FYI, it snows at the Grove during the Holiday Season.

My friends and I were at an event for Nylon Magazine at PacSun. We decided to step outside. Just as we left the store, it started to snow. We ran over to the big Christmas tree, where the snow was falling. I’m from Colorado, so seeing white flakes fall from the sky is not the most magical event I’ve ever seen. But, it was fun. We opened our mouths to catch the falling white flakes (something you do when it’s really snowing). Not the best idea. The snow tasted gross. Apparently, the fake snow is made from soap.

Below, find a photo I took of Cory Kennedy at the PacSun Event.  Most people don’t even know who she is. I think her story is interesting…but, I don’t exactly think she has the “it” factor down.

Cory Kennedy-Levin (born February 21, 1990) is an American fashion model, who started her career as an Internet celebrity before becoming an international model in 2006. Labeled an “It girl” by Gawker.com^[1] and a “club urchin” by LA Weekly,^[2] her MySpace page has garnered over 20,000 “friends”. She is managed by One Model Management, the same agency as Devon Aoki and Bridget Hall.^[3] Cory runs her own blog, ItsCoryKennedy.com and also is a photographer and journalist.

Kennedy met photographer Mark Hunter (who goes by the alias “The Cobrasnake”) at a Blood Brothers concert at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, California in the summer of 2005. He took some photographs of her for his web site and they exchanged phone numbers. In January 2006 Kennedy began an internship at his office, to fulfill a requirement from her high school for graduation.^[4] Hunter’s web site featured photos of celebrities at various parties and he began bringing Kennedy. Hunter and Kennedy also began dating with the approval of her parents.

In December 2005, Hunter had posted photos of Kennedy with the title “JFK CORY KENNEDY”, which began speculation that she was somehow related to the Kennedy family^[4] (she is not).

By April, Hunter had noticed every time he posted photos of Kennedy on his site, the web traffic from fashion and celebrity community sites would spike. Hunter quickly realized that Kennedy had the potential to be a star.^[4] That month, as the Kennedy-Levin family visited New York City on vacation, Kennedy and Hunter visited the offices of Nylon magazine. The very next day she was in a photo shoot for an issue focused on music and MySpace, which hit news stands in June.

She was mentioned in a New York Times article about interns^[5] and LA Weekly did a short article about her.^[2] Then in October, she appeared in a mock music video for Good Charlotte’s “Keep Your Hands Off My Girl”, directed by Nylon‘s editor-in-chief Marvin Scott Jarrett. The entire clip is shot from a single camera at a fixed angle, and consists of Kennedy shaking salt and pepper to the beat while eating Indian food and listening to the song on a portable music player. The viral video became one of the most popular videos on the Web.^[4] She is very good friends with fashion designer Jeremy Scott.^[6]

Her parents had known about her exposure online but had not realized the extent to which it had grown until the June issue of Nylon appeared. Because Kennedy had been previously treated for clinical depression, their primary concern had been her health and well-being. By September 2006, her celebrity life began to conflict with her home and school life. Kennedy and Hunter had broken up, but she was still accompanying him to parties mid-week and staying out late, usually not coming home until two or three in the morning.^[4]

Worrying for her education, her parents had her placed in a boarding school, a “nonpublic therapeutic placement”^[4] with limited phone and computer use, although she is free to leave on weekends. Despite this, her career has taken off, with campaigns, covers of dozens of magazines, and editorials in magazines such as Vogue.

one word to describe her. cute ? yeap ! cewek imut ini juga dikenal lewat myspace. dia itu cewek yang narsisnya tinggi abis (sama kaya gue) sehingga foto foto dia tuh banyak banget. dan karena itu pula banyak yang membuat profile zoe yang palsu. mungkin karena pingin tenar juga kali ya ? nah, karena keimutan cewek ini ternyata juga mengundang musibah, katanya ada (maaf) cowok fedofilia yang suka banget sama cewek umur 16 tahun ini , akhirnya cowok ini meng-gooling foto foto di zoe. dia juga mengirim comment comment yang kasar dan porno ke zoe. karena itu , akhirnya dia menghapus account dia. nah, kalau ada account zoe kimball di my space kemungkinan besar itu bukan dia, karena banyak banget account palsunya zoe.

itu dia beberapa celebrities yang terkenal lewat internet. jadi internet celebrity emang ada positif dan negatif. positif nya, kita bisa cepet banget terkenal karena memang internet udah ada dimana mana. tapi negatifnya kita bisa kena cyber bully kaya yang dialami ama zoe. so, what do you think ?

The future of tech skateboarding looks good.

Battle at the Berrics 2 is over. It’s so crazy in the beginning it seems like it’s going to take forever for the brackets to become finished but then it’s all of a sudden the finals and Paul Rodriguez is battling Skater Of The Year Chris Cole. I was actually hoping Cory Kennedy would take it. Has anyone seen his new Girl ad? He grinds to kickflip to grinds. It’s like THPS4 in this world now. Well I am glad it was Paul who beat him though. Paul’s nasty. Now let’s see who takes the title.

For the record. Cole v. P-rod was pretty stellar, but as ever, the runner-up match with Cory Kennedy and Torey Pudwill took the cake…

Olivia Malone is one of my favorite photographers. The saturation of colors in her photos are stunning, and she really has an understanding of how to photograph people. She is a New York City based photographer, but it seems that she rarely photographs within the actual city. One of the things I love most about her photography is the urgency of time; each photo looks as if it has captured one of the most beautiful seconds in time and then literally, in a flash, that moment is gone.

A few years back she did a photo shoot with the beloved it-girl Cory Kennedy. As I was browsing through some of the photographs I have saved on my computer, I came across this shoot and thought I’d share it with the rest of you!

I highly recommend checking out Olivia’s site though, it is filled with even more beautiful photos of people, landscapes and things that catch her eye.

J’enfonce une porte ouverte, mais on a tous voulu au moins une fois quelque chose que les stars/célébrités avaient. Ça ne sert à rien de nier, c’est arrivé à tout le monde. Alors aujourd’hui, je vais en faire une petite liste, la liste de tout ce que font/ont les stars et que l’on rêverait de faire/avoir.

On a, en vrac (oui, c’est assez difficile de classer…) :

• L’alcoolisme naturel de Uffie et Alison Mosshart. En les voyant boire et se défoncer sur scène, on a tous voulu pouvoir faire pareil au moins une fois dans notre vie. Monter sur scène, hurler et chanter, boire, fumer, boire encore, vomir ; et que tout cela soit cautionné par le responsable de la salle, et que en plus, on ne paye rien de tout ça, et que MÊME, on soit payé pour ça! Le pied non ?

• L’attitude provoc’ de Lady GaGa ou de Rihanna pendant ses lives. Là aussi, qui n’a jamais rêvé d’oser quelque chose comme ça ? Oser le body et les cuissardes lacées, ou oser le latex avec des clous, et les cuissardes assorties ? Les cheveux aussi. C’est bien connu, on est jamais content de sa touffe. Alors que la personne qui n’a jamais eu envie de changer de coupe au gré de ses envies (comme GaGa ou Rihanna qui en changent comme de cuissardes) se dénonce right now!

• La hypitude de Cory Kennedy. Repérée par Mark Hunter, plus connu sous le nom de CobraSnake, Cory est devenue du jour au lendemain LA fille à avoir dans son réseau. Lycéenne banale, elle est devenue la coqueluche de la mode, adepte des soirées hypes & toujours au premier rang des shows de créateurs. On a tous eu envie, enfant, que notre vie change radicalement ; en bien, évidemment. Et Cory a eu cette chance (le revers de la médaille sera discuté dans un autre article, je pense). Dans le même style, mais en plus élégant, on trouve Kate! Miss Moss, millionnaire dès ses 20 ans, grâce à son job de top qui dure depuis près de 15 ans (!). Ascension professionnelle fulgurante, glamour, paillettes, le rêve de pas mal de gens.
• Les dons de Lily Allen ou Angelina Jolie. Lily et Angelina ont quand même UN point commun (malgré leurs différences de poids, de taille, de famille et toussa-toussa.) : elles ont un don. Lily fait de la musique par elle même, elle compose et écrit la majorité de ses pistes et Angelina joue sans doute mieux que les 95% des actrices du moment. On veut tous avoir un don pour pouvoir percer comme elles.

• Carrie Bradshaw, sa garde robe, ou plutôt son dressing. OUI, le point qui réunit toutes les foules, LE DRESSING DE CARRIE. Qu’on soit un homme ou une femme, tout être humain normalement constitué a besoin de fringues belles, hypes, classieuses, qui en imposent. Et pour ça, il en faut beaucoup, tout comme Carrie! (Et on peut aussi souhaiter, comme elle et Anna Wintour, avoir un ami gay. Mais ça, je peux gérer.)

Cory Kennedy sent in a video to The Berrics and won the Bang Yo Self contest. Now he has Girl Skateboards ads and is killng people in the Battle At The Berrics. Not bad if you ask me. Such good style.

“Girly Tough” appears as an oxymoron when really it is a nice mix. Imagine a leather jacket with hardcore studs, ripped and bleached pants (Balmain style),  a cute floral shirt,  bows and lace topped with heavy metal bangles.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love how everyone wants to throw the party, everyone wants the best costume, and most importantly everyone wants to have a fun filled spoOoOoooky time! Its great to see how creative people get with their costumes and decorations. From haunted houses to innovative jack-o-lanterns and sheet ghosts to creepy crawly spiders, the imaginations and creativity never ceases to amaze me. I hope that everyone is all locked and loaded with their Halloween costumes!!

i hope she’s back!!

Someone once told me that food is fashion. At first this confused me, after all, the average model probably eats 250 calories a day. However, once I opened my eyes I began to realize that there really is a connection between my two biggest indulgences. Some of my favorite bloggers write about both fashion and food (i.e. cupcakes and cashmere), designers are constantly inspired by delicious gourmet cuisines, and the amount of time that goes into creating both fashion and food is really quite similar.

In order for food and fashion to succeed, they have to be presented well and they have to make a person feel good. No one wants a plate of grilled halibut and roasted veggies to look like it was mindlessly thrown on the plate, nor do they want a sweater that is poorly constructed and falling apart at the seams (well, unless it was meant to be that way…). The uber cool and utterly gorgeous Cory Kennedy, the internet it girl, has added to the long list of magazines she’s now appeared in, by doing a shoot with Vogue for their November issue. Cory is wearing LNA zipper leggings which have become almost as trendy as she is!

Cory Kennedy, 19, shot to fame as the 15-year-old muse of photographer Mark Hunter and has been snapped by the coolest fashion magazines going, like Nylon, Vogue, and Paper. The young fashionista lives in between California and London and hangs around with the cool LA crowd and the London fash pack. She also designed a range of t-shirts with Mark and Australian brand Ksubi last year (can you see who the censored celeb is?)

It went kind of exactly like this

As the drudgery of Real Life keeps me from ruminating on things like the music in the new Flip video, I throw this one out to the Berrics-minded masses who have stuck with this second iteration of the Game of Skate through myriad substitutions, explanation-free delays and wholesale bending/breaking of the tattered rules sheet: what, then, do we make of Cory Kennedy’s swing-for-the-fences approach to this weekend’s matchup against Peter Ramondetta? To this viewer, the game was probably some type of watershed moment for the BATB series, in spirit if not in edge-of-your-seatness or whatever. Because, you had one contestant with everything to gain, wasting no time in his bid to roll his way into the semis and messageboard lionization; then you had another dude who’s more or less a veteran pro at this point, from the purportedly less dog-eat-dog zone of Northern California, who nevertheless was able to whip out a nollie frontside heelflip with an extra body varial upon command.

Andy of the Program zine described the nollie flip backside 360 opener thusly: “It’s like playing horse in basketball and taking your first shot from full court.”

Which is sort of true. But then again, if I’m watching a couple NBA types play a game of horse at my local playground, do I need to wait for them to each sink shots from the free-throw line and various three-pointers and lay-ups before they get to the zany shit? In his own way, Cory Kennedy’s showing consideration for my time, an increasingly precious commodity even after forgetting about Twitter yet again. In another way, he’s being more up-front about his skill level (and his view of the Berrics Battle) than he would by going the now-standard route of opening with a kickflip, 360 flip, fakie bigspin flip, nollie flip, etc etc and then whipping out the Greg Lutzka finishing move over and over on the final letter.

Some have said that CK came off jock-ish and concerned only with winning, while others say that if somebody whipped out that first trick on them in a friendly skatepark game they’d instantly be over it. Both true, sort of, but also kind of beside the point, because with (at least) $10,000 on the line and a potential career-goose at stake, I think it would be more disingenuous of Cory Kennedy to try and pretend like he didn’t care, and to hold back would be kind of retarded.

I’ll wind down this ramble by stating I don’t know Cory Kennedy/his actual persona whatsoever, and I make it a policy of not watching any of the ad nauseum coverage of this event as far as the pre- and post-game interviews go, mostly because I have yachts to wax and so on.

then i will. but i guess the baton is passed on to cory kennedy so i’m still on the fence about it.  “tough shoes to fill”. Daisy is smokin’ and I might even like her a little bit more than alexa chung. gasp!

With the change, I still had Peter slated to lose even though he has been killing it.

The room was a brightly colored pink at Alexandre Herchcovitch’s show at the Salon in Bryant Park. Herchcovitch has been one of my favorite designers for years now, so I was pretty excited to see what kind of designs he had in store for the s/s 2010 season.

Inspired by the uniforms in fútbol, Alexandre Herchcovitch’s collection toyed with bright colors, fabric and exaggerated silhouettes this season. Boxy dresses made out of rubber and brightly checked pants were definitely a highlight for me. Despite the luscious fabrics, there was a real sporty feel to each design, which was only emphasized by every model’s tube socks. While the caged skirts at the end were a bit much, they also aided in making Herchcovitch’s collection as playful and intense as the sport he was inspired by.  This is definitely one of his best collections yet.

The front row was graced with Herchcovitch’s collection of “it-girls”: Byrdie Bell, Cory Kennedy, Kate Lanphear and Becka Diamond.
