Please know you have profoundly helped me grow to who I am today (I hope that’s not a bad thing!). I apologize off the bat for the bad grammar. This is a very stream of consciousness letter. I am thankful for so many people this is going to sound like an acceptance speech. If only I had an award to go with it!For some reason, I feel more thankful than ever. Going through a transformation of sorts puts everything in perspective. When I lost my job this past June, I would have never guessed I would have felt more alive and have met some of the most amazing people. I never dreamed I would be on television/radio and also have a blog, which has had to date over 15,000 hits. I am grateful for EVERYONE who visits day after day!

UPDATE: Found a mostly-usable form of the video from 22 Minutes, not on their site but at YouTube.  I dunno, but did anyone hear what Palin actually said the same way I did?  In fairness, I didn’t hear “dismantle,” only that the government should share the market with the private sector, IOW a single (big) step backwards, not the giant leap.  No difference though.  “Commonsense conservatism”?  Sweetheart, it left the U.S. during/after the Revolution, and remained among Canada’s Red Tories until they lost their party in the Harper/Reform takeover a couple years ago.  And Sarah and Steve ain’t it!

The other thing I noticed is that, while the lovable “Marg Delahunty” (OK, I really can’t take the voice, but admire her “all lies” review of the book!!) was woman-handled out of the library, her camera crew was allowed to stay.  PURE PHOTO-OP!  No questions, just pictures.  I hope Muscle-Melon wasn’t on the public payroll facilitating that ‘un-campaign’ appearance for Palin.

ORIGINAL: That’s right, the Canadians who ‘punked’ W. got last week what may be the only policy remarks Alaska’s disgraced, resigned, unqualified, eye-candy governor will allow herself to be drawn on involuntarily, unscripted, during her eternal, fluff book tour/photo-op … and her own country is not the subject (nor is Russia!): ‘Yup, yup,’ like most self-important Republican politicos, she’s now become an expert on Canada’s model single-payer healthcare system — and all she cares about is corporate profiteering instead, and RATIONING on the basis of wealth, Whiteness, suburban residence, non-Indigenous status, etc.

If that’s “going rogue,” then John McCain’s a maverick!  The free ride she’s been getting from the MSM ever since her (losing) nomination is a danger to America and the world, because the hard right wing will back her as their savior just to feel they get back in power, even if she doesn’t know what to do with it in any way that will benefit, apparently, anyone other than CEOs and wealthy stockholders … short-term, anyway….  TALK ABOUT “DEATH PANELS”!!!  ‘Whose plug would Jesus pull?’

It has now been four weeks since H deployed. I don’t know if the last month has gone by quickly or is dragging. It’s funny how the weeks leading up to H’s deployment seemed to go really fast. A couple of times I really just wanted it to slow down. But when I want it to speed up, like get this year over quicker, it feels like time just slows down. I miss him. It sucks that I can’t really communicate with him the way that I would want to, but I’m doing my best to make the most out of what I do get. But looking on the brighter side, one month down eleven more to go. Although I will be really excited when I can reverse those numbers!!

Thanksgiving is a time for everyone to get together as a family. When you look back in time the Pilgrims and Native Americans did the same thing. When you lo past that you see that they took there land and called this place America. It’s not much of a happy endeing being that the Native Americans are still made that there land was taken away. This is one of the topics that is brouoght up in schools this time of the year. You learn about Columbus and all of that other stuff that you should probably know. There is a lot of dumb things that go around on this holiday, stupid sayings and people gaining weight. That always gets me made when people say that there going to gain 20,30,50 pounds on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is just like any other dinner, you sit down, eat food then argue with your family over something stupid then you got to bed. The only thing that is different is that your eating with a whole bunch of greedy people who are just as hungry as you are and eat up all the food before you get to it. Theres a lot of stuff that people do on Thanksgiving other than what I said. I’m sure you have your own family traditions. I know that in my family we just get together and eat food and watch football. Well at least the men do but this year I heard that the lions are going to play and that its going to be a bull game, but I really don’t care for football. I just eat and bug the heck out of my cousins when I get a chance. But yeah, Thanksgiving is blah blah blah blah…. Theres to much crap to talk about this wonderfull holiday where we have to eat. Who ever thought of making this a holiday. Who ever did must have been 300 lbs over weight, well i’m not sure if they were 300 lbs and I don’t want to really make fun of the person who made it a holiday. I TAKE IT BACK!!! So… have you ever seen one of those sitcom TV shows where they have there little Thanksgiving special when they come together and eat then it turns into a disaster. Yeah there funny but once you have watched it 20 times over through out the year then its CRAP! Man I’ve been talking for a while now, let me let you go. I have other things to do then lecture you about my thoughts about Thanksgiving. Man, I’m tired of saying THANKSGIVING! This is the end of the countdown and to Thanksgiving. Holla!

I’m a glutton for punishment. Although the Big Meal is less than 48 hours away, I have yet to begin the actual shopping for ingredients. Right now, it’s pouring rain, the temperature is dropping, and the roads are pretty slick. I’m debating as to whether I should shop now (while most people are snug at home) or face the horde tomorrow morning. Heads, stay home; tails, go out. (Coin toss at the end of my post.)

Tomorrow afternoon, I’m having my first official playdate for the Princess and four of her friends from her first grade class. Activities include cookie decorating, crafts, and the Wii. The playdate is actually freaking me out more than cooking Thanksgiving dinner.

Somehow I let HB convince me to host the playdate on the day before Thanksgiving. At the time I was thinking, “Sure, I’ll be doing a favor for those moms who’ll need to do their shopping/food prep,” while forgetting that I could probably use the afternoon myself. D’oh [head smack].

Although I should be in some kind of catatonic state, a part of me knows that somehow my cooking/baking spirit guides will come through for me in the end. After all, I live for the stress, the adrenaline rush, and the final collapse at the finish when I say, “I’m never doing this again. Or at least I’ll plan it better next time.”

As for the coin toss—apparently, it doesn’t matter. The Princess and HB want sausage-y rolls “right now,” meaning I have to go out and get some ingredients tonight, whether I like it or not.

Christmas and Thanksgiving can be a very stressful time if you’re the chief cook and bottlewasher in the house.  Even if you regularly cook roast meals, there is extra pressure on these two occasions to produce a meal fit for the King of Siam and his entourage because Christmas and Thanksgiving almost invariably involve big family get togethers. 

Your exact meal is obviously entirely up to you but I thought it might just be helpful to map out a suggested main-course menu (because this is what we all worry about) plus suggested timing.  Make this schedule the basis of your Christmas menu planning and add or delete items that you want to include or remove.  Remember, the clever cook will always plan ahead so that they don’t totally lose their mind (and cool) on ‘The Big Day’. 

Suggested Main Menu – Serves 8

Cider roast turkey with glazed apples and pears with sticky shallots

‘Pigs in blankets’ (little sausages wrapped in bacon)

Chestnut & cranberry roll

Crisp-topped sprouts

Buttery caraway carrots

Roast potatoes

Bread sauce

Gravy

PREPARING AHEAD – All dishes to be kept in fridge or freezer until needed

Up to 1 Month Ahead

Parboil and freeze the Roast Potatoes

Make the Chestnut and Cranberry Roll, if freezing

***Up to 3 Days Ahead***

***If you have bought a frozen turkey, think about how you plan to defrost it. Be aware that in a fridge a frozen bird of the size appropriate to feed 8 people could take anything from a day and a half to two and a half days to properly defrost.  Suggested sizes of bird are here and tips on defrosting here (this second link takes you to the British Food Standards Agency site).  

Up to 2 Days Ahead

Make the Chestnut and Cranberry Roll if making from fresh

Prepare and roast the Glazed Apples and Pears with Sticky Shallots

Christmas Eve

Roast the Chestnut and Cranberry stuffing roll – keep in the foil

Make the bread sauce and store, covered, in the fridge

Boil or steam the sprouts and prepare the topping for the Crispy-topped Sprouts

Steam the carrots for the Buttery Caraway Carrots

Prepare the Pigs in Blankets

Defrost anything frozen in the fridge.

CHRISTMAS DAY

09.30am:

Stuff the turkey, weigh and calculate cooking time.  Heat oven to 190C  /  375F  /  Gas mark 5  /  (Fan oven: 170C, approx 340F)

10.00am:

Put the turkey in to roast (timings based on a 4.5 kg / 10lb turkey)

11.00am and 12.00pm:

Check the roasting tin – add more cider if needed

12.30pm:

Remove the foil from the turkey to let it brown

1.00 pm:

Leave the turkey to rest.  Put the potatoes in the oven to roast, if frozen.  (If not, put in at 1.10pm).  Make the gravy.

1.30pm:

Turn the oven up to 220C  /  425F  /  Gas 7  /(Fan 200C  / 400F).  Turn the potatoes and add the stuffing roll to oven to reheat.  Put the ‘pigs in blankets’  in oven to cook.

1.45pm:

Reheat the apples, pears and shallots in the oven if room, or in the microwave if not, adding a little extra glaze.  Finish the sprouts and the carrots and heat the bread sauce, adding a little milk if it seems too thick.  Take the foil off the stuffing.

2.00pm:

Serve and enjoy!  If you have a hot pudding planned for dessert, place it in the oven and allow the residual heat to warm it through while you eat.

E’ possibile impostare uno shutdown temporizzato da prompt in questo modo:

shutdown -s -t 1800

La misurazione del tempo avviene in secondi, in questo caso il PC si spegnerà esattamente 30 minuti dopo l’avvio del comando.

Se al posto di spegnerlo si desidera riavviarlo basta sostituire l’opzione -s (shutdown) con -r (reboot):

shutdown -r -t 1800

Nel caso si voglia spegnere o riavviare subito il valore è 0 (zero)

shutdown -s -t 0

As reported in a breaking Billboard.com news story yesterday, Jay-Z earns his fourth Hot 100 No. 1 with “Empire State of Mind,” his collaboration with Alicia Keys. All of Jay-Z’s four chart-toppers have been collaborations, but this is his first No. 1as a lead or co-billed vocalist. The rap legend’s prior chart-topping entries came as a featured vocalist on Mariah Carey’s “Heartbreaker” (1999), his now-wife Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love” (2003) and Rihanna’s “Umbrella” (2007).

“Empire” is also Keys’ fourth overall No. 1, as she previously scaled the list with her debut single “Fallin’” (2001), her duet with Usher, “My Boo,” (2004) and “No One” (2007).

“Empire” takes Hot 100 Airplay Gainer honors as it rises 6-1 on Radio Songs (up 15 million listener impressions to 109.5 million), the largest climb to No. 1 on that chart since Kanye West’s “Stronger” jumped 7-1 in the Oct. 6, 2007, issue.

The other big story within the Hot 100 top 10 is the 22-5 move and a Digital Gainer nod for Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now.” The act, which won Vocal Group of the Year and Single of the Year (for “I Run To You”) on ABC’s “Country Music Awards” Nov. 11, performed “Need” on the highly rated broadcast.

As a result, digital downloads soared 162% to 157,000, the highest one-week sum for a song by a country group since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital sales in 2003. Among all country acts, only Taylor Swift has moved more downloads for a track in a single week.

Lady Antebellum is also the first country group to reach the Hot 100 top 10 since Dixie Chicks peaked at No. 4 with “Not Ready to Make Nice” in March 2007.

Owl City’s “Fireflies” falls from No. 1 to No. 2 once more, now having spent two single-week stints at the top of the list. Another recent No. 1, Jason DeRulo’s “Whatcha Say” holds at No. 3 and Iyaz’s “Replay” remains at No. 4.

Britney Spear’s “3″ rebounds 8-6, “Down” by Jay Sean Featuring Lil Wayne dips 5-7 and Miley Cyrus’ “Party In The U.S.A.” also falls two spots to No. 8. Ke$ha chimes in with her first top 10, “Tik Tok” (14-10), becoming the second female act to score a top 10 with her debut single this year, following Lady Gaga. And she appropriately follows Gaga on this week’s list as “Paparazzi” slips 7-9.

The Glee Cast has charted 14 songs on the Hot 100, and for the first time sees one track move up the chart as the troupe’s cover of the “Wicked” musical’s signature song “Defying Gravity” bounds 99-31. “Gravity’s” gain is a result of a 185% digital spike to 70,000 downloads. Not coincidentally, the “Wicked” Broadway cast album nets its best sales week since last Christmas (6,000; up 85%) and the original “Defying” by Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth has its best download week ever (9,000 downloads).

Hot Shot Debut honors go to “Give It Up To Me” by Shakira Featuring Lil Wayne, the second single from the Latin songstress from her upcoming “She Wolf, due Nov. 23. The track enters the chart with 25,000 first-week downloads and moves 30-29 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart.

Another interesting debut comes from California native Anya Marina, who enters at No. 88 with a cover or T.I.’s former No. 1 “Whatever You Like.” Her version was featured in a recent episode of the CW’s “Gossip Girl.”

John Mayer Headed To No. 1 On Billboard 200

The annual onslaught of big album releases has begun in earnest as a bevy of superstar acts are in the hunt for high debuts on next week’s Billboard 200 chart.

John Mayer is on track to debut at No. 1 with “Battle Studies,” which could sell somewhere between 275,000 and 300,000 copies by week’s end on Sunday (Nov. 22), according to industry sources. It will be the singer/songwriter’s second topper, following “Heavier Things” in 2003. “Heavier” bowed in the penthouse with 317,000 copies. Mayer’s last studio set, “Continuum,” entered the chart at No. 2 with 300,000 in 2006.

Mayer will likely lead a parade of who’s-who in music next week on the chart, as another nine albums are on track to debut inside the top 20. Next in line could be Casting Crowns‘ “Until the Whole World Hears,” with possibly as much as 175,000 copies. After that, 50 Cent’s “Before I Self Destruct” and Norah Jones‘ “The Fall” are vying for the third-highest debut, as each are estimated to sell around 150,000 copies.

Tween sensation Justin Bieber’s debut album, “My World,” could shift 100,000 copies while “American Idol” winner Kris Allen may see his debut effort move approximately 90,000 copies. Rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures seems on track to sell about 75,000 with its first effort and Leona Lewis’ second album, “Echo,” may sell 50,000 to 60,000, as will Paul McCartney’s new live set “Good Evening New York City.”

As for the big-selling holdover titles on next week’s list, the largest will be Andrea Bocelli’s “My Christmas,” which should sell another 100,000 copies. So far in two weeks, it has moved 285,000 copies.

Next week’s chart competes with the Billboard 200 in 2008 when Beyonce’s “I Am … Sasha Fierce” blew in with 482,000 copies and Nickelback’s “Dark Horse” galloped into the runner-up slot with 326,000 copies. All told, the tally greeted six debuts in the top 10 and each of the top seven sets surpassed 100,000 copies.

Nielsen SoundScan’s sales tracking week, as reflected in Billboard’s sales charts, runs from Monday through Sunday of each week. Next week’s album charts will be revealed on Nov. 25 and will reflect data through the week ending Nov. 22.

Warum sind die kritischen Berichte über Impftote im Ausland eigentlich plötzlich verstummt? Was geschieht zur Zeit in den Ländern mit Zwangsimpfung? Warum wird der Lissabon-Vertrag noch schnell zum 01.12.2009 in Kraft gesetzt, anstatt erst zum Jahreswechsel?

Gibt es plausible Erklärungen für all diese Ungereimheiten oder sind es nur “Verschwörungstheorien”? Was hat es mit dem auffälligen Schweigen der Medien zu diesen Fragen auf sich?
