photographer while in Corvalis. These kids were a BLAST an we had such a great time playing together. I really enjoyed myself and by the end I was being promised loads of toys (like they had gotten in some kind of competition to show me who liked me the most! lol) Thanks B family for letting me share some great times with you! I hope you love these as much as I do!

Last week it was looking like we would get a white Christmas here in Corvallis, it still may happen for the folks north of us in Salem and Portland.  May you all have a great holiday.

I’m excited to be adding Senior Portraits as well as Child/Family Portaits to my list of services. This was at first, my most dreaded form of photography but as life goes on I’m finding that people are so interesting and it’s also fun and challenging.

Hold this page…there is bound to be more of my “Joslyn Series”. She’s only a sophmore so I have 2 more years before I can take her Senior pictures.
