Dear wordpress readers, I know it has been a while but the “while” has been truly succe

Dear wordpress readers,

I know it has been a while but the “while” has been truly successful on my side. What about yours?? Everything from discoveries to writing breathrough to creating even more blogs. Yes, it’s possible to have even more blogs than I already did and guess what the count is now: 14!!

The first, Just a Girl (at daughtersinthelord.blogspot.com), is for all the ladies out there!! Lord knows we need each other and all of the support in the world, “‘Cause it’s hard out there for a [[chiqq]]” LoL See, I’ve never been one to prefer a gender over the other, thinking one is better than the other. What I mean by that is, I believe in equal rights. Yes, I’m a feminist. Nobody, not even my grandmother, can stop me. Conservative views CAN mix with feminist views. God made us different but equal. A weaker vessel doesn’t mean a less important or less able person. I’m not a man, I’m a woman but I won’t ever let anybody tell me that means I’m less of a person than a man. I have felt like it’s hard growing up in this world period but being female, I know certain experiences of struggle we have more than I know what it’s like growing up being male, so, I’m offering support to all of the females out there in the issues we face daily. This blog is new, obviously and so far, just has poems and link lists. Any reviews, comments suggestions, comment on the blog, please!! Now, this brings me to the second:

LiL Girl, at lilgirlgrowingup.blogspot.com, is with the same focus as the blog above but for the younger generations and addresses the stereotypes of being a woman. Almost every woman has been referred to in a belittling manner at some point, by someone thinking they were inadequate because they were a female. A woman should not feel like a little girl in a grown-up’s body but many do..and some even still look like little girls on purpose. If you’re raising a young girl, this is the blog to visit. It’s all about the mentality of womanhood. I feel a need for this blog reach & cater to women everywhere, so, input is always welcome, regardless of age or location.

Last but not least, I have my editing blog!!!!! I finally feel like I can cool off with the new blogs because eDITORcHRIS now has her editing space. Visit thewholepiece.blogspot.com to see!! From receiving writing tips to receiving editing/proofreading services, it’s where to go for any writer trying to take themselves to a more serious level. Understand, it’s one thing to communicate and another to communicate effectively, where you’re actually being heard. Others hear you when they understand you and if you’re not communicating in a way they understand, you’re simply talking (or writing) not sharing. Things like fixing a misplaced or misspelled word can go far in increasing the attentiveness and focus someone is willing to devote to your writing. Realize that, in order for what anyone writes to be relevant to someone else, they must be able to read it. Each and every word is valuable and makes a difference. We all use words, whether talking or typing. Words aren’t going away. eDITORcHRIS will help you to use them properly, to the best advantage and make your messages clear. Guess what, it’s all for free, too…for now, at least!!

AS FAR AS POSTS:

On Saturday, December 19th, I wrote Top 8 Reasons to Take B Vitamins.

On Thursday, December 17th, I wrote Thoughtful Thursday.

On Tuesday, December 22nd, I wrote Slightly reflective, non-uniform inspiration for the day.

i’VE REVAMPED THE LOOK AND WORKED OUT KINKS WITH FEEDBURNER SO I’M MUCH MORE SATISFIED W/ ALl OF MY BLOGS AND DEEPLY INTERESTED TO LEARN HOW I WILL DEVELOP THEM FUrTHER IN THE NEAR FUTURE….

Also, in recent weeks, I have joined forces with MY BROTHERS!! If you don’t know them yet, you will. From recording music to inviting them to write on a couple of my blogs, everything’s been flowing beautifully!!

{{very}} PERSONAL CHANGES:

I packed to go on a trip to Virginia that I, in the end, didn’t go on. Read some context here: Choices

This morning, I prayed this prayer: Lord, I’ve made many mistakes…but if You forgive me, lead me now.

Unpacking from the trip I didn’t go on brought a lot of order into my life, as did the packing. I found many things and re-organized…one thing I re-discovered is this: What’s on Your Mind?, a book I bought earlier this year at a church. Bought 3 that day, actually. All of these books and more were sitting in a bookbag ever since my summer vacation and since September, the bookbag has been at the bottom of a closet in my new room that I moved into at the beginning of September!!

Now, on the topic of books and discoveries, I’ll be getting to those now:

–An e-mail from Focus on the Family had me learning of a great book to link to on my new two geared-toward-girls blogs:

Let’s Walk the Talk! Girlfriend to Girlfriend on Faith, Friendships & Finding Real Love

By: Danae Dobson

–My homepage is boundless.org and I opened up my internet browser to find them supporting yet another book I later linked to for my new geared-toward-girl blogs:

Raising a Modern-Day Princess: Inspiring Purpose, Value, and Strength in Your Daughter

By: Pam Farrel, Doreen Hanna

So, everything was coming together!! I’m sure that they’ll be great reads and was looking for good resources to add to those link lists!!

Last of the books:

–Somehow, someway, no doubt being through blogging or procrastinating, I found this! That led me to…

Primal: A Quest for the Lost Soul of Christianity

I have a new author added to the list of my faves!!

Moving on from books into other media-related discoveries:

I went onto my MySpace and saw this comment:

Whats good fam!!

The United in Christ Mixtape Vol.II is out, DOWNLOAD FREE AT:

On tumblr, while looking for Christian blogs to “follow,” I came across a cool video:

Here are some strategies that are good to teach children to handle their emotions. These can work for kids with autism, who have a hard time regulating emotions, as well as for neurotypical children.

1. Validate their feelings. Don’t diminish what they say by saying they should not be upset. Tell them you understand they are upset and that it’s normal to be upset. Identify with them by saying that everybody feels badly sometimes – even adults.

2. Give them strategies to self-regulate their emotions. Examples include having them:

Take deep breaths. Have them breathe into their hands or use a windmill or a leaf.

Count to 10 or 20.

Talk about it with a parent, teacher, or peer.

Exercise

3. Use a video camera to tape them complaining about doing an activity and also tape them acting appropriately. Show them both versions so they can understand how others perceive them (theory of mind).

By the way, if anyone has any other ideas, feel free to contact me (contact information is at www.coachmike.net).

Kicking off this post with a stormer from Crookers (yes, another one), they have got together with Soulwax and produced a monster of a track called “We Love Animals”. With this collaboration you know its going to be a big track and it delivers many times over and you get exactly what you want, a big electro house bass number.

Crookers & Soulwax – We Love Animals (Tons of Friends)

Got another tune from Wiley here (Shocking!) and its really good (even more Shocking!). We had Take That a few weeks ago with Chew Fu. Now Wiley releasing “Never be Your Woman” with great vocals from Emeli Sandé. You should recognise the sample from this its from the 90’s classic White Town ” Your Woman”. I’ve got Solo (UK) “Loves Garage” remix here. All I can say is that its a big tune, and with a catchy sample like this will be all over the radio in no time. Sure to a Wiley 2010 hit.

To finish I’ve got The Count and Sinden giving Robbie Williams the remix treatment. “You Know Me” with increased bass and breakdowns. I’ve got to say it is a right tune, I didn’t think it would work, but the guys manage to use the Williams vocal really well. I really love the tribal element to this tune, a fresh new sound, which I just love to hear. Have a listen, you just might like this.

Author : TJAHJAPUTRI, GRACE “It is innate in man to want to revenge when he is wronged”

Author : TJAHJAPUTRI, GRACE

“It is innate in man to want to revenge when he is wronged” (Collins 104). This applies to the main character in Alexandre Dumas?s The Count of Monte Cristo Edmond Dantes, when he is wrongfully denounced and henceforward undone. Dantes?s vengeance upon his enemies, particularly his character change before the denunciation, after the denunciation, and after the revenge would be the core discussion in this thesis. Dantes, a simple and soft-hearted sailor, is wrongfully denounced and later he seeks revenge upon his enemies. Thus, the thesis writer aims to figure out whether there is a character change in Dantes before and after the denunciation, and after the revenge. In order to analyze the character change of Dantes, the keyterm of revenge and the theories of characterization and conflict are utilized. In studying the character of Dantes, the thesis writer analyzes the four ways in which Dantes?s character is disclosed. The four ways are what Dantes says and thinks, what he does, what other characters say about him, and what the narrator says about him. Besides, the internal conflicts of Dantes are used to achieve the purpose of the study. The thesis writer draws some conclusions from her analysis. First, there is a change in Dantes?s character before and after he is denounced, and after he completes his revenge. Secondly, taking revenge does not always bring satisfaction for the doers. Finally, vengeance makes a man?s character become worse.

In today’s Programming Praxis exercise, we have to implement the Unix wc command line utility. Let’s get started.

First, we need some imports.

import System.Environment
import Text.Printf

We handle the command line arguments with a bit of pattern matching.

parseOpts :: [String] -> ([Bool], [String])
parseOpts (('-':ps):args) = (map (`elem` ps) "lwc", args)

Next, we need to do the actual counting:

count :: [Bool] -> [(String, String)] -> [String]

So a Korean customer is standing there, trying to ask me about sales. We have discounts and sales on sweaters throughout the store.
“So all the sweaters are on sale, right?”
“Yes.” We go through cardigans, turtle-necks, and all types of sweaters. And I assure him, all sweaters are on sale.
He points at a leather jacket behind him, “So that’s on sale, too, right?”
I stand there for a moment. I don’t know what to think. I just say, “Between you and me, we both know a leather jacket is not a sweater.”
We stand there and look at each other for a while. I don’t really know what else to say.

—–
This reminds me of a story from a coworker a week before. Another group of Korean customers were in the store, and we had a similar sale on sweaters. We tell them the sale, and one of the men asks, “So these are on sale?” And he points at a wall of shoes.
“No, all sweaters are on sale.”
The man turns to a wall of scarves, “Oh, so those are on sale.”
“No, sweaters, those are scarves.”
I find out the man speaks perfect English, so I have no idea why he is acting like he doesn’t understand. Oddly, he also has issues with leather jackets. He approaches me with a leather jacket, because we have that amazing additional 40% off sale. He asks if this is on sale, and I look, and the item is marked down, so I tell him it is 40% off of $150. Then he says, “How much is that?” By now, I’m really just tired of how much his brain is on vacation, or how much he wants to look like he doesn’t know anything. I ask him if he really can’t do the math…
Internally, I think: It would be, for slower people, 40% of $100 is $40. 40% of $50 would then be $20 (because $50 is half of $100).
I tell him, “It’s $60 off.”
And he suddenly collects his wits, and says, “Yes, you’re right.”

Climb my scales, it said. And so I did. Straddle the rooftop, it said. I did that, too. This is the whole universe spinning overhead, it said. I couldn’t understand anymore. And I wondered if I had made the whole thing up. That seems about right to me today. Underneath, the house began to shake. I knew what that meant, and so I woke. All day, I have been feeling this strange sense that I must return. That if I do, the answer will be clear. And yet what fool hasn’t woken from his dream to find the world he sees unsatisfying? Count me, this time, one of the lucky ones. I wake tomorrow knowing that my house is just a house. The moon no portal but a shining stone. That light shines on the tiles all day. That light shines on other tiles tonight in another hemisphere. The moon is just roof. Or is it a dreamer and everything beyond his dream the house of house?
